I hope they will keep them as rewards for completing maps, especially the cities. They removed the ability to get crafting supplies and armor/weapons from map clearing a city because they aren’t combat zones. If they remove the stones as a reward what would they replace them with?
Keeping it the way it is now, only giving a charge per city would be perfect. It would allow new players to get access to and try out this system.
I’m rather impressed with all of these. I’ve been meh about the greatsword and sword skins since Dragon Bash but both of these came out really well this time. The longbow still suffers the same issues I’ve had with several others, that it looks like way too much weight to be held straight at arms length without causing a lot of issues. Which sucks as I do like the color, design and animations.
All in all I’m rather glad that I’ve recently ordered parts for a new computer and will actually be able to participate this season.
I understand that other’s use the regular Transmutation Crystals. I have alts I deck out as well. However I don’t find it an adequate reward at all when I get 1 (and only one) with my daily chest. I don’t think they should be an option for the daily chest or anything that gives gem store items. I don’t even think they should be in the gem store. Not when it’s easy as pie to get them if you have an empty character slot. Start a throw away character, map clear the cities, throw them in the bank. Delete the character. Done.
While I would love a way to change them to Fine grade crystals with how easy they are to get, it would mean a loss of profit for Anet.
The cultural weapons are a bit of a joke, so cultural themed Legendaries would be an interesting idea.
Your speaking of making a Legendary and then taking it back to your people and making it have a cultural theme? The problem you have with Bifrost I’d have with Kudzu and any Sylvari. Basically it already fits the “theme”…
I’d like more Legendaries flat out. Make them the same requirements as the current ones but maybe substitute some item sold by the armor vendors so it’s locked to that race.
Finally the orchestral character select music is up! THANK YOU!
There are several bows I like, but the vast majority of the dropped loot bows are boring looking. What annoys me is when I get something uniquely named and it’s the same old tired basic wooden bow. Why not give the karma vendors with uniquely named items their own skins?
I’m sitting at the character select humming along. I hope they put up both this and the version with lyrics on soundcloud.
I think Divinity Reach defenses got a little problem: Do you remember the vista at the giant hole in one of the districts? At this part the wall got a huge gap there.
Need to look at the glass half full.
That gap leads into the Great Collapse, it’s incredibly unstable. So an army going in that way will likely shake sections of it loose just from feet marching. Que army being dumped into Tyria’s largest oubliette.
Scouts on the other hand, or saboteurs might be an issue. Having archers on the rope bridge and regular patrols with Krytan Hounds would slow that down.
Many times I have no clue what this game thinks I’m targeting. Even if I go up against one enemy with my pet and have that enemy targeted it’ll randomly switch target to my pet without me clicking anything. I can take my hand off the mouse and just tap the 1 key to start autoattacking and then watch it hop targets for no reason.
Kasmeer’s armor looks amazing. I can only hope that we get this skin at some point, I won’t even care which armor class it applies to. The fact that it covers the stomach and those awesome shoulder pieces make it for me.
I also love Kiel’s set. If one were to go to the PVP locker I’m pretty sure she’s wearing the chest piece and legs from the Heavy Plate set and the gloves are Splint Gauntlets, can’t figure out the shoulders though. Any thoughts?
I rather like this idea. I play a ranger so the idea of “Legendary” pets appeals to me greatly. I miss the phoenix from GW1 and the quest you had to do to get it.
There are those that wouldn’t mind class specific outfits or weapons so maybe these could unlock a vendor like HoM’s? That way if it does get deleted you can just walk over and get another one free of charge.
I want this. Rather badly actually. I would love to replay the mission we get as a Sylvari when we first get introduced to the three Orders. Iowerth’s mission where we get a remote controlled golem to blow up Risen with is amusing and would make an awesome mini game. I’d replay that mission over and over just as stress relief.
Do you mean a way to get a look at what’s on special in the BLTC? That would be awesome. I do get on to do my daily but I’ve forgotten several times that the there was a sale going and missed out on a few things I wanted.
Be great if there was a way to add gems on here as well as buy stuff and have it show up in the mail when we log in.
I like this idea.
I would much rather there was a set of race specific clothing in the options for the set we start with. So we could decide to start with the standard human clothing or we could go with race clothing. Much like what we get through the personal storyline creating a new character would be the only way to get it. . .
and it would give the poor non-humans more options. >.>
Please start molesting the search function. There has been much discussion about this topic with many, many points brought up both for and against it.

Something like how you can favorite dyes and sort them out from the rest would be nice. Be able to designate favorite weapon/armor pieces and then sort so they’re the only thing that shows up.
Or even some sort of visual that shows up around them (like a gold or glowing border on the item) so I can tell the shortbow I want from the umpteen others I’ve picked up.
It would cut down on accidentally equipping items that I wanted to sell.
Are you speaking of the puffball that you get when the dandelion makes seeds? If so that could be all kinds of awesome. The glow could crawl up the white fluff making it go fiber optic.
Be rather cool if they could create hairstyles that changed on season though, then we could watch it go through the stages.
I’m seeing this same issue.
Firefox browser ver 19.0.2
I noticed that when I look at the list of sites upon right clicking the back button the thread name is in there twice. So no matter how many times I hit the back button it just reloads the page.
Is it feasible to make the icons a little bit bigger and then have the cooldown show up on it just like on the skills? They shouldn’t take up too much room on the screen that way.
And there’s a great conversation in The Grove near the Asuran gate, where a Sylvari is driving a golem mad by asking questions, and this Asura yelling at her because of it. It’s pretty funny.
“I don’t know how you did it, but you weirded out my Golem!”
Definitely my favorite conversation in the game.
The song sung by the guy who blesses the alcohol going to the Lionguard in Godslost Swamp is pretty amusing too.
I’ve only run Paths 1 and 2. Hope to get a try at 3 sometime in the next few days.
Path 1 used to be an easy run, sure there’d be an occasional screw up with the gravelings when miscommunication happened but we’d get it on the second bounce. Now I find it close to impossible on my Ranger. I just don’t have enough access to stability to keep myself from being bounced from one knockdown attack to the next. Even when the rest of my party can put them down and come rez me I feel like I’m being carried when before I contributed.
Now Path 2…that was a surprise. Once we worked out the ghostbusting mechanics it’s become the most fun I’ve had on a dungeon run in a long time. Instead of just shooting the boss, dodging and occasionally helping someone up from a downed state I felt we were actually working as a team to take down a boss. So Kudos to whomever came up with the changes to Path 2!
I’d like them to add more and then spice the new ones up and keep the original three as an introduction to dragon fighting for new players…why spend the time changing the current ones? add the improvements to the new dragon fights…wouldn’t that be better to have more and better to the ones we currently have?
I can see where you’re coming from, but I’m not sure the dragon encounters as they are would be a good introduction. They’re mechanics are already covered by other meta events in the starting areas.
Take Shadow Behemoth for example: all you have to do is not stand in the red circle, AoE the portals and shoot SB in the face.
Metrica Providence’s Fire Elemental got nerfed to the point that we can two man it. Again, don’t stand in the red circles, kill the Embers if they come after you, shoot the FE in the fa- err flames.
Why spend time changing the current ones? To make them more interesting. To make people still want to do them if more challenging dragon encounters are added. At the very least I’m not sure it would make sense to have a intro dragon fight in a level 80 zone. What I would like to see is the current mechanics brought more into play. These encounters need to be shook up or they’re just going to be an example for the devs of what not to do with the next encounter. As it is Maw has more moving parts to it and is more engaging. And it’s not drawn out so it’s hard to get bored.
I feel in order to qualify as an introduction to the fighting of a dragon one needs to learn something from the encounter. . .something we then use as a stepping stone for the next encounter. . . what do we learn from fighting each of these that we haven’t already learned from another Meta event in a lower lvl area?
They need to get rid of the current dragon encounters, make them roaming, use an actual mob model instead of a building model, and make them dangerous and unpredictable. Make them crash DE’s, low level zones…hell, any zone. I’d be hilariously happy if they attacked cities. And don’t put em on a frakkin timer.
This would be awesome. The Shatterer would not be nearly as mind numbingly boring if he would attack randomly up and down the Brand (since you can see him flying overhead all the time anyways), it would encourage people to patrol the entire area and then call out to their fellow players whenever they saw it come in for a landing.
And the idea of the Claw of Jormag perched on a building in downtown Holbrek is just plain amusing. XD
The sad thing is that each dragon does have some sort of extras that are suppose to make them more interesting. They each have achievements tied to them as well. The problem is that none of the extras are necessary to kill the dragon. Tequatl has the lazers for it’s achievement but everybody just goes around the bones and attacks him head on. The Shatterer is by far the worst of the three as everyone just sits on that one rock targeting his leg. The Claw is tentatively at the top as we do have keep mobs at bay so the cannons can bring the dragon down and we have to fire at the wall to get to him and there’s the whole second stage to the fight. I’m not saying it’s not an auto-attack snooze fest but at least it’s not as easy to ignore the mechanics as the other two.
I think they need to spice up the three fights we have before adding more.
The idea of being able to use NPCs to fill gaps when one can’t find a group for say a dungeon is on the surface awesome.
I would have to agree with many here that have brought up the AI’s intelligence and lack of basic abilities (like jumping) though. The game’s far more three dimensional now and until the NPC’s are smart enough to be able to follow you through a jumping puzzle or respond accurately to an enemy’s tells they’re just fodder for Daily Healer.
What I wouldn’t mind seeing is elements of the system they used applied to the NPCs we have. Say Rangers given a flag representing their pet so they can tell it “Stay here and guard”, or even drag it out of the red circle of doom that it insists on standing in.
