Amazing that this isnt explained anywhere: wiki, google or forums. I will have to assume downed players cant be healed except for the awesome Symbol of Judgement.
No more wasting Healing Springs on downed allies :C
Temporary zombie effects… LOL
Do the other players heals help when you are downed? How about self regeneration from boons and healing signets? Or is it the only way to heal out of downed state is thru the lousy downed skills and getting a revive from others?
Get a cheap sword and warhorn from the trading post and try them out against multiple mobs (not the Lions Arch dummies which would give you a false impression).
You would quickly hate that whole messy combo.
I think you should stick to LB/SB as it appears to be your loved playstyle. Switching to melee with sword is a mess, and you end up losing the DPS anyways trying to get into melee range and out again and the extra dodging you will need to do. Plus you will start dying for the first time ever.
Use SB for close range and defense with #3-5, then mainly keep firing that LB. The SB dmg still gets good bonuses form your zerker gear, think of the bleeds and poisons as extras (some say SB outdamages LB anyways). Also the LB is getting a big damage bump today.
I hope you use piercing arrows too. You are good and have fun
Thanks for the comments.
I already run Transfusion (its great!) but still not sure if either Mark of Evasion or Bloodthirst is best as an additional source of healing.
Been testing Mark of Evasion and its kinda annoying with the 10 second cooldown and making me want to waste a dodge to try to get it and then no Mark. However it does allow me to maintain permanent regeneration (combined with staff Mark of Blood and a boon duration of 100% from traits, runes and food). Using sigils of energy on both weapon sets to recover my endurance on weapon swap.
However it is a lot of work and im not sure im getting much more heals than just sticking with the simpler Bloodthirst trait and exchange the sigils of energy with sigils of leeching.
Any more opinions?
I run a Minion Master (MM) build in PVE and im debating between using the trait Mark of Evasion or Bloodthirst. Which of the two traits will provide more healing?
The GW2 Wiki on Aggro states:
“For a neutral (yellow outlined) NPC the player must attack first to gain its attention. The aggro table of a hostile NPC changes dynamically depending on a number of factors, in order of importance [citation needed] :
1. closest target to them
2. who is dealing damage
3. top damage dealers
4. who is using a shield / has more toughness and overall armor
5. others (see Tanking tactics below)
As a consequence, to lose aggro, the player moves to be further from the NPC than other players or allies and ceases all attacks. A typically effective Guild Wars 2 technique to lose aggro is to pull away from the hostile NPC, which can be quickly achieved by dodging or retreating away from the foe. "
Funny that the last sentence recommends dodging to remove aggro, that brings us up to the point: i need more dodges!
So far im leaning to just taking the 40% endurance regeneration food and lose 10% regeneration after Dec 10…bummer. I researched and the food apparently doesnt stack with the natural vigor boost. The vigor from traits seem not worth it as i use Healing Spring all the time and thats on a 30 seconds cooldown.
I use ranged weapons in both slots: Shortbow and Axe/Warhorn. And for some reason when doing harder content like champs and group events i get attacked most of the time and ran out of dodges fast. Dungeons also expend the dodge quota fast cause the many aoe traps and stuff.
So would i necessarily need to retrait to get vigor and is there a way to attain perma-vigor or seudo-perma vigor?
I dont want to dodge less, thats very boring and reminds me of another MMO im not going back to.
I play mostly PVE and have a Boon/Tank/Ranger build: 0/0/30/30/10.
Will the food buff of 40% endurance regeneration stack with the endurance from trait? So i get 90% regeneration now and 65% regeneration on Dec/10?
Ok, and how do i get that vigor going?
P/P has good AOE if you trait for Ricochet and equip a Superior Sigil of Fire in one of the guns.
S/P is a good one target option too. If you fear your squishiness as i do, just approach from range with a steal or sword #2 and then pistol whip away (pistol whip has a stun and evasion while exectuing so you be mostly unharmed). Also if you fire a black powder on melee range you can just autoattack with the sword. I face tank the Tower’s Hybrid like this. And sword #2 also removes a condition, something thieves lack.

On Dec/10 they are nerfing endurance regeneration from 50% to only 25% on the Wilderness Survival trait line. According to the designers thats a loss of being able to dodge every 6.67 seconds now to being able to dodge only every 8 seconds after patch. Losing 1.33 seconds of dodge wont hurt survival they went on saying.
This is very sad news and crushing to me. I love GW2 mostly because i enjoy the dodge rolls too much. Main reason i havent gone back to my previous addiction of WoW is cause they dont have those dodges.
So after the nerf to endurance regeneration, what do you think will help getting back the loved dodge rolls? Food, traits, sigils, which are the best or most efficient ways to do it without losing too much of the other good stuff we have to trade for it?
The only thing making it hard to go back to WoW:
1. Dodge rolls @ @
2-5. All the already mentioned on above threads and agree
*dec 10 they nerfing the dodges, say wa?
Hell has no fury like a woman scorned. Double that with dual guns.
Bang Bang, beautiful song, love it! May i suggest “These boots are made for walking” (also Nancy Sinatra) as your next video song … please?
Why people say P/P requires no skill? Thats what i main because its more fun and requires more on the spot decision making than my necro and guardian. Its not all spamming Unload as you need to have a reserve for those black smokes and headshots and even body shots, and initiative is so precious. Other professions have easier time as they can just pop whatever is off cooldown.
P/P is superfun and makes for cool videos too. Bang!

Was called “utterly besides the point” and now “make zero sense”, so much for civilized discussion :C
Think Anet doesnt want to buff the thiefs better specs, so asking for vital shot buff (though great, yeah!) harder for them to give us.
Do good players just rely on spamming unload? I want to see that against the darn reflecting projectiles snakes.
Unload costing 4 initiave utterly no the point? Some reasons it migh be on point:
1. Super simple Anet fix that doesnt mess with the other OP d/p, p/d..peediddy etc
2. Buffs P/P dps some, without buffing other specs
3. Leaves room for initiave to use in other smart plays using timely headshots and black powder.
4. Some people love spamming unload, more fun to them
So there, easy fix that buffs the set some while leaving initiave for the offhands. Anet doesnt have time for complex changes or wall of text reading.
Unload costs 4 initiative.
There fixed, next…
Play the thief!
You already having fun, and can keep at it for an extra month. Just dont over rely on the stuff getting a huge nerf like the “permastealth”. By the time the nerf hits, you will already be an awesome thief that can work around the changes.
Worst case scenario, you got to see the thief when he was great before he becomes extinct. Then go play mesmer, at least you got an extra month of fun out of GW2.
Playing as a thief trying to avoid death all the time improved my guardian and necro survivability, so yes.
Thanks for the recommendations. I was rudely awakened already even with a group of five when i saw all people did was stack and skip mobs.
Because my skills are not that great is why i want to practice dungeons solo or with my partner, and not ruin the rest of the group’s experience. I can kill many champions solo on pve and its fun, so im not that bad.
Thanks for the Arah P2 suggestion ill try that even if it takes me 3 days. Do i need to do Arah P1 first or something?
What are the easiest dungeons to complete solo or with a partner?
I want to experience and enjoy the content and adventure of a dungeon. My first three dungeon runs with a group of five (all very friendly and nice guildies) were all about speed runs and boss stacking; a huge disappointment despite the great fast loot.
As luck will have it my two 80 characters are a Necro minion master and a Thief P/P, which i have read are the worst to bring to dungeons.
So any dungeons i can try to complete with those classes and average-poor playing skill?
Listen to El Taquito Bandito. He is THE P/P. Go search his videos on youtube.
Though in his last video he wins with no weapons, so might have been winning despite using P/P…
Thanks
Ricochet?
Nice job Dolly! I see you used a lot of stealth and LOS smartly to win it but it was darn scary close at times.
What is your build?
Thanks for the the input. Anyone else?
Thank all you thieves for the feedback
Those Madnek youtube videos are helpful for ideas to get those champs. However it did look like he could just have kited that Risen Champion he fought.
Horace just owned my Guardian too lol, and i cant see that being processed video posted by Damage Dolly on how to get him?
I find it very enjoyable hunting down champions in open world PVE and trying to take them on my own. However i have had only had limited succes with my Guardian and Thief.
Any of you have any good ideas to beat most of them champions solo?
Which do you think is the best build(s) for soloing champions as a thief?
I currently play P/P thief just for the fun and cool look factor, and can kill some of the slow melee champions. However the ranged and condition based ones are too hard to solo (like that Horace in Plains of Ashford – and he the reason im asking this lol).
Thanks for your help.
Necromancers are one of the best classes to solo as. They have great survivability and the largest base health pool around. Seems like any class will have trouble tackling content that is too many levels above theirs. You said you had no trouble handling mobs that are up to 3 levels above you, thats is better than most classes could handle on their own. If you need to gain more levels to go to your next quests area, try doing more events, daily achieves and gather or craft some. Also try completing the maps for the city and zone gives xp too.
You can do content thats is a little above your level, but 4 levels above as you are trying would be too much for any class.
In short, you are great soloing as Necro, good pick.
