I gotta disagree w dodgy about the liquid CPU cooler.
As someone who has just buried his main gaming computer last week due to a leak in the liquid CPU cooler I’ve gotta recommend staying away from them. Now I’m on my other computer and Gw2 in groups has the FPS of a slide show.
Water and antifreeze don’t play well with a motherboard and GPU.
Great update! Love saving the inhabitants, the cut scene and the refugee camps outside the city. LA itself looks great.
Permanent consequences based on the story. I just wish our actions directed the story more. The player base driving the story bus instead of riding in it. Still this stop on the story bus is a great one. Keep it up
I had one of my friends over yesterday to have him check out the game. I was wanting him to get a copy and join in. He saw WvW with the current lag…. Now he’s not interested because it was unplayable. Skills taking 2 to 3 secs to activate, rubber banding etc.
I understand that the current ddos maybe out of your control, but if potential solutions (or even if there are none) could be addressed to your customers it would help a lot.
This is a fantastic game and you guys do great work but the current connection issues are already affecting sales, my friend for one did not buy the game because of it.
I’ve got news for you guys, this is bigger than just arenanet…

The lost witch above brings up a very good point in his earlier post.
Player creation needs to play a larger role in the game. For the long term health of the game, sandbox elements need to be incoorporated into as much of the game as possible.
“1.Top 3 supporting functionality ideas (Skins locker, stat swapping, build template..)
2.Top 3 HP content ideas (New weapons skills, skills & traits, Order / Factin expansion, New maps to explore / Zone progression, Louveepine’s Lore codex, Nike’s Patrons of the City..)”
These all look good but in a year we’ll be in the same position we’re at now after this content is fully devoured by the gamers. Therefore sandbox elements need to be incoorperated (especially in light of the upcoming MMOs coming out) and the sandbox skills could be acquired by horizontal progression.
For example-
New maps… Release a relatively undeveloped peice of land to each server. Through PvE quests, battles or NPC interaction a player could develop a skill for this area (Arborist-plant trees, Builder- Build buildings, Gardener- plant plants, philosopher- influence NPC speech, preist- Start temples)
New weapons… The player would interact w NPCs to develop subskills (woodworking, metalsmithing., etc…) You combine these subskills to influence what weapon you make. Also which NPC you got the subskill from would influence the type of woodworking you got. You would combine them (like discovering in crafting) to create new types of weapons.
New skills- See my earlier post on this.
Use the horizontal progression to increase player creativity for sandbox elements and you will extend the life of the game. Other content will be quickly devoured by the player base.

In regards to new skills
Here’s an idea…
New skills could be built by the player based on mastery of certain subskills (learned from NPCs) combined to create a new skill within the home instance.
Let me give an example….
The player learns fire mastery from a certain NPC in the world and later learns whirling dirvish mastery from a seperate NPC and learns jump mastery from another.. He then goes to his home instance (maybe with a dojo in it or something) combines the subskills (like discovery within crafting) and then gets a “whirling fire tornado from above” skill. Combine them in a different order and get a different skill (possibly)
This would increase exploration throughout the PVE world or dungeons (to get to the NPCs), increase the number of unique skills and provide something else to work toward after you’re level 80.

UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT
NC Soft and Joe Vargas AKA angry Joe
Plaintiffs
Vs
Google Inc.
Defendant
Nature of the action
Claim 1: Defendant Google inc, knowingly used the name of NC play as a claimant against the review video of Mr. Vargas without the express written permission of NC soft and therefore violated copyright law.
Claim 2: Defendant Google inc, libeled NC soft by publishing a claim against the review of Mr. Vargas which was not initiated by NC soft, thereby damaging the reputation of NC soft and resulting in lost revenue by NC soft ( see https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/I-ve-bought-my-last-gem/first#post3370672) Defendant is seeking damages for lost revenues.
Claim 3: Defendant Google inc, violated the ability for Mr. Vargas to collect revenue by the use of video or audio clips within the online review of video games. Use for criticism or comment are explicitly exempted from copyright law under the Copyright Act of 1976, 17 U.S.C. § 107. As Mr. Vargas’s source of income is based on the online reviews, the claimant is seeking damages for lost revenues as well as pain and suffering (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQfHdasuWtI)
I know this seems extreme, but keep in mind that this is against google who won a lawsuit after aruging fair use after copying complete books for google books.
Ms. Lo Presti,
Inactivity is the fertile field in which the thorns of tyranny grow.
Right now its a game reviewer, in the future if you criticize the powers that be, will they flag and take down your video if you were wearing a nike shirt, In the name of the company without their involvment?
In so far as you tube using your company name for these claims, this is how I see it…
“You are responsible for any use and related liabilities with respect to your company name whether or not such use and related liabilities were in any way authorized by You, and it is Your responsibility to safeguard your company name”
I use the same standards that your company uses in its user agreement.
What I’d like would be an arena which would have 2 parts… (you could be either a fighter or spectator)
-Part 1- I’d like to see a 1v1 arena. Fighters completely randomly matched. The match would be called off if one of the fighters made no moves (throwing the match) and the non-moving fighter would be kept out of the arena rotation for a certain period.
-Part 2- You could be in the crowd as a spectator watching the match and placing bets prior to the match as to who would win. The winning fighter would get a share of the gold and the winning spectators would get gold based on the bets (odds such as in a horse race). As a spectator you could also pay gold to activate or place traps in the arena. It would be good to also be able to cheer or boo during the match.
Devs.. What do ya think?
It’s funny how everyone noticed some trees that got chopped down, but really few noticed the whole kittening fishing village was wiped off the face of Tyria… But I am really happy that they revisited this area, besides from the tengu and the wizard’s tower, sadly there is nothing really interesting to see here besides ettins here, centaurs there… Really pleased with the secretive approach, here’s hoping we get amazed with the next story
The before screen is from the wiki, and here is some more stuff for you guys to read up on if you’re interested. I remember seeing the concept art even before this, on the blog they had before the game came out. Luckily, the text has been saved on the wiki.
Looking at these pictures it looks like the water level of the lake has gone down as well. Look at the waterfall in both pictures. Also the cracked ground is similar to what you see in a dried lake bed.
Please let this be a lead-in to Krait being a playable race (metamorphose ala Little Mermaid to have legs as the workaround for armor viability). I’d accept Quaggan, stags, or even man-bear-pigs at this point as a new race. Just give us something, anything, please! I beg you!
New race= man-bear-pig
New profession=Still waiting for the Sandwich-mancer :P
WvW
1. New types of goals for WvW (goals of killing or capturing a single NPC from the other server, torching other teams towns, pillaging their resources. Not just capture the area goals)
2. New types of resources only found in border areas of WvW that you could mine if your team had the area.
PVE
1. Player generated weapons. (Your own asura lab to put parts together in different orders to generate different weapons)
2. Permanent changes to the landscape with living world updates (I think this has started in kessex hills )
3. Better housing options with more user choice and reinstate Guild halls….
About $80
At work I got a $100 gift card to Best Buy for last Christmas.
I head in there and get the $25 card every quarter, that way its the Gift that keeps on giving
I’ve spent most of mine on bank slots, extra characters and the everlasting pick and Ax for a few of my toons.
When you consider the value from the hours of entertainment from this game compared to something passive like going a movie, its money well spent.
You could have other materials other than metals that you could pan for. It wouldn’t necessarily have to be metals. If you did have metals you could have gold dust, silver dust etc.. which would you would need to acumulate a lot of before it was processed to actual gold.
A fun idea…
I’ve heard that you are adding new crafting materials to the game.
It would be fun to go panning in Tyria. Each river or body of water could have certain materials that you could pan and each water body could have different productivities.
You could buy from merchants more effecient panning supplies, Sluice boxes, asuran mineral extractors..etc…
You could make so that in WvW each server would have to have a claim on the body of water and defend the claim in order to pan it or set up the equipment. You would not need a mineral claim for PvE.
What do you think?
I like the idea of hitting everything including yourself for damage. That would be funny. I still like the idea that when you would change to the weapon with the sigil that you would have an sudden epic beard on your own character.
A commander tool I’d like to see would be a countermeasure against spys on the server.
There currently is no way to stop a spy on your own server from broadcasting to who-ever your servers movements and team chat.
If a commander could elect to turn off the map and team chat of a single person on their own server while they had the commander label this would be an effective countermeasure.
We need the ability to act agains the spys.
I don’t think that limiting the WvW entrance to level 40+ would do the trick to stop the spying.
There does need to be something done about it though. A server has no countermeasure to a spy and this can cause a huge amount of frustration.
If a commander could elect to turn off the map and team chat of a single person on their own server while they had the commander label this would be an effective countermeasure.
An idea for a new sigil that could be added to weapons,
Sigil of norn-ification- Add 10% might duration, Character has an epic beard while weapon is weilded (including the women)
You could in addition have them intermittently say “norn” sayings upon kills while the weapon is weilded but that might get annoying. Just an idea….
I’ve got an idea how you guys could safely start dipping your toes into the user generated content world for guild wars 2.
The idea would be that you could have your own Asura lab. You would collect different parts (ideas could include pistons, fire starters, tesla coils, simple circuitry as in minecraft, etc) and that these parts could be put into a box which would have multiple slots. The overall effect that the device would have would be dependent on the parts and the order that they were arranged within it. This could also effect the look of it.
This device could then be set up and used both in PvE or WvWvW (similar to how some engineer weapons are)
Therefore you would have a user generated weapon, the effectiveness could be controlled by the developers and it could be incorperated into the current lore.
