You can send an email to support@guildwars2.com and explain why you aren’t using the web-form.

Good luck.

Buddy, thank you so much. This actually helps since nobody from GW2 support has responded yet.

Hi, I need help. I cannot create a support ticket. It keeps saying “You have been suspended from this account. You are not allowed to submit requests at this time.”

Obviously I’m not suspended because I can play the game right now. I don’t know where else to turn.

My user id is pyronix.4081

I am having an issue with an achievement title and I wanted to create a support ticket about it but I can’t/

Your entire post tells me you really want to play WoW. That is exactly what you should do. GW 2’s combat mechanics allows for collision and aiming. I would not be surprised as players are more used to the combat system, more free aim abilities and encounters will be designed. If you prefer more scripted and managed PvE environment, I seriously recommend you stick with WoW or DCUO. Both games are mechanically sound and offer PvE content that would be more to your liking.

Thank you for raising a very good point (amongst other good points in your post). Playing GW2 dungeons has made me miss how smoothly and well-designed encounters are in WoW heroics, and how much less stressful PUGs there are.

On the one hand, you are right in the fact that I should go back to WoW. On the other hand, I think the concept of playable pandas are a joke (plus the monthly fee), and I like the implementation of most of everything else in GW2 apart from dungeons and WvW.

I was hoping to offer a dissenting view on the design goals and direction of dungeons in this game because some of the dungeons got it right in terms of the mix (for example, the Uncategorized fractal – where you fight the kitty creations of the Raving Asura – was one of the best dungeon experiences I’ve had in the game, as well as Solid Ocean fractal which was just gorgeous) while others are just pure hell (e.g. phase 1 of urban battleground fractal, and all of underground facility fractal, not to mention most of the explorable modes of the older dungeons).

But anyway, thanks for the constructive input. I’ll probably stick to GW2 in the meantime and just grind DE’s until they revamp WoW’s business model or some other MMO with similar quality comes along. It’s really just too bad that most of the dungeons here are not as fun as they are in WoW (for me, at least).

Why are dungeons in this game so brutal to people who lack eye-hand coordination and motor skills?

Why is “skill” in this game measured more in how well you dodge and time your skills, and less in how well you strategize in terms of equipping utilies, planning your gear, setting up traits, and so on?

It seems that you can win any encounter in this game if you can time dodges perfectly, but no matter how well geared, well thought out your traits are, you get instadowned if you don’t dodge at the right time, or hit that skill at the right time, or interrupt at the right time, etc etc.

Based on the forum posts here, all I see are people complaining about how “easy” the dungeons are and how “bored” they are with it. This leads me to wonder if all the elitist kittens from WoW who kept complaining because that game became “too casual” just upped and left to play GW2.

I did do AC and CoF grind to the point where I can complete Kholer without ever getting hit by his spinning-harpooning-all-debuffs-on-you thing, or getting across that corridor with the flaming things rolling around in CoF P1 without ever dying (and without a mesmer).

Even then, I never felt any more “skillfull” than my other party mates who kept getting downed by Kholer or getting instakilled by the flaming balls of death corridor. It just makes me really sad, and frustrated for them, and frustrated AT them for not getting it after a million times, because I know how it feels like to be on the other side – to be that noob who can’t command his fingers to move fast enough to run across the kittening corridor of death. There was no “oh yes, what an achievement! I made it!” feeling. All it was was “Uggh, glad that BS gimmick is over.”

PUGging then becomes a horrible frustrating experience because, unlike strategy, motor skills is something you can’t teach random strangers. Instead of dungeons becoming a fun experience where you teach and learn strategy from other people, you just end up resenting partymates who keep getting blown off by the wind at the Cliffside fractal. To be honest, I’ve stopped doing dungeons and just went back to farming DE’s because of how frustrating the difficulty level of dungeons are.

I’d like to see a dungeon that’s less about dodging and timing. I’d like more cerebral, rather than motor-skills based encounters. Surely, I must not be the only person who had thoughts like this amongst the hundreds of thousands of GW2 players.

NO.

I’m sorry but this is a very bad idea. Light armor classes (except D/D eles) are already at such a large disadvantage with having long AoE cooldowns and pathetic single target DPS compared to melee classes whose spammable #1 attacks are also AoE attacks and are as damaging, if not more damaging, than a majority of AoE attacks by the light armor classes.

As for the argument to “prevent” farming, this is easily by-passed by having someone in your party on a server with an uncontested dungeon. This has resulted in a lot of groups specifically looking only for people on servers with uncontested dungeons. And yes, I am talking about CoF.

Now, I like dynamic events… I really do. But it’s such a pain when you’re in a group with people spread across 4 different servers, nobody has it open, there’s a dynamic event up on your end, and you’re the only one at the entrance area of your server. So… what now? More often than not, party leaders ends up doing a roulette of kicking and inviting people looking for someone with uncontested dungeons.

This would have been a good idea if contested dungeons were major hubs of end game and there were always a lot of people in the area – this, however, is not a case, and I have frequently found myself at the entrance of CoF alone and hoping I could get a group that already has someone with the dungeon open, or getting a PUG nice enough to not kick me if my server’s dungeon is contested.

Can’t you not just stop selling the game in certain areas, for instance most players believe the botters come from (some country) so why not block people from buying over there? The game is not available in all countries so why not cut off one more.

Just because someone lives in Asia or in that “certain country” does not necessarily mean they are RMTers or botters or whatever. That’s racial profiling and stereotyping, and being an Asian person living in Asia myself, I find that line of thinking slightly offensive. There are A LOT of people in this region of the world that play the game honestly, and your perception of the player base from this part of the world is skewed by bias.

Contested dungeons.

Just go to GW2LFG and you’ll see a people looking for 1 more with a server where the dungeon is uncontested, especially during off peak hours. I’ve been kicked from a group because they were trying to find a server were the dungeon is uncontested and it was currently contested in mine.

I don’t see the point of this game mechanic. Once upon a time, maybe the developers thought, hey maybe it would be fun if…

IT’S NOT FUN. At all. I don’t see how anyone benefits from this. It’s just added stress and annoyance, and it adds to my suspicion that this game hates PUG-ging so much and assumes that everyone does stuff with their guilds or friends or lovers or whatever. This has led to LFG dynamics where one of the criteria (and sometimes the only criteria) for being chosen is whether or not the dungeon is uncontested on your server.

If anyone finds this fun, please explain to me why. I fail to see the rationale. If the developers want to slow progression, this is really one of the worse ways to do it.

Once you draw the staff, the glow and particle animations disappear and never come back until you go to another map. :/

You can see on the picture attached how it looks like the first time the map loads (there are two glowing orange orbs and sparks around the staff, and how it looks like after you draw the weapon.

Looking for Staff or DS build/gearing advice

in Necromancer

pyronix.4081

Hi.

I’m looking for a staff or Death Shroud PvE build and gearing advice.

Here is the current build I’m running around with which I am liking very much.

http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mVVm0czzMmhMComhGCo0pG0pMsMVoa

My playstyle is as follows: I am typically on staff getting life force as fast as possible. When it becomes 100%, I switch to DS and start life blasting. I leave DS right before my LF goes below 50%. Rinse and repeat.

I’m looking for a pure damage build with massive single and AoE damage (hence, staying in DS as much as possible) that will never have to go to melee range (which is why there are 25 points in precision for the targettable wells).

I don’t care about support or survivability (I’ve ran dungeons in full rampagers w/o any survivability problems).

The only reason I equip a scepter is because I HATE being in melee, and axe range is still too close for comfort.

My questions:

1. If going for maximum damage on dungeon bosses, should I go all out Zerker (which will leverage on the curses and soul reaping lines as well) or should I stick with Rampager (which will give more damage to all of the bleeds and poisons that are side effects of staff and scepter skills)? I know this question can be answered by Math but I’m hoping someone else has done this before.

2. I’m not really sure if my build above is the best in terms of maximum damage. Can someone advice on a pure damaging build and gear that utilizes Staff, DS, and/or Scepter? I am inclined more towards power builds than conditional damage builds.

Thank you very much all in advance

Why are people buying trash items?

Hello again.

I just want to post this question so someone can hopefully enlighten me. Hope I don’t come off across as a noob as I’ve been playing this game for like 5 months now.

I see a lot of useless blue high level items being bought at above vendor prices IN BULK. Now, don’t get me wrong. I like the fact that I’m able to sell my trash at a higher price than those of NPC vendors – but this has kept me wondering if there’s something I’m missing here.

Is there some sort of super secret Mystic Forge formula where you put in useless blues and it spits out precursors or a god mode weapon?

Why are people buying trash? It boggles the mind. It really does! Picture attached to show what I mean.

3. Don’t hold your breath for this one.

Thanks for the answer. Also, what do you mean by “working on sating old/end-players”?

Hello.

I just dropped by because I noticed something strange with the in game AH lately. I used to be able to preview skins of any armor class (the ones they sell for gems) regardless of what armor class my character is. Over the holidays, this feature seems to have been removed and replaced with the much more annoying feature of limiting previewing only to armor sets you can actually equip. More surprisingly, this seems to have affected not only the BLTP but also merchants as well.

So my questions are:

1. WHY? And is this going to be reverted back to the old functionality eventually?
2. When are we getting the ability to preview TP items (the ones other players sell)?
3. When will preview start showing weapon and armor glows?

Hi Guys,

Need some dungeon gearing advice for my Mesmer given the build below (10/20/5/25/10):

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgUQNArdRlwzKqHQTqGeeJiZBnZAdLHqCYHpCqWJF42FC

I’m already 80 but have been running AC explorables successfully with rare berserk 74 armor (looking for advice on what 80 set to invest on first if I want to go dungeon-ing heavily). Haven’t been dying so much even with bad glass cannon gear but was wondering what armor/runes/sigils guys would run with if you had the build above and how would you justify it.

It’s more or less a cookie cutter phantasm build (I don’t really shatter that often – only when I have badly positioned wardens or when the mob is about to die).

I know the trait build is quite noob-ish (all decent mesmers use staves in dungeons amirite) but just bear with me. :P

I’m actually torn between getting Soldier’s from temple karma (power, toughness, vit) since I’m loving all the crits and the bleeds, or if I should get Carrion or Valkyrie or something. I love the idea of disposable phantasms, large crits, and large bleeds.

Thank you.

Please find attached screenshot showing the last log in details from GW2 account management page side by side with the WAN interface configuration of the router/modem provided to me by my ISP.

You can see that the IP’s are EXACTLY THE SAME. You can even see from the screenshot below that the gateway used by my DSL provider is within the authorized networks of my account.

NOBODY is using my account but me!

Where is the “high level of care is used, that we’re constantly refining systems to reduce false positives” and the “assurance that we’ll do our best to get better at reducing false positives " that Gaile has mentioned in the aforementioned thread when here I am on this part of these forums again 2 days later losing sleep (it’s 5AM where I am) unable to log into the game because the system is yet again preventing me to access the game for god knows what reasons.

I really don’t understand what’s going on.

Did I get any compensation for time lost while they “investigated” my account for botting when this was something they should’ve done PRIOR to banning me considering the persistent claim that each case is thoroughly investigated before service suspension is passed? NO. Did I get even just a canned sorry from customer support for wrongly banning me the first time and preventing me from playing for a day during a time when it was most important to me? You bet your horses I didn’t.

The only apology I got was in the forum thread replied to by Gaile – a forum thread I created because I have no idea why a service I paid for, a game I advocated to my friends, a game I supported by buying gems in, has decided to wantonly terminated my account out of the blue – and the apology I got was at most a half-hearted one, with a reply that answered no question as to why I, an honest player, got banned. And here we are again, 2 days later, unable to play because some supposedly unauthorized individual has logged in to my account.

You know, for Christmas, I bought my youngest brother a GW2 account, my other brother 2000 gems, and I’ve also gifted another friend with a GW2 account – all done LEGALLY (not that I’ve ever done anything illegal in my entire life, I just felt that I had to state this explicitly because I feel like I’m being treated like a criminal when I’ve done nothing wrong given the horrid experience with this game the past few days) – and this is how you, ANet, decide to show thanks to a customer who supported and continually support your game… for the second time in row… by removing his access to the game during a time when this is the only chance he could get to hang out and do something together with family that he won’t be seeing again for a while.

Bravo.

Team,

What is going on there in your side? I was in the middle of Kessex Hill dynamic events circuit when I just suddenly got logged out and now cannot log back in due to the fact that my account was “supposedly” accessed by an unauthorized individual.

THIS IS NOT TRUE.

I am NOT – I repeat – I AM NOT being hacked!!! After you wrongfully banned me for supposedly “botting” a few days ago (please refer to case 121230-000715 and the forum thread I created here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Automated-Banning-Why/), I have changed my password to a password I have NEVER used in my entire life.

I have been in Kessex Hill for the past 2 days farming DE events.

Now I suddenly get this error that some authorized individual is accessing my account. THERE IS NO ONE ACCESSING MY ACCOUNT ASIDE FROM ME. I have not shared my password details with anyone. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

This is the 2nd time in the past 4 days that your system or your game moderation team has mistakenly flagged my account for thigns that ARE NOT HAPPENING and are NOT TRUE.

I have given you my personal contact information in the tickets I’ve already raised. You can verify me, my in-game activities, anything you want, and you can see that I’m an honest player. You can call me up, monitor my game activities, observe all you want. I DON’T CHEAT, and I AM NOT BEING HACKED.

I have done everything I can possibly do from my end to avoid a repeat of the nightmare I had to go through when my account was wrongly accused of botting. Ironically, I even went to the extent of creating a support ticket (refer to 121231-000268) documenting all activities I will be performing on my character up till Jan 2 and inviting GM’s to observe and monitor so they can be satisfied that I AM NOT CHEATING IN ANY WAY and so that my gameplay will not be interrupted by some badly designed system that harms the experience of honest players.

I don’t understand why this is happening.

The ironic thing is that these have to happen NOW – now when I have just few precious days I could spend playing with my brothers before the Christmas break is over and we don’t even see each other again until I don’t know when.

Just please please please stop this madness already.

I have raised ticket 130101-002028 for this issue.

Please resolve this ASAP.

S/D Elementalist Needs Gear Advice

Gearwise: Both will work fine when you’re just doing PvE. You don’t need Toughness that badly in a PvE set seeing as you’re rarely tanking damage specifically. Also, remember you can easily get PVT Armor (except Leggings) from the Temple merchants in Orr for 42k Karma each.

Use VI in Arcana over VII. You get perma-Vigor from it if you have decent crit chance which translates into better Endurance gain than the VII trait. I don’t agree with the Water traits or you not having Arcane Wave (Might stacks!), but that’s for you to decide.

Thanks so much for your feedback! I’ll definitely look into Arcane VII over VI. The problem is that I don’t know if I’ll be critting enough to keep it up >_< (so far, I’m not planning to get any crit-related traits or gear… but I can be convinced if someone can justify haha).

Also, this might not be the correct thread for it but this mage would be my 3rd level 80 (I have a Mes and a Ranger as well) but I really have zero idea how to go about buying PVT stuff from the Karma vendors. I never really considered it because I’ve often heard how hard it is to get. I understand the vendors only appear after you do a dynamic event but is it like all of the vendors are difficult to unlock or only the balthazar one?

Thanks once again

S/D Elementalist Needs Gear Advice

pyronix.4081

Hi guys,

I’m nearing 80 and I’m loving playing S/D. I tried going D/D but it really just wasn’t for me. Staff is okay but it just feels so clunky and slow after how dynamic and epic the S/D playstyle is.

Anyway I just want to ask for advice on gear set. Right now I’m eye-ing either Carrion or Soldier (PVT) set. I’m going to get both eventually but which one would be good to invest in first?

Carrion = requires money
Soldier = requires time due to dungeon grinding

I don’t PVP.

My playstyle w/ S/D usually involves ramming the mob with RTL, moving out, moving in again to do Earth 5. Moving out. etc. So basically it’s just weaving in and out of melee range constantly.

I’m looking for a dungeon specific gear set. I know PVT is the best overall but is Carrion really that far behind? Right now (I’m level 77) I’m running with Carrion and I’m doing okay. I’ve just gotten the Lifetime Survivor achieve which is ironic since I’m on a mage and I’ve never gotten it either w/ my 80 ranger, mesmer or necro. >_<

Here is my target setup at 80:

Would appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Automated Banning - Why?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: pyronix.4081

pyronix.4081

What I’m asking for is:

1. Transparency. What specific action or sequence of action did you, ANet, deem “illegal” so as to ban us when we are in fact not in violation of any of the terms of service? Is it the fact that we keep running the same DE’s over and over again for extended period of time? If yes, please inform us so that we will not do it even though this provision is nowhere to be found in the terms of service.

2. Due Diligence in investigation. Given that the bot reporting system is dependent on players’ honesty, what is in place to make sure that this system is not abused by other players? Based on recent experience, it seems that me and my brother’s account has been banned for botting jsut because some other player reported us as such, and no real investigation was done before the ban was passed. The only investigation that was done was AFTER we contested the ban and was subsequently proven innocent. Why does the system work on a guilty before proven innocent method? In short, you are allowing players to harass other players by reporting them and the victims subsequently getting banned without prior thorough investigation.

I am here to ask for this information because I don’t want this to nightmare of an experience to happen to us again. Playing GW2 w/ my brothers have been a really great way for me to bond with my brothers over the christmas break, and this botting thing has really put a damper on what would have been a great christmas experience for us.

Thanks in advance.

Automated Banning - Why?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: pyronix.4081

pyronix.4081

Hi Team,

I am creating this thread in hope that you will answer my questions/concerns below since customer support is not answering my question/giving a reply that makes no sense at all (please refer to screenshot of question and reply attached).

First things first:

1. Me and my brother got banned for allegedly “botting”. We both created support tickets for this

2. After around 12 hours, received confirmation from a GM via support system that the ban has been reversed. Thanks for the quick response

3. I am now able to log into the game. My brother is still unable to log into the game because he ran into some other password reset problem (the password given to him by the GM worked but when he tried to reset his password, the password reset utility gave him an error and now he can’t log into his account either with his old or new password)

The events leading to the ban:

1. I gifted my brother with a GW2 account several days ago. I’ve been a guild wars 2 player myself for around 4 to 5 months now

2. My brother figured out that the fastest way to level was to run the DE circuit in Kessex Hills doing a. repairing the bridge -> b. kill the harathi lieutentants -> c. kill the harathi overlord -> d. go to the swamp and check if the krait hypnoss event or the sylvari settlement events are up and do those -> go back to a.

As a side note: I’ve never done DE farming myself for the past 4 months I’ve been playing GW2, but we wanted to do an in-game activity that we could do together and apart from dungeons and WvW, the only other recourse is DE’s (as doing hearts together is pointless since you really can’t help each other out). Dungeons in this game are a pain to run (even story mode) and are so very unfriendly to casuals, and none of us are really into that whole WvW thing.

3. We have been doing this repeatedly for more than 8 hours a day (it’s Christmas vacation – we don’t have anything else to do) WITHOUT the use of any bot, 3rd party programs, macros, or any automated means -> in short, we are acutally in front of our PC’s/laptops, playing the game together. Since he’s in another room, we use skype to communicate to each other.

Let me just reiterate this again – WE ARE NOT USING ANY BOTS, MACROS, 3rd PARTY PROGRAMS OR WHATNOT. It’s me, and my brother, and my other brother, in front of our PC’s and laptops talking to each other over skype the whole time ALL THE TIME we are running these events. I say this because some people here in the forums tend to take this condescending tone and say “I don’t believe you, you can’t be banned if you’re actually not doing wrong”. Well hello there, please refer to my case.

Anyway, earlier yesterday, we both woke up to find that our accounts have been banned due to “botting”.

I was given the impression that any bot reports are thoroughly investigated by a real person before an account termination is passed (as evidenced by red response in this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Review-Automatic-Ban-Mechanisms/ among others).

I find it very hard to believe that a real person investigated our accounts before banning us for botting because a real live person investigating would immediately see that we are OBVIOUSLY not botting just by observing how our characters move, act, and interact with other players in game.

This is apart from the fact that we have invited other people to join our Kessex Hills farming party because most people stop at Harathi Overlord and we need people to come with us to the Krait Hypnoss event to kill those faster.

There are party chat with me giving instructions to other random people we meet and party up with on which event to do next, where to go next, and so on. We have stopped doing circuits from time to time to eat, take a bath, sleep, and so on. All of these evidence would be transparent from in-game activity logs (which I assume the game keeps to help GM’s investigate these allegations).

I cannot think of any reason or any activity that we have done in-game which would even make us suspects for botting apart from running the same 4 to 6 dynamic events in Kessex over and over and over again for extended periods of time. Last I’ve heard, this is still a legal way to level up. Please correct this impression if I’m wrong.

What would have been a great cap to a christmas vacation enjoying my time with my brothers have now turned sour because of this. The three of us have been hardly sleeping (yes, I have two brothers but only me and one of my brothers got banned) because we have been having so much fun running these events and figuring out how to kill Harathi Overlord even when there’s only the three of us (which we did, by the way).

Banned for leveling up via DE?

@Malediktus – Seriously? Did you even read what I wrote? If you actually read what I wrote, I already contacted customer support and my account ban has already been reversed. The point of this thread is to figure out what is causing me and my brothers’ account to be banned when we are very well within what I perceive to be legal leveling methods which is farming these DE events over and over. Do you think I’d be on this forum asking this question if I was actually guilty of running a bot program? Please have some common sense.

@Xia – Exactly. This is exactly why I am surprised that I even got banned. Given the fact that me and my brothers play independently, our characters are NEVER in the same spot similar to how multiboxers and botters look like in game. I’m a mage so I tend to move all over the place. My other brother is a Warrior, and the other one is a Guardian so they tend to be less all over the place since they alternate as tanks and aggro controllers. Of course when you’re moving from one DE to another, you tend to move together (but not exactly in the same path as multiboxers/botters).

We even party up with some other people who we see are farming the events because most people stop at Harathi Overlord and go back to bridge, and we want to get more people involved in the circuit we’re doing so we can run it faster/more efficiently. What me and my brothers do is run down to the swamp area and clear the Krait Hypnoss or regain/defend the Sylvari settlements if any or both of those events are up.

So again, I still don’t see any reason for getting banned aside from some sick person reporting us as botting and ANet not doing due diligence in really verifying if a person is botting or not.

Just to add – I’ve never done the Cursed Shore circuit but isn’t that essentially the same thing? Running DE’s over and over again?

Also, my brother has just told me his account is still banned.

Hi ANet,

Me and my brother got banned yesterday (supposedly for “botting”) for doing the following circuit in Kessex Hills over and over and over again non-stop for around 10+ hours each day:

1. Prevent the centaurs from taking over the bridge
2. Kill the Harathi Lieutenants
3. Kill the Harathi Overlord
4. Go down near the sylvari swamp area and kill the 4 Krait Hypnoss
5. Teleport back to the nearest waypoint near the bridge

The reason I’m posting this in the Dynamic Events forum and not in the Accounts forum is because I’ve already raised a support ticket and my account has already been un-banned (TY SO MUCH GM Kirito for the quick response!!). My brother is checking right now if his account has been unbanned as well.

My question is:

Is it illegal to do these dynamic events over and over and over again? I don’t see any note of this in the terms of service.

Me and my 2 brothers have run this circuit non-stop every waking hour for the past week and we’ve decided to play this way as the level gained was very efficient versus the time we spent. Please note that WE ARE NOT BOTTING or using any macro or automated means of leveling. We’re just doing one event then running to the next as quickly as possible.

This actually also begs the question as to how and why we were flagged and subsequently banned for botting when we were very obviously not botting (unless they’ve started making bots that dance, jump for no apparent reason – which I tend to do a lot when I’m playing, talk to people, party up with people, strategize how to kill Harathi Overlord with less than 5 people, etc. etc). ANet has frequently indicated that it does not use automatic means of banning people but any regular person would immediately notice that we ARE NOT BOTS just by the way we played and moved in game.

An official response would be very much appreciated as this almost ruined Christmas vacation for me and my brothers (the GW2 account of my brother that was banned was a Christmas gift from me – you can imagine how upset he was being banned after barely sleeping for the past week farming Kessex Hills).

Thanks.

Hi guys,

Got back from a long vacation and missed the first half of Wintersday. I just want to confirm if I missed out on any exotic weapon, trinkets, or armor that they give out during events (like the back piece for Halloween or the accessory for Lost Shores). I really don’t care much about skins, or crafting materials, minipets, achievements, etc.

Thank you and cheers! Advanced Happy Holidays to you all.

Why are humans talking about being part of the Wyld Hunt? I thought Sylvari was the only race that went on Wyld Hunts.

I was in Sparkfly Fen in Fort Cadence and I noticed this conversation between a Hylek and a clearly HUMAN crusader.

Hylek says, “And you? Why Vigil and not Wyld Hunt?”

HUMAN Crusader 1: I have not yet received a call to my Wyld Hunt.

HUMAN Crusader 2: It is the same for me.

I’m like… WTF??

You can see the conversation dialogue in the screenshot attached plus proof that it’s really a human.

Me and my bro LF PvE guild

in Guilds

Posted by: pyronix.4081

pyronix.4081

Hi guys,

Currently on Sanctum of Rall but willing to transfer to another server for a suitable guild.

We are looking for a US-based guild that is:

1) Laid back – does not force or guilt trip members to join guild runs either in dungeons or WvW, etc

2) Open-minded and LGBT-friendly. Not that I am LGBT, but I don’t like being in guilds that are racist or prejudiced towards certain types of people, beliefs, etc. In my experience, guilds that are proactively opening their arms to a wider range of people are friendlier and more fun to be with

3) PvE centric – dungeons, JP’s, hearts, group events, etc. My brother and I do not PvP and very rarely do WvW.

4) Noob friendly. My brother just started playing guildwars 2 (although he already levelled an engineer to 80 because he plays A LOT). He got kicked recently from our previous guild without warning because he was “not repping”. Bottomline was that he had no idea that you had to represent guilds in this game by clicking on a button on the guild screen. Long story short, the whole situation was handled badly by the guild leader and the general attitude of the guild leader was just so off-putting so here I am looking for a guild that would understand and give a bit of leeway if a noob makes a mistake. We are trying to avoid guilds that require their members to be “leet” or anything of that sort.

5) 200+ members OR those with 50+ active members at any time throughout the day. This is just to make things easier to look for people to do group stuff with.

6) Has members who are, at the very least, not rude to others.

What we can offer:

1) We rep 100% of the time and play more than 8 hours per day. We’re not hardcore players in the sense that we’re doing top tier stuff but we’re online a lot just leveling up and doing hearts, exploring, doing dynamic events, group dynamic events, learning dungeons, etc.

2) We’re not boisterous or crass or obnoxious in any way and we don’t talk in guild chat unless we have something productive to contribute to the discussion

3) We help whenever and where ever we can to other players especially newbies

4) My brother plays majorly in AUS time while I play usually in late EU or early US time.

5) We really don’t care that much for guild buffs so it’s not really a big priority for us.

If you think you’d like us to join your guild, please send me a PM on this forum or a mail in-game with the ff info:

1) your server
2) your game ID
3) number of members you have (total) since we’re hoping to join a large guild to make it easier for us to find groups when me and my bro’s schedules align and we can run dungeons together

TY.

I am totally on board with OP on this one (although I am NOT even racially near being welsh). Language conveys meaning. If you are taking inspiration from a particular culture, demographic, race, or nationality, there has to be at the very least an awareness of what things mean – both in context and denotation – otherwise you run the risk of accidentally offending a whole group of people.

In the same manner that people sometimes complain and/or make fun of and/or attach racial stereotypes to those with nationalities who do not speak English as a first language, the point raised by the OP is a very valid one.

Hi Nomadic Reverie, that sounds like an account or technical issue. You can raise a ticket to support.guildwars2.com about that but that has never happened to me even across playing different computers.

After reading some of your post, I noticed something. You keep posting your personal complaints and opinions as if they are statement of fact, and wording them as if you are confident the entire community agrees with you.

You also have violated clear rules in the forums code of conduct, which had you read. link an address to post complaints. By that I mean the same CoC you agree to read before posting here. You know, its the same one you blatantly ignore, them cry when you get in trouble for it.

Hello, thanks for your feedback and patronizing tone. However, your response is in no way constructive or helpful to me.

The CoC contains 2 links:

1. Customer Support – technical and account issues

2. forums@arena.net – forum moderation escalation

However, it does not contain any information on how one raises “complaints and opinions” in general (not forum related). I don’t have an account or technical issue, and whatever forum moderation issues I have have already been raised to the e-mail stated above. I still don’t know, however, where I can raise general game complaints and issues.

As a paying customer, I deserve the right to provide feedback to the company providing the service, and feedback can both be good or bad. However, as “complaint” threads are locked even though the CoC does not specifically state that you cannot complain in the forums, I am looking for the correct channel where I can raise said feedback and be treated properly (i.e. given a proper response and acknowledgement of said issues).

We absolutely have PvE in mind when balance changes are made. Our designers, while having certain projects they work on (PvP, WvW, dungeons, etc.), are invested in the overall feel of combat in the game. It is a delicate balance, no doubt, but one we take very seriously.

Thank you for your constructive feedback, and feel free to make suggestions where you think changes could be made.

Thank you so much Allie. Such a relief. I know a lot of people see end-game in GW2 = PvP or WvW but I’m really hoping it wouldn’t be. I’m a bit of a carebear when I play MMO’s (I don’t like the idea of killing other PC’s) and I really enjoy the PvE aspect of GW2 a lot.

Once again, such great response from your team on this thread. TY vm.

Good thing you came in here and cleared it up. Apparently the huge amount of PvE content released in comparison to PvP stuff wasn’t a big enough hint of where their focus was. Do you even read the patch notes? The vast majority of things are for PvE players.

The discussion was about balance, and I was talking in the context of balance based on Jonathan’s reply.

Also, you can do without the condescending tone.

hello…

This is how LA chat in our server (SoR) looks like. And this is on overflow. >_< I approve of the people saying that we need a dungeon finder/LFG tool. I also approve of those saying that it’s making grouping very difficult. Maybe reduce the level startification? I dunno… probably just make it four of them like – normal, heroic, elite, and inferno mode?

I was lucky enough to find nice people who knew how to play during my first run in FotM so not really feeling the pain… yet. I came into this game expecting a gear treadmill (albeit much less than the one from that game we used to play), so I suppose I’m looking at this from a diff perspective.

Hi,

I love the concept of map channel. It’s so Barrens Chat.

However, the LA map chat is filling up with gold buying spammers (and yes I report each and every one I see).

1. I am wondering why the system does not automatically put a person on block whenever I report for spamming and I have to do it in 2 button clicks. It makes sense to me that if you’re reporting someone for spamming, you don’t ever want to talk to that person again. Please make is such that when we report a person for spamming (or botting), that person is automatically placed in our block list as well.

2. FotM invite spam – I honestly don’t mind it. It’s actually nostalgic of the /LFG and /Trade of that other game we all used to play. However, it would be nice to have a separate channel for it apart from Map chat. That way, people playing across the whole server can respond to the LFG and we could have a map channel back where people actually converse.

TY.

EDIT: Attaching screenie.

Dear Moderators,

You locked my other thread, which I thought had a clearly and civilly stated question without providing an answer to the question.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/forum/Complaints-Proper-Channel/first#post822269

This is my question – where can I file complaints and grievances about the game IN GENERAL where I would know that a person will listen and evaluate the problem?

I understand that you cannot complain about forum moderators in the forums. That’s not even the topic.

I was asking WHERE I can complain about general game issues since your forum policy says that paying customers cannot do this in the forums, so surely, there must be another way we can provide this form of feedback (because a complaint is still a form of feedback).

Do you understand the difference?

Let me spell it out:

A) a person complaining about forum moderation

B) a person asking what the correct channels are to raise general (and let me clarify again, NOT forum-related) game complaints and feedback since, by your forum policy, the forums is not the correct channel for this

The thread you closed and this thread is dealing with situation B and has absolutely nothing to do with situation A. There is no rule in your code of conduct which states that a person cannot ask in the forums what the correct process is for raising complaints, grievances, is there?

So please give me a proper answer so we can get past this and I hope I made myself crystal clear with the intent of the question that I need an answer to.

Guild Wars 2 Story Research

in Personal Story

Posted by: pyronix.4081

pyronix.4081

1) What is your age? Gender?

Male, late 20’s

2) How important is a game’s story to you? Why?

VERY IMPORTANT. A game that does not have a compelling storyline does not maintain my interest even if the graphics are gorgeous (of course, there are exceptions based on game types – e.g. angry birds does not need to have a compelling story for it to be addictive but since you’re asking in an MMORPG context, i’ll be answering in an MMORPG context). A lot of people play MMORPG’s to escape into a fantasy alternate reality similar to when you read a book. It follows that the books to be interesting for you to keep reading it.

3) Within a game’s story, are you more interested in individual characters, or in bigger events and groups?

Individual characters

4) In regards to your own character, do you identify with them? In other words, do you view your character as yourself? Or do you view your character as a separate entity which you created?

I view them as an alternate reality of myself – not exactly me, but an aspect of my personality. I would sometimes play certain characters (like my Asura engineer) as a hyperactive silly little Asura bent on dominating the world. I’m not like that in real life but I do have that side of me that wonders from time to time how that’d feel like. On another character, a Sylvari, I play them very seriously since the Sylvari are a sober race (which is more related to how I really am in real life).

5) Do you view your character’s progression as something you create/determine, or something the game itself creates/determines?

The game itself creates/determines. Basing on how GW2 game progression is designed, it’s not as if you have a choice There are only limited options as to how you can progress.

6) What do you view as your character’s ultimate goal? Is it different from the goal of defeating the final dungeon or raid boss?

Actually, when I play MMO’s, I don’t play them with an “ultimate goal” in mind. The world is open ended. Once I reached level 80, I’ll just run dungeons, upgrade my gear, and such. There’s no “end goal” so to speak.

7) How effective do you find personal story in MMORPGs (usually done through personal instances/quests)? Do you find it disjointed from the rest of the game, or do you feel it fits well with the rest of the game?

In the context of GW2, I think it fits well with the rest of the game. I can’t say the same for the other MMORPG’s I’ve tried.

8) How do you view the idea that many other players are also playing through the same personal story?

I think this has been raised before in the Personal Story forums as well. I really don’t mind. When I play the game, I don’t think “oh noes, everyone else is the same exact hero who did the same exact thing”. I think that’s not the right way to approach this game. It’s the same thing with single player RPG’s. You don’t play Mass Effect thinking that there are a bazillion other players who probably made the exact same choices and got the same ending as you. The only difference in MMO’s is that you meet these other people inside the game. But again, this does not affect how immersive the game is for me in any way.

9) How do you view your character’s personal story in relation to the larger stories in the game, or the lore of the game? Do you see a difference between individual story and group story in the game?

I’ve done only a few dungeons so far. I have to say that at the moment, I don’t see any differences but that may change once I try all of the dungeons.

Mesmer or Necro ? -> Want long range nuker.

in Mesmer

Posted by: pyronix.4081

pyronix.4081

I’ve never seen any necromancer actually nuking something in long-range, outside of lich form.

I think that’s because their only long range nukes are on staff weapon. Staff autoattack deals very low damage and is single target, the rest are various ground-targeted AoE effects. That’s not really what you call a “long range nuker”.

Hi Snoxx,

Staff#1 skill is actually a piercing attack so it damages enemies along a line.

For example imagine this scenario:

U = Your character
X = mob 1
Y = mob 2

Set-up:
U —-——- X —-——— Y

If you attack X with Staff#1, you will not damage Y unless Y is just directly behind X.

If you attack Y and X is in the line between you and Y, X gets damaged as well.

That being said, to maximize staff damage, you choose the enemy farthest from you and then position yourself such that it will hit other enemies between you and targetted mob.

Life Blast can be traited to work like this as well but has reduced range. See http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Unyielding_Blast for details.
