I have 4 lvl 80’s, a thief, necro, ranger, and mes. I really liked the necro in the early lvls but became fairly underwhelming as it lvl’d up (esp damage wise). Ranger was fairly blah. Mesmer would be fun if it had any mobility and decent aoe.
Now the thief. I have had my thief since the start, lvl’d it to 80 first, love every bit of the thief playstyle, have 100% world completion, full equipment… yet is the only one I am not bored of playing.
Please make another class like the thief because as I said, have completed basically everything possible except making a legendary. I want to be able to enjoy another class instead of having the feeling of grinding through the game with anything that isn’t my thief.

depends if the pug is just ignorant as to what they need to do and are willing to listen or if they are just being jerks who happen to also suck at the game and not be willing to listen to any advice. If it’s the former I stick it out with them, teach them what to do, and usually get out doing alright. If it’s the latter, probably kick a few and bring in guildies/buddies who I know are good. If they are all terrible and annoying, leave. Rarely have to do that though.
Also before I kick someone I let them know my intentions. If they don’t straighten out their act, they’re gone.

I lol’d when you based everything you felt off 1 story mode run on the easiest dungeon. CM and TA are much the same, just need to have decent reflexes and understand the mechanics of your enemies. However, when you get to dungeons like SE, CoE, HotW, and especially ARAH… and even to some extent CoF, you’ll realize just how much your opinion will change. Also NEVER base your first dungeon experience on a story mode. They are usually designed to be stupid easy compared to the em modes (not SE though, that was worse than the em modes).

Also don’t know if this is intended but I found a way to get back into the ring, over the bone wall, with the pirate boss in P2 (the one that summons himself over and over). You can climb one of the pillars and if you have enough speed, you can jump onto one of the broken beams. From there you can jump over the wall.
IMO you should leave that there since it really did promote clever thinking to get over that wall. Also since there is no other way to get it, it felt very cruel to not let the player know that there’d be no obvious way to get back in esp if it is their first time.

Ye, I know that this skill is bugged, just saying how to minimize the risk of getting it. I haven’t got it even once though.
yea yesterday our fire guy didn’t know quite what to do so one of our guys got tar’d at the start, we reset to get his skills back… but since we reset, the tar stayed above ground and immediately started attacking anyone in range. Since I was the new tar guy AND first one back in the room, I got tar’d. No one expected that so another guy got tar’d before we got the fight under control.
Also for bugs on tar monster.
If all players continue to stand on tar spouts throughout the fight, when the tar monster goes back into the ground, it will not pop back up unless more than one player gets off the spout and gets back on. I KNOW for a fact that not all 4 players need to get off the spouts because the other guy who got tar’d afked/sleep emoted on the tar spout for the rest of the fight. Since I was on whiskey duty, I watched as the 3 other players stepped off the spouts 1 by 1, always 3 people standing on the spouts, but after the 3rd guy got off and on the boss came back out.

You need to keep tar boss perma burned, otherwise he will use that skill .
I know, still doesn’t change the fact that when he comes out of the hole and immediately tars someone (whether they dodge it or not they will get hit) or if the whiskey guy goes down (he loses the bottle) and he tars someone else, that person won’t be able to use any skills until they relog. So even though your comment may be helpful to others, it is not a bug fix.

P1, tar monster
When a player gets covered in tar it’s basically good night. They can’t move for an entire minute, the tar CAN’T be burnt off, they can’t use any ability to get out, if they go downed and res they won’t be able to use any abilities. If they die, wp back, they won’t have any abilities. If they somehow manage to survive the full minute they will be granted with, you guessed it, the ability to have no abilities.
Sometimes the NPC disappears and you can’t find her.

please do it. On the GoM server the gates got bugged hours after the last reset. I was among the group that defended the gate the first time then logged off to go to bed. When I woke up the gates were closed and the event bugged.

Blinds are less effective on enemies with the Defiant buff.
so using unload as my projectile finisher behind smoke screen 3 times in a row and still every one of the hunter’s attacks hit is just because blind is less effective? He IS immune to blinds sadly.

Deadeyes, you can block their sniper fire with abilities like smoke screen but if you use dagger storm, the shot will shoot right through your reflection and drop you instantly. Also blinds don’t do anything

Don’t know if it is intended but their chaos storm damage seems way too high considering the minimalistic damage the player’s chaos storm can deal.
If only 1 player is inside the city at the time and they talk to the npc to decide which path to take, if the player accidentally presses the interact button (for me it’s f) the path choice screen disappears and can not be brought back up again.
I found this ^ out when I decided to solo the p3 first 2 bosses. Reset the dungeon and was actually able to kill them both. They should be buffed imo, not hp wise but damage wise. Also the hammer guy shouldn’t just have the 1 attack and should be able to kill people if they are standing on those 2 balls on the wall.
Sometimes an enemy can attack and kill you but if you try to attack them it indicates that they are invulnerable. Can happen of any non boss type champion.
Also the gates of arah won’t open so people can’t even get into the dungeon but you all obviously know about that one already.
And that is all I can think of atm but I am tired so maybe I’ll remember more later.

on a further note about what you said my groups had found a way around that, the person the npc was following stays outside and spam chats with her. The NEW bug however, is that the fire stays after the boss dies so the npc can STILL RUN INTO THE FIRE AND DIE even though the boss had already been killed.
More on p1, the ancient ooze can get stuck in the beside the wall on the left as you turn right, entering on the side with the risen.
Sometimes when standing on the oil spouts for the tar monster, the tar won’t stop spouting thus summoning more tar minions until the person repositions. Also things like guardian burn and engi flamethrower don’t apply the same burn as the 500 year old whiskey. Might not be a bug but certainly doesn’t seem right.’
Sometimes after killing the ooze the 3 risen that are supposed to flood the area get stuck around the corner and don’t go in.
After the NPC dies after the jotun, when I try to bug the door and teleport through it (to get the kitten tokens, do not remove that option), sometimes I can fall through the floor and be able to see the underside of the entire underside of the city of arah. It looks like a floating palace inside an eerie yellowish environment.
P2, all I can think of atm is at the end the visuals for when you’re out of phase sometimes don’t click in or click in and out during the fight.

still haven’t completed p4 so I guess just try and fix those sparks and other than that idk. Oh and the npc also is a melee dbag that spawns grubs, making it impossible to stop Lupi from eating those free grubs unless we intentionally kill the npc before the fight.

Lupi
Sometimes Lupi resets himself back to p1 and full hp even when there are people still in the room and attacking him. This happens especially often when a thief uses the stealth to heal skill or the goes invis at 25% ability while lupi is focusing them. Another This could be fixed by giving Lupi a grace period of something like 15s of 0 damage and 0 targets before he is allowed to reset.
Sometimes the npcs just drop whatever it is they are doing and just sit still until someone actively goes back and searches for them and talks to them. Until that point they won’t do anything and you can’t progress.
Lupi can shoot over some projectile block like smoke screen, not very often but it does happen.
Sometimes Lupi gets stuck on 1 player, once in p2 (p3 is understandable and happens often there but not in p2) he will spam his single target nuke at 1 player up to 4 times, dash to the player, and continue shooting at that same player until they are dead. Thank god I was a thief when this happened to me or else I would have died much faster.
Some projectile reflection abilities (like feedback) can reflect lupi’s rapid fire but it is very inconsistent. If a thief uses dagger storm inside the aoe they still die.
If you are standing a solid foot (assuming a foot in tyria is the same as a foot on earth :P) outside the aoe of both rapid fire AND his p3 drain (where he floats) and it will still deal damage to the player.
Sometimes Lupi won’t do his single target animation or even look at the play but the player will still get struck by an invisible single target nuke, usually happens as he does the animation for his massive aoe attack in p2.
This is merely visual but sometimes when we reset lupi during p1 because grubs, the indicator still says that he has the buffs active even after he resets. This isn’t bad because as soon as you start attacking him again the indicator vanishes.

i disagree with the token exchange 100%. If you want the tokens then do the dungeon. By wearing the arah gear you are showing off that you not only ran the dungeon but that you have the skills to beat the toughest dungeon in the game multiple times. I wouldn’t want someone who spams ac or cof (easiest dungeons in the game) for fast and easy tokens to just swap them over to arah, would make the gear significantly less impressive imo and would overall turn me off from the dungeons in the game.

so my condition necro should be hitting the burrows with about a 20% chance of hitting with any of his attacks instead on hiting the minions in a circle and fearing the breeders when they try to puke up babies. 5 wars is the perfect group for ac 3 but any group can do if everyone is coordinated and plays to their strengths.
On a side note, guardians can do broken amount of damage if they go full zerkers (be sorta squishy but with protection and aiges and heavy armor they still have survivability). They are probably the only profession that can build glass cannon, do glass cannon damage, and still be tough to kill. the greatsword spin and scepter 2 ability are great for those stationary targets. You should try them out

easy there narc, this thread was not started out angry or anything. Of course many of us understand that anet is busy, we are not demanding that these bugs be fixed RIGHT NOW RAGE RAWR FKLFMAORAWR!!! or anything like what you are suggesting, we merely are requesting for the event to reset if it has been inactive for x amount of hours. That isn’t a nearly impossible bug fix, complete with hours of diagnostics and coding, that is pushing a reset button.
If every event had the ability to be “failed” after say 2 hours of 0 progress, then also have the ability to start over again, that would significantly alleviate player stress towards these events. Yes the 2nd suggestion IS a lot of work and would take time to implement, however the 1st suggestion would not.
Btw thank you Anet for resetting the gates yesterday but when I logged on this morning (yes less than 24h had gone passed) the event was already bugged again. Thank god I got my thief inside in time (after having to defend the gate from the wizard first, which we succeeded). The gates closed and event chain bugged when there were hardly any people logged onto our server.

what I don’t understand is why the hell does anet keep putting these patches on that create more bugs of the instances. Revert whatever it is you put into the game that is causing the bugs, not leave it there until you figure out how to unbreak your game. A perfect example of this is the Hatchery quest. Very early after the first week where the bug was noted someone made a fix for the bug, HOWEVER, anet decided to do something with some sound files which made the fix unusable. They added in the new sound files, keeping the bug, instead of removing the bug before putting in new sound files.
Sometimes I just don’t understand why some things happen the way they do but it’s what we have to live with…

Would vastly improve many people’s game experience imo. This is especially true for dungeon instances and escort missions. A command like this would even be of great help in bugged story missions.
Not only would doing this make people more patient as your team works to fix the bugs, it would also allow the players’ to maintain a feeling of engagement into the game. Let me explain what I mean by that. Instead of having a player feel pissed off when Hodgins is standing beside you saying that he wants you to kill the Howling King while you t-bag the king’s corpse, you’d essentially be telling Hodgins to look down on the king’s corpse and realize just how great of an adventurer you are.

bump, but also figured out that it might be reacting to projectile finishers. I found this out when using a projectile finisher with a 100% chance (Lbow 4 ability) would proc opening strike while the 20% chance finishers wouldn’t.

I have noticed that when this ability is active, the player doesn’t get the effects from this ability unless using a melee weapon (and even then it sometimes doesn’t apply the vulnerability). I have tried multiple times and in multiple ways to get the vulnerability to proc while using the long bow but in probably 50 tries, not once did it cause vulnerability. When using the gs, it would usually proc regardless of which ability I used as my first attack but it would sometimes not proc when not using the basic auto attack. Even if I let my pet deal the first blow the passive still doesn’t proc.
Also, in every single one of these cases, the passive was used up regardless if the vulnerability landed.

At least you can do fractals. Every time I get to the end boss the game kicks me. TWICE it kicked me when the boss was sub 10% hp. I only have 1 character at lvl 3 (many more tries to get further) and one at lvl 2 (also got kicked but before the boss).

I’ve been trying and trying to search them up on the tp but every time I search it up it takes a poop and maintains an endless searching circle. I’ve even sifted page by page though the consumable category only to find out that when I finally arrive at where elonian wine SHOULD be, the page crashes again. I can’t even go back or forward in pages cause they all maintain the illusion of being blank.
The strange part is that the tp doesn’t act weird at all if I try to sell some bottles, everything is business as usual there.

Please do a daily reset on the arah gates so that the dungeon is at least possible to enter once a day. Had my main inside the gates for a month when they were bugged, took her out for the Nov event. Now the gates are bugged again and I can’t get back inside ;-(.
Anothing thing that would make the community patient while you work to fix the bugs is to move the wp INSIDE the gates. Hardly anyone uses the wp to land outside the gate only to farm the mobs (except the sparks but you can use other wps just as close), people use that wp to check to see if the gates are open or to do the event to keep them open. Moving the wp inside would keep the option of going there to help with events stay available while the people who use it to get to the sparks could use one of the 2 other really close wps.

it’s one condition on you and cures 1 for each of your allies… meaning each of your allies lose a condition. It is an excellent support ability that also works when rolling solo.

I was right at the “help the stricken quagan” objective, where the 3 stricken quagans are supposed to transform into incebroods but the one we investigate and talk to doesn’t do anything.

At the very end, ala hatchery, one of the sickly quagans (the one with the quest icon over its head) refuses to transform. I kill the other 2 quagans but then am stuck yet again. Being unable to advance in my personal story is beyond frusterating. Please, if it’s another audio log bug that’s causing any previous fixes from working, I’d GLADLY play the mission with NO AUDIO just to finish it. Just please, let me finish this freaking mission.

Since wearing MF gear in dungeons is overall frowned upon by everyone. Easy to understand why, you do less, get carried, yet walk out with the best rewards. Why not instead give each boss a set magic find % at say 150% and that magic find bonus is shared between every party member. The players that do the most during the fights (most dmg, most team buffs, enemy cc, team resurects, interupts, etc.) will get a greater percentage of that magic find buff than someone who does less. Sure the player’s magic find will still contribute but they will be missing out on large amount of that passive magic find bonus just because they have already nerfed their own gear. A system like that would promote the players to customize their gear for maximum combat effectiveness instead on magic find.
