im mixed on this topic, i competently agree there is a lack of new Armour in gw2 and it worries me. mainly due to there being a missed opportunity for game progression. at the same time i do like the outfits in terms of there style. although a lot of outfits i WISH you could change the head armor slot which shouldn’t be hard to implement since you can hide it already.
Wait, is this a concept that someone came up with themselves, or is it a leaked preview of a new legendary shield? I thought it was a player made concept of a new legendary… I’m confused…
its a new legendary coming with next episode in living world. im not a fan of the silly legendaries but it still looks nice. would be cool if when deployed the quagon turned into a dragon corrupted version in the bowl or something. like a trapped experiment lol.
that is a completely normal ping for being oceanic lol thats my life in WvW
not to sure on this one but i know gw2 is heavily cpu dependent. so anything with a very high frequency will do well. gw2 for example does very well when the cpu is OCed or turboed. i recently went from a i72600 stock to a 16600k stock (with turbo 2.9) and i noticed quite ab bit of difference. so if it was me i would go i5 6600/k others may think different though.
as for motherboard no idea wont need an amazing one if your not overclocking though.
why? its just another method of farming like silverwastes. In the end you need the exalted keys to achieve it so it requires you to do pre events. I think its great thats there another method instead of SW for a change.
Don’t delete your old character/s if possible. They have nice Birthday presents coming.
I’d have more to say, but coffee break and phone…
i second this, i came back after 3-4 years and purchase HOT and had so many godam birthday boosters and lvl 30 booster which got me 4 char instant to 30. i have 5 lvl 80s now. again about the trait system has changed alot took me a bit to get my head around despite being quite simple.
im not even at 1 lol. at 0kb/s nut it is going up slowly downloaded 565kbs so far. slowest download ive witnessed since i had dialup back in the day possible slower
gw2 pve has an awesome base
love the combat, the world, the events. its just lacks general things to do needs more small things IMO. for LOTRO as an example loved despite being a grind all the deeds that gave you titles or virtues, all the lore intensive quests and how the cosmetic options. really wish gw2 had some of those. despite being a sandbox mmo it feels like you are pushed in some linear path through the world and theres no reason to stay back and explore aslong as they percent is at 100. i would like to hear stories from people talking about items they found that didnt take crazy skill but look good but were achieved through a sense of exploration. have more to say but cbf thinking lol

as above game is ridiculously bad optimized on the cpu side even with a high end cpu you will still see big fps drops in cities and WvW, just have to wait until Anet figure out whatever is causing such big fps drops. ive disabled cores and dropped graphics incites and only things like shadows and reflections give me boosts to fps but not nearly enough. fps everywhere else is fine.
does anyone know how big the new map is?? possible provide an outline of it so i can see. interested to see how i compares in size to current zones. usually you can see the shape from the shading in the map although im finding it hard with this map lol.
god i hope its not underwater content unless they overhaul underwater combat. get bored and angry after 5mins from being in the water. don’t think i could handle a new zone based in the water.
opened up my pc to take a look at my cpu and realized there was hardly any thermal paste on it left. sadly do not have any so will have to order some. will see if it makes a difference my cpu was getting up around the 80c mark so the temperatures were getting a bit dodgy. running prme95 now and temps are in the mid 70s under 100% load. i doubt this is the issue for my low fps though just something i noticed. not willing to get any new hardware either as the loads im experiencing in gw2 are completely out of whack. 100% usage when i don’t need it and low usage when i do.

i would like a dervish profession or ritualist. dont really want any new races TBH,why? because then they have to make new starting areas, personal story quests, armor clipping issues, more dialogue. waste of development IMO. would much rather then have another zone than a another massive city when we have 5 already.
i owuld actually prefer new weapons instead, like fists, scythes, spear(outside of water),.
i just used a smaa injector sharpens picture up and looks a hell of alot better than FXAA. i recommend it. cant go back after using it.
just wondering if its possible to get the end chest if you screwed it up by looting the first chest.ive done it three times now but chest hasn’t come back(or achievement) starting to kitten me off since its a goal of mine lol
the game is a mix of RIDICULOUS CPU BOUND and random areas of extreme optimization issues. i found another one of those weird areas where the fps take an unnecessary massive hit. it was in dredgehaunt cliffs at the end of the jump puzzle(vista location) literally nothing there that should impact performance. yet when you walk two steps forward your fps drops by about 60fps. makes no sense at all and I believe its could be the issue for performance drops across the rest of the game.
as for the CPU bound issue yeah it is pretty bad. 99% of games my i72kittenas never bottlenecked my gtx670. to get an idea how weird it is in gw2 would nearly have to double my frequency to get the most out of my gtx670. considering the usage never seems to go much higher than 50%. i wish you could just force some cpu task onto your graphics card that way i would see some performance increase.
im 100% sure its the game engine. found another kitten fps drop location. its a test apparatus(lighting effects) in southern lornars pass heart quest. when i look at it fps drops by 60. doesn’t even matter if i can see it aslong as im looking in that direction.
cpu utilization was only at 15% and gpu at 30%. its like the game isnt even recognizing that the effect is there. similar issue in areas of lions arch and a bandit cave in queesndale. ive reported it in bugs but get the feeling that doesn’t actually do anything:(

ive done a bit of over-clocking and my fps has improved quite a bit. I think the sad reality is for alot of people I that the game is just REALLY CPU INTENSIVE. and by REALLY i mean prob the most out of any game is history. what I mean is the ratio this game uses your gpu compared to cpu is almost half of any other game.
to provide maximum performance out of my graphics card(gtx 670) i had to overclock my i72600k to over 4ghz. in other words i don’t think there is a standard cpu out there that can really play gw2 60fps all the time. this is why areas like WvW and cities impact so much because you get an insane cpu bottleneck.
BUT this could be because the game is not optimized that well either. it could be bottlenecking your gpu but not using your cpu efficiently. because even though i have an obvious bottleneck on my i7 2600k the core usage was a bit of a joke. this is why we prob haven’t heard anything from Anet about it because the reality is its just the engine so drivers wont help anything. its all optimization and Anet is prob snowed under with issues as it is.
ive lost hope lol, gono take a break maybe and hope its all sorted in a few weeks. im pretty sure its CPU orientated for me since i can increase my gpu usage by changing settings but it never increases fps its just so dam slow for my rig. what’s worse is most patches have seemed to make it worse. ive updated bios, changed drivers,disabled/re-enabled cpu features, unparked all my cores, fiddled with nvidia control panel, tried overclocking/underclocking my card(no fps change),that stupid YouTube thing. all the time while maintaining amazing fps in every other game i play.
i72600k

gtx670 dc2top.

yeah it was update obviously im guessing. so quick fix hopefully.
found a good way to tell if its a CPU issue for getting low fps
-get a GPU monitoring program like MSI afterburner to monitor your gpu usage/temp in game.
-go to an area that impact alot on fps like lions arch etc
-pay attention to your gpu usage and start uping the visuals from low/medium to high
-if you see the gpu usage going up when you increase the visuals but your fps stays the same its a good sign you cpu is bottlenecking you. this excludes settings like shadows/reflections since they will impact regardless.
this is what i did so im pretty sure its my cpu, even though i have a i72600k so still a bit confused. but my gpu is a gtx670 dc2top so i guess a cpu bottleneck could be possible. but still ive heard of people with same system as me getting double the fps so obv there is some other issue. TBH ive given up though lol ive tried everything and im just going to wait it out and not play WvW.
I can’t shake the feeling that the last fight with the big guy is bugged.
this ^^
the whole dungeon group i was with was just like “seriously this cant be right”. the whole end fight just seemed like a joke +my sound cut-out(the music) making it seem even more lame.
he also launches attacks that do no damage and it take longer than it needs to be for the challenge. just seems ironic that the leader is the easiest to kill in the game. not hating on the dungeon everything up to that point was fun, but they literally killed the whole dungeon/personal story in a matter of 5 mins.
also no follow up quest?? few words from caithe and suddenly your personal story is over no ending celebration honouring the dead type of thing. will be honest i was pretty guttered at the end left a sour taste in my mouth which was an entertaining story up to that point. i would go as far to say they need to redo it because it is quite embarrassing how the mechanics are done sub par to everything else.

update: yeah im almost certain this is a cpu issue. been monitoring my gpu usage ingame and realized when i change settings i see no fps improvement BUT my gpu usage does go up. i maxed the game out and it put my gpu to 85% usage could prob get it higher in WvW.
this leaves the cpu obviously bottlenecking the gpu. im trying to download new bios updates to see if this does anything. im also going to OC my cpu 100mhz to see how much extra fps i get. (cant OC my cpu to much heating is a big issue no custom cooler.)
recommend other high end users do this aswell, note: i am running a i72600k so no crap cpu here. if im correct looks like gw2 will need a cpu of 4ghz quad core to run at max in zergs and stuff. with a graphics card to match.
I have a 670 and have zero issues with frame rate. I’m easily above 60FPS on max settings even in WvW – this is since upgrading the CPU to an i7 2600K, mind.
Last week I was running on an i5-2400 and had to turn reflections and shadows off to stay above 40FPS in WvW.
may i ask what you run your i72600k at? and what model you 670 is. it would help locate my problem more. im having the fps issues the same as everyone else but am running an identical setup to you. i think ive nailed it down to cpu/optimisation. although could be video card still since usage is low when it should be high. thing is my pc has never been running better own bf3 and other game with fps 60fps+ all the time. gw2 in cities/zergs fps drops like hell and gpu/cpu usage is not keeping up. im pretty sure my cpu is doing something like under-clocking or something therefore bottlenecking my video card. for instance when these drops happen if i change my graphics settings makes almost zero difference in fps(im talking 8fps diff from all low to maxed)

dont worry, there’s heaps of people with this issue. i have a i7 2600k and a gtx670. and exactly same thing happens to me. even if i play around with the settings makes no difference in big cities.
yeah thanks alot best mmo in history for me personally:)
good to see IGN gave it a 9 aswell. (10 in graphics :0) well deserved.
agreed i levelled a ranger to 80 but have become lost with the what should i do now? syndrome. just made a guardian and wish i had taken that to 80 first find it alot more entertaining to play.
Hey all,
First, I want to apologize for the amount of time it has taken me to get a post up in this thread. We were digging through all the information we had been able to obtain from everyone, looking for any information that would better help us identify why you all are experiencing the issues that you are.
With that said, we would like you to run the below command which will provide us with a performance profile of your system while running Guild Wars 2.
Please follow the instructions outlined below:
1. Navigate to your “Guild Wars 2” installation folder. By default, this should be C:\Program Files(x86)\Guild Wars 2.
2. Locate “GW2.exe” and right-click selecting “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this new shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Performance Test.”
4. Right-click “Guild Wars 2 Performance Test” and select “Properties.”
5. Locate the “Target” line and add -perfdebug to the end. Please make sure this is outside the quotes in the target line.
Correct Example:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -perfdebugIncorrect Example:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe -perfdebug”6. Once added, please click “Ok” to save your changes.
7. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Performance Test” to start Guild Wars 2.
8. Log into your character and move to an area which you experience poor system performance in.
9. Press “Ctrl+Shift+C” to start a performance profile. This should take about 15 seconds and display a message in the chat window.
10. Once completed, you should be prompted with a save location of the .dat file containing your performance profile.
11. Please locate this file by clicking “Start” then “Documents” then “Guild Wars 2.” Double click the “Profiles” folder and you should see your profile’s “.dat” file.
12. Please compress this file with a program like Winzip, Winrar or 7-zip.
13. After the file has been compressed you will need to change the file extension to something like .piz before you can attach it to your post.Once we have this file, we can examine the results for potential issues.
doesn’t seem to work for me. ctrl shift c doesn’t do anything no message is shown.

I run a gtx 670 and in only certain places do I find that my performance isnt quite as high as it could be. In lions arch my frames drop way more than they should.
I try to play with vsync off but man o man i notice tears bad.
same video car and got the same problem. LA lags me out bad changing from ultra to low only makes a 5fps difference.
there’s also random as spots in gw2 that drops my fps insane. in human starting areas there’s a cave system(with bandits) nothing impressive in the visuals but i dip to 20fps lol. doesn’t make any sense.
well i have
gtx 670
i72600k
8gb ddr3 RAm
found out last night after spending hours trying to attempt to fix that it was my cpu bottlenecking in heavy situations. not sure if it is throttling down or something but def the cpu. what was weird was i temporary OCed cpu 100mhz and it yielded massive fps increase. a hell of alot more than it should. (cant keep OC cause of temp issues)
therefore ive come back to the conclusion the game is just poorly optimized in demanding situations. seems to put to much stress on the cpu compared to te video card. for instance in lions arch if i dropped all my settings to low would only give me a 5fps increase which is a joke.

for anyone who might be in my situation i tried this and got a wee boost in fps.
but more importantly it made me realize the low fps issues (gtx 670 here) is actually the cpu bottlenecking. this makes sense as i change all my settings to low and get a minor increase in fps.
i have a i72600k, and ended up biting the bullet and temporarily overclocking it to 3.5ghz to see. had a massive increase in fps in lions arch, seemed to stop throttling my cpu. this is pretty weird since 100mhz OC yielded me almost double fps.
sadly i cannot keep the OC as my cpu temps get into the high 80s which im not comfortable with.

no s### every patch that gets released my performance drops and drops. in lions arch i get about 30fps and setting are not even maxed. random zones give me massive performance hits and WvW is hell as usual.

I too have been having framerate issues in very specific places, of course, this could all have to do with servers/zone popularity, ect. In some places I get 60+ (on maximum settings) all of the time, others I drop to under 15 with an average of 28-35.
When lowering settings I notice a 5 frame increase, which is of course not worth rough edges and less beautiful vistas.
OS: Windows 7
CPU: AMD FX-8150
GPU: GTX 670
Drivers: 301.42 (I upgraded to the newest, but noticed a increase of lag, and then rolled back)

all 600 users should not worry IMO, clearly there’s an optimization/driver issue with this series. EVERY single one of my mates who has a 600 series is having issue. ive tried all the different drivers zero difference in fps. one of my mates has a 560ti and is getting 20fps more than me in most situations, and im pretty sure he’s running slightly higher settings. so clearly something is wrong. im expecting the fps to double.
