Here my top five QoL of life features i would like to see in guild halls.
1.)be a spiritual successor to gw1 guild halls and have vendors the guild can buy for the guild hall with influence. Crafting vendors, laurel vendor, banker,BLTC rep, armor repairer etc.
2.)should have guild activities. Maybe a set of activity asura gates they can opt to link to custom arenas,WvW and various mini games. Exclusive mini games would be nice but it they should at least link to the existing ones like keg brawl and crab toss.
3.) Incorporate GW2 features not in gw1. The guild halls should have places to swim.crafting stations and places to jump to and maybe even a jumping puzzle.
4.)should not be gated by guild commendations. requiring guild commendations for guild halls and guild hall vendors could be bad for small guilds
5.)I wouldnt be against guild commendations for extra things in relation to the guild missions. Like maybe guild halls already have a easy jumping puzzle but commendations can unlock a hard JP. or since theres a chicken guild rush commendations can buy a risen chicken for your guild hall.
No, no, I wasn’t specifically referring to Dry Top, I was trying to point out that people on these forums complain that there isn’t an X thing, when they get the X thing, they complain they want the Y thing or that it should be like this. The thing is that it’s hard to satisfy this wide spectrum of players. Similar to the new ’’boss’’ at the end of Dragon’s Reach Part 2 – some players say it’s too easy and it should be harder, some think it’s too hard (some are hardcore players, some casual, some are somewhere in between).
As for Dry Top and new zones in general, I believe (or maybe hope?) they’ll add new zones in future episodes. We’ll just have to wait and see. And yes, it’s mostly grinding for geodes, fossils, kites, recipes etc., but if I recall correctly, I saw a few threads about players not knowing what else to do, since they’ve got everything they wanted in the game. ANet created new recipes, backpack, kites, weapons and so on to aim for. I understand, though, that that might not be enough for all players and it might also not appeal to some. Tastes differ. I completely understand.
The problem, to me at least, seems to be that there isn’t a specific forum section dedicated only to Suggestions (on how to improve the game) where ANet would have a couple of devs who would check the threads regularly and maybe even comment on them as in if those suggestions are possible and how they could be implemented, and if not why they couldn’t be.
(At least I didn’t find such a thread. I’ve only seen some separate threads in miscellaneous forums.)I apologise for my English, I’m not a native speaker, so my thoughts might have not come out as I intended. :P
There used to be a suggestions forum but they got rid of it i think if you have a suggestion now you just supposed to post it in the relevant forum…like a pvp suggestion would go in the pvp forum.
Will there be any changes or new methods to acquire precursors in this feature pack because the prices are becoming ridiculous. Dusk is around 1500g and by the time , players farm enough gold, the prices would have risen even more and it will be an endless grind. RNG is also not a very friendly person.!
Was wondering whether this might be added in the Week 3 “trading and collection” section. I know the chances are very slim but still have a little hope
I think theres a good chance precursor acquistion will be improved with this feature pack because i know a lot of people want this to be improved.
I love that we got a new zone! but i hate how it requires jumping to proceed through the zone….i think jumping should be optional like it is with all the other zones. While a lot of people love the jumping aspect there a lot of people like me who hate it.
Same for living story episodes. Jumping should be optional like it was for personal story. I wouldnt object to the non-jumping method being longer and the jumping way be quicker….i just would like to see a way for non-jumpers to proceed and enjoy the game. I know arenanet want to makes a game that appeals to all types of players and im sure the playerbase of people who hate jumping or cant due to bad latency is enough to warrant a way for these players to proceed.
One of my major dislikes about the living word is how we often to have to wait around to enjoy the new content and it makes things less enjoyable. I think anet should have more content that can be started/triggered anytime.
I was interested in the queens gauntlet but never tried because i didnt want to have to wait in the que to experience it. I was interested in the nightmare tower but didnt want to have to wait for group of people to come by everytime i died, through thats more of an issue of not being soloable then making us wait. And the newest content looks fun but i dislike the idea of having to wait around for the bosses to spawn.
This update isnt terribly exciting but its only the first of the the last four living story season one updates. based on reports from anet and fansites,I have a feeling something BIG is coming in the final installment and that the next update will be better.
This is definately better then the first update we got last january for flame and frost.
We have heard those lines from ArenaNet with every single LS update. They have consistently failed to deliver on their word. Why should we expect the last three LS installments to be any better than the previous ones? Because Anet said so?
Im not just going by anets word,Its not just anet saying so but fansite who are in the know of whats coming and cant say anything. While im admittedly a bit skeptical,im also optistimitic they will truly deliver. I read an article and they exact words regarding the last four ls season one updates was “enough to excite even a bystander” . But judging solely by the first update…its definately better then last years first flame and frost update and excites me just enough to make me want to see whats next
Also i truly believe arenanet is good at learning from their mistakes…just not always good at the execution part. We dont know whats coming next and also it takes time for our feedback to bear fruit. It hasnt yet been 4 months since the living story cdi started/took place.

IMO – the biggest problem with Scarlett (and by extension the whole living story to date) is not her characterization or her storyline, but instead it’s the position she occupies.
Guild Wars 2 was sold on the story of the Elder Dragons. They loom large in the pre-release material and in the Personal Story. They are a huge threat that believably requires the assembling of legions of heroes to face.
Next to that, the machinations of any one mortal being just seems pale and lackluster. Moreover, focusing on those machinations for nearly a year seems like a side-show attraction when everyone is looking forward to the main event.
This is the main problem I have with Scarlett. She’s a distraction.
If the Living Story as written was tightened up and Scarlett split open after her first appearance to reveal she was a pawn / servant of Mordremoth, players may have been more accepting. Tie story to Elder Dragons and it seems like progress. Tie story to random mortal and it seems like distraction and I start asking “when are we getting back to the real plotline?”
I agree with this 100% i wanna see more on the elder dragons. Alternatively, following up on gw1 stuff would also be good. I do wanna see the crystal desert, cantha and elona again and see gw1 loose ends tied up. Scarlet just pales in comparison to this stuff.
What rewards would you like to see from rewards? Would they be different when you’re leveling up than when you’re level 80? What would motivate you to want to go around the world playing as many different events as possible, rather than the same 4-5 over and over again?
I neglected to formally answer to this question so i would like to give a detailed answer to this question before the topic closes. I would like to see….
- Player Housing/Guild Hall?Polymock Items(when these things are released hopefully)
- Minis- I think it would be nice to have a DE set of minis that can only be acquired through dynamic events
- Boosted Guild Influence- Why not allow guild leaders to select 3 maps that change daily/weekly and doing events gives more influence then normal?
- Home Instance Items- Personal resource nodes for the non event resources like mithril ore and orichulum ore might be good.
- Cool Looking Skins for armor and weapons
- Black Lion Chest Keys
Maybe it is out of the topic but I will post it anyway
here is what I think of new way to develop the character
the system is imagined around no levels- weapon skills become stronger the more you are using the respective weapon. they will be maxed out in power when you have reached that weapon’s mastery achievement.
- utility skills will have their own system of achievements similar to the weapon mastery
- as there is no levels for the character, there are no trait points either. instead, the “trait skills” I II III IV, etc will be all placed in a grid which will be unlocked with skill points earned by scrolls of knowledge or skill challenges. The trait skills can be powered up more using more skill points into them up to a max
- weapons will not have a level requirement but their basic stats will increase depending on what experience you have accumulated with that weapon type in the weapon mastery account achievement. Weapons may still have inscriptions on them for various auxiliary stats
- armors will get better defense through reinforcement. This will be done in the repair NPC using the skill points. The armors which you will equip will have their defense rate higher with an armory mastery achievement similar to weapon mastery.
- skill points once open will be account bound
- once a player has got all the weapon/armory mastery maxed out, all the alts he will create will benefit from this making the system very alt friendly
Using skill points to increase armor, skills and trait skills will give a very high importance for the skill points. To avoid exploits of this system – aka making new characters and get the starter zones skill points – I suggest the skill challenges are account bound too meaning once a skill point is aquired is unlocked for all account.
I think this is a bad idea…i think the level system is good and necessary. The problem lies in leveling up alts .. that should be more fun. What i liked about gw1 is there was multiple campaigns so i could raise one character to max playing prophecies and another playing NF. The personal story doesnt have enough unique paths because while the variety is nice early on …not much variety in the later levels for personal story.
After reading some of the latest posts, i think adding the gw2 version of polymock could really help the living world. You could add polymock pieces as Dynamic Event rewards and could have polymock skills people unlock with skill points. Also diferent areas/DES should drop different pieces like maybe the dragons can drop RARE polymock pieces of them as loot and maybe all the orr events drop polymock pieces of risen enemies.
one thing i think would help to improve the living world would be to add the tabled minigames you guys had planned on adding to the racial cities originally before launch. ASAP I want to be able to take a break from adventuring and have fun playing fun activities on the side in LA and the racial cities. I feel like you guys are leaving loose ends in the living world but not having released them, i especially want to see bar brawl and polymock. Theres even an achievment category for bar brawl.

Regarding GW1 lore in Living World and beyond, let’s just say we’re looking at all GW lore right now and picking out threads that we’d like to tie up. Ideas are welcome, as always.
I’ll post more tomorrow. Time to go home.
My top 3 gw lore loose ends i would like to see tied up in living world are…
1.What happened to evennia
2.What happened in elona during the gap..since gw didnt get elona beyond content.
3.How did gwen die?
I think the living story is a good idea but have found past releases lackluster and the slow going lackluster flame and frost story to start off with didnt help to give a good impression to the players. I feel the best LS update so far was clockwork chaos because you guys did a good job of getting me hyped by having scarlett graffiti the release page and the invasions and story was exciting and fun and i didnt find the achievements grindy at all. Now to give my feedback on various aspects starting with…
Achievements
You need to make sure getting the achievements not feel like a boring grind and allow players to skip achievments for things they dont like doing. I feel the way you are doing achiements now with dailies is a good way of accomplishing this…except you should make it possible to get the meta without the living world dailies and still have the daily ones and use those as a way for people to skip the achievements they dont like. I feel clockwork chaos did achievments the best so far. Even through there no daily LS achievments for that release,it didnt feel like a boring grind.
challenging and fun open world combat
You need to make the open world combat more challenging and fun like you have started to do with teq. Not just the world bosses but regular enemies and champions too. Combat is exciting in the dungeons but not so much in the open world. Also you need to make sure the open world combat isnt too challenging either. I felt you made teq a bit too challenging for players.
Major perm content
I want to see fresh and major perm content such as new maps/areas,new skills, new playable classes/races,new personal story. Also we could use more perm new dynamic events. The only ones we got so far are the skritt theif and scarlet invasions. What the recent new TA path and teq update are fine. But its only 1 boss and the TA path replaced an existing one which people dont like.
gw1 lore
I also want to see more gw1 lore. I would especially like to see the lore that didnt make into guild wars 1 beyond content that we going to see. Use gw2 to tell us what happened to evennia and other loose ends while filling in players who never played the first one on what they need to know.
(edited by riddleguy.9738)
What do you guys hope the tower of nightmares will bring? I personally hope it brings some soloable story instances. Those are my favorite part of the LS releases.
I agree 100% as well. I think all the story dungeon paths or at least arah should have soloable versions.
I think that there should be toggable map nodes on the regular map ….so people that like discovery can discover nodes while people that like the convenience can use them.
1. New Areas(i want to see cantha, elona and the rest of tyria!)
2.Minigames(specificaly bar brawl)
3.Player Housing
I thought clockwork chaos was a fantastic update! however the SAB,teq rising and twilight assault updates seem lackluster in comparison.
Im hoping the reason for the thinner content is that more resources are being allocated to something big like giving us the crystal desert or a new class or something.
The racial cities need some new perm content so players want to visit them regularly and not just when theres events/living story there. I remember players saying they wanted reasons to go there way back after the failed lost shores update and you got them there with temp content but we need perm content for the racial cities too.
a good way to accomplish this would be releasing minigame activities in all the racial cities so the minigames are more like there were supposed to be at launch before they got tabled.
Player housing would also be a good way. You could have each racial city and LA have different selections of player house items.
Also i would like to see each racial city have some unique permanent content to make players want to visit. For divinitys reach.you could simply utilize the crowns pavillion so its open outside of the jubilee.
wishing for things to happen and expecting certain things to happen will not necessarily translate into those things actually happening.
so what else should we do? create a kickstarter?
Continue to show arenanet that you guys want cantha…. if the demand is great enough arenanet may work to get to us as soon as humanly possible. However, I wouldnt expect it until the first expansion at earliest.
I think some of you guys have unreasonable expectations. I want to see Cantha return but i doubt it will happen in the near future. Thats something i expect to see happen in an expansion pack.
I have faith we will see cantha again….i just dont foresee it happening in the near future. Also we still have Elona and the rest of tyria to see. Also i wouldnt be surprised if we see someplace new first before we see elona and cantha.
I have to disagree. Anyone in either of my two guilds will tell you that I hate jumping in GW2 more than any person on the planet. That being said, I am having a blast with this new content. After you get past the initial “high” jump using the aspect skill for high jumping, getting to the top was very easy. Even for me and I suck at jumping more than anyone.
At first I thought the same as you because of my jumping hatred, but let’s be fair. Not all content is going to please all people. You have to have something for everyone at least once in a while. If this is the one catered to those who love jumping, then great! They need some love too. Next time it may be for people who love lore or something else. Who knows?
To me the Bazaar is beautiful to look at. It is interesting in content. It also reminds me so much of the things and places I loved in GW1 (Cantha, Elona, Embark Beach, racing games, etc.). I think it is all in how you accept the content. I am sorry you are not enjoying it.
I never said i wasnt enjoying the bazaar of the four winds content, i just think the meta achievement was poorly implemented. I find the new labyrinthe cliffs a interesting and exciting area and i love sanctum sprint and the quaggan show!
I just think its a bit poor judgement to have the meta achievement so geared as it is towards jumping puzzle lovers. Like half of the giant kites are in jumping puzzles and the sky crystals acheivement is a bit of a jumping puzzle in itself. It basically forces people who hate jumping to do jumping puzzles.
I think the bazaar of the four winds was poorly implemented…its too geared towards players who like jumping puzzles. I think past metas were much more reasonable.
I like how past metas were mainly geared towards the pve story content. For the shattered holo wings, i could get them by mostly doing the living story instances, the easy to get achievments and 1-2 grindy achievments.
I like that you guys are incorporating interesting combat in living story instance and dungeon releases….however the open world is lacking in interesting combat.
You guys seriously need to fix that…. i love gw2 and the recent living story updates but open world combat feels like “i swung my sword …look i swung it again….” or my eles case “i cast a spell, look i cast it again…” , exactly what you guys dont want the game to feel like. We need interesting combat outside of story instances and dungeons.
I think you should make influence costs on things scale based on the size of the guild. I think this would help a lot in solving the small guilds issue people are having with guild missions.
That way no matter what the size of the guild, guilds have to work to unlock things but it wont feel like a grind either.
I see nothing wrong with the new update….i just dont think arenanet explained it as well as they could have.
However, arenanet should have foreseen that other people would see a problem with this and would kill smaller guild activity a bit.
That being said, i have faith arenanet will rectify the problem a lot of people are having with guild missions somehow, most likely i think in the next content patch or the one after that.
yes, but riddle, their left hand said ‘its cool, any guild can do it, given some time or a bit of gold’ and then their right hand admits in a dark back room (so to speak) ‘well gees, actualy once you get into it, you have to have 30+ people to actualy get anywhere, so realy its just for the biggest people to zerg tactic it’
generaly speaking.
this is what a lot of players are angry about. on the one hand they told everyone that even the small guilds could do it all, and then the other hand admits that even if a small guild can start it, they can never finish it unless they ether recrute like a mother (which will not be possable. after all what can these little guilds possably offer to them to make them join? real world cash? their daughters virtue? lol) to stand a chance of finishingyes, as a little guild you can join in yeah so you get to do (some of the ) work and get a bone at the end of it. and watch as the big guild people get the shineys. thats realy realy fun now isnt it?
all the little guilds want, is to FEEL they are progressing, even if they never would reach the end. and not with Uber McMassive the borg collective guild of 400 players. but with UncleJoe’s little legue 10 man guild. because part of the premis of GW2 was that even the little guy had a place to play and have fun.
i doubt the validity of needing 30+ people to do guild missions….but even if that is true as you say. Your forgetting two MAJOR things:
1.Guild missions arent out yet so we really cant give it an honest judgement
2.Arenanet said we could join and help with other guilds guild missions, so for smaller guild they can probobly get them done with help from people who join in and help outside the guild i imagine if a guild is short on people.
while they said small guilds can do it…that doesnt nescesarily mean all small size guilds. Guild with 10 people or less might be too small while a guild of 25+ people is enough. Also guild activity is a factor.
I was a bit dissapointed by the requirements first but now im fine with it. I think we should wait and see after the patch. Maybe the upgrades we can earn though missions will also be new stuff we can get with influence without doing them and missions are just an alternate way to get those things.
These missions are reported to be not easy…More for the guild that has done that, been there, and got the t shirt too. Coordination will be required, i get the feeling that you will have to do something at the same time, but on different maps (like pull levers/ activate/commune) something that will take a few seconds to do so you have “same time” overlap and that one toon cannot wp to the next step.
It would have been nice if arenanet had communicated better. But their reasoning for making it art of war is perfectly reasonable and legit. they want art of war more viable for pve guilds. For those smaller guilds, members can enjoy missions kicked off by other guilds in the meantime, even if they arent a member. Also theres always the option of pooling money for influence for impatient people. At least they gave us enough of a notice that smaller guilds could have at least started towards AOW5 before the patch hits tommorows.
You want content that can be done by a guild of 5 people or less?
Please see the rest of PvE.
That is a very good point Vorch… the whole rest of the PvE. So what we should be suggesting in this thread is that larger guilds disband and fracture into smaller guilds… rather than suggesting small guilds disband to be absorbed by larger ones.
Or since there is no content for big guilds… they can just rep a small guild when they want to do small guild content.
After all… what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
This way the devs can concentrate on the same sorts of content they have already been producing… only make it more interesting and complex with greater depth… instead of scaling things up to create content that the typical in-game group cannot complete.
/satire
You don’t need to disband to join larger guilds…just represent during the guild missions.
However, that would kill the guild pride that the small group has, I guess.
There are plenty of solutions. What it appears small guilds want are solutions that:
- Do not require them to play with any other people/guild outside their group
- Do not require them to change their current playstyle
- Do not require them to use influence on anything they haven’t used influence on already
- Cause them not to be able to participate in content on DAY ONE.
That, I just don’t understand. That is, I know the reasons why small guilds are upset, but those reasons just don’t seem to be very upsetting.
People should be able to play the way they want to play and enjoy the game, hence why arenanet is releasing the choose your own dailies thing. People should be able to enjoy the guild missions in smaller guilds.
Its fine if we cant play the guild missions content on day one, but guilds shouldnt have to get their art of war up to level 5,especially when a good number of pve guilds havent invested in that tech tree cause it has been pvp oriented until now. I think the for guild bounties the art of war level requirement should be lowered. IMHO, I think art of war level 3 is probobly the best fit, through i would be happy even if they only lowered it to level 4.
Im reserving judgement until the patch releases. I think some of you guys are overreacting a wee bit….we don’t know what the requirements for the other types of guild missions are.
That being said, i hope some of the mission types are easier to unlock then guild bounties. I think it would be a bad idea if all guild missions required level 5 in a tech tree. Its fine if some mission types take a while to unlock but some should be easier to unlock. If at least one type isnt fairly easy to unlock(i.e require art of war level 3), then i will be very dissapointed.
Mods already confirmed the existence of one type. “Bounty” and that’s behind the AoW5 wall. No other forms are out at launch. They have to be unlocked after Bounty.. that is.. behind the AoW5 wall..
it was just said the first mission type bounty requires AoW5…i never saw any mods say anything about the other types having to be unlocked after bounty.
http://dragonseason.com/Front/tabid/124/EntryId/210/Lunch-with-Colin-Johanson-Part-I.aspx
Colin: It’s really spread out all over the game and it depends on which type of mission you’re doing. There are actually five completely different types of missions and based on which one it is – bounty hunts, for example, is the really basic one, that’s the one that you can get right off the bat when [February’s] release first goes out. You actually have to unlock all the other missions types, so it’s literally going to take months for your guild to build up enough influence to unlock all of them.
In that case, that is not cool arenanet. Level 5 art of war is not off the bat. A lot of PVE guild mine included dont have any influence invested in that line as people have been saying. I seriously think you should tweak the requirements a bit before launch. I think the level requirement for bounties should be lowered to level 3 or 2.
Im reserving judgement until the patch releases. I think some of you guys are overreacting a wee bit….we don’t know what the requirements for the other types of guild missions are.

Im loving the living story events! my thoughts were originally thinking it was Jormag and Primordus but joshua makes a good point with sons of svanir and flame legion.
Then you have people picking the 5 easiest dailies and the rest will be relegated to the trash bin.
“It’s too much trouble to slay 5 veterens, I’ll just go refine this ore I have collected for the easy Daily.”
“I don’t feel like dodging ever, I’ll just go revive 5 NPC’s at such n such spot”
Why would they instill a Daily into the rotation if the Devs didn’t want anybody to do it?
They coded and added it, we get to have it in our rotations. So long as anything that achieves your daily takes a reasonable amount of time (easy tasks would require more time involved, so 30 gathers as opposed to 5 veterans) I see no problem with allowing players to choose their activities. I think more than one activity should be done, but those activities should be your choice.
Why shouldn’t people be allowed to play the game the way they want? If they find it fun to do the easy stuff, what difference does it make to you? So long as it takes time to do, it is not a problem.
Arenanet wants us to play the game our way, so we really should be allowed to choose how we complete our daily achievements IMO.
Yes anet does wants us to play the game our way. they release the new achievement features that were ready this patch, unfortunately the choose which dailies thing isnt in this patch, hopefully we see it next patch.
In the meantime, doing the dailies is easily doable the way it is now as i said. For those who arent a big fan of daily crafter, just grin and bear it and craft stuff you can craft easily, like bolts of jute and stuff or choose to skip dailies on the days that have that one.
Now that they removed combo kills…there should be no more valid reason for complaint. Dailies shouldnt force you to ally with people. For those who arent a big fan of some of the new ones like daily crafter, arenanet will be making it so you can choose from a subset…hopefully we will see it next month.
In the meantime, the dailies are easily doable as is. For those who hate crafting, just refine materials.
For daily dodger, dodges are easier if your fighting multiple enemies at once.
For daily healer, can be done quickly by paying a visit to genderran fields north of nebo terrace.
I have 2 possible ideas for solving this problem…
1, Introducing free transfer tickets and each account gets one when they first start playing and existing players would get one too. The tickets would allow them to transfer once for free. That way people who couldnt transfer in time can transfer without paying gold/cash and new members get a safety net if they accidently choose the wrong home world.
2. Allowing players to write in to support to give players free transfers on a case by case basis.

I love the new achivements system!!! the only one i hate so far is the daily combo kill with allys. It would have been nice if they implemented the pick and choose feature but that feature is not ready.
For those complaining anet released an unfinished system…the way i see it, it’s releasing 2 finished features…variety for dailies and the laurel system. Im fine waiting a month to be able to pick and choose dailies. I see the new variety as a way to encourage me to improve my crafting skills so i can make more stuff, learn to dodge, learn to do combos and stuff.
I love the daily crafter and daily underwater kills additions! but im not a big fan of this daily combo kills with allies….i think arenanet should remove it from rotation until we are able skip one like anet talked about or modify it to make it easier.
We’ve heard this “rewards will improve” story before, when dungeon loot was supposedly improved. Running level 40 fractals with 55% magic find, I find maybe 3-5 rares on a full run and then there is the maw chest with a couple cores and (what seems to always be) a random piece of Medium (only type I don’t need) armor.
The fractals of the mists dungeons improvements haven’t been released yet….the article says its coming at the end of january,so that means it will be coming in this months content patch.
Anyways, im a bit dissapointed the scavenger hunt isnt in the upcoming updates but im still confident that what they will release will improve the core game A LOT.
It is not only GW1 players that find GW2 boring..i know that other do, However, a lot of people love and enjoy GW2. I along with most of my guildies in my main guild came from GW1 and we love GW2!
Im pleased with the speed that arenanet is releasing new content for the game….since october they have been releasing new content once a month. Im looking forward to finding out what they release next…through i hate being in the dark,im sure arenanet will be giving us details about whats to come next week or tommorow.
Honestly most of those things you are mentioning should be low priority.
First fix/balance classes. Right now necros and engineers have so many bugs its pathetic.
Revamp fractals/dungeons. Right now I find most players just doing fractals. There are some dungeons that I rarely see done
Revamp Dynamic Event rewards for level 80s. Give players more incentive to get out there into the world instead of just sitting in LA waiting for a WvW que or spamming for fractal groups.
Work on Lost Shores island. Hardly anyone goes there any more, i’d love to see more incentive for players to go back there and have fun.
Increase things to do in sPvP. Most hardcore pvpers that i knew have quit or just stopped playing sPvP and went to other parts of the game because they got bored or balance complaints. (a large guild v guild type of arena in sPvP would be nice)
I think after those things are done then we should worry about Mini games, Guild halls, and player housing.
Agreed, giving people reasons to go back to the racial cities and lower level areas and guesting should also be a high priority. However, that doesnt change the fact i really want to see guild halls, mini games and player housing. I expect/hope one of these 3 things will hopefully get added in the feb or march update.
I also want to see name change contracts! i forgot to mention those.
Here’s a list of things i want to see in the upcoming core game improvement updates:
-the mini-games that were originally supposed to be released at launch
-guesting
-guild halls or at least some new guild related things
-player housing
-new dynamic events
- new reasons for players to visit the racial cities
-the PVP custom arenas that were mentioned in october
As for my expections, i expect guesting and if not the mini games then guild halls or player housing to be released. I also expect the custom arenas to be released in one of the upcoming updates.
I’ve noticed that the amount of players on higher maps have decreased to the point that anywhere from 50%-90% of points on the maps are constantly contested making it impossible in many cases for a solo player to complete maps. It’s gotten to a point that you are lucky to find 2 players in a group.
Basically since the new content, most higher level players don’t even bother with regular maps anymore. Players are looking at it this way, why do maps with poor drops when you can do other things that net you better items.
Needless to say, higher level maps from 70-80 need to have new content and and better drops added to bring players back to them.
As it stands now, this game is going down hill since newer player that want to complete maps and other things can’t, due to the lack of players to aid in certain areas. It’s going to get to the point where people are just going to give up, and when (not if) that happens, this game will die.
I’m not saying this because I’m low level, on the contrary, I have 3 characters all at level 80 and I have 100% map completion. I just see this as a growing problem that needs to be addressed. I like the game, but I see the player base dropping in these areas everyday.
I strongly disagree that the game is going downhill…the game is just suffering from a bit of a pitfall. The lost shores stuff was very lackluster in comparasion to the halloween stuff and the ascended gear was poorly implemented. Chris said in the AMA they will fix this issue by making ascended gear available from other means.
Arenanet made a serious mistake that caused some people to quit/not play as much ….one i strongly believe they have learned from. In due time, the explorable areas should be back to normal population before the ascended gear was released. I also believe in time they will win some of the lost/less active players back.
The wintersday stuff looks promising…we at least know it should make the major race cities more active…..i know this is something players have expressed wanting.
Im pleased Arenanet is already showing they are going to deliver on stuff mentioned in the AMA….the new wintersday stuff will make players want to visit the other major cities. I know that giving players a reason to visit the other major cities is something players have wanted!
While many people are unhappy with the lost shores update and ascended gear. For now at least, I have faith in arenanet and believe that future updates will be better!
I personally think arenanet simply made a mistake….no person is perfect and neither is no company. I don’t see ascended gear going away but i believe they will make obtaining it easier and think very carefully before adding a new type of gear in the future.I see nothing wrong with adding a new type of gear as long as its done right. For ascended gear, i think they did a poor job of implementing it.
I also believe future events will be better. I think while the halloween event was great…the lost shores was lackluster in comparision.
Do any of you guys still have faith in arenanet and believe they make up for their mistake like i do?
I know people are annoyed with arenanet because of ascended gear and it seems like a gear grind to them.I have a question for you all… what can arenanet do to improve ascended gear without getting rid of it?
I think ascended gear should be as made almost or just as easy to get as exotic. And arenanet should promise not to release any more gear unless they can think of a meaningful way to implement it that wont make players feel like its a gear grind.
Im happy to see they havent forgotten about the players who care about guilds!!!!
FYI those saying they didnt address the ascended gear…it was addressed in a separate stickied topic in the news and announcements forums.
A lot of people seem to be upset about difficulty finding groups for higher fractal levels. I think a simple solution would be to make it so that people can play higher fractal levels without beating previous ones but at least one person in the group must have earned it So if the highest level earned by a player in the group is 10,then the group can do any level up to 10….even if all the other players are doing it for the first time.
