Returning player here.
I haven’t actually played GW2 since shortly after the release of HoT. However, I always knew I’d come back someday, so I made it a point to log in every single day. It took just a few seconds of my time to do so, and in doing so I not only secured the daily log in rewards for my account, but I also unlocked the living story chapters as they became available.
I know you think it’s unfair, but from my perspective, I don’t see what the problem is. Again, I hadn’t played in ages and even I knew that the Living Story content was unlocked by logging in at that time. Even if I hadn’t logged in for the login rewards, I still knew about the Living Story updates through emails and social media posts, so I could have just logged in then to unlock it.
As far as feeling left behind, I didn’t time myself but I was able to get all the Living Story done within a few weeks of fairly casual play. Of course that was just the story itself, not 100% on the maps or getting all of the achievements.
My desire to play any game as long as a lot of people play MMO’s has withered.
This is a big part of why I stopped playing for so long, which was well over a year. Life has changed, and I just don’t have the same amount of free time as I did 5-10 years ago, and the free time that I do have is frequently interrupted. The bottom line is that I simply can’t commit the hours into a game to really connect with the social aspect or large group content. And since that’s a big part of MMOs, I started playing games where I could play for 5-10 minutes at a time, and then go do something else if I had to.
The one thing GW2 has going for it compared to other MMOs is that many things are easily soloed, or drop-in/drop-out. So when I heard about the new expansion, I knew I wanted to start playing again, even if I don’t really have the time to do so. I’ll just have to do the content in small pieces, and it might take me a year to finish it!
Returning player here. I think the game runs fine, way better than it did at launch. The x64 client was a huge improvement, and it eliminated the only frequent crashes I ever experienced, which was when 3 zergs would meet in WvW. I’m not sure what other changes took place while I was gone, but it runs much smoother than I remember, even if the framerate still drops during huge battles.
If you want to see unstable, try playing Overwatch. That’s what I played while I was on hiatus from GW2, and while it has been a fun game, I’ve never seen a game more sensitive to connection issues. The slightest hiccup in your connection, and you’re knocked offline and locked out of competitive for the next 10 minutes. GW2 is rock solid by comparison.
Also confirming Unholy Sanctuary trait for necromancer is broken. Does not drop player into Death Shroud upon a lethal blow. The healing portion of the trait still appears to work, however.
Oceanic presence? huh yeah you must be talking about our NA late crew. And yeah, even with your not so obvious 2v1 against us, it took hours to you to cap our keep.
Oh but you’re missing the point. The point is that SBI and us on CD had a butt ton of fun
it doesn’t matter if we ended up 2v1ing or anything, fact is that we were laughing the entire time we were playing
I haven’t had that much fun in a while. Still not sure why SoS didn’t just go around us though, but it was worth it for the laughs.
Definitely bugged on Stormbluff Isle still. Only one tear that I can see.
Checked out Sea of Sorrows per above comment, not only did it have all tears but a guild was actively working on it and got through in moments.
I concur. He truly is the greatest!
Classy and pointless, considering how fast I had that thing muted.
Just realized that I hadn’t yet completed the “Meet the hosts” achievement. Apparently they’re all supposed to be on that platform in the Grand Plaza, but it appears some captains are missing and replaced by generic Lionguard NPCs.
First attachment from Dulfy.net, 2nd is my own screen shot. In particular, Captain “Bonny” and Captain Tokk appear to be missing.
Were they removed intentionally and is this no longer completable or is this a bug?
Edit: On a whim I went and talked to the generic Lionguard and the achievement progressed as normal although it was standard Lionguard responses. So while the NPC appearance is bugged, the achievement progression itself is not.

For people who aren’t familiar with SBI, I’ll explain a bit. We have no major WvW guilds, and while we have guilds with a greater presence in WvW than others, they’re all PvX and they don’t have a presence all days of the week. We are a group comprised of the surviving players from when every major WvW guild left the server in December and early January.
Trimmed the quote for brevity, but I couldn’t agree more, especially with the above. I was in the middle of taking a break from the game when the exodus happened, and prior to that I had such limited play time that most times I would never get out of the queue and into WvW.
I’m happy to finally be able to play, but the exodus means that our overall skill, however high it may be, is spread relatively thin. I’m not sure if that makes us unique among the servers or not, as I don’t pay much attention to such things: I just enjoy good battles.
That said, I’ve had a ton of fun with this match up and will be sad when it ends. I especially love the attitude everyone has shown, both in this thread and during battle. Hope to face both of you again soon!
Unusual for them to say nothing. At least all the times I’ve been on when something has gone awry, there’s been a response here, Facebook, or Twitter within minutes.
For some strange reason all our maps are queued and our TS is full… Hmmm..
Your number is awesome! I can’t imagine how many people are playing WvW in your server. First time I saw you guys on EB I froze.
You want to know what’s even scarier? Our numbers pale in comparison to some servers.
Absolutely glad to be fighting someone else this week, there were a lot of great battles from everyone. Keep it up!
WvW is a lot of fun, but it also takes a little while to figure out. Honestly I didn’t know about the supervisor buff until I had been playing for some time, although back in those days it was possible to slowly damage him with a big enough zerg. At the time I thought he scaled like a PvE boss and that was the reason it sometimes took forever to bring him down.
The right thing to do would have been to advise you of the buff and explain further if necessary, all in a much nicer manner. I do this a lot myself, and I know I’m not the only one. But there are people who have issues and love to be unkind to others, I suggest you ignore them and utilize the block list if necessary.
I’m about 6 hours late, not sure if anyone has responded to you in game yet, but Legendary Karma is recruiting. If you’re interested, send me a PM in game and I’d be happy to help a new player out.
Somewhat related to this suggestion, I was just talking to a friend the other day about how there are a lot of people out there who seem to think that “everyone” goes to bed (or should) at some arbitrary time, despite the fact that there are countless doctors, nurses, emergency workers, police, and general insomniacs who are awake during “bedtime”.
That having been said, getting kicked out of WvW at any time would be unacceptable. From the sounds of it, I’m not even logging into Guild Wars 2 until the original poster is sound asleep.
So basically you either need to invest in two more monitors or make your game window ugly in order to win the game of Arrow Cart Wars 2.
I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been hit from behind a wall by an arrow cart that was placed right against that wall. The first time it happened I just died, didn’t even try to run or heal, simply because I was trying to figure out what was happening.
Why even jeopardize your account with a zoom hack when the game itself allows such behavior natively?
As was just mentioned, loot bags can be terribly hard to see, especially during the chaos of battle.
Regardless of whether or not being grouped = more loot, I like to be in a group anyway. If nothing else, it makes it easier to see each other both on the map and within a larger group of players. Personally though, I do feel that I see more bags dropping and XP numbers popping when I’m grouped up.
even without the tag, you can tell based off armor.
With transmutation stones, that’s hardly a sure thing. Every single one of my characters has transmuted exotics. Even back in Guild Wars I ran mostly the level 20 versions of noob armor.
A friend of mine missed out on a steel chest last night for this very reason. I’m not sure if it’s an intended mechanic to deny the losers of a battle the majority of their loot, but that’s the end result.
Everyone always disagrees with me on this but I’ve always felt that the loot in general is very hard to see unless you’re right on top of it. In GW1 you could see a drop from an impressive distance and of course there was the chat log to advise you. During the betas and first few weeks of play I missed tons of loot until I trained my brain to notice the comparatively faint sparkle effect.
What a joke.
lol. just lol.
Straight up “LOL” status. No other way to describe it.
I don’t get onto this or any other GW2 forums much, but a friend of mine brought this to my attention a few weeks ago, and so I’ve spent a little bit of time reading up on the controversy.
I think it would be an awful shame to ignore Cantha entirely. Out of all the Guild Wars content, the Factions expansion was my absolute favorite. In fact due to my time spent in Alliance Battles and Fort Aspenwood/Jade Quarry, I think it’s safe to say I spent more time in Cantha than the other three parts of the game combined.
I’m glad to see I’m not alone in my love for Cantha, and with this much of an outcry for a return there, I think it’s safe to say there’s no question if we’ll return, it’s merely a question of when. And I’m looking forward to the inevitable Living Story where the Great Collapse is rebuilt.
Apparently me as well. Quit playing for about two months and when I came back, noticed I was getting a lot of achievements.
I noticed this as well, and thought it was just me. I also have GW2 installed to my SSD, but suddenly my load times are comparable to beta, when I had it installed to my RAID of older mechanical drives.
Well, that would appear to be the case. Since my sPvP experience begins and ends with using the Mists as a shortcut to Lion’s Arch, I had never even looked at that armor to see if it had runes.
Thanks!
First of all, I’m not entirely sure if this is a bug or if I’m misunderstanding how runes work. I was under the impression that you added runes to armor pieces, and for each identical rune, you gained another effect, up to 6/6 possible effects. So imagine my surprise when I noticed mine was sitting at 12/6.
I took all my armor off, and when I did that, it claimed 6/6 when I hovered over each piece that wasn’t on my character. Put one back on, it went to 7/6, and so forth until all pieces were back on and I was at 12/6 again.
Out of curiosity, I put two cheap minor runes on some junk armor, and they behave as I expected, giving 0/2 when not worn and 2/2 when worn.
It would appear that the game seems to think I already have all 6 runes on even when I’m not wearing anything. I attached a couple screenshots, showing the same armor piece with all armor on and all armor off.
You can still get out, just not as easily.
I found the rooms with the faces to be very interesting. The textures and overall style suggested to me that it was something worked on early in the game, almost a “Guild Wars 1.5” look if you ask me. But that’s just a personal theory and not based on any known fact. Regardless, I love getting to the out of the way places and seeing if there’s anything tucked away at the far corners of the game.
Well, to be more accurate, my guild mate saw him first. But he’s there, in Guild Wars 2, for all to see!
Also, he’s watching you.
