Anet said many times the entire game is end game, which they explained to mean that you do the same thing at end game as you do when leveling. This is what was said, and I’ll paraphrase it because I wouldn’t begin to know where to look for the specific quote.
I googled “GW2 endgame” and found this:
https://www.engadget.com/2012/01/23/flameseeker-chronicles-we-dont-need-no-stinkin-endgame/
“ArenaNet doesn’t want to give us a game that completely and fundamentally changes once you reach endgame. If the team did that, it would mean that once you reach endgame, either you do not have the game you paid for in the first place or you do not have the game you paid for until you reach endgame. I don’t know about you, but neither of those options is appealing to me. I’ll take the entertainment I paid for right out of the gate, thank you!…
Jon Peters’ quote: "Endgame is such a dirty word. We want our game to be the endgame. We don’t like the idea of a game that changes when you hit max level…
In most games, you play the game you get up to max level and the entire game changes. You were doing one thing, and then now you’re doing something else. Here, when you get to max level you continue to do the same sorts of things you enjoyed while leveling."
I guess according to you and the others I’m responding to, endgame is another place that Anet did a complete 180 from their original intent for the game.
Actually its’ not true. Since this game launched with Orr, which casual people complained as too hard even back then, it’s exactly the game Anet promised. Orr was NEVER too hard. It’s just that some people couldn’t cope with the increase in difficulty from the day of launch. It wasn’t that Anet changed the game from launch to HoT. It’s that players that couldn’t keep up complained so much that Orr was changed, and for every player that liked the changes to Orr, I’m convinced another player disliked them because Orr, which had be interesting, difficult and challenging, became a karma/XP farm zone.
The fact is, people said the same things about Orr at launch as they did about HoT.
You believe that the game has changed from core, but core had to change to get to the game you’re crowing about. And I liked it less after that nerf, not more.
Gw2 wiki is written and edited by players, not Anet and you are free to edit it to make it clearer.

We ALL know why people in EotM want Pips, so that they can get easy rewards, along with easy rank ups. EotM has been and will always be used as a easy place to level/rank up.

First and foremost enjoy yourself.
37 WvW kills, R2 PvP and no legendary
If you die 2-3 times in an hour you are doing something wrong.
Or you are roaming against impossible odds.

Thief actually are the most common enemies i have encountered since patched and no matter roaming or squading. Even squad vs squad fight they are widely seen teasing our squadees, isolate and assassinate our members, getting in and out like air.
For sure they are more demanding on personal skill, it is a undeniable fact but they are exceed viable when used right. I also play druid in wvw and i seriously never felt the same way OP felt.

Or just make wvw rewards follow the same trend as say fractal rewards
We could have:
T1 (exotic) armor and weapons gained from R1 to maybe R2000
T2 ascended rewarded at various ranks maybe R2000 – R6000
T3 ascended rewarded from R6000 to R10,000
And finally the legendary back piece at R10,000
Or we could just keep it like it is and stop complaining
I reccomend teq for u instead of wvw.
With recent changes to wvw, it became clear that classes like guards/war/necro/eles/revs (basically those must have in squad) get advantage over other classes in wvw because they are allowed into squad and allowed to zerg in wvw which allows them to gain ranks/pips faster in wvw. Meanwhile rest of the classes get kicked/forced into roaming due to their class design which results in less rank/pip gains in wvw.
Since wvw community and devs deemed it as fair and logical system i propose that zerg classes (guards, eles and co.) gain less shards/rewards/pips in other game modes (pvp/pve) compared to other classes (engis/druids etc.) to make up for the reward difference.
How, exactly, can anyone prevent you from following the commander/zerg with just about any class or build? So what if you’re not in the squad? WvW is actually the one game mode where class discrimination matters the least. Ask just about any revenant who wants to dps in a raid, for instance.
DBL is actually a nice map if it has people on it for a change…
I was on this map last night. I agree it was more fun running into other havok groups and fighting over camps and such. Way better in my humble opinion than running around with a zerg.
…This focus on pips is starting to get stupid.
Winner winner, chicken dinner.
Before the update, I called [Outnumbered] buff in team chat. To alert other players we may need more, and to alert fight commanders that their guild might get some action. Now I call [Outnumbered] and the selfish pip-holes rage at me for ruining their +5.

First rule of WvW,
WvW isn’t fair.
But they did make a safe space for little butterflies. The Legendary Defenders will protect you.

I’ve been roaming WvW for 3 years now, and I’m only in the low 900’s rank. I get +2 for my rank. Most of my guildmates get +4, double my bonus. I still think this system is very fair.

Then add in the sociopolitically distasteful “pulling your own weight” diatribe
Since when did pulling your own weight become a bad thing? Are you seriously telling me that good work ethics are no longer desirable?

A particular phrase immediately comes to my mind: Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
It seems now that some folks got what they wished for, they still are not happy.

This has escalated fast… What level of crazy must you be at to continuously insist that other people include you in their group when they clearly don’t want to? Yeah they’re jerks, but trying to force someone to behave in a particular way that suits you is social justice on a whole new level. Just save 300Gs like I’m doing and put your money where your mouth is: If you don’t like how something’s done, try doing it yourself!
kittening millennials……
@Eater of Peeps, buying the game gives you access to wvw, it doesn’t hire a group of people for you to play with.
You want a zerg that plays on your terms, buy a tag, start leading. No one is obligated to spend their play time, on a game they also payed for, doing kitten for you.
There are two issues here.
One is whether or not a deaf person should be required to be in TS. Which is pretty silly, and isn’t really what anyone is saying.
The other is whether or not a commander has the right to choose the rules for their own squad.
If you’re on TC, just join one of my squads when I’m tagged up.
A commander is choosing to tag up. In their squad, it’s their rules. If the commander wants their squad in voice, that’s perfectly fine. You have a choice to join or not.
Not all voice comms are the same. Some are toxic, some aren’t. Please stop painting everyone with the same brush.
Play the way you want. Don’t join voice. But don’t be upset if that choice has consequences.
If you think voice doesn’t matter, then tag up and textmand. Set your own squad rules. That’s your choice, too.
If the commander wants their squad in TS, I have no choice. See the flaw in your logic? I have no choice. I cannot join, and that’s what I want, and their is no reason why I shouldn’t be allowed in to a non-full squad. I can’t play the I want. I am upset. Their rude choices made bad consequences for me and everyone else in TC that day. I can’t tag up – I don’t have 300 gold lying around. It’s not my choice. I don’t have it. I don’t want to lead a squad anyway. So now what? I go off to the corner to play some other mode or by myself? Well, how great for me and everyone else similarly situated.
So you should be allowed to play the way you want but the commander shouldn’t be allowed to play the way he wants? That sounds pretty kittening selfish.
It’s not discrimination. It is rewarding those who’ve played wvw for years. Why should new players, who might leave wvw altogether when they have their rewards, get the same amount of pips as those loyal to the game mode?
I welcome everyone new to wvw, and hope you find it fun, but you have to earn your ranks and rewards like the rest of us. Wvw has been neglected for ages, so it is past time for those of us playing this game mode to get something from it.
Please remember, someone else’s rank doesn’t take away from your fun and rewards. Stick with wvw and you’ll get there soon enough yourself!
Your post is the very essence of discrimination. You played WVW those years ago for what is was back then and you gained numerous hours of game-play and enjoyment. Giving you EXTRA rewards literally every 5 minute tick is too much. Rewarding extra for the content you enjoyed in the past is wrong. You have already had a head start on the achievement points and so giving you permanent boost in your pips is simply outlandish. .
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Hey i also dont like legendary armor in raids, fractal skins in fractals, that PvE players make more gold.
Also i hated when students studied before tests to get good grades when i just want good grades.
Also if your using the word discrimination like this wouldnt that mean that WvW players have been discriminated for like 5 years !!!!!!!!!
Take away account wide gold find, and magic find by an extension of that logic. It discriminates against new players. Nodes in home instances? Also a no no. Unfair.
100% this
Heaven forbid you deserve any kind of reward for spending your time achieving high ranks in WvW.
The irony is that it still takes 20 hours to max out tickets for the week at high ranks. Meanwhile in pve it takes 3 hours to max Magnetite Shards or w.e. in raids.
