Makeovers: Why no new Norn tattoos?

I’d love to see updates for all races, too: faces, hair, body types (!). Also, being able to apply scars etc. across the board would be a nice new feature.

Suggestion: Racial Changes

If there’s money in it it’s doable.

The time and resources it would take to make it possible for your character to change race is enormous. You have no idea how much code would have to be reworked and added to make this work. You would have to create a whole new backstory for the character in restrospect once you change the race, which would affect dozens of database tables.

The money they would earn from it could never make up for the cost of resources this would require.

P.S. I’d rather see those resources put into more personalized content, more “personal story” so to speak, than into this. Besides, creating a new character isn’t that difficult, plus the money they make out of sold character slots is worth more than they would make from your idea. Also, furtunately, achievements are account-bound too, so a new char won’t ruin your overall game progress, either.

They’re not in the presents. They come with the 5th birthday achievement, so only 2 per year. (I picked shield and scepter.)

2 per account not per character or per year.

You get to pick two with the one time achievement:

Race should matter! A short rant.

You have yet failed to explain how a change of racial skills would improve story telling.

You are hung up on that strawman of yours… NO ONE has made any such claim that changing racial skills would improve story telling. The suggestions to improve racial skills and to improve story telling by making your race, background, class, etc… matter are TWO ENTIRELY SEPARATE CONCEPTS.

1) Improving racial skills and making a racial skill slot makes your choice of race feel more impactful and meaningful in general content as you can actually make use of your racial skills without sacrificing build performance.

2) Improving story telling by making your race, background, class, etc… have meaning in the story again (how it was in the early part of the vanilla story)… would have a profound impact on the quality of the story. Our “personal story” would actually be personal again.

Two related but separate ideas. There is ZERO need to “explain how a change of racial skills would improve story telling,” because that was NEVER a part of the suggestion to begin with. You called it out as a strawman when you brought it up in the first place, but the truth is, you created the strawman with that very same breath.

Thank you, Panda, you spared me the typing.

On the one hand I think that a greater personalization of the story could be fun.

On the other hand I am firmly of the belief that the increased costs of essentially writing multiple variations of the story, at least one per race (and why not per class or temperment?) would lead to a massive reduction of storytelling in the game.

You are confusing “content” with “story-telling”. I’d gladly have “less content” if it meant that the content I got had more diversity and was replayable without causing boredom.

more customization!

Male Norn look absolutely repulsive IMO. Why female Norn look like beautiful Humans (only bigger and with nicer body shapes, especially their shoulder length and leg position), while male Norn look like shapeless meatballs with tiny heads and ridiculous feet (ten times their head size), is beyond me. It is nearly impossible to find decent armor for a male Norn to make them look like stout warriors instead of ugly bulks.

Anyway, back on-topic: I would love to see some decent short haircuts for men and more (cool) beards. So far, the only decent male short haircuts are boring ones, while the ones with interesting elements (like shaved parts) all look ugly as hell. Also, there are no decent shaved full beards etc. Stop adding ridiculous new hair and eye colors and do something about the lack of (facial) hair variety.

Opening chests, choosing stats > soulbound

The whole soul-binding process on exotics is completely illogical, because it is inconsistent. For instance, you need to get the guild weapon you want to form into a tenebrous/shimmering weapon with the character who knows the respective craft, because it is soul-bound on acquire (wth?). Applying runes/sigils also soul-binds your item, which IMO is illogical, too.

If they could make it so that items only soul-bind upon equipping them, for all exotics, that would really be a nice QoL update.

I really like it as it is. I don’t understand why other people don’t.

Are you being sarcastic? Because if you are not, I seriously question your taste.

I hate to break it to you, but that candelabra can in no way be looked upon as a “weapon”. It is piece of room decoration, not a weapon. Sure, there are other designs that can’t be considered weapons and are merely created to be funny (like the Improvised Weapon set), but those aren’t legendaries!

IMO, there are way too many legendary weapon designs that are meant to be funny (disco balls, meteorological equipment, aquariums, ships, etc.), and those are not skins to wear with serious pride but in (good) fun. You have to be a somewhat “easily amused” type of character to actually consider those worthy of the legendary status (and worth your time, effort and resources as well).

In the future, if we release further Guild Wars 2 expansions, we plan to offer all of the prior expansions, the core game, and the latest expansion for one single purchase price.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/pre-purchase-community-address/

Nothing at all about previous content moving to Play4Free.

Exactly. It’s already in effect with HoT: You get it for free if you buy the game.

You can’t participate in the meta events without many of the masteries, you can’t even get everywhere without gliding, updrafts, mushrooms, and toxicity resistance.

Well, you need toxicity resistance in most of the game, really.

OMG, LOL! I am so sorry. English isn’t my first language. Of course, what I meant was “poison resistance”. How embarassing… Although it’s true: as of late, toxicity resistance has become a real pre-requisite for playing the game.

Keep in mind that the password you use to log into GW2 is now the same for GW1. Once you linked the accounts, they were synchronized to match, even if you used to have a different password for GW1.
