Unwittingly, Cameron proved Kitty.1502’s point here. Robert Hrouda was similarly enthusiastic about trying to deliver the best dungeon experience possible a few years ago and now their existence doesn’t even get acknowledged. We, as players, don’t want this to happen to raids. His point is that we want them to grow and flourish, not be forgotten entirely like dungeons. It would be depressing to see the raid team disbanded not long after release, just like with the dungeon team.

Well I’m glad that after 2 years, people still remember the saint that was Robert Hrouda (sp?). I knew many players that poured their hearts and souls into this game due to their love of what could have been the dungeons, but ultimately, got tired with the same old same old. It’s a shame nothing has changed in all this time.

Also, the setup i use replaces not so useful default keys too

Well the no grub/bubble/kick rule is always in place when soloing lupi on thief because the grub will knock you down and locusts kill you, bubble almost 1shots you and kick almost one shots you. With 3 in acro+signet of agility phase 3 in mid wouldn’t be hard. Phase 2 has never been difficult on thief..
Edit: The opposite of soft is changed to kitten.

The entire second part of your post is almost completely pointless, because as I said in my original post 2 0 0 6 6 is a fairly strong build without PoI. It’s not like you’re just investing all-in just to get some might; vigor/dodging ………………….

You did misinterpret what I was saying wrong but that’s alright. It’s hard to determine the meaning behind the words when it’s on the internet.

With this next part of what you’re saying though, you’re basically agreeing that PoI isn’t too strong since it only gives a few might stacks, you’re heavily implying that everything else combined is what’s op. Why not just open your thread with that ideal?

nik, that’s why you edit out the fails and only show what the people want to see… you killing the boss. Tick even did that at a few points (everybody can make mistakes).

The main problem with most of the footage is it’s from before april, and I hear there was a significant nerf to crit damage then. I only recently started playing again so not sure exactly what happened

Edit: How did you manage to dps down the last boss before getting tped out? I tried duoing it with a friend recently and we just barely made it with the two of us.

The solo was done a few days ago. I didn’t know the mortar kit existed until someone commented on my vid too so that’d make it easier. You can see what I did in the video that’s posted though… All I did was dps her to half, leave and let her reset, kill ALL the mobs that spawn (getting them to not run past you is hard), then kill them. If you stay by the stairs you’ll be invuln to their attacks so you just have to worry about not getting kicked around too much by the deadeyes (but inquest can hurt you).

I tried over and over and over to burst her down and the closest I got was just under 10% hp. If thieves guild did damage to her I’m certain the burst would still work

I actually have a few. If you want I’ll post the most recent one I did in regular speed. Wasn’t really planning on it otherwise. It’s the most relevant because the rest I did were about a year ago. The only really hard part about Lupi is his p2 aoe. The only reason that’s hard is because you can double or even triple dodge it and still get hit/1shot…

Looking forward to that video, how long do you think it’ll take to learn lupi solo? It seems like the slightest mistake and you get 1 hit.

It’s up now. Should have been when you posted but I was being dumb and forgot to publish lol. It took me almost a day the 1st time I did Lupi solo but I was also using a very sub-optimal build. If you’ve done arah lots I bet you could do it in a couple hours the 1st time. Every time after that will be much faster.

when you were using cluster bomb on the boxes to heal, why wouldn’t you explode them to heal 3x as much?

Also I just finished a p2 solo, will post a link to it in here when it’s uploaded. Should show a few decent tips. The only really annoying part is the final boss because now you almost have to kill all the mobs before you’re able to fight the actual boss. There is a way to cheese the boss but that doesn’t count if you’re looking for the satisfaction of a real solo.

P3 is much easier to solo for a thief, then comes p2 and after that comes p1 of course, cause of tar.

With the exception of tar, I actually find p1 to be the easiest and p2 much easier than p3.

In sPvP, at least in hotjoins which I play, having SB on khylo helps me move around the map REAL FAST. You get access to many shortcuts in various parts of the level, and it helps when you are running away or need to decap far. I can’t run my thief in any mode without it :\

To a lesser extent, you can use those tricks with sword 2 and shadowstep/shadow trap.

3 suggestions

1 and 2 could actually be good ideas (assuming stealth actually needed balancing). Thief would for sure need access to more unblockable attacks as they are already getting kitten on by guards (basically immune to bas venom).

3 is terrible as it would be a ridiculously unfair nerf to the entire class for no reason. You’d just force every thief into a dodge spam s/d build.

One? If you want to necro them, you could probably find a thousand (not exaggerating).

here’s an old one of mine. If you ever get low, you can LoS behind the pillar to help save yourself. I’ll also upload a better one later on to help you out.

Use melee weapons

If you just sit back and watch a few of your attempts, you’ll easily be able to see when you cast pistol whip and learn the point when to cast it to guarantee the evade on her fire. As a tip, it’s almost immediately after she fires you should be recasting. If you do it right, there’ll be 3 evades in a row then dodge roll the next one.

Careful when teleporting to chase her down though. She’ll often toss out her electro ball and unfairly 1 shot you in melee range.

I’m d/d s/p. I do have a sbow in my inv but that’s only used sparingly. It works very well, even in wvw (but I roam and hate fighting in zergs).

As a thief player, the only part that makes me want to rip out my hair is in phase 2, sometimes his aoe bugs and you get hit after the double dodge while directly under lupi. It only really sucks when you get instad that unfair manner.

I guess getting 1 shot by his phase 1 kicks is pretty annoying too…

I tried and tried. I even managed to get it about 10% charged… although that was dumb luck and nothing came of it.

Came back to the game about 2 weeks ago and wanted to see if I could still solo something. The choice was easy because I still needed story mode for my new character. This is the result. Hope you enjoy the video

Are you really still trying to argue that guardian has more dps than warrior? And where did you get these numbers from exactly? I’m not saying guard is a bad class, just the total DPS is lower than warrior. The burst is higher is certain circumstances that is true, but not all.

If you want to put the guard’s best melee burst skill vs the warrior’s melee best dps skill, ofc the burst is going to kill a weak target faster. That comparison is about as relevant as using warrior kill shot vs guard smite. Kill shot – dead in 2s (charge time) vs guard smite – dead in 4s (random number out of kitten to estimate kill time with smite). Besides, warriors don’t just stand there with hundred blades and wait. They throw the gs, charge, then spin away. Target(s) are dead 95% of the time and the war hasn’t lost a step.

The fact of the matter is, class doesn’t matter at all for pve roaming. Open world is stupidly easy. Any class can safely run around and kill anything they want. Vets may take a few extra hits and champions may require some thought but everything can be taken down. If it’s the minor mobs that die in 2 hits, guards will 2 shot them slightly faster than most warriors. If it’s a vet or champion, warrior will kill those faster. In group events, both of them are very much appreciated to have around (just like every other class in the game… except rangers).

Most forgiving would be 2-0-6-6 because of all the toughness and heals. Most effective would be 5-6-0-3 to do it in a quarter the time.

Also using sword for p2 and p3 make it pretty nice for escaping the projectile aoe, circle drain, and bubble (if you ever get caught in it). If you want to do lupi in a quarter the time though, try using daggers and use shadowstep for any bubble/bad situation aoe, roll for ini for circle drain, and smoke screen for p2 aoe. I don’t suggest using this build cause it’s just not my preference but it’s forgiving.

Don’t let others confuse you … how you kill fast in openworld farming (where the mobs’ hits don’t hurt enough to care and they typically die in 5-8 hits) is NOT the same thing as dungeons

It may not be the same but I kill most open world mobs in 1-3 hits with my dungeon gear. Only thing that would take 5-8 hits would be a tankish vet. Although, I am a thief… although I see do wars burning things down only slightly slower than me but it’s always in aoe and they are much tankier.

here’s another solo where she teleports. Doesn’t make the fight harder for thief (except when she surprise 1 shots you for no reason), just makes it longer.

2nd Fastest guard soloing lupi. 5:18. He relied on perfect reflects to do 1/3 to 1/2 oh lupi’s hp bar to get anywhere close to that fast. He also pushed him to wall.

A war solo that doesn’t use the wall in any phase so it shortened his time by a minimum of 10s. He did it in 4:50. That’s only his damage, no reflecting the projectiles to double his dps for free.

Guard record 4:24. He self admits to “heavy abusing of reflections”

War record 4:18. Only his own damage to bring down Lupi’s hp bar. He used the wall

Post patch for same war 4:29 and he claims it wasn’t that good.

Warrior has higher dps. If you count abusing reflects vs bosses that spam projectiles, then guard has comparable dps. Guards are a favorite in speed runs because their aiges means you spend time attacking instead of dodging. They also have said reflections for abusing boss mechanics and making it easier for other party members to continue dpsing.
