this is too good to be true. i bet after this buff they will nerf. players aren’t used to Necro/Reaper doing high dmg, and when they see high number they will start complaining. i guarantee that. but i was hoping for something more on chill buffs. elite specialization of Revenant have a utility skill that pulses chill 2 times and has 3s chill duration and 15s cd. seriously? what we ask for Necro/Reaper they give it to Revenant?
that dmg nerf on Suffer made me cry. 700 dmg on pvp build. hahahaha
That is my fear as well, which is why I propose we hand out paper bags to all necro players next BWE. To help them deal with the sense of panic they will get from seeing actual big numbers. We will also have a line of Common Sense shrinks ready to slap our faces when we start mumbling self deprecating stuff.
-~Breathes in bag~“We are not supposed to be as good as thieves! What shall we do if we are no longer underdogs? We shouldn’t do big damage!”
- ~Slap~
-“Woah, what was I saying?”Heh, if only it were that simple…
That was the same mentality when one of my favorite characters in smite got a simple, but Very effective change that put him from bottom tier to top tier. He turned into a solo lane bully able to heal and burst down all the other squishy Mage types. People were so confused and didn’t know how to react to his newfound power, even when they gave him a slight nerf he still proved to be a huge bully, and would just starve the enemy so they were in effective in late game.
And I posted this because….well what you said always happens whenever a bottom tier class suddenly becomes viable and powerful, a general outcry from enemies who hate that their easy score has just become a threat, and a worried panic by people who main and play the class, and offer shave nerfs so they don’t get put back in the ground.
Still, I don’t think these buffs will be too much. And we still need help in other areas, BUT I’m so glad they’re listening, giving previews/showing the improvements on the table, and we also simply won’t get everything we want because…well let’s face it if we had mobility, stability, even mid tier damage, and the health pool and tanking capabilities we have already, we’d be incredibly overpowered.
Don’t worry, they’ll get to it in a couple of years, after they get done with the various nerfs and PvP amulet removals. I mean bug fixes aren’t that high a priority.
Can’t wait to play again. Calling it now gravedigger is gonna be op. We asked for the insta recharge when hitting a low or downed player. The dmg increase is gonna be fun!!!!
Probably won’t be op but hopefully will no warrant using the greats word. I’m just so happy they added more LF generation on it, as well as damage and changing the poison on Reaper’s Grasp to 4 seconds of chill. I’m also glad it seems like they’re being more leaniant with our chill application and addressing our issues with shouts and the like. I’m really really excited for scepter and axe changes though. At this point it seems they’re finally listening to us and starting to lessen the restrictions placed on us for so long.
kitten it, Legendary Demon Stance was what had me hooked to the revenant in the first place! Now it’s nothing more than a crappy necromancer replacement, and while I understand why you got rid of the displacement skills, I don’t agree with it at all….rest of the changes I don’t really care about, but they seem solid.
Also the removal of defiance bars I think was a good call, just created more clutter and confusion, and reduced the need of boon stripping, and it sounds like they’re getting removed from all specs by your post.
Overall, really upset about Mallyx’s unique aspect being gutted. Ah well, least I still got my necro…oh god i hope they don’t screw us over.
How about instead of nerfing Engineers, you make the pistol/shield viable, and stop forcing us to rely on kits. I despise kits, and I hate using them. I do, however, like turrets, and the pistol and shield, none of which are viable.
Unfortunately your entire profession is balanced around kits and your toolbelt, in fact I’d say kits are more of what they balance around for engineer.
For me it’s a matter of tankiness and how easy to get back my Shroud is after coming out. Didn’t do much PvP but VP was my go to in WvW except when I made a glass Shroud thief hunter build that utilized the spectral trait. Same with PvE. Every kitten percentage point counts because we don’t have defensive tools to deal with things like other classes have (blocks, invul, etc.). Blind is useless in the PvE setting since all bosses are immune to it.
Then i look at the loss of plagueform and the change to epidemic and necro doesn’t even feel like a shadow of its former self anymore.
Here’s the issue with the Axe autoattack: there’s very little counterplay to it, less so now that the range has been increased. This means the damage can’t be too high or it becomes incredibly obnoxious. Without having done extensive testing, I’d estimate 10% is probably on the high end of balance-able. If Anet wants to improve the Axe further (and I suspect they probably should), they’ll need to give it something other than just additional damage.
Mesmer greatsword autoattack would like to have a word with you.
Great sword auto attack range is virtually point blank though.
Mesmer GS aa is 1200 range and scales by the further they are the more damage it deals.
They really need to make it so that bosses have the ability to transfer conditions back to the players with certain attacks. -_- Would solve a lot from the recent patch.
Yeah I’m using this thing in PvE and it’s just borked to beat hell, if it’s more than 1 enemy the projectiles go flying in all directions and this I loose all the supposed damage buffs. On another note, unrelenting assault seems to hit harder in the shorter timeframe but getting to the point….
Wtf are they thinking saying “sword should be for singling out targets.” When precision strike and unrelenting assault, EVEN THE AA all go against this concept, but they’re trying to shoehorn it in. The sword does anything but help to single out targets!
Please no, I do actually LIKE the precursor crafting system, it was fun and gave each legendary an investment other than just money. The ONLY thing I despise and find absolutely repulsive is just how much Timegated ascended material it takes to complete tier two. I don’t want a legendary fro free, but rather, I want to work on it at my own pace and my own time, not the pace ANET has set, which for dusk was 90 days minimum, unless I shelled out a ton of gold and at which point, I might as well had bought dusk off the TP.
Wonderful new blood banks for my reaper! :P
Try Honor of the Waves, I can solo path 2 easily on my necormancer on that, and against bosses that use multihit attacks that are small but wrack up big damage, our weakness output is a savior.
But yeah, our biggest problem is really we don’t bring much of anything unique for the group, which in fine with but in exchange we need to be more self sufficient. Like a good example is engineer, they aren’t meta, but they can stack might and stealth and bring a fair amount of CC to burst bosses out of their bigger attacks.
If our Life Siphons operated on a percentage basis instead of just measilly numbers, that’d also help a bunch. Hopefully we’ll see more love in HoT though considering this content is now 3 years old anyways.
Reduce amount of condition damage and increase tough vitality and healing, enough to make these builds less bursty and more attrition oriented
Which Condi builds are you referring to?
