This probably won’t get read by ANet, but just in case…
It’s just too wacky. A lot, almost all, of the gemstore armors are just… What? I am an impulsive buyer, I like my characters to look good. But sadly there just haven’t been any sets put out that don’t make me look like Lord of Admirals God King Slayer Titan Rider, or part of an elaborate circus act.
Please consider adding armors that.. Well… Someone would actually wear. There are a few Light, Medium, and Heavy armors from launch that are down to earth and look good. Nothing like that since.
Also if you want to make some money, add a light/medium/heavy armor skin of the thief starter hood. Seriously. I will buy ten.
The Elementalist forums always make me sad.
We’re like the abused step child of the profession it seems. Honestly if they actually balanced the class, we’d probably pillage kitten after struggling tooth and nail to even equal the potential of other option all these months.
I wanted to go for an armored battlemage look. Light on my feet, but protected. (d/d all the way!) So I kept the dredge coat as sort of a flak jacket type thing with the rest of the set. I think it came out nicely.
Can we possibly get a dev’s clarity on this? I’m a little confused as to why there is such a massive gap between light armor and everything else here. I can only assume it might be some sort of bug, why else would it be the case I wonder.
I’m actually really happy with two of the three male faces. I wished for some more freaky looking faces, and the one without a nose is just perfect, for me. :> (I don’t like the one with the big eyes, though. It looks too “cute” for my tastes, and a bit out of place, even if it’s quite alien-looking.)
I love the fact that they’ve added more variety for the males.
This. I always imagined tree people being a bit more crude and ugly, so this sort of scarred, noseless alien-esque (i’ll stop making words I promise) face is a wonderful step in the right direction. The bark face was my favorite because it was one of the very, very few that didn’t look like a teenage boy. Now a contender arises!
Apparently it gave “bunker ele” way too much mobility.
Fix? Nerf RTL for every kind of build, even if you were not playing the infamous bunker ele (0/10/0/30/30). Some people also hated the fact that ele “could get away from everything”.
It’s a balancing disgrace. Even more now that you get people like Warriors that can do the same with less effort, why aren’t those getting nerfed as much?
RTL nerfs should be reverted.
Here here! “Too much mobility,” well with the smallest health and damage pools in the game, that’s what keeps us alive half the time! Getting ‘away from everything,’ is like our signature survival tactic. We HAVE to be slippery and hard to pin down. Yet like you said, warrior can run way better than we ever could hope to now, yet they ALSO have massive health, toughness, and damage – Ridiculous! GS + bull charge + sword lunge and you’ve outran every other class in the game (I have one, I know).
Still playing my ele main, holding onto a shred of hope the patch today doesn’t completely bork me, and a smaller shred that we’ll one day be a class on par with the others.
500 Armorcraft
500 Leatherwork
500 Tailor
Been updating those since September. Prices were ~50-70 before Gossamer spiked.
Thank you for this, big time. That price is very reasonable. I can work with this.
If they changed the light armor I would no longer wish to get it. Strange, I know.
With it arriving on the 10th, how many people are happy about this new (I am assuming) grind?
Will it be something you work towards? Is it a step in the wrong direction in terms of time investment/enjoyment, or welcomed?
Will you work towards the armor due to aesthetics? Does the design encompass what you would expect of the “high-end” gear treadmill? (Judging by the image posted on the preview page, the armor itself looks lackluster, and imo kinda stupid >.>)
What is your estimation on the overall % for the power creep that will be introduced with this new tier of gear?
and finally: Do you believe this will be the final tier of gear that will be introduced? Or is there speculation that a tier for Legendary, and perhaps even a seperate new tier will be introduced later on in the game’s life?
Most of the armor looks awful, but it just so happens that the light leggings/boots/chest/gloves look fantastic with my setup, not to mention the coat bits don’t poof out ridiculously like they do on most male sylvari armors. Been waiting and saving for this release a long time, so yes I’ll definitely be working toward the pieces mentioned for the looks alone. (though the minor stat increase doesn’t hurt)
Gear treadmills are awful, and I seriously hope ANet stops with it here. We have ascended weapons, we have ascended armor (on the 10th), that’s enough. A full exotic set isn’t hard to come by these days, so the ascended is sort of that final absolute bit of work if you’re so inclined to get the minor increase, without being horribly kitten if you don’t.
I’m a little disappointed with a lot of the armor designs in this game, so I can’t comment on aesthetics to tier expectations without being horribly bias. ANet needs to just straight up copy The Witcher series’ armor designs as much as possible without getting sued. I would buy every kitten set on the gemstore.
The problem is do to slight difference in models between Human and Sylvari. I don’t know much about specifics, only that it ’doesn’t look like something that we can fix.’ I chatted with a dev in game about it months ago.
From my own observations, I’m pretty positive it has at least partly something to do with the male Sylvari stance, being sort of to the side and narrowed. Instead of the clothing scaling accordingly to that slight shift in direction, it instead just poofs outward in the ridiculous fashion we’re familiar with. Where as the Human male has a very squared stance, wider. It’s painfully obvious the Human male rigging came first, then it was tossed on the Sylvari’s different model with little consideration taken for that.
I would swallow my own head in joy if they fixed this, but I’m assuming it would take more work than they’re willing to commit. On the bright side, the new ascended armor leggings don’t poof (outside of the intended italian looking pants bit) ridiculously.
With the recent monthly for crafting, it seems that ascended armor is looking more likely than ever to come out in the December 10th update.
You have no idea how right I hope you are. Been waiting for it since someone posted untextured renders on reddit. I know I won’t get the armor for probably a month after it’s out but the sooner I can even get started the better! Been hoarding Ecto’s and silk forever.
Please do not repeat-post your comments. We are listening, but saying the same thing repeatedly is not helpful. If you’ve posted in any thread on this subject you’ve had your say. “Yea, like I said” or “I demand an answer” isn’t contributing anything at all.
Thanks for understanding.
Hey Gaile, I hope you guys see this.
I just want to say, now would be an excellent time to release the still-for-some-reason-unreleased-in-PvE Rubric set. Granted I’d probably only buy a not flamified version, but it’d be cool anyhow.
•Arcane V – Elemental Attunement. Moved to Master tier.
•Arcane VI – Renewing Stamina. Moved to Master tier.Another nerf to D/D to the level of RTL 200% nerf.
GG if you want all players enjoyng D/D gameplay to quit at all cost you will be sure this time.
RTL was one of the most unfun nerf i ever seen in a game.
This is even worse…for PvE and WWW.I hope you are happy of how much you destroyed those in the sake of your terrible PvP.
If this arrives in PvE i think i ll find the final reson to quit this great game ruined since day 1 patch after patch.
I already quit PvP…i quit WWW and now its time for pve.
Relax man, learn to adapt and try new things. They ain’t trying to ruin any class. They are balancing all over.
:)
It’s true. And again, none of this is final, we could pull things or adjust things still. Just trying to get a sense of what you guys feel with these changes, they’re not set in stone.
I’m no expert on Elementalist builds by any means, but from what I’ve gathered it kind of feels like in trying to open more avenues for builds, D/D is being reduced. Maybe I was playing it horribly, horribly wrong, but the generic D/D bunker build didn’t feel all that OP for it to need this. Or OP at all.
I guess I’ll have to wait and hope something changes between now and December, but I’m not saving very much optimism for my bunker ele. Don’t have the gold, or desire to re-gear and switch builds, only need one more ascended ring to complete the gear set, not changing course now, but if it becomes useless that’s that. I hope you guys work things out and toss us D/D’s a bone, we’ll be thankful!
Hi Chris! I don’t post often, but I’ll just toss my thoughts in here…
Add content every 2 weeks, but (Aside from celebrations/holiday events) do not -remove- content every 2 weeks. This schedule as it is keeps me playing the game, and looking forward to the not so distant future. If I’m not that hyped for a release? That’s fine, 2 weeks isn’t a lot of time to wait for new stuff!
There feels like a massive difference between 2 weeks, and whatever the schedule was before, and how it is in most games. Even if there’s two or so weeks of releases I’m not particularly interested in, there’s usually at least one feature (or class balances) that keep me entertained for the next two weeks. It’s much easier for me to drop a game and move on to bigger and possibly not to much better things when there are moderate dry periods between releases, regardless of the content.
Of course I’m not saying the two week schedule is flawless, as a lot of people have stated, things do move fast. Now content updates coming fast are great, they’re wonderful! But if they poof just as fast along with connected rewards (achievements, items ect.) that negates the benefit those seemingly speedy releases bring. I know you guys have done a lot to address keeping more permanent content in the Living World, and it’s a massive improvement to what it was before, but that being said I think it needs to still take less away with each new release (again, excluding holiday/seasonal events.) If the bulk of new content from a previous release is left in as the new rolls out, people won’t feel like they’re constantly trading content, and instead adding on. You’re two week schedule will feel much more wholesome and grand, and less give and take, which is what I believe some people are having trouble with along with just personally missing out on things.
I can see how there’d be exceptions to some of this, but I trust a studio of many people to delve into and figure out what’s probably best much better than myself. Also before I end this I wanted to say how much I enjoy you guys changing the actual game world preemptively the way you’ve been doing, like Kessex Hills – That was cool. I spent a lot of time leveling several characters in Kessex, and for the first time since Flame and Frost, seeing all the trees cut down, and hearing the busily working Krait, it really gave a sense of foreboding, and feeling things actually were changing. I feel like it will end up being a larger and more in depth version of the Lion’s Arch statue, slowly going from complete destruction into something else for better or worse. I hope you guys continue to do stuff like that, and I seriously look forward it.
If you manage to read this through all the other replies, thanks, and have a good one!

I can’t say this with complete certainty, but apparently you can buy Toxic Seed Chests from glory vendors in spvp for 750 glory a pop. Can only buy 5 a day, and those drop the gasmask, along with the other filter masks skins. The skins aren’t restricted to spvp either, as the filter a guildie got was pve usable as well.
Hope this helps, good luck.
For boon duration, you’ll want 2 sup runes of water, 2 sup runes of the traveler(or monk, if you have the AC tokens), then two major of either.(can’t remember if that last bit is still correct, been a while)
I have the same problem with mine, yet 99% of Asura I see don’t. Some of these Asura have absurdly long ears as well (mine are actually more short). From what I’ve been able to gather (by wasting a makeover kit), it’s determined by ear shape, not length. So the more they’re naturally raised, the more they’ll clip in combat.
Anything at all?
Funny you mention that… there’s like 50x more people in WvW asking why they can’t get dungeon skins for WvW’ing. …guess the grass is just borwner on everyone’s side
But they can actually acquire those skins outside of sPvP. I’d be happy with any manner of them being put into the game, WvW just a suggestion but honestly let’s make this stuff available already.
Why hasn’t the Rubric, Stalwart, and insert medium armor name here, commando? been added to the game outside of sPvP yet? A chest piece from personal story is all there is right now, as I understand it.
A little disappointed they haven’t taken advantage of their WvW badge purchased skins, and added them through that. I’m not sure how complex of a process that’d be, but now that we’ve reached this 1 year milestone (congratulations Anet, and thank you!) I’m wondering if they ever plan to add them at all, or will they just remain this annoying oddity forever.
I believe you are dead-on OP, that is indeed Braham, and that is indeed Rox.
Not sure if the rest understand what concept art is, but I hope they learn one day!
I think this is an issue that should be looked at, especially since the armor is being charged for. ANet is putting forth content more frequently now, which is wonderful – We certainly can use more armors and content in general, and I think the fanbase is very thankful – But let’s not be so thankful that we allow bugs, or possibly shortcomings in effort/design to slip by unchecked.
It would be a shame for GW2 to take turn towards TOR’s new armor philosophy, granted I think that could only happen in a bad nightmare.
Failure to abrogate is to validate.
We’re still here, and we’re still waiting… Politely!
RISE! Anet pls, please fix this.
I did not know this was an issue..
But now that you mention it..
I actually like the puffed out look, will be really sad if it got fixed per the demands of the majority.. Sigh…
The hell?
…. Well you can’t please everyone! But for all of us who play Sylvari and prefer not to have hoop skirts, let’s get this fixed.
Thanks for you support guys! Lets see if we can’t bring this to Anet’s attention.
Good hustle Daecollo! Everyone make sure to post in this thread and the other, I’ll update the OP with links to both!
Rally! Rally Sylvari players!
Keep the thread alive my friends!
Come on Sylvari players, let’s band together and keep this thread alive so Anet can see!
Yes yes yes! Anet, PLEASE
Keep it coming people! This needs to be addressed, and I doubt we’ll get anything with less than a few pages.
Alright, changed the title, but as Kain said, lets keep this thread alive! Come together my disgruntled Sylvari players! How can we be the most fabulous race on Tyria when there’s this annoying bug crap plaguing us specifically?
Alright guys, this is the part where we band together and keep the thread going steady to help get Anet’s attention! If there’s no word after a time, I’ll go ahead and remake this thread somewhere it might get more support.
Yes, this is a problem ALL Sylvari armor. Did you see HoTW Heavy?
Try wielding a Greatsword with T2 Sylvari Heavy pants on.
ANET still hasn’t fixed this bug…
Is it? Well in that case this is more pressing than I thought! We should try and bring this to their attention, maybe enough to get some sort of response.
Anyone else notice it’s poof? It doesn’t go down slick and nice like it does on Humans, it poofs out like a ballroom dress. I have this poor screenshot from GW2armor.com, and you can notice it, but from any other angle aside from straight on it’s really bad noticeable. Annoying.
Is there any chance this will get fixed? I know the odds are low, given how few people use it, but I can hope right?

Still better than ‘Cabbage Ears’, so 6/10
My cycle-of-night thief is called ‘Téadoir’, which means ‘gracious gift’ in Gaelic/Greek
9/10 – I do enjoy names with a lot of thought put into them.
