Look what they’ve done to Illusionary Membrane… The skill was strong in a phantasm build but FAR from omfg needs to be nerfed cuz its so OP and now we get THREE sec of protection per freaking 15sec, 15!!!!!!!!! On the other hand ranger gets 2sec of protection from dodging without any CD lol that’s anet for you so don’t try to find any reasoning.
And all because Mesmer confuses new/bad players which means it needs nerf… after nerf… after nerf… THANKS ANET!
I always thought Confusion was meant to confuse players … I found out now it’s actually meant to tickle rather than confuse. GG Anet!
I seriously hope the DEVS are going to reimburse players in some way, I myself spent over 40g building and gearing my Mesmer only for it to be shelved and all my hard earned gear and ascended items gathering dust in the bank.
I spent over 400 gold and 65 laurels on my THF that I cant get back. Suck it up, you got nerfed just as bad as I did, now to get the rest of them.
Players don’t have to suck it up. They can vote with their dollar and not give a single cent to Anet again. They can not recommend GW2 to their friends anymore. I think game companies need to be more careful on how they treat their existing player base.
Players are the customers.
Yeah what an idiotic nerf … I see people dying a lot to thiefs eles and aoes but certainly I don’t see zerg dying to mesmers. I don’t see commanders running away in fear saying “OMG there are 5 mesmers approaching us.. runnnnnn…..”.
And if this was done to appease the noobies, then lol. Noobies will become veterans and will find out that the game is shallower than it looks and leave.
I will not spend a single dollar more on Anet to register my protest.
We are told that the change is due to confusion not being newbie friendly. I can agree with that as not many other games have a similar mechanic. However, it would have been better for the game’s overall health to train newbies on how it worked. I would have loved to see MORE competent fighters and tactics, especially in WvW. Instead you’ll have more people whom just power through everything because there’s one less threat to make them stop and think.
what the devs don’t realize is newbie dont stay newbie very long and once they know the game better, instead of appreciating all the builds and counter builds, all they will get are negligible incidental side effects and “basic” dps attacks with different names and graphics. Everyone will just be spamming these attacks making this game just like every other game. In the meantime they will be kitten off different group of players with every mindless nerfs.
Just wonderful.
We don’t want another DS skill. We want viable minion build(s) like GW1.
The current state of the necromancer is like a cheap-ripoff dot-based nuker/mage with a second down state called DS.
Can’t believe dev just destroyed a whole section of mesmer builds. They just made this a poorer game. They should have created a counter to it if they think it is too strong. that way there are counters to counters to counters… Instaed they took the lazy way out and just divide damage by two.
Game is getting poorer in variety with every nerf. If that’s the direction the devs is headed so be it.
We are so overpowered that Anet needs to nerf us to ensure half our population rage-quit so that we are in line with the other classes. Anything more than one viable build means Anet was too soft.
Mesmers is just a well design class especially when you look at the variety of viable builds with more coming up every week. Not every class is in the same place.
At low level (during leveling), a mesmer player’s repetoire of skills and traits are so poor that every fight with 2 or more mobs seems like a fight to the death. So you learn survival skills early on e.g. like proper use of dodge. I find that this similarity to WvW/PvP helped immensely. The skills transferred over easily.
A combination of good class design and natural transferable ‘training’ from PvE to PvP/WvW just means your average mesmer is harder to kill than your average player.
