No more expansions pls!

Hi!

Go back to creating living world only, it was more fun than the expansion. I rly dont like grind games and the mastery system has turned into one. I cant even do raids because theyre boring and time consuming. I used to be one of the people who vouched for an expansion but after comparing the fun between the expansion & living world… living world beats the expansion by alot. The friends that came back for the expansion are gone already because it wasnt entertaining enough and after you butchered the whole core game theres basically zero fun things to do anymore in gw2. Like what was the point of adding an expansion when you butchered the core game like you did?

Also, the living world should be how it was in season 1 with real changing events of tyria and not the lame instanced stuff we got with season 2. OR just put season 1 on repeat over and over every year (except the LA events) that would be more fun than the stuff we get now. Im just sad about what this game has become…aka zero fun.

I dont like the mastery system at all. I liked the core game of gw2 alot, it had alot of variety to offer us players. With mastery system it became very small oriented and works in a way i dont like. Id prefer if the mastery system was based on experience OR mastery points…not both. It just becomes boring to me. A game which also focus on just mastery is also boring because “play the game how you want” is totally gone in the new expansion maps. Gw2 turned into masterygrind 2.

Besides that, ill always love the core game of gw2.

Sigh…another change i dont like. I feel the focus in the game is totally off. If the keys are so badly sold you have to adress the issue why. I can come up with one good reason why keys get sold so badly and this is the reason why i dont personally wanna buy them. Too much junk from the chests. The droprate on the goodies are too low. Why would anyone want to buy a key which will result in boring boosters and boring common minipets? Have you even looked at the droprate of these items from the chests? If a person gets a choice of buying an item which grants 100% that item or an item that has 0.0001% of granting the item you want, which item do you think people will choose to buy? The keys never had a chance on tp in its shape it has now…And you dont realise it…Instead we get these changes which WONT increase the buying of keys. Only the first weeks you will see an increase and when people see how low droprate it has of the goodies no one will buy them eventually. Its a shame it will affect the skins in game now tho. The prices will skyrocket on tp and personally, the upcoming skins need to be superspecial and superamazing for me to even consider buying from tp. Only superamzing skins up to this date, imo, would be the chaos skins. So you have alot of work to do now to make people buy the keys from tp, as in, you have to spend alot more hard work into creating superduper weapon skins.

Expansions are a staple of MMO’s and in most cases come with increase in character level increase in item level etc. This game is quite different in that you don’t have to grind off an extra 10 levels but in order to keep things fresh there are new specs people can use once they get the expansion. In many cases the elite specs are upgrades over the base profession but the reality is even if they perfectly balanced every elite with the base prof the player with the expansion will still have an advantage over you as they have more options available.

If your not willing to fork out 50 or so dollars for hundreds of hours of entertainment you mustn’t be really interested in the game in which case why does it matter to you how competitive you are in pvp?

I don’t want to spend hundreds of hours playing this game. You’re completely right though, if I were a die hard GW2 player, that played every day, and was grinding hard for a legendary, buying the expansion would be crucial.

However, I’m not a die hard fan, and when I do play, I like to have the same advantages in PvP as other players.

Why should I be at a disadvantage just because I don’t want to pay $50.

You shouldnt play mmos at all, go play single player games where development stops at the finished product. Gw is a mmo, and mmos have expansions. In all other mmos they add new levels, gears and more that make the new expansion owners superior in a much bigger way than gw2 expansion does. Dont play a mmo if you arent willing to buy expansions, then mmos arent for you. Gw2 is no different than other mmos in that aspect, learn to live with it, im a tiny bit tired of these types of complaints.

I don’t know if some people are trolling or simply lazy.
I started playing HoT and never bothered in grinding any masteries at all. I just went to the jungle to explore and find out a bit more of what the hell was happening to the jungle dragon and stuff… Ended up with a mastery level over 100 when I noticed.
Honestly speaking, if those people complaining about the grind, are focusing in playing for the sole purpose of maxing your masteries before, well actually playing the game, then of course you are getting bored. Don’t blame Anet for your simple minded way of playing that comes with a mechanic way of doing things, because that’s your problem.

Nope, the exp gained for casual players was way too low. Because this game…is aimed for casual players. Anet made their game for casual players. If you didnt know that already, well you should go watch their vids when they promoted their game. Colin even said a few months ago in a twitch interview that the mastery system had become a bit more grindy than intended. Everyone dont have the time to play 8 hours a day, people have jobs. If people wanted to play grindy games they wouldnt play guild wars 2, but more like games like old version of lineage 2 where exp gained took 0.02% to get per hour of grind. When i was a teen i didnt mind grindy games but as you get older, you want smth more casual, where you can login and play for 1 hour and still get rewarded for your time invested. That was Anets whole point with gw1 and gw2. No waiting for the fun, no grind in a old fashioned sense. With the mastery system it became a grind for casual players who had 1-2 hours to play per day. Living world 1 was great in that way because an event took max 1 hour and you got rewarded very nicely for your time invested.

Besides that, Anet removed the whole purpose with hot “play how you want to play the game”. As of now you can only grind hot masterys in hot zones, you cant lvl them in wvw, nor in core tyrian zones. Youre bound forever to play in hot zones, which entirely removes Anets memo to play the game how you want. In the core game, you could lvl in all possible ways to get to lvl 80. May it be wvw, doing hearts & events in the world or pvp. So you see a clear difference…And that is what makes the game boring sometimes, because you CANT play the game how you want if you want to lvl up your masterys.

I gave league a chance but after today im just done. Im a soloq or duoq most of the time and 80% of the time i have to face 4man-5man premades. The advantage teams have cant be ignored. They have better communication to mention one thing only which is an incredible advantage. Im srsly so dissapointed in the man who takes the final desicions in pvp. I dont understand how you think no soloq is ok and soloq being free wins to premades.

This game isnt a game for solo players anymore. Anet you might as well change the enter requirements in ranked to 5man because thats how redicilous pvp has become. GW1 was alot better because in heroes ascent you actually had to make a 8man before you entered, or random arena which worked like soloq. You rly had the best pvp in gw1. Gw2 is a frikkin joke in the pvp area. Get your kittenz together anet. I already stopped playing pvp earlier for like 6 months, i might as well quit alltogether. This game is just unplayable for soloq and the amount of teams you are FORCED to face is redicilous.

Omg, Anet! I dont know what youre thinking with…I question every move you take nowadays. So instead of having a variation of things to do, to aquire gold, you will force people to do raids only (insert curseword here). Im so glad you made buttugly new legendaries cause i aint getting any of it which means i dont have to farm gold in any shape or form. This game will die because of your stupid changes. Whoever decides these changes need to wake up and ask the community what they want not what you, anet, want. The trust in you Anet is so low and has been so low for almost a year now. I agree with, somewhere along the lines that all content should be rewarding whatever you do, and the rewards shouldnt be locked behind for example raids that not all players can succed at. I dont like raids at all, yet legendary armor items are locked behind them and theres no other way to get it. I miss the living world events because they were very casual and appriciated and respected your time so you werent forced to spend ages to get the item you wanted.

Either way, its too long wait. I mainly liked this game because of living world, particulary season 1 version with constant updates. Im not much of a pve person in general but i liked the living world and the current wait of living world is what will make this game even more casual where people take long months breaks because of no content. It will harm the game in the long run, because if people take too long breaks they might never come back.

Title says it all. Was way better before. Now i get teamed up with new players who dont know what pvp is. I have two accounts and on my other account i got teamed up with tier 1 people when im rank 15 on that account. Its so broken…Your system isnt working. I get lose streaks on my r80 account because my team sometimes cant kill anything or dont know how capping nodes work. So if im in a team i get maybe another which is r80 and the rest is like r5 and the opposite team is usually godlike who can ping pong you back and forth the whole map until you die. Sometimes im vs 2 people and i kill both alone while my team get rekt over and over. Getting teamed vs a full guild pre-made isnt fun either which happens so often. When your new system arrive it wont work as intended either because nothing you ever implement ever works. How is this fair to me, when i often can kill 2 players vs me, and still, my team cant cap 2 nodes while i have 2 people on me solo? Which eventually lead to lose streaks. Explain how this is fun to me? Explain how this will make me want to enter ranked? Even unranked has better players than ranked.

Ive tested your stupid system for the lolz the past 2 weeks. Entered with both guildies & duo & trio. Trio is the only thing that works so far because if i enter duo or solo i only get new pvp’ers that you anet think that i can carry…Obviously im a god…

Its exactly like season 1 when it comes to premades, in season 2 i barely got any sucky premades in my team or versus premades. Heck now i get premades 40% of my matches and theyre always like a mix of amber & emeralds & sapphire with 1 ruby which ofc is the villain why theyre all in my match. So great losing 155 to 500 versus a whole ruby team of 3man premade because Anet cant add soloq to this ferking game. Im so salty.

Hi Anet and my fellow community buddies!

I love you Anet, you know i do, but ive become 100% bored of pve now. I need new areas to explore, new races/professions to try out, new stories to follow! The living world story stuff stuff isnt enough for me im afraid. Right now i waste tons of my time to play pvp but i worry about the day ill get tired of that too. Since theres just one kind of pvp as of today, theres not much to choose from, like we had in guild wars 1.

Its been soon two years since the release and my imagination of things to do in the game starts to run out! I think many of us need something soon! Actually, it would be great if the expansions would come slowly through living world, instead of having to buy new expansions but i would totally understand if thats not an option. You have so much potential with Guild Wars 2 and i think its important that you follow the tradition with expansions to keep the playerbase and bring back old players.

Well thats all from me. Im hoping to see expansions in the future with new exciting things to do

I miss a time when we had fun events every two weeks. living story/world season 1 was the best ever. These story instances like season 2 are too small and the achievements we get with them serves no purpose. If we would get a living world like season 1 I would wait happily 2-3 months between the turns. But if its season 2 style, my hype will be gone in 1 second.

Hi!

Anet you have serious problems with your servers. Seconds of lag delay. Unplayable. Both in pve & pve. Disconnects from story as well. Anet, you have had serious issues with your servers since about november last year. Whats up? It doesnt get better…We cant play a game that lags this hard a few days every week

Im just about to assume we always will have this problem since its soon been half a year and no fix.

And no its not my connection, my friend who lives in Kuwait and i who live in scandinavia have the same issues.

Did you people miss the official explaination from Anet in one of the threads that was posted a few days ago? The mm explaination isnt on wiki bc we have a totally new mm for season 3 that Anet created for the league only. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/so-we-re-back-to-50-50-matches/first.

One team will always have an advantage over the other in the matchups. Both teams never have 50% chance to win, more like 60%-40% to win/lose.

something like that maybe.
otherwise, one team gonna have slightly higher overall MMR.

Season 1 would have been closer:
6 – 7
6 – 5
5 – 5
5 – 4

Your season 2 example is accurate, though could be closer in some circumstances.

Season 3 will be like a sorted version of season 1:
4 – 5
4 – 5
4 – 6
5 – 6
5 – 7

I belive that was an outlier, if the system can’t find a 5 vs 5 it will hop on a 6 vs 4. Based on my experience in game, I have yet to face a team where I was like kitten , the MM sucks. Every game I lost was due to afker, * no supp on my team* * Dc*, got outplayed, made a mistake, or matched with legendary wings chasers.

Nah i think it works exactly how Evan described it. In that way it could be possible to keep a close 50% winrate. If both teams had 50% to win every match, good players could have a really high winrate anyway. If you get 60% winchance you most of the time win bc the quality of the other teams skill is often really low with a few decent players in the teams. Everytime it goes well for me, win streaks, w.e, anet throws me into premades with low divisions in them. True story. The result is as expected, about 40% winrate in those matches when i get those scrubs.

Well what you are overshadowing is this :

League Matchmaking
Season 2 matchmaking was changed from Season 1 Ranked and Unranked matchmaking to help ensure league positions correlated more with skill instead of simply being based on the hours played. These changes saw a multitude of improvements for Season 2, but unfortunately they also spread out win rates further than we would have liked, as matches became a bit too uneven. We’ve created a new matchmaker for Season 3 that will strike a balance between the two previous seasons, accomplishing the same goals of accuracy from Season 2 but doing so with the evenness of matches that players experienced in Season 1

What Evans gave was an example, I believe it’s an outlier and you believe it’s not, that’s ok but it doesn’t change the fact that the system try to create “even essential of matches players experienced in S1” hence 5 vs 5.

In season 2 it made sure the higher mmr players would progress faster to legendary by teaming them together vs lower mmr players. Essentially the best season thus far measuring skill. Season 1 it mixed scrubs with pro players since divison was 50% of the mm and mmr 50% which lead to alot of scrubs got carried by the better players. Now in season 3 the mm tries to mix the higher mmr together so they have a slight advantage but not as in season 2 with such blowouts since its a smaller distance between the mmr teams. However, one team has ALWAYS an advantage over the other team as in slightly higher mmr.

And that’s not what this says:

And I won’t even argue about S2 ladder being the best one,when it was the most despised ladder ever by pro player and casual alike. Helseth quite caused of it.

Right now you just sound like you dont want to understand or simply…you dont understand xD Either way what i described is how it works. You always have about 60% to win or lose. Anet tweaked it in this way to not have such blowouts like in season 2. So now closer mmr groups fight vs eachother, but one team has always a slightly higher mmr than the other.

You explained nothing to me. I could write an essay on S1 and S2 matchmaking, and get an A ON IT. Here are the facts :

-I have studied the S1 and S2 matchmaker.
- I have more knowledge on both algo than YOU and that’s a fact.

If you knew how they both works, you wouldn’t have said that S2 was the best system; that’s what prompted me to end the conviction., since you are clueless about what you are saying.

I want expansion!!!!! For realz how many times can i repeat the same things over and over? I have world completion, i have r80 pvp and i played wvw daily for a whole year. Ive done fractals over 100 times, repeated dungeons million of times. We need expansion with new content and with new content i seriously mean new permanent stuff added to the game. Like in gw1, in every expansion they added new types of content. When factions came out we got new type of pvp, new maps, new professions….Now we get…storylines which isnt rly smth that can keep a player to stay. You basically do the story one time and then youre done. Anet please add some more valuable content pls cause i really love the game but i have zero reason to login at this time. <3

I had overall decent matches.. some was ez, in some i had to carry hard due to 2-3 incompetent people (lol venom thief..). Now being at sapphire t3 i started getting some kitten people that i cant even carry anymore (and im not sure why these guys wont uninstall either) amy games are closer to 500+ for enemy team and 70 points at best for mine. Fun

Thats interesting because according to some people (elitists) that never happens. Apparantly they say “if youre good enough” you can carry your team members however bad they are.

SoloQ @ Sunday anyone noticed the same?

I had a severe losing streak yesterday (saturday). I havent played pvp in ages on weekends for that very reason and for once i was gonna yoloq again on a saturday. Big mistake…

Havent had a losing streak like that in like…2 years, the players that was put in my team were pure pve’ers for sure.

No player has killed me yet when outmanning in a 2vs1. I have killed 2 players at once and that was because i was in a wrong mmr group and this was years ago. In season 2 that also was very common to happen because we had to face all different kinds of mmr groups and i didnt get competitive games until diamond that season.

What im saying is, if you can do that its either bc:
- You need to get up in a higher mmr group to get competitive games
- The player you killed need to go down in mmr group to get competitive games
- Balance class issues (like chrono in season 2).

Well im gonna sleep, have fun arguing with yourself.

When i saw the 1000 gems, i thought…wow a tad bit too much, but imma have it anyway! But i dont know if ill do it again at that price. It was like 219 g or smth like that (had 50ish gems saved already), to exchange to gems. I dont buy the whole “its a different look for all races” – thing, every skin you could buy before, looked more or less different on the races. Plus, if you want to use that as a selling tactic to why you choose to sell for 1000 gems bc it supposedly have “different” looks for every race, then you should sell all normal outfits for 200 gems and you could decide which race you want to buy it for.

Match Making Ratings are Frozen

No it didnt. A leaderboard should reflect all matches played in my oppinion and not just matches played from 1-2 seasons combined together. The leaderboard was ONLY based on the matches played from league and last season before that. They who played the most matches would automaticly have more points than people who wouldnt have so much time to play. To mention one example…a guy i know in the game, belong to top tier mmr where he gets matched with top players, yet his percentile from this league season & last season shows 66% because he didnt play many matches during those seasons. If he enters pvp he will still face high mmr players from esl. This is how the leaderboard is so far from accurate its not even funny…good they removed it.

However it would be nice to see our winrate…

That is not the leaderboard, that is the matchmaking system.

What im saying is, its not accurate for people who dont belong in top 1000 or higher percentile to have high spots on the leaderboards during seasons. If a person have high mmr but has 66% on the leaderboard thats highly inaccurate in general meanwhile a person who fights low mmr can still be put into the 95+ percentile on leaderboards because its based on points gained during season. So that means, you cant keep track of your friends on the leaderboard. They might belong to a higher mmr and have alot harder fights, or they belong to lower mmr and have easier fights and end of the day both have 95% on the current leaderboards because its all based on points gained aka wins/losses.

If you look at the leaderboards and it says you have 93% but you fight lower mmr, and then you have your friend who has to fight esl players and have alot harder matches than you who gained less points because of that during season and therefore belong to 90%. Based on the leaderboards that would mean you are a better player than your friend bc of the difference in percentile, while in reality thats not the case hence its not accurate the way its built right now.

champion titles just need like 150 won matches, thats nothing, ofc they suck. But the point is that they shouldnt be matched with people who have thousands of games played. Its a huge difference in gameplay.

Not motivated. Theres zero reason for me to play ranked as long as higher mmr gets teamed vs lower mmr. Its not logical whatssoever when you claim its supposed to be about skill. Then mmr decides for you 70% of the time if youre gonna win or lose, with some matches you can win if you tryhard. Anet has to decide if its gonna be a mmr game or a skill league based game. People with old high/medium/low mmr got that from old ranked and it makes zero sense that the mmr is saved in the new ranked when old ranked hasnt been active for soon a year. Players improve over time and higher vs low mmr doesnt help them progress or they have to carry hard and burn themselves out while theyre at it. Zero sense i say, dont know who came up with that.

Since we will have a slight content drought again until next living world season 3 episode it would be great for new and old players to experience living world season 1 again. It would give everyone something to do and everyone who missed out on season 1 could experience this awesome season as well. I know you had a replay of season 1 before and we loved it. Queen’s Jubilee and Bazaar of the Four Winds being my favourite episode id love to see them again!

Ty anet for having such a broken game. Im so glad wasting 15 mins of my life. I won a match, got 1500 reward + reward from chests oh but here the twist comes. It says i deserted the game when i didnt, so i didnt get +1 pip in the division and a dishonor. Ty so much anet, rly rly ty so much for wasting my time.

Texbi we also know you teamed your way up to legendary in season 1. Many of us actually soloq and have an entire different situation. I could have 99% win ratio if i teamed up also.

I soloq ed to legend with a decent winratio + while playing every possible class. Stop making up excuses….texbi is right.

I soloq my way to diamond last season and quit playing 3 weeks before season 1 ended. I had a nice win ratio too. Whats your point? My point is that i fought vs texbi many times and he abused the system + teamed up most of his way up.

My confessions here we go! Not trying to offend anyone, take it as it is!

- I hate when people make their male characters short. It just looks wrong and stupid.

- I hate when people write japanese words like senpai and crap like that in all chat and think theyre funny when theyre just tiredsome.

- I hate when people still use “gotta catch them all” pocemon crap, still after 2 years AT EVERY WORLD BOSS. Just please, stop it.

Thats basically about the community.

- If pres on world bosses dont get finished fast i get bored and leave and i miss out on gold (wish pre-events would be removed from the game).

- I like to see people fall in jumping puzzles.

- I prefer to not res people, it always end me up getting killed.

- I get annoyed if i see someone standing on my special afk spot in Divinity reach Q.Q

- I love to troll people more than i like to admit.

- GW2 is a mmo, but i prefer to play solo.

I can tell why anet had to nerf the whole skill system a while back due to playerbase having low iq, based on the op of this thread.

First of all theres no need for players who are on a win streak to complain. They get put with high mmr players who fight low mmr players. Since Anet also expanded the range in the ladder who you can get teamed up with, tons of averages have been carried by this new system. Remember a few weeks ago when they expanded the ladder range in matchups? That means players gets teamed with with alot better or alot worse players than they should.

Just moments ago i teamed up with my friend which is in ruby and i faced a reaper necro which is supposed to be in ruby division, on my trap guardian. Necros basically are the counter to guardians with all that condie. Guess what, i rekt him, those kinds of players are what you will face in ruby. So amazing this new system…So many bads are where they arent supposed to be due to the system carry them.

The problem with this system is that its based on win/losses and not individual skill. Since pvp in this game is mainly based on teamplay, a random soloq can easily lose vs an organised average team. Many bads & averages also get carried by teaming up because teams →soloq aka communication → no communication.

Also matchmaking is basically like this:
Team A mmr
10, 8, 7, 6, 5
Team B
7, 7, 6, 5, 3

They with higher mmr will always be teamed together but the mmr system cant calculate how individual people have gotten their mmr. Alot of people with decent win rates are the ones who have always teamed up with other players but lack individual skill. That one necro is a good example i faced earlier who had zero skill. Hes supposed to be the counter of my class yet he sucked bananas and is in ruby division.

In this 3 second meta its impossible to carry other players unless you can kill 1vs2 and thats not likely due to this clusterferk damage that the game is influenced by now. But if OP feels better by believing that this system is an indicator of skill, be my guest.

Possibly from halloween event in gw1. Ive been trying to find the song like crazy the past hour with no luck (in the actual gw1 game). Still looking…

Well, go pve for once! Alot of pve’rs went to pvp just for the backpack and wasted their sweat and tears even tho pvp is totally not their thang. Go farm in ze pve zones! Gl! ;D

This has been discussed plenty of times. Guild wars 1 had split skill balances between pvp and pve and it worked quite good. I dont understand what makes it so difficult to have the same split in gw2. Either way, it doesnt work well to balance the game as a whole because it affects different game modes badly and like earlier people said, we will never get a truly balanced game.

Incredible lag in pvp maps! I was doing my daily like always and when i was trying to defend a cap, all a sudden i get seconds of delay on skills the entire match and instadeath because of this. Ever since i get these random delay on skills in pvp. Its unplayable.

and what if that car company said, oh that new headlight we hoped to build will actually cost 50k more, and for that 50k we could give you the things that you are NOW asking for, a new eco friendly engine, etc etc. This is what opportunity cost is., this is what good development is. Bad development is saying – we promised you a heradlight – here it is, but unfortunately you cant get that new engine, we made you that headlight you really wanted 3 years ago! If you go buy a bigmac & company which includes frites and a hamburger for the price of 6 euro. You wait and they just give you frites and say “well we give you only frites because we decided we will deliver better tasting ketchup than we have now”. You still have to pay 6 euro for the frites only without getting the hamburger you already paid for only bc macdonals would think their new ketchup is worth it, the ketchup that already was in the pricepool for your menu before without an extra price. You cant ask for your money back because the time ran out for asking your money back.

We paid for living world already and content in gw2. Legendaries were included in the selling point for HoT. Thats why people are upset because they didnt get what they paid for. Simple. VERY EASY to understand and i rly dont understand why YOU dont.

“The reality of league divisions” is SO wrong. The fact that people face their own mmr in the leagues makes it harder or easier for different mmr groups to raise their division. Only people that matter rly to look at where they stand is top tier aka high mmr players. In every mmr besides top tier, is a joke where they can get to ruby without an effort. If i actually continued with this league kittenz id be in ruby with just enough grind >.>

Thats why not many of us can take this thing serious. If the leagues had started with mmr reset people would actually take it seriously + if soloq was implemented.
