[Rev improvement] Legendary Aspect

in Revenant

1. healing skills most definitely.

It’ll give you better shot at burst healing, but at expense of burning both heals and being that much longer without any healing skill at all.

Also yes for elites. With legendary aspects it is possible to attempt double cast of same elite (cast it with an aspect, swap legend -> 50 energy restored, cast original), or reverse of that.

With that in mind, three of them still get an easy pass:
Glint has very long cooldown. No way to abuse it.
Mallyx’s isn’t that strong, and it’s traits have their own internal cooldown to prevent abuse.
Ventari’s is a heal, and also has a proper energy cost. Also you’re allowed to spam it in his stance and no harm happens because of it.

The two top offenders are Jade Winds (especially) and Rite of the Great Dwarf.
Jade Winds however have an internal cooldown of 5s (with 3s stun duration). Maybe it should be upped a bit for spvp, since alacrity could push it dangerously close to 3s.

As for Right of the Great Dwarf – well this one is hardest to balance because it’s balancing mechanic is in the energy cost and stacking. It’s does not stack at all, so casting it prematurely after first cast is just a waste of time and (literally) energy.
But then again recently the lowered it’s cost in spvp to 40, and if you wait 5s for next cast you’ll recharge 25…i think A-net wants us to use it more then once in succession. Maybe it would make the lackluster Jalis more saught after?

I feel Rite is the hardest elite to balance but also that it’s A-net that should decide if they want it balanced at all, or want more rock & roll dwarven action.

2. Yeah, no reason not to.

The “on heal” and “on elite” runes already have their own balancing mechanic in form of internal cooldown. Also it would be nice to see that icd actually used to it’s best ability without being forced to a specific main legend (equip ventari’s healing skill as aspect and stop worrying about your Jalis heal activating the rune of herald only once every 30s)

3. about tablet moving when using ventari’s aspect skill.
One skill that worries me is the condi cleanse one – it’s instant and does not persist. Meaning you’d be casting it first, then watch as your already “used” tablet travels to where it’s needed.

I think it would be wise to have this skill activate once the tablet has arrived at it’s destination.

Rest of Ventari kit should work same as in his stance – skill starts charging/activates the second you give out the command , while tablet starts it’s travel to destination spot.

About traits, you’re right totally forgot part that you don’t equip them all. It should be available to all legends by default, just though of traits as the “not too early” mechanic, but it would indeed hinder build diversity.

As for rest of balancing, rev already has build-in tools for it – cooldowns and energy costs. What sounds op on paper quicky falls flat on it’s face once the energy bar sends a reminder about not stretching forever.

If all of this is too complex, one can always put initial cooldown on aspect itself – for example – make it available 2-3s after legend swap, or have it carry 50% extra costs if used within this time. I’ll let a-net get creative here.

You take me for someone far more altruistic then i am.
I simply want zerks to earn their “meta” status facing some real survival issues since they willingly discarded their defense for damage. If they can back it up with skilled play – glory to them. But no covering their rears with powerful heals that they didn’t invest a single stat point into.

So given i want to make live on zerks harder…yes. I want to punish everyone else (in this game and current broken balance at least) (evil laugh)

Massively Exploring Role Playing Game – i love the exploring, jumping puzzles ninja events i didn’t see last time while passing by certain area, and the lush beutiful scenery – jungle areas rock!. And the tiny details – bird over rata sum, some bird landing on a rock when i’m doing jumpquest, tiny golem running around metrica province first town delivering all kinds of snarly, sarcastic messages from one asura scientist to another…i simply love this world. And asuras! I seriously pity any game trying to compete in “small short and cute race” departament with asura!

Sure GW2 is not perfect and many have their beefs with it, but hey, i for one love it, and if ppl are so complaining about various things, let’s post here the things that are done just RIGHT, and we’re both thankful and want them to stay that way!

Forget logic or order, this is thread to post things you liked, be it big as whole world, or small as a scale on your armor reflecting light;) What made you happy, post here;)

For me some of the many thing would be:

- Cannon in charr camp raided by ogres – BOOM!
- Crazy quests like that in asurian school where teacher has a “small” problem with his students;)
- even mild subpar intellects of scritt-brained humans don’t fail to understand the awesomeness of asura, their jungle maps and their world events. Clearly asura gates were builds only so you can ascend to the level of asura one day;)
- Skritt! We love scritt! Yes! yes!
- world events with follow events depending how you do! Oh yeah!
- that world event npcs don’t just yap about hunting that monster, they accually go with you (showing you the way) and hunt it with you! After the job they accually walk back to their spot rather then going puff in magical fairy powder leaving you alone. Love it!
- how my armor on warrior looks in high detail. Like every scale on scale armor is visible! love that detail!
- that i can go anyplace i like and get exp and loot for my level regardless if it’s my level zone or lower!
- exploration!
- and that even my warrior can heal others (though ofc guardian has so much more options)
- the personal story panel where i can read my story. When i read first line that said “I’m Really Evil.” it just made my day and made me keep my warrior (Really Evil)!
- that all classes can ress and there are skills to aid with that for each profession. I like ressing a lot!
- those trait panels – love their artwork. Especially guardian one!
- maguuma jungle! it’s awesome!
- dual pistols on thief – BANG! BANG! BANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANG!
- them jumpquest…outta those i found;p
- ebonhawk vanguard featuring lotsa longhaired female archers;)
- scorpion wire for thief. GET OVER HERE!
- making every monster ingame an involuntary blood donor with my warrior:>
- apple jokes with order of whispers (least in first mission, which takes place…well who knows that knows that;)
- vigil keep and gear. kittenery in a can
- norn theme.
- reasons some asura labs are faaar away from rata sum (only 33% risk of generating toxic poison cloud in the process;)
- and obviously no pay to win cashshop nor subs for all that

…and those shiny scales on my human scale armor that look so well in high settings in the sun;)

There’s lot more, but i wanna explore game more and i got only so much time to post this list;p
Follow up if you like;)

I got beef with it’s aura that cannot be turned off. I don’t like pink, i don’t want planets orbiting my head, i just want it’s practical aspect – stat switching on the fly. But seems that’s a no go, and it really discourages me from attempting to make it.

I would consider making one if i had option to shut it’s visuals off, for that there are legendary weapons and armors …and backpacks.

Game Updates: Traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ZeftheWicked.3076

I know i’m late, loong late, but i can’t get over the traits changes. At least them starting from level 30 and being obtainable every 6 levels. Why on earth did ya do this arena.net?

The point “to steamline it, so people don’t get stuck with 4 points into one line and 1 into another, later realising their mistake” falls dead on it’s face with that trait reset button we got now.

Traits starting from level 11 was great, i had something to work with, a long term goal starting early and lasting till the end of the game. Every level i got a trait point to boost my character’s stats and feel extra rewarded. At lvl 30 when first dungeon unlocks i already could enjoy the benefit of 20 traits points giving me stat boost and two adept tier traits available to me for some little extra customization and edge in there.

Now it feels like i’m getting starved till level 30 and from there every 6 levels matter, rest is “a drag through” phase….such a buzzkill.

Flying endurance is not fun.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ZeftheWicked.3076

ZeftheWicked.3076

Actually i believe endurance bar will be huge fun. Remember the reason why we love combat in GW2. Because it’s limited. The first anwer ofc is because it’s action packed and flexible, but those two are the result of limits. The limited amount of skills we can put on our skillbar forces us to make builds and think which skills to choose. The limited amount of healing forces us to think on our feet and use every defense possible before resorting to using that precious heal.

Same for flying. I can imagine gliding being like a racing mini-game – getting to the spot before your endurance bar goes down to zero will enforce planning your path and doing your best to stay on optimal, least wasteful trajectory to the target. It’ll be challenging, and i like that idea.

And what about those people who like the Class but not the pet aspect of it ? Should your opinion trump theirs ? What I was suggesting was basically having the option to stow the pet permenantly if YOU choose to do so. The pet would be more powerful if you traited for the pet to be powerful, just as the Guardians Virtues are more powerfull if you choose to trait them that way, same can be said for every other class in the game.

Its a suggestion I through out there and I am more then entitled to suggest it. This is suppose to be a thread about our suggestions on how to fix or elevate the class, as stated it is not here for you to shut down other peoples suggestions because its not what you want.

You have the right to make a suggestion, why not try that instead of attacking other suggestions. There are plenty of suggestions here that I completely dissagree with but its not my place to tell those people or the Devs that they are wrong.

I just did make suggestion – improve pet rather then sweep it under the rag. In life there are people with opposite opinions for whom your own is a disaster made real, And they can vote too. I just did.

ZeftheWicked.3076

I will repeat what i generally said in quoted topic:

To be clear – i hate mesmers, i main a necro and don’t play a mesmer in pvp. But taking time off their block? The block has counterplay. That has got to be one of the few actually healthy defense mechanics for chrono. And it lasting longer means we get bigger window for counterplay.

Yet here you go nerfing this while leaving the absolutely ridicilous blur/evade spammage with no counter mesures i know of completely untouched…

Actually wait, hold that thought. Here I’ll give you a balance idea before you’ll gut who knows what, that has 0 relation to the real issue.
That sword #2 of theirs, that gives them blur? Make it give blur only when it’s actually hitting something. If their target moves out of the way or blocks – no more blur 4 u mesmer! That means one block or evade completely strips blur for the rest of the move’s duration. This is specifically designed with counters such as daredevil’s bandit’s defense in mind. What would be the point of taking off blur for 1s of block only, after which you’d still hit air after you automatically stopped blocking to move in for the counter?

Passives cd indicators

in PvP

Posted by: ZeftheWicked.3076

ZeftheWicked.3076

I’m pretty sure i’m not the first to suggest it, but just in case.
Where are the passive cooldown indicators so we can know when we can rely on our passives to fire or not? This for one example is a huge thing for warriors who have passive balanced stance and defy pain traited. Knowing when you can rely on passive stab or damage ignore is often difference between a successful rush and suicide in some cases.

A lot of other profession have critically important passives where knowledge of cooldowns of such is the difference between a successful battle and death.

A good pvp experience is one that begins with easy to grasp, yet full control over your character. When your first fight is with enemy and not the interface, then you got a good start to pvp oriented gamemode.

1. You get to span boons! Erm..well one boon if we’re talking serious spam. But it’s might, yay! Not like anyone before you did that…only better (“there is no warr, there is no warr, there is no warr!”)

2. More boon corrupts and condi cleanses! Cause we all know that’s cornerstone of a raid support, not let’s say…damage buffs and strong heals!

3. kittenty sPvP – even less sustain, but more focus from enemy – no scourge = no barrier and no boon corrupts+condi cleanses, plus he’s easier to kill then ever!

4. Raids – you’re not welcomed! So far all wings are getting cleared just fine without any barriers. Not a lot of boons on bosses to corrupt either and condi cleansing gets handled just fine by current healers. No reason to take scourge whatsoever when druid fills all the bills for raid healer. Condi damage? Just about everyone and their dog has a good condi build for raid dps…well, save rev, but let’s not speak ill of the dead…

5. New type of utility – punishments! Nice one a-net, now we 100% won’t get any cool rune interactions. Reaper had shouts – that had interactions. Chronomancer got wells, which introduced necro to so badly needed quickness (rune of the chronomancer) for some super fun builds. Not this time suckers!

6. Zero unique buffs/functionality save barrier. Guess who can do your job only better? Hint: a lot of ppl. Unless they need barrier badly. So, seen anyone today who needed barrier badly?

7. No combo play. Remember reaper’s ice field, whirl & leap finishers? Forget that on scourge. You get drumroll one dark combo field. Yay!

8. You get to own hordes of enemies with cripple! The most fearsome condition of all will accompany you on just about any skillcast, fear the cripple!

Same goes for your case. Rather then being a meta sheep, you used your own nogging and defended home ensuring constant stream of points for your team.

By logic your effort alone was equal to their combined, as no matter how or why you held a capture point and i assume you won the game by holding 2/3 points most of the time. 50% of that success was you.

ZeftheWicked.3076

Welcome to Guild Wars 2:)

What you read is 100% truth. Each and every proffesion is garbage and it’ll stay that way. Because in here it’s not a profession that does something, it’s you. Being a guardian does not warrantee tankyness, being a elementalist does not warantee top damage. You gotta select the right weapon, right stats on gear, right skillset for it, and learn to DOOOOOOODGE! (for those Gohans out there). Then you may rock on your char;)

Now i’ll provide with list of…(mauahahahhaaha.. weaknesses!)..for each profession:

1. Guardian – you thought he’ll be tanky. Find physical job, you’re not much of a thinker. Also heals suspiciously less then some others, despite you’d think he’s the healer.

2. Warrior. he does allright on all fronts…for himself at least. His party..not that much (not nearly the level of guardian).

3. Necro – ragdoll crash dummy. Every cc in the book owns him unless he goes way out of himself to get stability via grandmaster trait. Also his pets are dump, they die, and they leave a dumb corpse.

4. Thief. Ever heard the one about a thief who shook off 6 conditions and killed that guy? Me neither. Thieves suck at removing conditions.

5. Elementalist – how do you call huge dps elementalist that soloes lupicus? Tissue cannon. Glass cannons are too tanky for him.

6. Engineer. Al-Queida’s finest. He knows real damage is done by walking around wrapped in bombs and detonating them under your own feet (bomb kit), or shooting stuff down with rocket turret. Both choices not too good for your health. Any other scenario = short conditions, and/or crappy damage. Also has similar stability issue as necro.

7. Mesmer. Don’t have one, can’t really say. But heard they’re squishy and their clones do what most clones do in s-f movies – anything but what you wanted them to do.

8. Ranger. Not too good with condi removal (but better then thief!), only job who’s greatsword skills make you think if you didn’t transmute a broken toothpick to look like a sword.

9. All jobs. This is the most terrrible flaw of them all. They require skill:/ None of them will give you waranteed victories simply for being “a tank” like in other games. All those evil abusive professions require you to learn the system, learn their skills, traits, proper stats on gear, and die a couple hundred times before you can say – YES! I’m average at guild wars 2!! achievement unlocked

Spike Trap ress trait is useless

in Ranger

Posted by: ZeftheWicked.3076

ZeftheWicked.3076

I can’t get my head around the idea of popping spike trap while ressing ally. How’s that supposed to help with ressing again?

Everyone who’s done bit of spvp knows that to ensure a ress you either:

1. stealth the ressed person.
2. cc the stomper.
3. ress faster.

Spike trap does none of those, and if it’s there for damage, then fail again – one single bleed for 5 seconds is pitiful. The cripple may be of bit use but there’s a ton of ways to get that as a ranger without wasting precious point on that waste of a trait.

A much better trait would be to have ranger auto cast thunderclap (his downed aoe daze skill) when he starts reviving others, or drop a trap that would inflict the new condition slow for 1-2s so that they would have to channel the stomp 2x longer for the slow’s duration.

ranger need more sources for stability

in Ranger

Posted by: ZeftheWicked.3076

ZeftheWicked.3076

As a ranger player i must say no. Just no.

We rangers already got amazing stability with rampage as one + signet of the wild traited with signet of beastmaster. On top of that we get dodge independent evasion with almost every weapon (especially sword and greatsword) and still a few stunbreakers. That block on gs and reflection on offhand axe doesn’t hurt either. nor does protection from stone spirit or bark skin.

Not to mention we’re hands down best profession when downed due to pet and not losing control over it when downed.

Ranger is the absolute best in surviving along with necro, or even above necro.

I can’t support such thread when there are engis who get stability once in a cold year or necros who gotta hog deathshroud like mad in hopes of getting any, when we got such easy access to massive source of it (RaO).

Core necro lines rework

in Necromancer

Posted by: ZeftheWicked.3076

ZeftheWicked.3076

SPITE

Spiteful reneval: Consume conditions to gain health when you are healed by a healing skill.

Conditions removed: 1.
Healing: 280 (0.1 coefficient)
icd: 3s.

Major change here. Not when “using” but when “being healed by”. This is synergy change for signet of vampirism and blood fiend that can heal you passively.
Now when your healing skill heals you (be it passive or active) this trait will activate if not on it’s own cooldown.

CURSES

Terror – additionally to existing effect – when you fear an enemy, gain stability (3s).

DEATH MAGIC

Shrouded removal – lose 2 conditions when entering shroud and every 3s after when in shroud.

Improved plague signet can pull 2 condies every 3s, also death magic needs bit more punch

Flesh of the master – in addition to existing effects: Next incoming hard cc is transfered to your minion instead (30s cooldown).

Reaper’s protection – breaking a stun fears enemies around you for 1 second and grants you protection (3s). 20s cooldown.

So far reaper’s protection doesn’t provide much..protection. This is a change to make it less passive and more usable in extended fights

Deathly Strength – convert 14% of your tougness into power. Stuns, dazes and knockdowns inflicted on you last 30% shorter.

Power necro is in the dumps. I see no need to gut the power gain based on being shrouded or not. Also another bit of anti-cc

SOUL REAPING

Master of Terror – on top of existing effects: Fears applied to you are 50% shorter.

Foot in the Grave – break stun and gain stability (3s) when you enter shroud.
Gain 15% Life force when you breakstun.

Death Perception – when entering shroud and every 6 seconds after while shrouded receive 50% extra critical chance (6s).

Now you can flash shroud or leave it right after this trait’s pulse to get some extra crit for your normal skills. For those who love to camp shroud, it’ll remain the same as before.

Dhuumfire – apply 2 stacks of burning when you auto attack in Death Shroud, one for aa in other shrouds.

Life blast sucks, Dhummfire is dead on core necro because of it. If a-net won’t care to revamp core DS then maybe it’s time to rewamp this

[anti hacker] Weapon Vault

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ZeftheWicked.3076

ZeftheWicked.3076

A certain nibling i knew got hacked and his gear…yeah. Well he got his account back and is starting from scratch but this shouldn’t happen to anyone so here’s my idea.

A weapon vault to protect your gear. It’s a account wide, character independant storage chest that will hold ascended and legendary items. One slot for each possible ascended legendary weapon. Kinda like that crafting materials deposit you can access at crafting station. At any time you just open it from inventory and withdraw the weapon, then when done you can store it back in.

Now here’s the big idea: when you store item there you bind it your account in a new way.

From that moment on, that item cannot be dropped, sold to npc or otherwise destroyed. On character deletion it’s send back to the vault. That way if you don’t want it for some odd reason, just put it in storage and close the lid. It won’t clog your inventory it won’t be forced upon you to see it. But hackers won’t be able to delete “just because”.

The binding is one way and irriversable. So if you wanna sell your legendary don’t go there. But if you got a hunch someone might be out for your shinies, that would be a good way to keep them safe.

Anyway that’s my idea on the matter. Feedback, criticism or support heartilly welcomed:)

Well to be fair HoT did take the currency value difference into acc and you payed less euros then dollars, bottom line being same price for both. So i find OP post absolutely on the spot and logical.

I don’t. I still remember necro being trash tier for dungeons until reaper saved the kitten profession.
Or ranger being “kinda healy” but not enough to really make it a playstyle (unlike druid).
Guardian not having any real ranged option save the scepter (which is a boring 3 skills 1h weapon).
Mesmer being pink butterfly job that few straight males could play without cringing…ah nvm that actually didn’t change -.-.

Anyhoo i remmeber hating the flat boring, uninspired alpine borderlands and being forced into them to get wolf pet or map completion. Thank anet for removing WvW from the last one.

In general there’s a lot fixing to do, but no, i don’t want pre-hot gw2.

I like the changes of elite specs. What i don’t like is imbalance in doing so.

Chornomancers being tanks is ok.
Chronomancers being only tanks that matter is not.

What elite specs should do is provide alternative roles and playstyles to core classes (staying true to their theme), but not set iron clad meta of “this spec is best for the role out of all professions, and all elites specs!”

Whaaa engi???? Why? First time i heard that… thief yeah they are hated by all. But engi too now???

Engi has currently strongest proven condi damage of all classes and a party wide condi damage buff. So I doubt engies would get the boot in a raid squad. Unless the leader’s a moron.

As Xalyin mentioned, our forum thieves like to play dumb with stealth duration. I had lvl 80 thief myself so i know the game.

3 points into shadow arts – infusion of shadow in adept traits. Now your cloak & dagger ends up costing 4 initiative for 4 seconds stealth as long as you have 6 initiative to start with.

And I remind you, that if you are not revealed (read: did not manage to land that backstab) then after stealth ends you’re free to immediately reenter it. Punishing as hell.

But backstab’s not the worst of it yet. The real issue of thief not being revealed after successfully dodging his atack is that he’s still invisible. He may be trying to backstab you. Or maybe he’s running to another location and extending his stealth duration while he does so. You can’t tell, just blindly flail around and hope your skills and prediction of his behaviour are spot on.
Reward for successfully stopping an stealthed assault is a still invisible thief playing mind games with you.

I’d like to touch on another side story regarding the matchmaking. That is the points you get based on your participation in the match.

As SobeSoul pointed out there is the very ungrateful, yet viable role of being the point harrasser when you do your best to get their attention and stall for time when fighting outnumbered so the rest of the team can use the advantage you made for them. Unless you have godly skills or enemies are that bad, it ends with a flag sticking out of your gut and 0 points from the player contribution system for your effort.

The same can be said about people who defend their points. My reward for successfully defending a point are points for killing the assaulter at best, or nothing at all if he escapes and i decide not to pursue as my goal is to safeguard the point, not run around map after one guy.

At the end of a match, guy who did the heaviest lifting (fighting outnumbered) or took the most boring, but sometimes very vital role (guarding a point) looks like a noob to his team that only made them drag their feet.

I find this very upsetting and unacceptable.

From time to time i hear people complaining about condi rangers OP etc nonsense. As your average raid condi ranger i must say this is completely bs. Try going sloth on condi ranger for example.

The damage is there, the cc is there, the not over the top rotation is a fact.
But in exchange you have 0 support for party, no blocks, squishy, can’t make any big plays.

Compared to shunned necro who can teleport-ress ppl, has real projectile block that’s easy to slot (no huge dps loss from going cpc over blood is power), has tons of hp even at his squishiest (shroud+base), can easily pull mobs for some cleaving with gs#5 and ironically has mobility (reaper #2) i felt like i’m playing the poor cousin.

For some 5k dps difference is mortal sin. For me condi reaper ain’t a bad deal at all as long as you know your rotation.

How is the GS ??

In pvp it’s not too hot. It’s supposed to help keep enemy pinned in melee but fails horribly at that task.

1. auto attack is one of the two biggest offenders. Not only is it horribly slow (which makes sense to a degree since it’s a necro) but it has abysmal 130 units reach. Pair that up with necro’s movement speed (or more precisely lack of) and you got an auto that’s incredibly difficult to land. Especially with the last hit (the chilling one) taking forever and having visual cue biggeer then great wall of China..

2. gravedigger – big risk big reward. Huge, long windup (though not that much longer then horrid auto) but for a big damage payoff at and, and no cooldown if it hits a downed opponent or someone below 50% hp. Sounds real good, but in reality you won’t use it too much. In 1v1 it’s very easy to spot and dodge. In group situations by the time gravedigger lands you may end up eating more damage yourself from the aoe spam from enemies.

3. again huge windup for big reward (12 stacks of vulni). Unlike the auto attack however this one comes with respectable reach (220 units) for that reason this skill is actually good and balanced.

4. though it inflicts darkness and cripple this is the brightest ray of hope for necro gs. Fast to cast, creates growing aoe that pulses blinds and cripples every 2s. I would dare say open up with this one and then go for aa. Most enemies will dodge on the spot, burning their escape and making it easier to land that aa.

5. Grasping Darkness. Second biggest offender in the “GS sucks” case. A ranged mob pull with freeze on 30s cooldown. Sounds awesome. But this ain’t a recording studio it’s a pvp gs review. And in practice it’s horrid.

Tracking issues, very visible cue, 30s cooldown, all too often becoming aegis fodder instead of a pull, people having quite the amounts of stab. All this ofc can be worked around (if you’re lucky with single “Nothing can save you!” cast), but the point is a relentless pursuer that the reaper is supposed to be should a better capability for dragging his prey back into melee range, rather then once every 30s shot.

6. Greatsword trait is stuck with chilling victory and decimate defenses as alternatives. Decimate being triple A trait of extreme importance for tougher power builds, while chilling victory a great source of might and life force for those who like to stay cool in a group of enemies.

7. Reaper shroud. The last nail in the coffin. Why bother with slow gs auto when you got fast aa on rs and with respectable reach to boot? (170 minimum)? Need to chase down fleeing enemy? Here gap closer is a 6s cooldown not 30. Stability? Check! Fear to control them? Double Check! Freezing and stun in one? Check-o!

And you don’t need to wield a greatsword for all the above!

Cause this time around price is great and there’s no new profession.
No no flamewalls about sick pricetag or missing character slot. Or launch somewhere around the time mars starts getting colonized.

Good job a-net on learning the lessons of HoT and providing smooth, no marketing shanenigans PoF launch. Thumbs up, that’s how it’s done!

@OP if you suck (which hopefully is the case) then i got good news for you. You can easily improve your win ratio with one simple trick:

accept you suck. Simple as that. Once done with that it’ll get way better, since rather then tryharding to prove something you’ll focus on map awareness and taking objectives. If you can’t fight, then be a good roamer and a pest in general.

When i play my condi ranger in ranked, i rarely go mid or generally into big brawls. Instead i cap/decap lone points, set traps in choke points and drop in for quick kill when the big fight is already underway and some of enemy big skills got burned. Go in, down them, stomp them (if not under heavy fire), go out.

There is a LOT to be gained by just being in the right place at the right time, even if you fight like you were wasted.

1. Same build as you, so no advantages/disadvantages.
2. Blinding powder still works, he can’t attack you from distance.
3. Now that he can punish you with it, you might bait distortion from him sending his clones/phantasm to oblivion. Also his stealth would follow same penalties as yours.
4. What about it?
5. Use stealth to set up caltrops on his spot, rather then smashing your #1 against his gear shield?
6. If you don’t attack you don’t get revealed, use stealth to catch your breath/pull out.
7. I don’t see a problem here, they usuallly don’t have shield equipped and aegis is not a warrior’s thing.
8. Necro – only thing they have is blindness, and that either has sick cooldown, or 3/4s cast time – large enough to take notice and evade if you’re focused reactive player…which a good thief should be more then any other profession (except maybe lockdown mesmer)
9. Even easier.

White Knights @ Free Market.

I must say i’m astounded by defenders of pre-purchase deals and especially when they use the “A-net is a company, not charity” argument.

Well..DUH. So while we’re there….ever heard of free market, dear fellow knights?
You know the place where the price is dictated by supply and demand? That demand part meaning players. To bargain, haggle or right down taunt and shout at certain practices and conditions one side presents to another is simply the way this thing works.

If a-net was soo poor, so bashed and so bullied…they would close up and go home.
Understand this (and i say this as an economics MA) – this is free market – it’s natural to pull your end of the rope, because you can be kitten sure a-net’s marketing team is pulling theirs.

And all those flames, and bashing is extremely beneficial for a-net. Because a client that shouts nags and discusses is a client that can be negociated with and met with somewhere halfway, leading to a sale. Much worse is the case when no one says nothing, just takes a look, goes “eee. no” in his own mind and walks away.

If it was not as I say, a-net would not offer that extra slot for owners of base game in pre-purchase. That’s them giving us inch of the rope, while still pulling hard their end. It’s called business. Same reason our job is pull our end and not give them an inch. So they get more sales, because we get a good offer.
