-repair worked for me too. Thanks.
If you go into your inventory panel you can swap the soulbound equipment (well, weapons anyways, I dont have any armor to test this on). If you double click or right click to equip your weapons, that won’t work.
…. but you can still equip it ….
Ok, you have to go into your inventory and switch them out from that panel. Double clicking or right clicking to equip doesn’t allow them to be swapped out. Thanks for that info!
Happening with exotic weapons as well as masterwork weapons, fine weapons were not affected for me. No rare weapons to try.
ah, thank you for finding that Ellieanna.
Yea, we’ve been careful with the spelling. I’ll try the -repair and see if that works, I thought that only fixed local client issues and I guess I just assumed character deletion would be something on their end. Support just told me to keep trying for three more weeks, and if the character wouldn’t delete to contact them again. Seriously. “We recommend you to try deleting your character at least once every week. If the problem still persists after 3 weeks, please contact us again and let us know so we can further assist you. Thank you for your comprehension while we work on this.” That’s not really very helpful. But maybe the -repair idea will work, I’ll try it this evening. It’s not game-breaking, obviously …. except for me because I have to listen to her complain about not being able to free up that spot for yet another new character that she’s just going to delete … again! Every time she logs on …..
Anyone ever run into this, where you click the delete button after typing in the name, but the character just refuses to delete? Been trying for days on my daughter’s account to delete a level 2 character she made, with no luck. Just wondering if anyone else had come across this before.
I had a great time in the stress test. Beautiful environment and neat creatures. Wyvern battle was very cool. I cannot wait to glide more! Thanks so much for letting me participate in the beta!
This. Very enjoyable.
Thanks for the patch, i (and i supose all of us) can see the mini alot more often now
So far, so good. I haven’t been but to a couple of zones but no nasty messages about being hidden.
Many thanks if this is finally worked out!
What’s insulting is that they’re still selling minis in the gem store with no warning about the lack of usability of said minis.
Just my opinion, but wait to add it to your wardrobe. Minis are essentially useless now because of the feature pack, only able to be used in main cities. If they don’t change the system and you don’t add it to your wardrobe, you can at least sell it. Wishing I hadn’t added my dozens upon dozens so I could at least get use of them some way.
Of course, the ones I paid cash for from the gem shop …….. sigh. Sure wish I could use them as advertised.
4. GM Talonn told us that minis can not be refund or unbound if you don’t like this new intended feature, see: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Customer-Support-9-9-Feature-Build/first#post4380306
What can I do with minis which I can’t enjoy in many pve maps? I bought minis with gems not for completing collection achievements.
Like someone said in another post, vote with your wallet. I’m someone who has no problem supporting the gem store (arguments about where the money actually goes aside) a couple times a month, but until this is fixed ….. no.
It’s laughable that anet billed this feature as really great for mini collectors and users. Every time I go into an explorable area and try to bring out a mini that I paid cash for, I just end up shaking my head in disappointment.
@Brother Grimm: I get your point of view, and do agree that server functionality shouldn’t suffer due to minis, especially when it’s only a select group that really enjoys using them. GW1’s system was, in my opinion, better because if I got in a district with the max number of them out, I could always switch to another district if it was really that important for me to have a mini out and about.
My complaint here, I guess, is that I’ll be in a map asking me to leave because of low population but I still can’t bring the durn thing out. Which if culling was working properly, shouldn’t be an issue I would assume. Especially when this whole mini wardrobe change was supposed to be QoL. It seems to have shafted the people who actually used their minis to begin with. I guess my second part of it is that I’ve spent real money to gems for certain minis and before the patch there were no issues, now I can’t seem to use them whenever I want.
You can see from my post history, I don’t usually post on the forums, and usually I just roll with whatever changes come about (ignorance is bliss, after all!), but this change is just really frustrating to me. And I assume others, but I’m only speaking for myself.
p.s.: yes, that was sarcasm in my reply. I meant it somewhat lightheartedly tho.
Since you can’t use minis in explorable areas anymore, they probably don’t care what she looks like now.
Yup, the minis ppl bought with real money to show off ingame…….don’t show up ingame. Brilliant!!!!
Someone actually thought this was a good idea, that’s the scary part.
Well that’s disappointing. All that hype for the mini QoL changes, I feel rather let down.
……. Glad you found your minis. Of anything I would most hate to lose, that would be it for me.
You haven’t tried using your mini’s in the explorable areas yet, have you?
Any chance you could find out if the mini’s not being seen in explorable areas in a bug that will be fixed or if that’s the way the new system is supposed to work. Silence in the other threads about this. And seeing as there’s new mini’s for sale in the gem shop, I’d hate to drop money on gems to buy them if I can’t see them 90% of the time. Thanks.
Wish we knew if this was a bug that was being fixed or working as intended. If working as intended I’m not sure I’ll spend anymore gems on exclusive mini’s …. I don’t spend enough time in the cities for that.
Whether or not you see your minipet is likely due to how your cullling is set in options.
In my case it’s set to show the highest number of character models with high quality. (Yes my PC can handle this.) Aside from mini pets everything is working exactly as before. I still see just as many people, with detailed models and animations and they load just as quickly ………
Same here.
You can see your own minipet. You won’t see other peoples. I seen my mini pet every time this message popped up.
Culling with Minis works like any other culling in the game you can see your own, so calm down.
I haven’t been seeing mine with this message.
Yes, kinda annoying. Not sure what’s going on with that, because I got the little message to switch servers because I was in a low population map that would close in one hour but still couldn’t bring out mini’s due to high player population.
Hope they work this out.
Hmmm ……. But again, we’re happy to help you if you’d like to change to another Account Name.
Thanks for the reply. I will probably do this, just as a final safety measure. My GW1 account was hacked some years back, so I am probably a bit extra jumpy when it comes to this. That one was my fault, tho … same password and username for game, several forums, email, etc. I learned a hard, but valuable lesson on account security with that episode.
As a follow-up, no more emails asking for password resets. Those two came back to back, within minutes of each other, but nothing else since. Better to be too cautious than not cautious enough, right?
Thanks again for the replies.
So today I found two e-mails telling me that I had asked for my password to be reset for gw2, which I didn’t. Didn’t follow the links, of course, but looking at the emails they did seem to originate from anet. Checked my account management, no unusual logins, have the authenticator installed, and e-mail and game password are unique and not shared with any other games / websites. Only buy my gems from the ingame store, and don’t visit any other fan forums.
My question is, because of the password reset emails, does this mean my account was targeted by someone, or was this just a random attempt with nothing to be concerned about? I’ve gotten the horribly misspelled emails telling me my account is going to be terminated, etc., but this wasn’t like them. As I haven’t sent any emails asking for a password reset, I don’t know what procedures are even followed or what information is needed to even begin the process.
Any insight from others would be appreciated. I’ve taken just about all the steps I know to keep my account safe, which is why these two emails threw up huge red flags.
Thanks.
- And logged into the game after seeing the emails, nothing unusual was found, everything worked like it should.
I downloaded the Google app authenticator and went thru the set-up without any problems. After logging in to my account management page I can see that I have an authenticator linked to my account, current logins, and authorized networks. I expected that on my first login after linking my account and the authenticator I would need to enter in a code or get some kind of email, but I logged in as normal without needing a code for the first time.
My question: is this normal, and since I can see the authorized networks information, can I assume everything is working as it is supposed to? I have no way of logging in from another IP address to check. I couldn’t find anything in the help desk thingamabob.
Anyone know? Hate to make a support ticket just to find an answer for this.

Stormbluff Isle also broken.
Not sure if this is exactly the same issue, but I would get a black screen when loading the character select screen from the log-in screen. It would freeze up and the only way to close would be to hit the reset button on the PC. At first it would do it only once or twice in a while, but the other day it was every time I tried to load the game.
I made sure everything was up-to-date, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, etc etc.
What worked is what Kyllaa said ….. I deleted the local.dat file, which seemed to reset all my graphics, audio, etc. options. But, knock on wood, the game has worked for me since with no problems.
edit: older PC with a GTX460 card but all graphic settings on high, so I didn’t have to reduce any settings once the game started working.
