I’m annoyed in Orr, mainly because all WP are contested. Good events but I guess people are not doing it for reasons stated above.

Still, I don’t hate it. Good Karma farm, especially Plinx and Arah.

Unfortunately the player is not the problem here. Anything could have come up in that thing called “real life” forcing someone to have to log out. What the problem is the game mechanics do not allow for a transfer of “dungeon ownership” to another party member.

This. The Party Lead role should either be transferred automatically to a new member or the dungeon could be paused, and a voting screen (like how we are picking up paths) will appear, with the names of active members.

Game gets boring...

I’m bored with the game. I rarely experience lag, but the task seem quite repetitive and unrewarding (in terms of self satisfaction).

I hate re-exploring what I already explored with my 1st (and 2nd, and 3rd and 4th) toon.

Wish the devs would just randomly summon a unnamed dragon/boss in the middle of LA, just to spice things up…

Lol Stacking this is a fun game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6345

knives.6345

If you don’t enjoy stacking, then don’t stack?

Try that in a pug in any dungeon. See what happens. Go do AC at the spider queen. Go do the weapon test fractal. Actually play the game to know what people are talking about.

Create your own group and state you don’t want to stack. The people saying lol yeah here would join you.

It does not work. Games are about overcoming challenges, and stacking overcomes challenges. For the same reason no one is going to play without any traits because they want content to be more challenging, they are going to stack even if they don’t like stacking. Threads like these are not about pressuring players out of strategies that work, but about reaching to the devs, because it is their design and the blame lies solely with them. Stacking is stupid and boring and it’s a shame that it’s so effective.

There are more than 5 people in the forum that is against stacking. Sure you can form your own group in-game…

If you see someone support this, their usernames are on the right side, add them, form a schedule, form a group.

If there’s a will, there’s a way.

Have we become spoiled?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6345

knives.6345

MMO players are the most spoiled out of all gamers.

But in all the MMOs I have played I have never seen a more spoiled fanbase than GW2.

I wouldn’t call the players here spoiled. Being spoiled is always the fault of the person who does the spoiling of the persons that are spoiled (as in parents who let their kids do anything they want or get everything they want).

Now people that come to these forums just to hate on the game or to troll would you say that is Anet’s fault? No they are not spoiled and this is NOT the most spoiled fanbase at all.

Well actually it could be said that we are the most spoiled but that would be speaking of those that DO NOT come to the forums to complain because they are perfectly happy with the game. So in that context it would be a good thing. :P

I respectfully disagree.

Most people posting here are spoiled. All I can see is “I want…”, “I want this now…”, “I want this fast…”, “I want less work…”.

That’s how most posts translate for me. It could be just me but I think I could name a few (not link a few) topics that commonly imply “I want…”.

On a serious note, since dungeons are instanced – meaning it’s unique to every other group – I think the way ANet designed this is to bind it to an owner.

Bad design IMO, since I’ve played other MMO’s where dungeons are also instanced and when the owner (starter/party lead) leaves, it’s passed to the next available player.

How GW2 is NOT casual.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6345

knives.6345

People forget what the definition of casual actually is. Relaxed and unconcerned. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I feel obligated to participate in dungeons to earn as much money as people that play for 10 hours a day and I DO NOT get the “relaxed” feeling when I have to play for 3 hours or more to actually accomplish something. I have not seen Anet implement a single casual activity to do since the game was released. FoTM, Guild Missions, Ascended gear, all of those things are for hardcore players. And, if you disagree, think about the ways to get ascended gear. 30 laurels, which is 30 days of playing. 30 days is a ridiculous amount of time for a “casual” player. Guild Missions, which require massive amounts of time to organize, again, not a casual activity. Fractals, is the longest dungeon in GW2 and requires the most time. Tell me again how GW2 is made for casual players.

What do you need gold for if you are “casual”?

You said it yourself, casual should be “Relaxed and unconcerned” – yet you are concerned about gold, gears and dungeons. You are concerned about Ascended – which I believe you are concerned about gears. You are complaining about FoTM – means you’re concerned with dungeons.

You just contradicted your meaning of “casual”.

Oh and that 30 days for laurels? You can finish dailies within 30 minutes. That’s a lot less than the 3 hours/day you specified, plus you accomplished something – got a laurel.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

knives.6345

How do you define “casual gaming”?

I define it by the exact opposite of “hardcore gaming” where you melt the chair with your butt sitting for weeee tons of hours playing the game.

I believe GW2 is casual friendly based on the description I provided. I was unable to play for nearly 3 months and when I came back, the only thing I missed are some skins – cosmetics, which I like – but can live without. I was not left behind. Try leaving for 3 months in other MMO and when you come back, you’d be like “wth are those gears??”

I can play for 2-3 hours a day and not be pressured of getting the top tier (ascended) gear. I settled for Exotics and I observed that Ascended doesn’t have much much difference. Okay, maybe the group wearing ascended would finish a dungeon 10seconds faster than us, but it’s not a big deal for me.

It’s not about the loots. It’s about chance getting them. Players who participated got the chance to loot them. RNG worked, some got them, some didn’t. Tough luck.

But for us living on a different timezone, it feels like we were stripped of the opportunity to “have a chance, have a shot of getting those items”. It’s like being racist. Sorry, then.

If that’s his definition of fun, let him. Does it hurt you? Why keep imposing on how other play?

Sorry, we skip mobs to get that chest and gold – which is apparently, a reward for finishing the dungeon, or reaching the end and killing boss – not for killing everyone inside.

I can’t kill them on my own but there is a huge pressure in the chat NOT to kill a champ before a train arrives. And I don’t like that. That is my message.

Well, what you’re doing is telling people to stop how they want to play so you can play how you want to play… Ironic..

You’re missing my point. If people want to kill champs with others, fine to me. They can do so. If I’m ordered to not kill a champ, that’s a different story. And yes, I know i can make a report, but I don’t feel like that. I want to play the game.

Then what’s stopping you from NOT taking the order? Play how you want and let them play how they want. If they got to the champ you’re killing – deal with it – you didn’t kill it fast enough. They have their goals, you have yours – unfortunately, if both people can’t get a compromise, the majority wins and you have to deal with it.

A Casually Fading Game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6345

knives.6345

Because basing difficulty of the game on a very tiny (even if equally loud) minority that will finish any content in hours anyway, and then cry there’s no endgame is not really a good strategy in a game that was advertised as catering to casuals.

So much this. The harder you make content, the less people will actually end up doing it. Anet made AC harder than it was. People stopped running it.

Why would Anet make content people don’t play?

People stopped doing it because there is another dungeon – CoF – who they can finish 6-10mins and net almost the same rewards.

There really is no incentive to run AC nowadays – aside from the exp gained which could net 2-3 levels per path on lower levels.

Plus – GW2 players aren’t accustomed to hardships. lol

They should put in a specific loot per dungeon – like you can only get this <insert rare/exotic item here> on <insert dungeon here>

But then again, nooooo. People will rage “I don’t do dungeons it’s impossible….”, “This is no longer for casualsssssssssss”, “ANet wants us to farmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!”, “I want my legendary easy to get, like looting a random stone”

Levels segregate the game world

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6345

knives.6345

You can only do crafting in 1 day if you have gold. If you have gold, means you have other character/s.

Going AFK on day 1, character 1 is NOT good.

or you can buy gems and transform it to gold from the day 1

but letting the ironic part aside…. even if they afk form day one and they let the PC open for 300h they will not have their skills open or maxed, they won’t have gold or karma either… so why did they buy the game for?
They will just have max health and toughens… so what? it is not something that will make them survive the game

You need to take in consideration one thing. people DON’T see any numbers like levels on their characters. They will not even notice if their stats went higher or not.

They will not feel the need to level. They will just use the skills and see they level up.
The game system doesn’t show onto your screen like “you need 3h:40m:52s till next stats change” – 10% in 10h aka 1%/h is such a neglect-able amount which won’t even be notices unless you are told so by friends or other sources.

Also, the age is per character not account so you will not be able to level more alts in the same time and it is already implemented in the game as /age command and it is used for character’s birthday gifts

Currently people can level like 1level / 50 min so it is less then 80h to get to level 80 mainly using the number 1 auto-attack. With the age system implemented, they will focus more on leveling skills – aka gameplay and not crafing – to become better.

It is similar with the account magic find. I bet only a minority buys the greens from TP to max it, the rest are salvaging anything they get from drops.

Buying gems and mats still puts waaay more effort than being away after playing and still getting exp.

The point I’m making is, even if the person is NOT on the PC watching their character, it’s gaining “age” (exp) and is going stronger – which is NOT supposed to happen on MMO.

Ok, lets say one person lets the PC open for 300 h ~ 13 days and gets max health, max toughnes, etc. Than buys gems and turns them to gold and buys the best gear possible.
Fine.. he is still a noob in the game becasue his skills are lvl 1 so he needs to start playing to level the skills too

Now, we have a person who buys a lot of gems, puts them to gold and spends 20 h in the crafting station and gets max level and buys all the max gear.
Whhat does he get? 70 skills points, all skills unlocked, 70 trait points. and he is a noob player with all the gears and skills open for him in 20 H at the max power

The age system is more inconvenient for him them the crafting system
but for you 300h of AFKing which doesn’t give you any skill points or trait points and the skills you have are the lowest level more offending then the crafting.
Sorry, but i don’t understand your thinking

Again.. There is NO drawback on waiting. You are AFK. You are NOT playing the game, yet you’re character grows strong. You are at school/work/mall/friends yet your toon grows. You’re NOT doing anything inside the game other than god knows – sitting/dancing? You’re NOT playing the game.

Crafting, on the other hand is PART of the game. You have to be there to get to 80. It’s one of the option to get to 80.

My argument is not how noob the player is or how fast we’ll get to the end – my argument is about exerting effort in actually playing the game.

PS:

It’s too easy to get to 80 in this game, idk why we even have this topic. Gamers have become too lazy I think. You can get to 80 mark 1-2 weeks time.

The AFK kick off system is implemented already and can help out in the situation you describe. it can monitor the character activity and stop the aging system when the AFK system takes charge

Still, people can alt tab, move 1 square to the front, go back being AFK, gain xp while doing nothing related to the game…

Same scenario as I described.

the whole thread started because the levels are segregating the players. What is your solution of eliminating the levels while my idea is not of your likings.
Besides, the idea i had is not entirelly mine it is just adapted to fit GW2 becasue it is taken from Age of Wusho where people are gaining exp by meditating aka AFKing and then spend it into leveling skills of their likings.

I don’t have a solution because I don’t see any reason why levels should be eliminated/replaced. It will just become trivial.

I never felt segregated because if you go to wvwvw/spvp, you are uplevelled. In pve – you’re NOT supposed to handle “harder” content if you are “young”. Imagine a novice fighting Zhaitan. -_-

I mean, condition still sucks, heals/tanks are still useless, so what do we have? A build that does less damage for no reason.

If it’s specified on LFG “80s, zerk/scholars only – speed run.” and some guy with clerics showed up, how would you feel?

While I don’t agree with OP having a strict filter (though I suggested it before, I had a change of heart since it will “strictly” alienate some people) – if I specify a requirement on LFG, I expect people who are joining MY group to comply with MY requirement. Otherwise, expect a kick and if you send me a PM asking why I kicked you, I will refer you back to my LFG description. If you trashtalk me, I will report and ignore you.

I’m using the Claw of Jormag event as an example.

I know the event is optional — I’ve seen those words a billion times on this forum before. That’s my problem. Why would people do this to themselves for something that’s optional?

The moment I enter Frostgorge, I feel like I throw down my weapons and replace them with a shovel and plough. I respect the actual people that spend their time out in the fields in the sun, mud and the snow. But in a fantasy game environment, I find it extremely hard to believe anybody having any fun at all spending two hours fighting the same enemies for a tiny chance at getting anything good.

I’m here to play a game and kill me a dragon. I’m tired of feeling like the old couple in the painting below. I really don’t think this sort of “gimme your items” behavior belongs in a fantasy setting such as Tyria. It’s not heroic at all. The second you kill Zhaitan is the second you become an assembly line worker.

I hesitate to mention the Manifesto, but like, we’re totally grinding.

No one told you to grind. No one required you to grind.

Ask yourself, why do you want to do it? If you have an answer, then ask yourself again – are you required to do it/have it?

If you answered yes on the last question, I want to know what is it that needs to be done/you need to have that requires grind. (take note, “need” not “want”)

If you answered no on the last question, then you can only blame yourself.

OMG.

I…Love…This…Post.

My server haven’t yet beaten Teq (I think) and I still don’t want any changes. We need to L2P as a team.

Should be. I’m from South East Asia too, we’re just below SG so yeah.

And SG’s internet is alot faster than us – I don’t lag, so they shouldn’t too.
