MMOs are like homes. We live in them. We spend hours, days, weeks and months in these places. We adopt them to become ours. This game used to be “my game”. That is, the decisions the devs made in releasing the game on launch was about 90% of everything I wanted in an MMO (with a few small omissions).

But as time goes on and the game starts to drift from that initial game, this game becomes less my home. I’m no longer the guy who does everything in the game, I do less. And as they add more and provide less of the other stuff, I do even less.

As there’s less for me to do, I’ll just move to the next game that comes out,. eventually, when I’ve done everything I want to do. For me that won’t be this year, or next year. Hell it might be never.

But I’ve moved on from MMOs before and I move on from them because their focus changes. What they offer changes.

And I’m a guy that puts up with a lot of change before I move. I promise you there are a lot of people who walked away from the game because it’s become less casual than it was…probably more people than people who are raiding now…in my opinion.

Games like this are a comfort zone for some people. You take them too far out of their comfort zone and you force them to rethink their bound with the game.

This isn’t about raids being too difficult. I CAN do raids. I can join a raiding guild and beat every boss, just like I beat every elite area in Guild Wars 1. Being a raid isn’t my issue.

Not enjoying raids, and seeing rewards I want locked behind them, that’s my issue.

my ping spike up to 5k++ and I can’t even hit anything, everything just lag like 1min behind the real time…

This has been happening to me since about a week before Bitterfrost. Teq and Shatterer unplayable and I have had a 2 minute lag a few times So yes, game is no fun at the moment.

A few of the more difficult adventures for those with high ping are also needed to finish some of the collection achievements

Just happened to me as well….

Same problems here. Tried to do Teq the past 2 nights and the ping was ridiculous- could barely hit a thing due to 2 minute skill lag and 3 disconnects

I have the same issue. I did Ascent to Madness for the very time this year just a short time ago and got nothing but the reward popup. The chest at the end could not be interacted with and auto-loot picked up nothing. I did the “dungeon” a second time and everything was the same, even popup reward.

I did it 7 times and only got loot from the chest on one occasion- the 4th attempt. Every other time was the same as outlined above.

I know, this is an old thread, but I had this behavior just a few minutes ago and Just in Case someone from A-Net looks at this thread: I think it would be a great idea to display a more descriptive error message instead of “code:178:9:13:6241:101”! Couldn’t be this hard :-/

I was trying to do DS at about the same time Maecks- crashed and couldn’t get back into map as I had been kicked from squad in the 2 mins it took to log back in Joined another map for the next meta and was lucky to get a squad that didn’t kick me when I crashed twice before Mordy

Why do I see complaints like this still? Do a bit of calculating. You can get every single mastery point in the game, without doing most of the adventures to gold. It’s simply not necessary.

People say my masteries are gated behind shooting gallery or sanctum scramble, but this is factually wrong.

There are enough easy adventures you can get silver on, or even gold, get get all your mastery points.

I don’t have gold on most of my adventures, yet somehow I’m walking around with 170 mastery points.

Okay, tell me where to get my MP’s. I have every VB adventure to at least silver. SS is the only AB I don’t have silver on. TD I’m in a similar position.

Shooting gallery at least is entertaining, although I have no idea how to upgrade my silver to a gold.

Sanctum scramble is just endless restarts because the game decided you clipped a corner or you bounced off an overhang or it refused to register your keypress or your foot wasn’t where the graphics said it was or…

I too would love to know the answer to this. I doubt I can get gold on any adventure given that I’m in Australia- I’ve spent days trying. And yes, SS is the worst for me too.

Bugged for me too- “You must have an enemy targeted to use that skill” when he clearly was the target .

All the adventures are fast becoming my most hated thing in game too. Seems no matter how many hours I spend trying, getting silver in most of them is probably not doable for this Aussie

Same issue for me with Alari- spammed /yes and got event credit but no achievement.

EDIT- managed to get this achievement yesterday

Thanks for this post- you saved me the trouble. Ditto, ditto, ditto only difference is I’m on a decent Victorian ISP.

Skill 1 was annoyingly all over the place too- I had more chance using neither of the skills. After approx. 60 attempts, I failed to even finish it.

This is still a problem it seems- tried today for daily and the Cap Hop failed in every respect

Been struggling with it for the past few weeks- have so far resisted the great temptation to throw my pc out the window……..

I too have 508,000/508,000 and a mastery point but it won’t unlock.

Having the same issues on my first day in HoT. Crashes and freezes on xp gain, fighting and vista so far. + poi’s…..

Played in Verdant Brink for about 5 hours and still haven’t levelled glider basics >.<
