Well, how are you playing the game?
Running 7 different dungeon path nets you more than 7g – excluding loots.
(AC 1 and 3, CoF 1 and 2, SE 1 and 3, HotW 1) – you could always add CoE 1,2 and 3 for extras.
Running temple runs nets you more than 10 gold on average, around 7 if unlucky.
Gathering all Ori nodes using 1 toon may net more than 2g.
Killing PvE bosses can be random, due to their timing and RNG of Globs, but still a good source of money.
So unless you are planning to craft legendaries/ascended, I suggest sell T6 mats and Globs and Loot bags for cash.
It’s “easy” to gain gold in this game – that’s why others have many of them . You just need to tune your activities into correct ones.
Run dungeons – for what purpose?
Farm gold – for what purpose?
Champ trains – lol
WvW – for what purpose?
PvP – for what purpose?
This is exactly how I feel after playing for around an hour.
I mean, I like the game, but there seem to be no purpose. No synergy between those said above.
I mean, yeah, we killed the champ. We got loot. What impact does it have on the world? none.
Yeah! Server is tier 1 on WvWvW! And? Oh we brag blah blah…
I disagree. You shouldn’t be doing anything that would cause infractions in the first place.
There will always be complaints because some people think the game is made for themselves instead of for the community.
get him on dungeons again, we haven’t had a single dungeon change since ac. this is getting ridiculous.
Uh have you seen how popular the AC dungeon changes were? not very, very few even enter the place anymore, i think AC was a failed experiment big time…
All Guildwars 2 dungeons are frustration and tedium, but AC has a special place in them all now..
Because there are more easier dungeons than it. CoF… CoE…
Now, if all would be revamped, people would “flock” lower level dungeons again – unless the players now evolved into brainless husks who doesn’t/could not do/could not adapt to hard/challenging contents.
I have ran AC because I am levelling my Ranger – most PUG suck. Doesn’t know how to dodge – even forgetting to talk to NPC to choose path sigh.
All my AC runs this week we had to skip Kholer since everyone seems to be – well – dying.
SOR is unconstested

This is NOT JUST about me, this is for everyone.
Do NOT tell people to change the way they form their OWN group. If you want to have non-80s, fine. Form YOUR OWN group.
Their group, their rules.
Well, unless you want a skin, theres no reason to run any dungeon or any other path other than CoF 1, unless you are someone that just wants a change of scenery.
Whatever fix they have planned for COF, it needs to come quick. All other dungeons are kind of abandoned now.
Maybe bump up the chest rewards in dungeons, but the last chest in a dungeon is determined by the average completion time, or “difficulty” of the dungeon, etc? Maybe group up the dungeons into tiers, so that tier 1 gets X loot table for the final chest, tier 2, gets X + 1, tier 3 gets X + 2..etc.
If you think that farming X dungeons is more efficient than X+1 (since these might take a bit longer and be a bit more challenging), then you do X. Otherwise, run the X +1 (t2) dungeons.
This.
They should make all dungeons hard. I don’t want to sound elitist – but why are we able to finish CoF in 6-10mins? It’s a dungeon for crying out loud. It should be a test of teamwork, cooperation, strategy and communication – not a test of the Hundred Blades and Portals.
It’s like Ironman saying “I have a plan – attack”.
Someone said GW2 is becoming a “Pay to win” game, and their argument is that on PvE, you win by getting flashy skins. Since ANet is releasing new skins on TP, you must save gold to convert to gems (unless you wanna spend $$$) to buy those “winning” skins.
Therefore, gold = winning.
:)
These threads get nowhere, because there will literally never be any middleground to determine what casual really is…ever. Subjective, to state the obvious. Casual by definition means infrequent. Put that into context and you have a casual person=someone who doesn’t have a lot of fixed time to play the game, period.
But what a lot of you plebs have to get through your skull, is that how this game does have a status ladder. And yes you do have to be a frequent player to stay the top of this ladder. It’s not in the form of getting from gate 1 to gate 2 in progression through gear stat increases. It’s in the visuals. Think about it. You see a guy in full T3 and a couple legendaries….you’re going to say “Hey I wanna be like that guy…but I’m a pleb and have no time….oh well.” It’s the same thing. That person put in just as much time if not more to become a status symbol, just like the guy in the #1 guild in WoW raiding ladders. This game isn’t any more or less casual than other MMOs. Just stop fooling yourselves and saying it is.
The difference is – you have the same stats as the guy with a legendary – only your weapon’s skin – sucks compared to his.
All games MMO needs time and effort – the difference is, on GW2, you can still compete using rares/common exotics to the players who got that shiny legendary. There is no pressure from the community to get that legendary because it’s powerful. The pressure comes from the player because he wants it.
Want < Need.
Players are the ones making this non-casual due to their thinking. “Ohhhh I want a legendary but I don’t wanna work on it for more than 30 minutes. I need to have it in less than 30 minutes” – seriously, some guys sounds like that.
I run Hammer/Staff 0/0/30/20/20 AH on my Guard, guess I’ll never see 90% of people posting in this thread in-game. lol
No one has ever kicked me so far.
Yeah maybe but you just slow down the run
Still no one kicked me. No one complained, PUG or guild. “I” slowed them, what? 1 minute or less for CoF and HotW? A few minutes on Arah and AC? Oh wait, maybe they carried me? Oh yes! Me swinging that hammer does absolutely no damage. Me giving Virtue 1 adds 1 damage. I did NOTHING for the group.
Because everytime we run a dungeon, we have this mindset. Finish early – wait, no… It’s finish this dungeon on X time – if we can’t, it’s the doom of mankind.
Curse the one Necro who joined us. Kitten that warrior, who despite the last man standing if we wipe, uses the 5 signet. It’s always their fault, right? Oh we wiped because that Ranger would not pop the Healing Spring. We took 1 minute more on Lupi because that Warrior would not share buffs.
I am not forcing this “bad build” – I’m just saying a few minutes late than the average run time is negligible – unless you’re dying and only have few moments to live.. This is of course, in my point of view.
PS:
And yes, I know how to play DPS guardian. I just cycle through common builds to see people’s reaction. Was a bit disappointed in-game, here in the forums, I saw what I wanted to see. Cheers!
(edited by knives.6345)
I would like to see that happen – I personally find GW2 boring now. But if that happens, expect to have tons of QQ all over the forums.
“Anet, this is too hard, not casual friendly!!!!”
“Anet doesn’t want us to do dungeons anymore!!!!”
“Anet only caters hardcore players! I can only play <insert few hours here> hours a day/week/month!!! This is ridiculous!”
“I’m done – I’m better off at <insert random non-Anet MMO here>!!!”
:)
While 99.9% of the time I do skip and prefer skip – this idea would be a welcome change of pace…
I mean, trashes should still be skippable, but mini bosses (ie Kholer) should not be…
Meh screw it, this game isn’t worth the aggravation.
Cant tank here
Cant heal here
Cant farm mats here
Support is horrid (say what you want but WoW would of fixed this in 20 minutes with a full restore, even on a sunday)
Cant invest in your toon who may or may not get wiped at any momentThe email bad link does it for me, “oh reset your password so we can send you a bad confirmation link”
LOL ya how about no.
uninstalling, guys who were cool, wish you all the best.
Haters, hope you log in tomorrow in your boxers, lolYou only realized that the game doesn’t suit your play style after getting hacked?
Search his posts, he’s quit the game before.
I am not really into digging a players post history, but this kind of “sudden realization” really puts my palm into my face.
And OP, why the heck would Anet hack you?
Depends on the effort:reward ratio. Also, depends on the event.
For example
I like SAB skins, but I don’t like the event = I didn’t play.
I don’t like Scarlett but I need gold = I play.
I feel like people should reorganize their priorities to reduce their personal Grind. If they asked themselves questions like, “What do I really want to do in this game?” And “What am I willing to do to achieve my goals in this game?” And “What am I not willing to sacrifice for this game?” people might come away less dissatisfied.
Great point!
Personally, I think everyone wants:
-Legendary
-Ascended
-Do monthlies/dailies
But they don’t want to work hard for it. It’s like telling ANet indirectly “hey, gimme stuff”.
Why play an MMORPG? Why not play a solo game, enter a cheat to have 999999 gold, buy all items and hack/slash inside the game?
I see complaints: “Why include crafting to dailies?”, “Why do I need to resu people to get dailies? It’s soooooo boooooring”
Then another: “Legendary’s a grind. I did a math and it will take you 100 years for a casual to get one. It’s too hard….”
I mean, do players really don’t want to work hard anymore? Is this the society we are in? We feel that we should have things the easy way everytime?
In chat is good. The other MMO I’ve played have that feature…
If all that interests you is crafting, why does getting to level 80 even bother you?
Because of max stats? Wearing what YOU crafted?
@topic
Not everyone wants to repeat the content for an alt. I have 3 characters sitting on level 40 because it’s too kitten boring to repeat hearts, explore Tyria, re-run dungeons for exp purposes (oh and btw, since most people are only talking to Warriors, Mes and Guardians, my poor Necro/Engi usually gets insta-kicked on PuG. Guilds and I see only on weekends due to timezone differences, and I have other things to do on a weekend other than play so…) and no, the personal story sucks the X time, where X is more than the first. My server sucks at WvWvW, making gaining exp a lot slower than doing hearts. Transfer is expensive (no, I’m not going to delete 4 level 80’s)…
While I didn’t do crafting to 80, I understand why people do it. I don’t agree with it though. ANet needs to give viable ways to enjoy the field. Right now, what’s supposed to be dynamic has become static and boring…
If this is such an issue, remove EXP from crafting – you already have an incentive – to get gears. Or reduce the EXP so that if you manage to max out all professions, max level is 40. That’s it. Or you no longer gain EXP/gain very little EXP once you reach a certain level.

I know this is incredibly radical, but please bear with me. What if they made… more non-trench coats for medium armor classes?
.
.
.
((Please pardon my sarcasm. But really: I’m a girly girl, I’d like some more girly-girl choices. Excluding unboob and S&M get-ups.))
This, except the girly part…
I’d be down for this, but not without an overhaul to enemy AI. How many mobs do you see that willingly take 100blades to the face? I feel that that’s more of a pressing concern.
Make mobs dodge too. lol
I still don’t get why the manifesto and “word for word” are in the same sentence. A manifesto is a declaration of your intentions how to work toward your beleifs, it’s not a word for word promise, just sayin’.
But people are taking it as a bible and GW2 is the religion. People think that the manifesto is an unbreakable vow that ANet needs to strictly follow and one diversion from the intention would mean a catastrophe, an apocalypse.
Disclaimer: This is not a flame thread. I really intend to see everyone’s views.
Now, I see spawns of threads that the game has a grind – from Legendary Items, to Ascended to the latest one: Dailies.
Main question:
Now, discarding those – what else do you do that is “not a grind”?
I mean, I don’t want to sound elitist, but grind cannot be avoided entirely on a MMORPG. It can be minimized – and compared to most MMORPG’s I played, GW2 has the least amount of grind.
What I am saying is, you are not required to have a Legendary, nor run FoTM to have Ascended, nor complete the Dailies. It’s all up to you if you to do/get them.
And lastly, though grind has a definitive term in a dictionary, I still feel it is subjective to a person’s perspective. A person who likes what he/she does will not feel a grind, but to someone (note: this is my personal view, please, don’t flame) who is lazy and/or feels like everything should be obtained easily whenever he/she wants it (commonly called “entitled”) will feel the grind – simply because he/she doesn’t want to work “hard” for it.
Just my 2 cents.
kRiza krimosYea it gets like that when you’r used to get everything you want.
It has nothing to do with greed. RNG is just a terrible system as it creates an unfair playing field due to being completely based on random chance. If skins could be acquired through skill, say by winning tickets through the playing and winning of Dragon Ball matches or being a top 3 player x many times, it would be far more satisfying as you have stuff to look forward to that is achieveable if you put in a bit of effort and acquire skill.
RNG causes some people to get 3 weapon tickets after having acquired 25 boxes and others to have none after 500+ opened chests.
Because RNG is the only thing that balances out people with tons of time to play and people that get almost no time to play. Thanks to RNG – both have equal chances – take note of the word “chances” – to get the item.
Please tell me what should I buy to “win”…
Do quests. Do hearts…
I don’t understand how peoiple have to “go for dailies”. You mean you don’t gather as you’re running by stuff anyway? You mean you don’t end up killing 50 things while just running around? You mean to tell me crafting something or visiting a laurel vendor taks you so far out of your game.
I call BS. These things mostly happen naturally. Maybe at the end of my play session I have to finish one in a couple of minutes, but usually I finish the daily without even thinking about it.
And no I don’t think you’re playing wrong. I think you’re exhausted all the content. It’s like any game when you’ve exhausted the content. You get bored. How many hours have you played OP?
Not everyone plays the same as you though.
Why assume everyone is running around areas randomly, doing dailies along the way? Everyone’s play style is different. Not everyone is constantly running around zones randomly to do their dailies as they come about. And not everyone can play for hours straight, just picking up their dailies as they go.
Some people are only running dungeons. They have to go out of their way to do dailies. Or those in WvW or SPvP. They have to do the same thing. Or how about those that only have a couple hours to play a day? They have to go out of their way to get it done before they log off.
For those that want the best gear in the game, they have to do the dailies every day to get it. And most the time for those people, they have to go out of their way to do it. So in order for them to progress, they have to do dailies. Which ends up being their “endgame” cause it’s the only way to get the gear.
So while you spend all your time roaming around the world randomly, taking care of your dailies at a leisurely pace, others are having to go out of their way to get them done so they can progress. We don’t all have the luxury of time, nor do we all have the same play style.
If you don’t have the luxury of time – then prioritize.
Why can’t you play much? If if you have something to do that is important (ie: study, work, bond with family..) then deal with it.
ANet should not modify the game to cater everyone’s playstyle. The game is casual enough to make each other competitive without having the top tier gear.
Now if you really want the BiS gear, make time. If you can’t because of whatever priorities, deal with it. It’s how the world works.
People now sounds like entitled “I want this but it doesn’t fit my style, modify it to fit my style”. I mean, dude, there are certain sacrifices that one should make in order to get what someone wants.
I would use me as an example: I want a legendary. Not just those easy to get, but I specifically want the Twilight or Flameseeker. For me, that’s my endgame. I don’t have time, I have work. I have little time to play weekdays. Do I whine about how hard it is getting them? No. I deal with it. I have other important things to do. I play when I can, thus get what is equal to the time I played.
(edited by knives.6345)
No.
Don’t make the easy game alot more easier. Let people put in some little effort to get what they want.
We should be able to use whatever build we want.
You can use whatever you want when you are alone, but in a party there are four other people you should think of. People ought to respect their fellow team members and don’t force them to carry anyone in masterwork or sentinel/cleric/shaman/rabid/carrion gear. Same goes with selfish magic find leeching, it helps you, but kicks the other four people in their faces.
Because my gear is none of your frigging business.
If you join my party, it is my business, because I will have to make up for your bad gear.
Brilliant. Because gear is the only thing used measure of a person’s play skill. Bravo.
Ah time to take a break in-game for 1 day…
Where is it written that I am required to do my Dailies? Link pls. Thanks!
No. We just vote a kick if a person is bad and is not willing to learn.
I usually advertise on gw2lfg – “Any class/build/gear”
…the farmers are rushing to get as many rewards as possible before the nerfhammer hits. It’s not the farmers fault really…
It really is. Try actually playing the game as it is intended to be played instead of squeezing every copper out of it until Anet is forced to step in.
Is it stated somewhere that farming is illegal? I thought “it is not required” – means, we can farm “if we want”.
