There’s a spot in Lost Precipice on the upper level with the four large buildings where decorations cannot be placed. When trying to place them the loud decorating sound will play, but the decoration cannot be placed there. I’ve tested this to see if the issue was too many decorations in one location, but it seems like you just can’t put decorations in this spot. This is a shame, because it’s the perfect place for a fountain up here! I’ve taken screenshots and circled the dead area with pumpkins for clarification.
Also, while this has nothing to do with the costs, I think we’d all really like to be able to craft beds. I’ve been sleeping on tables and boulders for months.
For Lunar New Year, all the new items cost a basic finishing kit, and it was basically the best thing ever. It was the first time my guild had ever been able to come together on building something and really feel like we’d made a part of the guild hall our own. It might be extreme, but I’d personally like to see everything except maybe a select few items cost these basic finishing kits. Making them less expensive is a good step forward, but for any good furniture item that’s out there, most guilds are going to want more than one.
Let us build things for cheap. Give us the tools to make our guild halls our own without it feeling like a chore. That’s what I’d love to see from scribing/guild halls.
The first elder dragon added to the game since launch looks to be tied to the sylvari.
For the Living Story at least, that’s only because we happened to get Mordremoth first. Expect heavy emphasis on the Asura when we go after Primordus, Norn when we go after Jormag, etc. Hang in there. Your race of choice will get its day.
It’s just a gas mask… big freaking deal. I can get them off the trading post for a gold on Tarnished Coast.
As a fellow Tarnished Coast player I can confirm that, no, you cannot get the gas mask in question from the trading post. I think you may be thinking of a different item available from the same update which was basically a land version of the aqua breathers in game. The gas mask they’re referring to was a special reward from the Toxic Alliance update.
As someone who knew about the gas mask ahead of time thanks to following updates on the site, counted down the days till the update and then painstakingly slogged through the god awful Nightmare Tower over and over until I got my mask, I do agree that I would prefer not to see it be made available for purchase. I do feel that to do such would cheapen the value of the item for those of us who worked for it, especially since it hasn’t been that long since the item was originally made available.
That said, I’m all for giving people the opportunity to get old rewards. The Escape From Lion’s Arch patch has done that to some extent, albeit with high rarity and difficulty, but that’s the sort of thing I feel like one should expect when chasing after bygone achievements. I don’t mind the idea of people having ways to obtain these items, but I would hate to see them slapped up on the gem store and become, essentially, entirely meaningless to those of us who fought for them.
Dragons, ley lines, something else… all bets are still off.
We are still fighting off the “sideeffects” of her doing, but still do not know the main effect she might have on us.
Yes. We’ve uncovered clues as to what Scarlet is up to in the form of the ley line presence (we know that dragons are tied to the magic of Tyria) and the voices in her head (We learned in the last Living Story patch that Scarlet may not have seen into the Eternal Alchemy, but rather had something in her mind revealed to her that had been locked away). These are the clues. They are all there and you can devise what you want from them.
What you seem to want is a conclusion, not hints, because we already have hints. The conclusion comes next patch, at the end, as conclusions often do. Be patient for one more week and you’ll get your answers.
We have seen the effects of SOMETHING dark tied to the jungle. Sylvari NPCs in Caledon suggest that the jungle wurm activity and the Nightmare Court’s husk servants originate from a “darker presence” than the Nightmare Court. It is possible, of course, that these effects are simply radiating from the sleeping dragon, though it suggests at the very least the possibility that it’s already awake.
Yes we have seen something, but it is most likely way to little for it to be an actual awake Dragon.
The effects that we currently see in Caledon looks more like the effects on Svanir from Jormag, than the effects from Branded in the Dragonbrand.
Yes, but bear in mind that the jungle is also vast, and there are parts of it we’ve yet to explore. What we’re seeing could easily be the vanguard of things to come, if Mordremoth is deeper in the jungle.
It’s possible that Mordremoth is sleeping under LA like the leak suggests, though I hope the leak turns out to be a hoax. They’ve stated before that the entrance to the Depths of Tyria is hidden beneath Lion’s Arch, and between that and all the probing/drilling, it would make much more sense for Primordus to be the one to wake up.
In the end, I suppose we’ll find out one way or the other in a week.
I know the dragon on the image appears in the starting zone for the Sylvari. But Mordremoth him/her/itself is already awake.
There is actually NO official information whatsoever about Mordremoths state at this time.
We do know that it is connected to Maguuma, which would mean that had it been awake, we would have seen its effects by now, and we haven’t (as far as we know) and thus it is very unlikely that it is awake.

It’s certainly meant to celebrate April Fools, but I can now confirm that this event is very definitely real.
Also, the dental differences …
Try as I might, I haven’t been able to find an image or description of skritt teeth. I assume they have standard murine teeth, but they don’t really ever -show- their teeth. All pictures I’ve found of them show their mouths closed, and when their mouths are open in personal quest cut scenes to talk, you can’t actually see any teeth in their mouths.
I’d like to preface this by telling you how very sorry I am that your mentors were taken so early. I truly am. That said, this theory doesn’t mean much to me. I know full well that Tybalt is still alive.
The Battle for Claw Island was a maelstrom of chaos and death. Everywhere I saw young Lionguards falling victim to the wickedness of the Risen. All seemed hopeless, and there was nothing to do but flee for our lives. Reaching the gates, a wave of Risen beasts assailed us, but the brave Lightbringer Tybalt Leftpaw shut himself inside the fortress with the beasts, buying us the time to escape.
There I stood, horrified, trapped beyond the gates of Claw Island fortress with an impassable barrier between me and the monstrous Risen, but also between me and my dear friend. On the mini map, a small skull and crossbones taunted me from the courtyard, marking the spot where his body had fallen. The only epitaph that my partner would ever receive.
But what do we say to the god of death?
Ignoring Traehearne’s pleas for us to escape to the ships I jumped at the doors, seeking a way to scale the walls. It was futile, and I knew that, but to surrender would condemn Tybalt Leftpaw to a final, awful grave. Turning into the brush I ran around the fortress, weaving my way through trees and bushes and swimming through the murky, dead infested harbor of the island until, at last, I found what I sought. The dry beach awaited me on the north end of the island, and there, I saw the bestial dragon that had driven us from any chance we had at victory. Traehearne followed behind me, still carrying our wounded ally, still requesting that we take our leave. But no one would be left behind today.
Mustering my courage, I ran between the dragon’s legs, sprinting full tilt into the courtyard where Tybalt had fallen. The dragon’s breath consumed me, filled me with a sense of dread the likes I had never felt, and I was compelled to flee. Fortunately, my wayward legs carried me directly into the courtyard, away from the dragon’s wrath. Unfortunately, they guided me into a horde of Risen mongrels. I took up arms, fighting for my very life. Many times I found myself on the ground, but each time I rallied myself and rejoined the fight. Traehearne proved useless, but he had his arms full carrying our ally, whom he had brought for some unknowable reason. I fought my way to Tybalt’s body, the crowd of Risen that had battered him to the ground standing at the gates, most likely attempting to break through. I took my chance as their backs were turned.
A trap, most likely. As I knelt to revive my fallen friend, the Risen turned and attacked. There were over a dozen of them, many more than there had appeared to be, as though the creatures had somehow been standing in the same place, obscuring each other. They fell upon Traehearne and I, forcing us to fall back until they gave up the chase. We managed to dispatch only two of the powerful foes, and many more remained. Guerilla tactics became necessary, and we would run forward to draw out a few of the Risen guards, killing one or two when we could and falling back before the others could retaliate. It took nearly a full half hour, but finally the last of the Risen fell dead at my feet.
I rushed to Tybalt’s side. At last, the time had come to revive my friend. Working quickly, I mended his terrible wounds and helped him to his feet. He would not move from his spot. He did not even have anything to say to me, as though he were never meant to say anything more at all. He simply stood there, staring grimly at the mass of Risen behind us. I knew what had to be done. I cut a path back through the Risen, the same tactics necessary to avoid being overrun by the Horde. Soon, however, there was a clear path between Tybalt and the bay, through which we could escape. Still, however, he did not move. He stayed in place, certainly not wanting the others to see him.
There are few ways to leave the Order of Whispers. Perhaps Tybalt wished for a simpler life. Perhaps he merely did not want the others to know that he had survived his hero’s sacrifice, and indeed, the others spoke of him from that day on as though he had fallen. But I knew, and certainly Traehearne knew as well, though he never once told a soul. Somewhere, on some faraway beach, an appletini in one hand and a smile on his face, Tybalt Leftpaw sits staring at the sea, basking in freedom, remembering the days we fought together. Oftentimes I think of him, and I’m sure he thinks of me. Even though no words were shared, I know he was grateful. Some stories, even the simplest ones, simply can’t end sooner than they’re meant to.
So what do we say to the god of death?
An apple a day keeps Grenth away.
Although I will admit that a Pale Tree growing in the ruins of an Elder Dragon’s realm is honestly a great symbol of the Pale Tree’s ultimate victory
I don’t know, it’s possible the Mother would not like a rival, especially a rival grown in an even more innately magical area of Tyria than her own :P I think a subordinate tree works better!
In one of the Sylvari personal quests early in the game you meet a Sylvari named Malyck with no memory of the Pale Tree or the dream. You come to learn that he is an outsider to the Grove, born from another mother tree at the source of a river far from the Grove. We have not yet seen this tree, but it’s been revealed that there are other such trees as the Pale Tree out there. Caithe hides this from the public because if the Nightmare Court found out, she fears they would just destroy the Grove and move on to try to find these other trees to corrupt instead.
This is something that I’ve been considering for some time. Is it possible that the clever Asura share a common ancestor with the primitive skritt, or even that the Asura are an evolved sub-species of skritt themselves?
The evidence
- Asura and Skritt both hail from the subterranean depths of Tyria, both having fled their homeland as a result of the waking of Primordus. The two species lived in close proximity, and in similar natural circumstances.
- The Skritt and Asura both possess rodent-esque features, with rounded ears bearing slight points, and short, stunted noses. The Asura closer resemble domestic rodents, such as hamsters or gerbils, potentially a result of evolution following an ascension from primitive lifestyles. They stand at similar heights, both being fairly short of stature. It is also often difficult to differentiate genders within the two races, with males and females often sharing several similarities aside from their voices and fashions.
- The two species also possess the same number of digits on their hands, three fingers and a thumb. Both have three-toed feet with all three toes pointed forward, a trait found in few Tyrian creatures, and almost no other bipeds.
- The Skritt have been found to gain intelligence as they gather in great numbers. Skritt have managed to form small colonies of capable, intelligent groups, and the more that gather, the more intelligent they become. There is no way of knowing the limit of this intellect gain, so if the Skritt were to form a full civilization, say on the scale of the Asura, they could potentially become a race comprised entirely of geniuses with limitless intellectual prowess.
- Being creatures of advancement and drive, Asura often look forward and rarely look back. As a result, their history before their rise from the underground world of Tyria is largely unknown. The Skritt, being primitive creatures, also have little information regarding their history.
- The Asura possess a powerful drive to discover and invent, while the Skritt are victims of an ever-present urge to collect shiny and valuable-seeming items. Both races possess an inborn sense of unending ambition. The Skritt, being more primitive, focus on material gain and physical goals, while the Asura, possessing greater mental capacity, are able to focus on metaphysical and intellectual advances and achievements.
This evidence could be purely coincidental, or there could be more to the tense relationship between these two curious cultures than meets the eye. I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter as well.
Not trying to beat a dead horse but I’m very curious: it’s been stated that there will be no Cantha in these updates, but will the Cantha february holiday still take place in some for or another? Or are you referring to nothing Canthanese at all taking place in the next few months?
Wintersday has come and gone, and here I am with a shiny new unbreakable choir bell. ANet, you’ve given me a lovely little toy to while away the minutes while I stand around figuring what to do. I take endless pleasure in coming up with new song combinations. What I hope for is this.
More of this, please. More instruments to play with, more sounds and more notes. Fiddles maybe, accordions, guitars, drums, etc. It’s a simple mechanic that can be both very annoying and extremely enjoyable. I’d love to hear minstrels plying their art around Divinity’s Reach. I’d love to hear players trying to form up impromptu bands with songs they made up on the spot. Jeremy Soule’s music is lovely, I’ll give him that, but there’s nothing like the joy of making your own.
Personally, I’d like to see a fiddle or violin above all else, but mostly, I just hope to see more of this mechanic. More personal instruments for players, please.
Wintersday hat is dud. Mad King gave witch’s hat that was tied to the Halloween theme.
I expected Winter themed hat but they have us another witch/wizard hat.
And they put the santa hat in the gem store. I know ANet wants people to spend money in gem store but… just wow…
That hat had nothing to do with Wintersday. It was incentive for the special edition and was made free for people on the gem store because people felt stilted that they didn’t get a free hat too, cry cry, robble robble. The free gift for Wintersday is a Christmas themed backpack full of presents, which you can get from Tixx in Lion’s Arch while he’s there.
Aww man, so I stayed up for nothing? Please be more clear with when updates are going to be going live Arenanet, you said in several places it would be going live on the 14th so I assumed it would be at some version (EST, PST, servertime, whatever) of midnight. (Yes, my fault for assuming I know)
Actually, they did specify 10AM PST, 1PM EST, etc. on the 14th, but they also request a bit of wiggle room. These things aren’t always an exact science. They’ll release the patch when it’s ready, and when they can assure everyone quality content.

Well sorry i’m not as epic as You, my english ain’t too good to understand that, that’s why i asked explanation in simplier words. Thanks for Your answer tho, merry christmas :][/quote]
Don’t worry. It’s hard to be as epic as me. Sorry, didn’t mean to come off as rude. It’s late and I’m tired. But yes! There should be a full schedule of events on the site’s Wintersday page, if you want more details. It tells you all about the activities and dates/times, etc.
Have a holly jolly Wintersday!
It’s the best time of the year!
I’ve got tons of swords and guns,
To make monsters quake with fear.
Have a holly jolly Wintersday,
And when you walk down the street.
PvP with errant glee,
Kill everyone you meet!
Ho, ho, the killing blow,
From behind where you can’t see.
Somebody stealth-ganked you.
Kill ’em once for me.
Have a holly jolly Wintersday,
And in case you didn’t hear.
Maim and murder to survive and see Wintersday,
Next year!
The build should go live sometime tomorrow. The first stop of Tixx’s airship is on December 15 at 10:00 AM PST (7:00 PM CET). The delay is intentional, to prevent any unforeseen complications with getting the build out from messing with the timed content. Don’t forget that even before the airship arrives, there’s plenty of stuff to see and do in Lion’s Arch.
So, to put it simply – there’s no content that would be added today if i understood right, yep?
That’s not even slightly correct. Did you even read the answer? There will be things to see and do in Lion’s Arch. New jumping puzzles, pvp games (snowball fights), and other activities, as well as new decorations and store items. The airship event begins on the 15th, and it will add content and visit a new city every day till it reaches Lion’s Arch.
Personally I just hope they add the hat to the store after a period of time. Limited exclusive, and such. And mostly just because it looks kitten adorable on the Asura. Also, for those asking if it’s the same as the Witch’ kitten it is not. It’s like a big floppy Gandalf hat. Not worth this much fuss, but I’d still like one.
The whales are gone! kitten I wanted to save them. I’ll never forget you Lord Quaggalopolis.
Right now, mother kittens!
It’s supposed to be out now, the 22nd, not the 23rd. If they’re dealying it, they need to extend the dates as well. Oct 22 – Nov 1. Needs to extend past nov 1 to how ever many days they delay it.
On the contrary, they don’t ‘need’ to do anything. But they most likely will. To everyone waiting on the content, a dev posted about two hours back that it would launch tonight, on the 22nd. Be patient and have faith in our crunchy GW overlords. I’m sure they’re hard at work trying to make sure their first big content patch launches smoothly, if not punctually. As long as it’s quality, I think we’ll be fine.
