Can’t help but feel like my thread got hijacked here…
Hey All, I think there were misconceptions about my idea. It isn’t so much guild-focused (although that was one of the possibilities) but rather rebranded servers… but far less and focused only on those who WANT to be in WvW.
This also has the perk of more accurately tracking ACTIVE wvw player and ACTIVE wvw population!
There’s a lot of designing and iterations to do until something like this can be done, but I really hope it’s eventually done.
The main problem with alliances is people jumping ship to the ones doing better. Meaning there would have to be very good reasons for players with more experience and skill to go to ‘underdog’ alliances, evening things out until all alliances have more or less similar power.
I agree, but this problem isn’t unlike what we already have with stacked servers now.
Population is becoming an issue even on T2 servers (I’m on FA and anything but EBG is routinely empty).
How do you guys feel about:
1) Remove concept of servers (we already have megaserver PVE)
2) Add concept of “Alliance”
3) Alliance is account bound, costs gems to transfer just like server transfers
4) Reduced number of alliances (about half as many as there are servers, or maybe even less)
5) Do not need to choose an alliance until when trying to go to WvW for the first time. This will help new players who don’t understand that servers only matter for WvW.
The difference between a “server” and “alliance” is pretty small. Basically, there are far less alliances than servers and they do not need to be chosen until trying to enter WvW. In a perfect world, every alliance is “full” all the time so that every tier would be fully populated and only skill would separate them.
Bonus: other ideas
1) Alliances can be guild-based instead of account-based (although this has the makings of server/alliance hoping)
2) Alliances expire after every WvW tournament season and every account must select a new one upon entering WvW for the first time after every season
All of my guild is in HoT. Maybe the maps you are in are empty because most people taxi to populated/meta maps via the LFG tool.
The moment F2 was changed for smokescale originally the forum was in an uproar. The moment it’s changed back the forum is in an uproar.
Can’t win.

If you think GW2 is a grind, you’ll be shocked at how bad WoW is.
I’ve played MMOs my entire life going back to “The Realm Online” and GW2 has virtually zero grind compared to them.
- No gear treadmill
- No level treadmill
- Horizontal progression through non-required masteries (do not affect personal performance, see “Alternate Advancement” in other MMOs where you grind to improve your stats to give a competitive edge)
There is some grind in GW2 now for sure, but it’s not even on the same scale of other MMOs.
If it takes you three days of getting hero points to unlock an elite spec, that’s not a grind. Try weeks and months on other MMOs to unlock things.
LOL what’s your problem? What does calming down help? We don’t even get a single answer on the huge negative feedback. There is NO NEED to calm down at all.
Are you surprised you haven’t gotten an answer in that thread? There’s so much vitriol in it that it would be completely demoralizing to participate in it.
Spoilers. Thanks for ruining that for me.
Has been asked many times. The answer is yes.
How come the ranger don’t have reduced stats?
We do. Our weapon damage is lower than other classes.
I really don’t see it on LB and GS. Actually, I don’t see it on any of their weapons.
How come conditions applied by ranger hit for the same amount as other classes?
Complaining about a ranger’s damage! Ha!
1) Make a ranger
2) Play it for a bit
3) Compare to ANY OTHER CLASS
You’ll understand.
As the title states, the druid is two BWE’s behind in terms of polish and balance.
Looking at those elite specs that had three full weekends, it’s clear that the extra time is needed to get those elite specs in the right shape.
The coming time may be turbulent and yes the nerfs have really sucked, but we need to be patient. Being demanding and condescending to the developers, especially Irenio, does nothing but make us as a community look bad.
Give it a few weeks. Sure – if we’re still in a bad state, you can cause an uproar. But the expansion has only been out for one week and everyone is freaking out.
Calm down.
Much of the problem comes because Rangers, in general, HAVE been patient. There are bugs that have existed since the game launched that have not been addressed. Pet AI is weak and pets themselves are generally poor—there are few pets that see consistent use by Rangers. Rangers have seen nerfs that have crippled skills and weapons (shortbow, spirits, and many others), but remain unchanged. With Druid, we have seen many nerfs already that have been extremely heavy-handed—but no buffs, save for the reversion of CAF degeneration.
Being calm did not get anything fixed. It is unlikely that the current uproar will get anything fixed. That is up to the developers. However, the frustration is perfectly understandable under the circumstances, and people would like to make their frustrations known so that the developers cannot honestly say “Well, we thought that Ranger/Druid was in a good place based on user feedback.”
I’ve been a ranger main since day one so I’m right there with you. But as far as the Druid tweaking goes: it’s only been available for one week.
This is seriously the first time in a mmo where I’ve considered rerolling to a new class. If i didn’t have 100% map completion and full ascended on my ranger I’d be playing something cheesy like a elementalist or revenant
If you don’t have any alts I suggest you do! Every class plays totally different – I have 6 alts and I switch between them constantly whenever I want a breath of fresh air!

I looked into zealots my self, even had all the parts. The things I wanted out of the set was the power, the precision and healing power. However there is a few issues with it…. your basically glass which is not good for the class that needs to be alive for the others.
I’m running zealots armor + zerker trinkets myself and I really love it. There’s a lot of misinformation about us being glass not but personally I found I have a tremendous amount of sustain from the healing power.
Resounding Timbre + WHaO is a 16s heal that does 11s of 200/tick regen PLUS 7000~ healing + 1000~ healing from the “heal allies on yourself and your pet” trait.
This is in addition to all the other passive healing capabilites of the druid.
The way I see it is that healing power itself is a defensive trait inline with toughness or vitality.
This is my build and I’m absolutely loving it so far. Zealots worth every penny:

I’m sorry you feel that way. I hope you come back
If regen were removed it would be in all modes. I’ve seen that in PvP it is also a pretty heavy gating, but in PvE it is appears worse due to the more frequent travel time between engagements.
Imagine if every time a bunker guardian entered a fight in PvP it had to spend 20-60 seconds charging up its shouts before using them, that’s basically the equivalent of Druid currently.
One thing that would fix Druid easily in PvP, and make it viable for builds without staff is if you added Astral Force charging from Regeneration boon. Right now Druid can only charge the form effectively with Staff and Troll Unguent, but if you added Regen charging Astral force, Druid would be able to use:
- Water Spirit (with Regen pulsing boon)
-Traited Shouts for Regen
- Healing Spring in team fights for regen charging
-Traited WarhornThis would open up an extremely large variety of builds (Shouts, Traps, Spirits, etc). It would be amazing.
I actually already use a traited shout and WHaO for heals/buffs so this would be huge for me personally.
Thank you, Irenio! I have to say removing degeneration is the right move to bring druids back to a more usable state immediately.
Other tweaks will naturally follow over time.
Sorry to hear about that. My way of coping with that is by avoiding it all together.
I generally only do dungeons or fractals with guildies to avoid that toxic community on any of my characters (including ranger).
Probably not the answer you were looking for, sorry
I personally don’t see a problem with it. After min/max’ers figure out the optimal strategy there won’t be as much of a need for healers so this trait is required in order to keep druids relevant.
A lot of the math here assumes someone is running full zealot but I doubt that’s the intention, or at least it isn’t for me.
I plan on using my existing zerker trinkets with zealot armor and altruism runes to get a decent amount of healing power without sacrificing too much damage.
Altruism’s runes give that added healing power but also proc fury which synergizes well with remorseless, and with WHaO you can pile up the might stacks now.
Since CA exists you can basically pump WHaO every 16 seconds without worrying to much about personal healing.
I have a full cleric set ready but I’m thinking of maybe doing zerker armor + zealot trinkets.
Can you buy zealot trinkets with only laurels?
Only exotic zealot and you need to buy the recipes, no ascended trinkets.
Well. That sucks. So I’ll probably need to do exotic zealot armor + ascended zerker trinkets…?
Personally, if you want to do dps, full zerker will be better. If you want to heal, full cleric. If you want to hybrid, you still need to decide your priority. If it’s healing, a compromise could be:
Cleric Staff + Cleric Trinkets + Zealot Armor (All Ascended)
DPS Weapon = BerserkerIf you slot a crit sigil in the Zerker weapon, you end up with around 2.2k power, 42% crit (before spotter and fury).
Personally, I’m thinking between the above Vs full cleric. At the end of the day, my druid is for raids so I want to maximise support. The new Grace of the Lands trait reiterates how much support druids can bring (spotter, frost spirit, sun spirit, glyph of power, grace of the lands + raw healing).
If you want to dps with druid, try full zerk. If you struggle to heal, slowly change pieces out is my opinion.
Yeah that’s a valid point. Maybe I can even use my existing cleric armor with zerker trinkets and add a crit sigil.
I was trying to find a nice balance really.
I tried zerker in the BWE and it worked decently but I believe that was only because the healing coefficients were way out of wack. So to get that same sustain I’ll likely need to slot at least a little bit into healing power.

Wow this topic sort of exploded. Not sure what all the aggression is for… I just thought adding a burn worked thematically with the skill and would push for more diverse builds than just power.
Hoping for more thoughtful debate than mud slinging!
The name of the skill is “Solar Beam” so it kind of implies a burn. Maybe a short 1-2s burn per hit?
It would also be decent synergy for condi builds (apothecary or shaman) while also allowing the druid to be a healer.
Your location: Toronto, Canada
Time and date of incident (plus time zone): Oct 4th, all day (9am-11PM), EST
Game World: Fort Aspenwood
Brief description of what you’re seeing:
1) All skills are at least 0.5s behind button press
2) In tpvp, players rubberbanding
3) In windows resource monitor, GW2 ping is 350ms
4) Tracert to gw2 servers is dropping packets at Level3 servers in chicago and dallas
5) Speedtest.net tests showed 25/1.8, which is normal for my connection
6) Power cycling routers and computers had no impact
I use a DNS redirect service (unblock-us) from Canada. I tried with and without it, as well as vpn’ing to another area and use that connection. In all cases, the lag persisted.
EDIT: Windows Resource monitor also shows a ping of 280ms in Chrome and the only site I have loaded is the gw2 forums. So it seems to not only affect the game itself?

Except there would be an actual award for being first; Give value in defending. Also I think it’s implied that keep upgrades would need to be accelerated in line with the shorter match lengths.
Even 8 hours seems a bit long. In my mind, I’d like to be in a matchup from the start to the end. Somewhere between 1-3 hours is reasonable. 8 hours means whoever was at the start largely dictates the outcome by the end, or likewise if I was at the start I probably won’t be at the end (where the last minute dash for PPT would probably kick in).
Also what if we added a reward like one mistforged weapon token (you need like 300 to get a weapon right?) for winning?
Give some reward and some meaningful reason to try to get first place.
Why not change WvW matchups to only last a few hours like EoTM, and constantly switch up who you’re facing. Any server from any tier. At least it would stay fresh and the work you put into taking and defending would be meaningful in a measurable amount of time.
Right now the night crew determines who wins and I hate it. It makes me feel like all the work we put in during the day at peak hours is worthless.
Hey Ele Gurus,
I’m leveling up my alt now and am trying to understand the best way to gear my ele once I hit 80.
I play both PvE and WvW, but mostly WvW. My goal is to strike a balance of gear that works well in PvE and WvW. Ideally I’d prefer not to have two different sets of gear due to cost and limited bank slot reasons (I already have almost 20 bank slots reserved for my alts’ gear sets)
I see a lot of posts commenting about Celestial armor and how it’s a good balancing act for Ele’s due to the diverse nature of the profession. However, let’s assume that celestial is not an option because of my intense disdain for crafting. Also, celestial is expensive.
So I’m a little unsure of what approach to go with:
1) PVT
– Does this negatively affect my utility due to lacking healing power?
– Does kitten crit rate or condition damage affect my diversity?
2) Solidiers + Knights
– Lose some vit but gain valuable precision
3) Soliders + Clerics
– Lose some damage but gain healing power (even worth it?)
4) Complete mixup
– Try to recreate celestial as much as possible by mixing matching all different kinds of sets
– Should I bother focusing at all into condi? Should I just do P/Pr/V/T/Healing?
– Is healing power even worth spec’ing into? I read lots of posts about how underpowered that stat is
5) Zerker
– Generally a liability for my guild in WvW as I’d be rally bait… but supreme damage
6) Your suggestion here?
I like the idea of averaging out all my stats via #4 and possibly ignoring condi. Has anyone tried this before? I’d like to try in sPvP but you can’t mix & match there anymore.
I’ve read the post that clearly says Soldier’s is the way to go. However, I personally think that chart is very subjective and only really useful in PvE when factoring mobility and strategy is irrelevant.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
About 123 per tick on a single target. I think the power in this comes when you use AOE’s…
All of a sudden you get a multiplier of *5 on that number.
So a 1000 per tick bleed will heal 50 on a single target per tick but about 250 when you spread that… also keep in mine epidemic spreads all bleeds (and burn and poison and so on) to targets around it so that becomes a very powerful heal. The stipulation, of course, is that you need at least 5 other people to spread those conditions to.
I think you might have an extra 0…
5% as in 0.05*dmg.

Proposal Overview
A lot of suggestions in this thread toy with the idea of overhauling the pets. I think they just need a few tweaks and buffs to be effective.
Goal of Proposal
Instead of making pets a hindrance, make them a true benefit. Make having a ranger in a group desireable because its pet’s f2 is beneficial to the whole group.
Proposal Functionality
Right now, our pets are a glorified punching bag. Although it has some nice single target DPS, I monitor my pet mostly so empathetic bond can pull conditions off of me. There’s a few problems (at least glaring problems) with our pets:
1) A lot of our pet functionality, which supposedly boosts our survivability, kills our pets. E.g, transfering conditions, intercepting damage, and so on. These need to change so that the pets cure conditions, and block damage without taking it on themselves. Imagine having a group-wide condition cleanser in signet of renewal. Instead of guaranteeing your pets death, it’s an extremely powerful sigil. This alone is a huge change that will improve the class significantly.
2) All pet f2 skills need to be instant cast. This may involve a round of balancing, but I personally find the f2 skills are hit and miss. Sometimes they take forever to fire, sometimes they take forever to cast, and (worse) sometimes they look like they fired but nothing happens. Making them instant cast turns our pets f2 skill into an easy-to-use bonus skill that we can accurately time due to its instant nature.
3) Make pet f2 buffs better. Instead of giving a few seconds of fury, or a few stacks of might, make it something really meaningful. Having fury or might is nice, but by itself it pales in comparison to other classes. The pet f2 skill can be our way of providing huge group-wide buffs. Instead of 5 stacks of might on the jungle stalker, what about 5 stacks of might, 5s of fury, and 5s of stability? It’s not that big of a change but it makes a huge difference for what we provide for our group.
Associated Risks
Always a chance of too much buffing to our pets, but they seriously need it.
