can i have all your gold plz ty
Yes you can. But I have to notify you that I will need an intial deposit of 900.000.000 copper and 12x stacks of globs of ectoplasm in order to unfreeze my assets invested in the offshore hedgefund of a prominent nigerian skritt. Said skritt will only accept copper, following certain traumatising events endured in Auric Basin after which he will not accept anything “too shiny”.
Looking forward to your kind reply.

i dont have that much gold or ecto, but i guess u can leave the game and keep ur gold if u dont want to give it away. have fun.
No. You can’t have it. It’s mine. Not yours. Mine. I’ll just login to count it, and think how happy you could have been, then logoff and think of you. And how sarcasm is wasted on you.

It is I want to use weapon x, trait line a, and class 1 and it isn’t optimal foe pvp therefore the game isn’t balanced.
You’ve pinned one of the main problems right there: they didn’t create PvP versions of the skills (and traits).
Nearly every post I see complaining about build diversity isn’t from someone saying they have mastered all the classes and are bored that they only have a couple optimal builds.
I hope you are a dude that’s played pvp more than 20 games. There’s always some guy that’s played 4 years of WvW and a handful of conquest matches coming down here to explain things to people that do nothing but sPvP. But assuming you’re not that guy, then you understand sPvP is a world of its own. I’ve invested at least a few hundred matches in 7 out the 9 professions, and honestly I do complain quite a lot about the lack of build diversity.
Because, you see… “build” diversity doesnt mean CLASS diversity. It means that every time I see a dude standing on a capture point in Foefire (also sick to my stomach of the same 3 maps btw), i can immediately assume with good certainty what skills are on his skillbar and in what order he’s gona push dem buttons.
Sometimes he’s gona fake pushing that CC button and sheath his weapon, other times he’s gona dodge my CC, but it’s pretty much the same brainfart for 7 minutes.
And you might easily shut off my rant with a very convenient and predictable “then go play some other game”, the truth being that this game has a good combat system which I enjoy and there is nothing else better as an alternative, which is a sad sad reality.
Of course I could just go outside and enjoy the summer sun and beach and waves and girls, which I think is exactly what I’m going to do. Arenanet, you’ve lost yet another faithful customer to the cunning deceptiveness of summer and boobs
Man time to make the most important decision in your life.
Hardcore spvp players play Unranked. Fast queue, better matching with people of your skills level, make all the differences…
But you know what? There is way more people that play different build in unranked.
Sayain (sp..!) is still playing burn guards, for Christ Sake!
Chaith play a druid build that seems less bunky but more damaging than meta build… Oh ho! Yeah hundred of great players still play Guild Wars 2 with their own build, homebrew and minor changes to WINS into unranked.
But… well, be sure it’s good before doing that… I hate losing, unranked is not for casual anymore. It’s Ranked queue for bad casual players right there.
So, it’s time to work on your unranked MMR and get to play with the real spvp players out there.
Cheers! And yes… this was the best decision in my 4 years playing Gw2. I did found that the mode I like, is better than the supposed to be “competitive” mess we got in rank luring all bad players from unranked!
Super… awesome move, I will never use a backpack anyway. I am a skin user.
Look, it’s not like your cheerful enthusiasm is gona change the reality here. The reality being that non-meta weapons are MUCH worse than the meta ones. I dont care about you giving as example professional esport players. Those examples mean zero. Those guys would likely win matches while carpet-riding.
The way GW2 skill system was built doesn’t help either, since your most important skills you have to choose them in blocks of 3 or 5, and kitten you if you wanted that meteor shower coupled with dragon’s breath.
The point is that no matter how long you play, at one moment in time you’re gona realise how much more this game could be if they 1) make ALL weapons competitive or 2) unlock the skills from the weapons, and perhaps, just perhaps, you’d be on your way to having 10% of the cool skill system GW1 had.
bitter vet rant over/come at me newbros
OP, why not playing something else than Ele, for a change? (I would love more viable options for each classes, but since this is not the case… why don’t you try something else?)
Like I say at the end of my post, I play different classes. Ele, necro, revenant, warrior, guardian.
But overall it feels like 1 class = 1 build right now. I cant surprise anyone if I use a non-meta build because I’ll either get melted by condi pressure or I wont live enough to kill a bunker engineer.
Of course on the other hand I pretty much know by heart all the enemy rotations, but does that sound like a fun game to you?
Hi. So I’ve played a few thousand matches in the 1 and half years since I’ve started GW2. Yeah, pvp is what I enjoy mostly in this game.
I just want to express my feelings as a “not so new” pvper: I’m getting really bored with the absolute lack of build diversity available.
I’ve had time to play through a good number of different metas, and it’s the same roundabout every time. The developers tweak this trait and that class, creating a new status quo, where unless you adapt and play the flavors of the month, you might as well go pve with that non-meta attrocity you barfed out.
Is it really that much to ask to make the elementalist’s scepter and staff builds stand a chance? Or the hammer on the revenant or the greatsword on warrior and guardian ?
I’m honestly not playing ranked anymore because I just cant see the same skills on my ele, necro and other characters, and I dont want to impose my “bad builds” on players in ranked. I’m so bored of this lack of diversity I’m already looking to better shores.
Rant over
I’m leaving. The game is keeping on a direction I hate. Was hoping for some more mature and evolved feel to it, but its become pretty much a game for pre-schoolers and mariokart kids.
But I’m absolutely convinced more people have played Guild Wars 2 than have ever played Guild Wars and that there are more people playing Guild Wars 2 right now than there were 3.5 years into Guild Wars 1’s life cycle.
Can I prove it? Nope. But it seems very likely.
We have had a dev say there are more Guild Wars 2 PvP players at one point than there were during the entire run of Guild Wars 1, or something to that affect anyway.
GW2 has sold around 5 mil and totalling about 7 mil accounts INCLUDING free to play accounts. GW1 has sold 6.5 mil, all paying accounts, which I regret telling you, it means the first game still outperforms the second by about 1.5 mil copies – not that your population pointing means anything relevant to the game’s actual quality

sorry, you’re right, deep down I must’ve been harboring the eternal hope that some of the original style would make a return. I’ve replayed GW1 recently and just felt disappointed of how different the sequel turned out.
The candy corn and outfit sillyness in GW1 was fine because those werent the base styles of the characters. Here the constant exposure to badly drawn charrs and asuras with goggles and wings and childish weapons makes me sick to the stomach. And I wish it didnt because I had a good time with the pvp, regardless of being unable to play the same 3 maps again without throwing up, as well as the blatant failure of developers to promote class and build diversity, simply reshuffling the skills every 4 months. Pve and main story are completly unengaging. A few maps are cool and that sums up Pve.
You had something awesome with the original GW, lore and style wise. I’m just sick of wings, glitters, pink charrs asuras everywhere. This game has become pre-school material and I cant take the direction it’s going. Pvp: 3 maps rotating literally. Pve main story: theres’a dragon, need to kill it, period pretty much. Totally cliché and uninteresting considering the amazing lore from first game.
Was waiting with great hopes it would gradually get some more “mature” breath of life into it. Not even sure why call it GW2 since it shares nothing of the original style and vibe. GG im out. Flame away.
There’s somthing i dont understand. From the latest Developer AMA on Reddit on March 5 Anet seem to confirm your match making rating is only used to create YOUR team.
cit: “Right now, for the purposes of matchmaking, MMR is currently used when searching for players to be on your team (unless you’re in a pre-made group, of course)”
here is the summary: http://dulfy.net/2016/03/05/gw2-reddit-developer-ama-summary/#sPvP
Your team. That means it does NOT use your mmr to also look for opponents that are similar to your level. In that case on the other side you can get whatever.
If this is the case then forgive me but this doesnt seems like they put more than 10 mins of thought into it and I’m taking a hike. Someone please clarify this. Thanks
I’d like to report something that’s happening to my elementalist in pvp regularly, almsost every match. Sometimes during intense moments of match, when there’s high spamming of skills, I find my character unable to move. I can use skills but i can not move around.
This problem seems to go away when I get moved by some other force, like another player using CC on me.
Unfortunately I havent figured out if there’s a certain sequence of skills or events that trigger this.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I endorse this product
I’ve played sPvP for the last 6-8 months, and I love it, but I’m still on the way to becoming a good player. So here’s my question: if you play different classes, how do you choose which class is best for what map?
What is the thought process that you put into choosing a class for a specific map, and if you have randoms in your team, how do you decide which class is best for the team? (are there rules like dont stack too many of this and that?). I’m really interested to know how some players just see the map and team comp and instantly go “changing to xyz class”.
Hi, anybody knows of communities/servers/guilds that hold Tangled Depths Chak Gerent event regularly ? (I am on EU)
Thanks
Crowd control vs non stompable bunker wars.
The critical factors of this meta: bunkering, CC, stealth insta rez. 1v1 right now is about calculating how many points you’re gona waist/win by staying on cappoint with that immortal bunker, or if you’re better off just going elsewhere.
my friend if you give a chance to PvP you’ll discover an vast new experience to explore and progress through. PvP in GW2 is very exciting and challenging, its one the best Ive ever played honestly. Great fusion of tactical and action.
And as you go further on, you’ll feel the desire to explore all the classes of the game and understand them all so you and your team can sinergise and dominate in the arena. It’s great fun, try it!
I’d like to add my 2 copper to the lot
Write your intentions in team chat before match start
Your team can only benefit the more you communicate and when roles/positions are assigned. Dont be shy, be one of the bunch.
Understand well your build and role
If you are an auramancer Tempest, or a boon signet Revenant, or a Druid heavily focused on healing, your place is most likely in the big fight. A capable player running a support build can probably fair very well in duels or aggressive capping as well, but its potential is wasted as his value is greatly superior when fighting together with 2 or 3 allies. Know your role, and understand what you bring to the field.
If you’re running dangerously low on health in the middle of the fight: DISENGAGE!
It’s the best decision- try to anticipate the outcome of the fight. If you run away from the field, contrary to common belief you’re not a coward. You take time to replenish your health and avoid the 30-60 seconds you loose when you die, plus the 5 points your enemy wins for killing you.
Use your UI tools!
The map and team health bars are your most valuable information. Learn to read them, and make a habit of looking at them often. If you’ve just respawned and see 3 other team mates health to zero, stop. Don’t rush to mid. Look at the map and understand where everyone is headed, regroup. Dont initiate the 1v4 kill/spawn roundabout. The reason why many new players blindly jump to their death is lack of interface usage.
Choose and FOCUS on a target
Probably the biggest setback during a fight is having every team member engaging a different opponent. It doesnt matter if you are outnumbering the enemy. You will loose. Open your keyboard settings window and assign your key to Target a chosen enemy. The rest of the team will see a crosshair on the target’s name and will be able to assist. This should be the first thing you do when starting an engagement. Choose a new target when the previous is dead/downed or has fled the battle.
Don’t fight between points, unless…
If your intention is to capture a certain point on the map, head there and dont fight along the way. Fight on top of the point as much as possible to maximize your team score. The exception to this is the other side of the medal: if you see an enemy heading to one of your points, it is a good decision to intercept them on the way and force them into a fight off the point you are holding, negating him a chance to decap your point.
Going all 5 at mid (so zero at close or far) at match start can sometimes be a good decision
You are very likely to win the initial 5v4 or 5v3, permitting you to easily take back close while the enemy is slowly respawing 1 by 1. You might sacrifice a few points initially but can result in having your full team alive and ready to control the rest of the match.

thanks!
This question is addressed to Arenanet primarily: will there be a 2015 WvW tournament? I really hope so, it’s my first year playing this game and me and my guild mates would be so thrilled to be in the tournament.
I’ve just read some worrying comments around the forums that Anet is not bringing back WvW tourneys. is it true?
If not this fall then soon next year hopefully?
Hi, after reading a bit I decided to give it a try. Applied on forums
Hi, I’m looking for a nice group to Pvp with, I’ll contact you ingame
Hi, sounds like an interesting group The thing is I am Europe timezone. Do you guys have some EU coverage as well?
Hi, I’m looking for a pvp oriented guild. Im from Europe, are you guys only North American timezones, or also have some EU coverage?
By the way, have you guys tried using arcane power with the arcane crit trait and 33% to burn in fire? Hit arcane power and drakes breath and it gives 10 stacks of burning instantly. Also, it’s even more amazing when you use Arcane wave also for an extra burning stack,,,,,, I could reach 12-13 stacks by doing this all :-))
I’m running that build D/F with arcane power, glyph of elemental power and arcane trait. Huge burning power, less longevity than yours. Its very situational. It can level the field if you arrive on a big brawl. I pop glyph and arcane, drop flamewall in middle, pop fire shield, hurl w/ burningspeed in there then drakes breath and its just a mess :p
A very fun build but stay away from 1v2s :p
Hi, I play elementalist, I’m rank 39 and i’d like to join a guild that’s into sPvP. Hit me up for a chat if thats you
