In the ten years since I first played Guild Wars, then onto Guild War2 three years ago I’ve never once looked anywhere other than a retail outlet for a hard copy (cd and box) for any game I’ve ever purchased) Game, Gamestation etc, and for me, living in England, supermarkets like Asda or Tesco
Now I do understand that in some countries around our beautiful planet, it is hard, if not impossible to buy a hard copy of a game, or even access a website for digital downloads, but do links like this one not work for you?

http://buy.guildwars2.com/

Just like you said, you stepped into a “grey area” to purchase your code, and for that you paid a price. (ban, not the actual cash handed over) the only way the consumer can know if the code is legitimate is to buy it from the people who created it, not a dodgy 2nd, or even 3rd hand website.

Before you ask I haven’t visited it to have a look to see how legitimate mr kingdude is. In ten years I’ve never looked at an in game gold seller or code selling site, EVER for any game I played. (well just look at me and all of my ex-guild mates on our high horses)

Honestly, you won’t get much sympathy from the forum, I think every reply (if anyone does reply other than me) will all be pretty much the same: you went round the back of the supermarket to buy your shopping, expect to get ripped off while there, and then probably banned from the store when they find out that you was really buying stolen goods while round the back.

This may be true but there is certainly a problem, Running and working mastery on 2 accounts I run the exact same buffs, on one account I’m getting bonus on average of 800 or so, on the other account as stated with the exact same buffs. Doing the exact same thing I am getting zero bonus on any kill. Not one time do I see a bonus on the other account doing the mite farm during storm. On the other account I’m constantly seeing bonus given. So yeah there certainly is a problem, no idea what it is.

This isn’t actually a problem, the bonus XP given when a mob dies is due to the length of time between when the mob was last killed and re-spawned, it is not related to Event or Loot DR.
Maybe when you log out, re-load the game and log back into the map, you are landing on a different megaserver shard (remember that they are constantly being created and destroyed) the original shard will always have mobs dying within minutes of a re-spawn, whereas if you land on a fresh copy of a shard, the mobs will have the bonus XP as they have only just been created (and/or) not killed as many times.

It’s been a while since I last had some Dry Top fun, but I believe the mite storm event is massively farmed still, so there’s no wonder they don’t give bonus XP.

Exactly what Mr PopeUrban sir said. He tells no lies. You will no doubt never see the item or money again, the scammer will be perma-banned, but you will not be re-imbursed.

Think of it like this; Two different newspaper headlines.

Today the Queen of Englands’ family jewels arrived safely under heavily armed guard.

Today the Queen lost her family jewels when they fell out of a wet paper bag.

One of the statements is akin to the Trading Post, the other is like trusting your jewels in a wet paper bag.

Wasn’t there also a pc/console games shop in this show that used to have a featured game in shot of the camera?
GW2 made it onto that slot in one particular episode (no idea which episode, or even if it was big bang theory show, i don’t watch it)

It’s the old but “new” revamped and re-numerated WvW titles. Look further down your titles list, you also have Yakslapper, which if I remember right was kill 1 million yak caravans in WvW (rather hard that one was, and almost impossible to do inside 3 years)
It’s about time they turned them numbers down, and it worked in your favour. You have killed/destroyed enough WvW to gain quite a few of the “new” titles.

So sadly, no, it wasn’t your forum rudeness, that usually ends up with infractions and/or bans, not titles heheheh

May I ask, are you doing the same rotation of events?

(forgive the vague names, I don’t know what half the bosses are called off the top of my head)

For Example: Event chain restarts (20 mins after VineWrath is dead?)

Defend Red Keep and associated land based events around Red Keep, until it is time to:
Defeat Red Keep Mordrem Boss and then:
Head to lane 1, 2 or 3, top, middle or bottom (whatever name you give to the lane set is your own calling)
Defeat VineWrath, wait 20 mins while chest farming, rinse and repeat..

The game remembers way more than one or two events that you do, and if this is how you play (whether its red, blue or purple keep that you concentrate on) it WILL remember that you have only been doing that specific set of events and will flag you for diminishing returns.

Take for example, the old Queensdale boss train.
They added DR to this, so after you had done maybe 3 cycles of Spider, Boar, Troll, Bandit, Oakheart (or whatever order your server chose) it would see that even though you have done 5 events, you have done the same 5 events time after time, and thus, it hits you with DR. I’ve personally seen that one happen.

Mix it up some basically, because to me, it sounds like you are on the same event rotation for the majority of your Silverwastes session.

I’d say the best thing to do would be (for example) defend red for 10 mins, run a caravan, run to blue for 10 minutes, move to purple, kill purple Mordrem boss, do VW, then on the next round defend purple, run a purple caravan then defend blue, then run a red caravan, kill the blue Mordrem Boss this time..

Mix it up some basically, because to me, it looks like you are on the same event rotation for the majority of your (hour long?) waiting for VineWrath to spawn sessions.

No, it really is maintained by the community. The same community that is rather busy right now playing the new content that isn’t on wiki yet heheh

I’m not playing it myself, sadly (I think?) too much “outgoing is high” and “income is zero” going on in my life to be able to spare a few quid for it

I don’t edit wiki, not anymore. Not since one rather baked night when I changed a page regarding capturing 3 skills at once in one particular area. This was on the Guild Wars (the first) wiki, and it turned out I put some good old mis-information up, just because I couldn’t even think as far as what skills I already had on my character skill bar.

So yes, in all honesty, I can safely say the wikis’ are definately created by the community. (even made a few pages for Nightfall myself)
Bear in mind it does take time and people are probably editing, formatting and editing again right now! (and I thank them all for the hard work and dedication)

What PC Specs Are You Running GW2

Most of my spec is in my sig.
I run the grahics onboard still (i7 HD4600) as I still can’t afford that GTX (sad face)
I use low settings (low char armor limts etc) on my laptop (i7 4710HQ paired with Nvidia GTX850m @ 2GB) to help heat issues
The desktop is similar but has medium terrain etc, and also has medium character limit settings.
I am impressed with both, getting a minimum of 55~60 frames and up to 95 frames during normal pve map play. World bosses usually drop this by half, seeing 25~30 frame minimum (mostly 30~40 but the Maw mainly gives 20~25 ish).
With both I have never noticed any tearing.
As said above, you should still get good numbers from those items

When will condition damage be addressed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: rich.3901

rich.3901

The Mesmer for example, the most recent OP class, has huge amounts of access to confusion after the specializations patch. For the condition builds I’ve fought mesmers who apply 10+ stacks of confusion and 6+ Torment in a couple seconds and can do it again and again with nearly no downtime. Fights with a condition mesmer is almost an impossible fight even with a high amount of cleanse just because they have such large amounts of application in short amount of time and on short cooldowns.

Isn’t that what mesmers do? Confusion?
Elementalists burn, freeze, and blow wind up your ……, other classes shoot arrows, hit you with swords etc.
Seems to me that you are you asking for mesmers to be removed from the game? Maybe because you need that old chesnut “learn to play against them”

Just like Mr Aidenwolf Sir has said: adjust your playstyle.
Because people like me just love to throw 10 stacks of “confuse your face in” and then just stand there and watch you beat yourself to death while I sit at my keyboard laughing and laughing at your misfortune. I mean, seriously, how hard is it to see that triple rainbow shooting out of your head every time confusion ticks?

Sorry to appear to be so blunt but that is the way it is. Get your face smashed in, learn what happened and why, then alter how you play to try and shut that nasty little mesmer down. (which being a mesmer main for 3 years, i know it is possible to put me on my a..e with a few well timed spells of your own)

P.S. It’s about time mesmers WERE able to do this, so no, they don’t need anymore nerfs, thank you.

well, I just logged in, recieved my daily reward 15 laurel bag. I clicked past the daily list and proceeded to my inventory to open the laurel bag only to find it’s not in my inventory.

Thinking that this might be related to the guild bank bug (where items moved from guild bank and into inventory don’t show up straight away) I logged a different character, went back to the character that recieved the bag and still no laurel bag.
Totally logged out of the game (shutdown and restart) and I still havent got the bag in my inventory.

Remembering that changing maps usually brings back guild bank items I enter Queensdale, only to find the 15 laurel bag still hasnt appeared in my inventory.

need suggestion for a good gaming monitor

Posted by: rich.3901

rich.3901

I can’t add anything to the “which monitor is best” conversation but I’ll add something that has made me consider which monitor to buy when I upgrade my 19 inch square.

GPU-Monitor connection cables. DVI, DVI-I, DVI-D, VGA, DisplayPort, HDMI and so on.

Make sure that your (whichever you use) onboard graphics/graphics card and new monitor are compatible! VGA is so 1980’s nowdays it’s all DVI-I, DVI-D, DisplayPort, HDMI and so on. This being especially important if you run a multi-monitor setup, monitor for games and internet, TV for films in my case.

For example, my television is HDMI, my monitor is DVI-D or VGA. My old and new system are compatible with both, but my choice of new graphics card (GTX960) only has HMDI and DisplayPort, thus, I had to consider that I can only use the HDMI for my tv, and I had to look for a monitor with DisplayPort compatability.

Yes, there are adaptors, but some people just dont like them (me for example)

hm interesting, most sites I went on said you want as many fans to be going out, apart from ones far away from your motherboard/CPU. So if you don’t mind my asking, I have a Corsair h100i mounted to the top of my case, two fans below to push through and out the radiator, and two 200mm on top to pull.

Imagine the PC case just like an car engine. The engine sits in a “case” and is full of hot air. The fans on the car radiator pull cold air into this space cooling the radiator on the way, and allowing this fresh but warmer air to push the even hotter air out of the gaps (or out under the car in this case) otherwise the engine would be using the hot air created by the engine to cool itself down, which is counter productive to what you are asking the cooling system to do.
If I had gone for water cooling and not had the case that I have, I would have had the fans mounted on the inside of the radiator sucking cold air through the radiator and blowing it into the case. Now that sounds counterproductive does it not (kitten filter ftw) but if the rest of the fans are also sucking in cool air, it will get mixed and blown out as normal.

But saying all of that, my case, Bitfenix Outlaw in white, with 2 solid side panels (a factory F-up it should have side fans) has holes already in the back to pass the water pipes through and mount the radiator outside and away from the case, so I guess it could also come down to the kind of pc case you have.

snip

Wouldn’t you want most of your fans facing out though?

No, personally I wouldn’t, not this time around. The last time I had that set up I ended up with a pc full of dust, hair and fluff.
This time i’ve fitted dust filters over the inlet fans and allow only the PSU to extract, allowing the air pressure to push the rest of the “excess” air out.

I’ve just rebuilt my pc ~2 weeks ago (spec in signature) I’m already blown away by the performance and it’s not totally finished yet!

My old system (AMD AM2 5800 with 9500GT card) used to run at 20~40 frames in normal play and 1~4 frames during high population World Bosses. Load times could be as much kitten minutes for a high population Divinitys Reach (honestly, 5 minutes to load a map) and as much as 90 seconds just to load into an empty Queensdale) and all of this was with turned off or low graphics settings in game.

Now I’m seeing 60 to 95 fps during normal play (average around 70~80 for 90% of the time) World bosses go as low as 20~30 now. Div’ Reach now takes maybe 30 seconds if it’s full, and I can load Queensdale in as little as 6 seconds (waypointing around maps also takes a ~6 second load time)

And all this with the i7 onboard graphics (I know my sig says I already have the gtx960, didn’t want to have to change it when I can actually afford to buy it)
Obviously frame rates rely the in game settings, but with the 960 you should be able to have med/high settings and still see those kind of numbers, if not higher.

You may be able to allow the motherboard to control the OC (mine is set to auto/dynamic) so i’m not always running at 4.4GHz, but always inbetween 4~4.4 when playing.
Also you WILL need to throw the standard out of the box CPU cooler in the bin and invest in a decent cooler (which your spec list doesn’t show) My choice was Arctic Cooling i30 mainly because I’ve used and trusted AC for years now.
With this setup my average CPU temp is 30deg idle, 40~50deg gaming with a ~1 second load spike up to as much as 66deg (celcius) bearing in mind that I’m using the CPU graphics so my temps could actually be a little high compared to using a dedicated graphics card.

EDIT: CPU % usage; my old 2 core 2 thread system used up to 98% of its capable GHz, now I see between 23~30% with the 4 core 8 threads.

Fans, plenty of fans pulling fresh air in. I have four, 1CPU controlled, other three are self controlling arctic F12TC with the sensors stuffed behind the VRM/PCH heatsink (I believe) the more I game the hotter these get, the faster the fans suck, so right now while I sit here not gaming I can’t hear the fans, at all.

P.S. don’t be put off by the i5 is better than i7 argument people on here have, I personally think they are jealous that they only had i5 money (I’m joking but you know where I’m coming from)

GW 2: The 1st Year; Updated metrics, please?

As some of you may have seen when this page went live way back in 2013 https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-the-first-year/ It gave us an overview of certain things which had happened in game, since release.
Such metrics as “20 million player kills and counting, due to risen thralls” or the “41 million + player revivals” and other such interesting (to me at least) tit bits of information.

I’m wondering what these numbers are now?! I would love to see an updated version of the last picture on the page, personally I think now would be a good time given that it is close to the anniversary again.
I understand it might take a little time and granted, they have better things to do right now, but the real question is…..

how many players have the thralls killed now?
and how many got ressed?

Rich.

2 accounts, 1 pc and WinAuth.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Just logged into my 2nd acc to find the unmoveable “join SMS” or “remind me later”
I’m already using WinAuth for my main account and had no plans to upgrade to the authenticator on my 2nd account. (yes, call me stupid but that’s the way it is)
Now, to stop seeing this stinking “click remind me later” every stinking time I log onto my 2nd account I’m going to have to sign up for the authenticator on that account as well.

Now take note here, I DO NOT OWN A MOBILE PHONE (nor do I wish to) and also, I DO NOT WANT to give my house land line to anyone. Apparently anet won’t sell my number but we all know how that always ends don’t we (ANYONE CAN get hacked) so I’m not taking the chance.
(and don’t give the “using FaceBork or Spewgle” because I don’t use Spewgle Marketplace (obviously not having a mobile phone) and Facebork has never had my (old) mobile or landline number)

So, my only option is to use WinAuth for my 2nd acc as well.

The problem I am wondering about is this:

Will this corrupt the link between my main account and WinAuth
or:
will using WinAuth for a 2nd code cause no problems between the two alternate account codes I’ll have? you know the one if you use WinAuth, that massive WSDFER78FRG6JDDKFKG code (and no, that isn’t my code, obviously)

Anyone able to answer this?

Thanks for reading and for any advice if you can
