It’s disappointing, yes. I’m not a fan of many of the original legendaries and was eagerly waiting for the next set to be released. However, I understand the reasoning and agree it’s better to focus on the bigger picture and work on the LS.
Thank you for communicating, even when it’s bad news.
Spiraling down into the canyon, I was teleported to an open area completely surrounded by vines, with no way to get out and try again.
You can get out – there is a spot where you can jump on the vines and jump over them. It only took a few seconds to find.
Not my favorite achievement, but it wasn’t all that difficult, just annoying.
I have nine 80s, one of which I created a month ago, and I’m currently leveling a tenth (which I plan on leaving at 50 so I can get lower level mats).
I didn’t have any problems with the NPE and would gladly level another one. I might try leveling another ele, since I found I learned a lot about my mesmer by leveling a second.
I generally like the new dailies, but was surprised to see two fractal options for PvE. I did the WvW options instead, then decided to try the fractal one since I want Mawdry eventually anyway. It was no where near as bad as I thought it would be. I can’t say I’d like to only have two PvE options everyday, but having it occasionally wouldn’t be the end of the world. I’ll probably try fractals more often now that I have a little experience with them.
I got a Ranger to level 80 after the April patch. I did not do EotM, tomes or crafting for levels. I did open world PvE. I managed to unlock a total of (I believe) 4 traits playing how I wanted. One of those happened to be a useful trait. I’ve gone out of my way to cobble together something like a useful build, but it hasn’t been fun. Especially knowing that I’ll have to do the exact same things again if I want to roll another alt, which I don’t. Not anymore.
I’ve actively discouraged my friends from getting the game. I haven’t spent money on gems since April. It’s not extreme, it’s honesty. I’m not even getting my dailies done anymore, and I have plenty of characters with all their traits. But for me, the fun part was making, leveling, outfitting and building new characters. This has had a severely negative impact on my experience of the game.
You must be skipping huge sections of the game then. I just leveled a mesmer and I was constantly getting traits unlocked without even trying. Kill a world boss? Trait unlocked. Open a hidden chest? Trait unlocked. Help a small group kill a champ? Trait unlocked. Capture a tower in EotM? Trait unlocked.
I’m not saying the system is perfect. Several, such as those tied to map completion, killing the grub in wvw, the personal story requirements, etc, are a bit outrageous and need to be reworked.
With the help of some friends or guildmates though, quite a few of the traits can easily be unlocked within a few days. And those you don’t or can’t unlock, you can save up to buy later.
I’d love to join as a student. I’m on TC, Alaska time zone. I’d like to gain experience with both fractals and dungeons; the only dungeon I’ve done so far is Arah story mode. I have an 80 in each profession and am willing to use whichever one people prefer.
I love that we can wear outfits in combat now. My witch’s costume is perfect for my necro and dyed white looks amazing on my female asura mesmer. Plus the devil horns fit my asura thief perfectly.
I’ll be playing as much as before, possibly more. I love the account wide World XP, so I’ll be playing a wider variety of classes in WvW. I also really like the new trait system, so even though I already have 8 80s, one of each class, I’m creating a brand new character to level up again.
I’m really enjoying this change. Have already unlocked several traits just by playing the game. Partied up with some people searching for the Ship of Sorrows and we had a blast exploring the area. Plus, there is another bonus achievement just for reaching the chest.
I hope we see more content added like this in the future!
WvW is a team orientated game. There are lots of ways individuals can and do help out. However, attempting to level your character at the detriment of your server isn’t going to win you many friends. Grabbing a ram or hopping on the only siege in a keep when you aren’t traited is hurting your team’s chance of succeeding.
A few tips for helping both yourself and your server:
1) Mesmers are perfect for killing sentries and yaks. Even better, grab a buddy and start flipping camps. You’ll be gaining XP and helping your server.
2) Start putting all your points in either arrow or treb mastery. The poison/supply drain trait for trebs is amazing; you’ll tag dozens of people plus help your team out. Just be willing to jump off if the siege if the commander needs one of the higher level traits (which isn’t very often with trebs or arrow carts).
3) Run supply. This doesn’t mean taking supply from a keep to repair a wall that’s being trebbed. I mean actually run to a camp and back, then fix gates/walls that were being damaged in a fight. This is a slower method, but if the keep is still contested, you’ll be rewarded each time the timer ends. Again, this is a win/win for you and your server.
If you look around, there are many other ways to both level up and help your server out. Just keep in mind if you go the selfish route, your team has every right to be frustrated. If you aren’t helping them when they need it, don’t expect them to help you when you need it.
Once. My first character, an ele, did the personal story where you had to kill all the destroyers to help the skritt. I was barely at level to do it, and hadn’t bothered to replace my old gear yet. I was too stubborn to leave and go gear up correctly, so I ended up just replacing my broken armor with random pieces I had from loot drops.
This may be why I hate all skritt…
Even though I play PvE and WvW exclusively, I think this is an awesome reward for the tournament. The winners will definitely have earned it!
It’s sadly hilarious that when they were deciding which trait to tease us with, they thought this was the one that would make rangers excited. Maybe they decided to go with the worst just so that we’ll be pleasantly surprised for once?
That’s what happened to me. Came for the map completion, stayed for the fun.
1) Rangers
2) Elementalist
3) Engineer

Or they can just nerf the new tequatil so that the open world content is there for everyone who wants to participate in it and doesn’t require specialized guilds and VOIP.
Voice comms and specialized guilds aren’t needed to beat Teq. Once you know who needs to be where, any large group of people can do it via map chat.
I like killing Teq, so I did join TTS because my server doesn’t do it very often. However, I’ve ended up in unorganized overflows several times and still seen it accomplished.
I don’t think the original bosses with the same mechanics should be kept around. The Shatterer and SB are ridiculous right now – just stand in one place and spam 1. They both need to be upgraded and made less boring.
I do think when they make changes for future bosses, they need to make the first phase easier. I know it can be demoralizing for new people trying it out to fail without even passing the first part.
And believe me, I understand the idea of “proving you were there”, I don’t necessarily disagree with it.
Whereas I don’t care at all about proving I was there and want to be able to sell all my account bound minis. I have no interest in minis and would love to be able to pass them onto people who want them. Making so many minis account bound is one of my least favorite changes from GW1 to GW2.
Most WvW players knew going in this would be a ‘two blues and a green’ type reward. It’s been a running joke the entire season. Anyone who honestly expected more hasn’t played much WvW. Or was incredibly naive.
Most of these were doable with little to no effort. However, some were ridiculous.
The merc camp one required not only getting in EB, but then having to deal with the PvE events stuck there. Sure, I could spend a several hours with a small group flipping those, but for what purpose? Those camps are only helpful in battle in certain situations. I’d rather actually be playing WvW, not fighting NPCs.
The sentries were the most annoying – people would disregard the commander’s instructions to skip it, then cause us to wipe because they weren’t where they were suppose to be.
The ruins were a joke. I wasted a few hours one day just running in circles capping them. I doubt very many people actually tried to strategically accomplish this one.
Dolyak kills was perfect for small roaming groups, though I saw way too many people gaming the system just to get it done. Kill the dolyaks, leave the camp. Run to the next camp, kill the dolyaks. Run back to the first camp, and repeat. While this was marginally useful for the server, it would have been better if they had taken the camp for PPT and supplies.
Demolition Expert was buggy for me. I’d get on a treb, knock down a wall, then go help take the keep and still not get the achievement. I tried rams, catapults, FGS, in a party, and all I was able to get was 10. Thankfully I had the JPs so it wasn’t a huge deal, though I would have liked those achievement points.
I would love it if they could come up with some sort of achievement that promoted defending places. I don’t come to WvW to just run around flipping abandoned towers.
Server: TC
League: Gold
Enjoyed Season 1: Yes
Should we have season 2?: With changes. As others noted, certain achievements need to be changed or removed. They promoted bad play which lead to issues within the community.
I’m not a huge mini fan. I hate getting a mini that I know people want that I won’t use. I’d love to be able to sell it, but if that’s not possible for whatever reason, could we at least have a way to gift it to someone? I’d rather give it away than destroy it.
All this whining over something that is practically useless in WvW. No one in WvW actually needs ascended items. They have little impact in ZergvZerg. They won’t help build siege or repair structures. It’s highly doubtful you’ll need them in small roaming groups, especially as half the players you’ll stumble across won’t even be level 80s.
Getting laurels has always been easy in WvW. Sure, you can’t get them solely killing other players, but WvW has always been partially PVE. It take five minutes to gather and craft stuff that can be used in WvW. You can easily kill a variety of creatures in minutes as you run from point A to point B. The fact that you don’t want to do this is irrelevant. If you want rewards, you have to do some work for them.
And for those complaining it will take to long, it’s okay to have long term goals. Really. You don’t always need everything immediately. GW1 had armor that took years to get. Be glad they are not taking that route with GW2 (though I personally wish they had more long term goals).
Is there anyway to make the forums redirect to the appropriate page after logging in?
For example, I often read on other sites and open links to here in another tab. However, if I’m not logged in I get redirected to the main page after logging in. I then have to go back to the original sites and re-find the links that had failed to load properly.
The Mouth and all enemies are dead. The only NPCs around are the three remaining Pact squad. The current objective is ‘Escape from Kitah Manse. ’ However, when I run through the falling rocks and get back to the very first door, it won’t open (a popup says something like it won’t budge). I tried talking to each of the three soldiers, but they don’t do or say anything. There aren’t any other visible NPCs anywhere.
If there is another way out, I’m missing it. I’ve searched the rooms and jumped up and down everywhere.

I’m stuck trying to escape after completing the mission – is there a way out besides the main door? When I try to open it, the popup says the door won’t budge.
Talk about leading questions. eyeroll
1. I will buy them again.
2. Yes.
3. N/A, since I would buy the keys.
4. Yes
5. No
6. No rare skins, but I was happy with the tonics, boosts, etc. I was also happy using these in the mystic forge, where I mostly received crafting materials.
