I don’t think the T3 ascended skins were ever intended to entice new or casual players, but to reward dedicated, high-ranked veterans. During a recent Guild Chat, McKenna herself said that “it was supposed to be the prestige reward for WvW” for players with “crazy high ranks.”
I think some people in this thread just need to accept that these rewards are not meant for them and were never designed with them in mind. For everyone else, the T1 and T2 skins are easily obtainable with minimal long-term investment.
Don’t listen to the whining, ANet! The 2k requirement is reasonable and reflects the commitment of those who stuck with WvW during its bleakest years. Most of us are happy to have a prestigious, long-term goal to aim for finally!
Simple solution, participation drops to zero if you’re idle for more than 5 minutes or instantly drops to zero if you have determined buff on you. If you afk in spawn now, no loot. If you die and have to respawn, good, you deserve to be punished for being bad and dying in the first place, don’t die.
The bit about not dying or being afraid for their pixels getting hurt is one of the major complaints about pug pve’rs- as soon as there might be a fight of even numbers you can see them running backwards away from the fight practically before it has even begun, guaranteeing you will lose the fight.
If only they could devise a mechanism to impart negative rewards to those that don’t die because they ran away rather than face the enemy. Call it a ‘cowardice debuff’.:-)
The only problem with that would be it would screw over roamers even further. And we’ve been screwed more than Paris Hilton already after all the condi buff that have made small scale stuff unpleasant to say the least. Roamers that like to poke at zergs and snipe people, then retreat with a whole blob chasing 1 guy across the map, allowing your zerg to cap their stuff while they waste time chasing you instead of responding. I love doing that to people. A debuff for retreating from blobs would just be the final nail in the coffin for roaming.

I feel like every time I go to the bathroom someone is confirmation biasing me as an afk leecher.
Tbh idk why ppl get triggered about the expac incluiding the previous content like. Consider it as a extra thing in there not where the price comes from.
It would be nice if they increased the magic find cap beyond 300% from luck. I realize magic find isn’t the most useful thing in the game and I also realize there’s probably not that many people that are capped. But for those of us that are capped, the stacks of exotic luck build up pretty quick and it kind of sucks that there’s really nothing to do with it beyond a few guildhall upgrades.
If you are running on a Zerg, I agree that using TS is mandatory, so you do not happen to be in a zerg of 50/50 and have only 10 people in TS, and you are decimated in 10sec, because zerg has split At the time of Bomb / regrup / heal. You do not have to talk, just listen to what the Commander says.
I’m from Brazil, I barely speak English, I enter TS, I do not speak a word, but I understand the commander’s battle orders.
So TS in Zerg and Battles, in my point of view is mandatory or would not enter the Zerg / group.
Now if you are not with Zerg, continue as cool as you can and be happy.
Yes, I used the translator … kkkk
For me it’s a big problem that all the tickets are in the last chest.
Playing several sessions a week, and only able to get close to (not guaranteed to finish) the second chest, means I have to almost quit my job if I want to get more than 10 tickets a week. If I can just get 5 more tickets from the attempt of the second I can at least get somewhere….How do people do it.. you have to play 2 hours before you start earning pips, and then it takes ages to get somewhere once you start earning pips
I am on vacation so that’s how I do it but that last part is just ridiculous. You dont have to play for 2 hours before earning pips unless you try to gain them AFKing at spawn on logon. About two camps should be enough for T3, which is done in 10 minutes tops. If there is a zerg on the map you can often just go there and leech whatever they where doing to get T3 within the tick.
Ok I’m confused. People in this thread are complaining about how slow it is to gain tickets by afking at spawn and can get them quicker if they just participate?
… wat?
I was pointing out his claim that it take 2 hours before even starting to earning ticks. What are you reading?
Are we playing the same game?
my problem is that every round takes two hours. Within those two hours you need to reach tier 3 or higher. THEN you need to maintain the tier 3 or higher for the remainder period, and only THEN will ticks start coming in. I could start playing when there’s only 20 minutes left on the counter, but I don’t really have the luxury of deciding when I start playing. The problem is, you don’t start earning ticks until the second skirmish after entering WvW, and sometimes the time left in the first skirmish is all the time I have to play. I can get to tier 3 in 5-10 minutes, that’s no problem, but ticks don’t care, ticks don’t start until you’ve been actively playing during the transition of skirmish 1 to skirmish 2.How much I AFK or how much I am actively tier 6 won’t change the fact I need to play 1 to 2 hours before I can start earning rewards
Uhm, obviously we arent playing the same game since the skirmish is irrelevant to the pip gain. You reach T3 participation and then you get pips (max of what you can get regardless of T3-T6 participation) every 5 minutes. It doesnt matter if its 110 minute left in the skirmish or 10 minutes. You get pips every 5 minutes as long as participation is kept over T3, period.
1. Lake Doric: horrid hearts, annoying scaling on events. I’ve done the bare minimum here and can’t bear returning.
2. Dry Top: scramble like heck to finish events, then scramble like heck to finish more events for the big payoffs. There’s no let up and little value hanging around if you aren’t on an organized map.
3. The Old Lion’s Arch. It had character the way mold in the fridge does, if you let it grow.
4. (tie) Black Citadel & the Grove. Beautifully rendered, awful to navigate
I am not playing the victim. I have never played the victim. Though I was victimized.
^Lol @ this comment.
Excuse #532 on why I’m too lazy to tag….
You know that little arrow at the bottom right corner of everyone’s post? Yeah that quotes the post for you. You already repeat the same failed arguments often enough, you don’t need to copy/paste everything else in the thread too.
Although collections can be a nice idea I’d suggest just adding them to the laurel vendor like other LS 1 items. A lot easier.
Assuming this rate of obtaining tomes and shards doesn’t change, we badly need new ways to spend these items.
…or to just start deleting them.
Dunno why this is still a heated topic.
The commander is the one who made the squad. He decides who he lets in. If you want to be included, tag up yourself and stop whining.
Guardian is main force of the frontline, gives stab, needs to be in squad.
Warrior is main part of DPS, needs stab, needs to be in squad.
Necro is main part of DPS, needs stab, needs to be in squad.
Revenant is main part of support, needs stab, needs to be in squad.
Boonshare Mesmer is main part of support, needs stab, needs to be in squad.
D/F ele is main part of support, needs stab, needs to be in squad.
Staff Ele is main part of support and dps, but doesn’t need stab, doesn’t need to be in squad. There are range tags, who can work together with squad markers.
Druid is a healer or single target dps. Does not need stab to accomplish either of these roles. Doesn’t need to be in squad.
Engineer is support class, with lots of stealth. Doesn’t need stab to accomplish either of these things, and has bunch of personal stab from ElixB, dodges and Gyros if specs for those. Doesn’t need to be in squad.
Thief has singletarget dps and cleave with staff. Doesn’t need stab to gank people on the sides. Doesn’t need to be in squad.
If squad has free spots, then by all means fill them with the other classes. For druids and rangers, do remember that enemies will epidemic off your pet if you leave it open, which will get your allies killed. This is why most people don’t like rangers in squad, because they leave their pets up.
Medium armor classes by design offer less for zerg play than light and heavy. So they get left out. You can accomplish as much as you need to do outside of squad. And why do you need to be in squad anw as thief, engineer, ranger?
Also I think it’s worth mentioning that I am an engineer main, and I would never take a slot in squad from the mandatory classes, because I can do just as much outside of the squad. It’s a l2p issue.
When I’m leading and have less than 50 players in squad, everyone is welcome. When I have 50 players and a guardian wants to join, I’ll kick rangers, thieves and engineers. If I need more space, eles will go (unless heal melee). If people leave the squad and we have space again, ranger, thieves and engineers are welcome again. It’s very simple. And has nothing to do with personal grudges or bias. It’s just how the game works, and how I want to manage my squad.
Please try and understand that there isn’t any malice in commanders doing this. Everyone wants to win, and the most efficient way to manage a squad is to have an optimal setup. If a commander fails to convey this information to new players, then it’s the commanders fault, but more experiences players are expect to understand the basics.
I personally will always tell people that I’m going to kick them before doing so, and explain why. And exceptions can be made if proper reasons are given, or the individual shows great skill and effectiveness. Talk to your players and commanders, instead of making forum posts calling this unforgivable or messed up.
Finally I’ll again emphasize that you do not deserve a squad spot just because you exist. If someone decides to tag up, they will decide how they manage the squad. “I want to be included” is not good enough reason for 4 other people to go out of their way to provide you stab, resistance and healing in a party. Just like you have the freedom to follow any commander you choose, they have the freedom to make the squad look like they choose.

People choose badges of honour?! :o
I mean yeah there should be a consume all but still, what would anyone need with badges? I’m sitting on 7k+ with nothing to use them on even after spending however much was needed for the backpack.
It’s this sort of attitude right here, that keeps PvE players from trying out, and learning to enjoy WvW. I’ve been on too many maps where in team chat, people moan about PvE players in WvW.
But I oddly remember people on this very forum moaning about how DEAD WvW is, and how there needs to be some way to get people in and playing, but when that happens, people complain, has my head spinning.

Honestly, I’m hoping pve folks learn that Wvw is not a dirty word.
When you’re part of a really great team, you learn this is truly GW2 endgame, instead of waiting for an update.
Ignore the detractors. A true WvWer will be more than happy to show anyone new the ropes.
So much noise. All this emotional hubdub over past wrongs is nonsense.
The most important things are:
1. It rewards players for playing the actual game.
2 It is in line with comparable rewards across the game. Eg. There was a reason why 1 million yaks was off.
That being said, anet should not cave but consider these two things. Player entitlement either by disgruntled veterans or reward seekers should not play a factor.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
The only thing I want to see changed is for some of the pips needed to complete Wood tier to move to higher tiers.
Same amount of pips to get all the way to diamond, same number of tickets per week, but let casuals get their 10 tickets + loyalty bonus pip a little sooner so they can feel like they are making progress.
‘Cause they’re so much fun to get the drop on, and I don’t want all of them to leave >:)
Actually, i find the current implementation really good. The main reasons are :
- It puts a Long term goal to those players, that truly want to invest time to WvW.
- It puts a barrier on players who come only for the rewards in WvW. Once they get their rewards they disappear again.
- It actually rewards veterans who had invested time to WvW. Players who stayed loyal to WvW, even though the mode was neglected a bit in the past.
Peace
Umm… what? While it’s true that high ranks get bonus pips, there are other ways to receive bonus pips that don’t include rank.
I could be playing on a high ranked account to get +3 pips and get +1 for server placement during the tick for a total of +4 pips. A complete WvW noob could walk in and get +5 just for being outmanned, or more if he’s on a server that typically places higher with scores. It’s entirely possible that a noob can earn more just because of time/map/server.
As for the commander bonus, I’d like to see a PvEr tag up and flip a T3 garrison. You know, because we all do the same amount of work.
Get out of here with that nonsense. Lol
Ah, yes, how I missed pve entitlement!
Leave the pips system as is. Improvements:
1. commanders should get an extra pip per every 5 members of his squad; yes, up to a total of 10 extra pips just for commanding – if he is good enough to attract a full squad, he should be rewarded well. Reward our awesome leaders!
2. remove outnumbered pips. Or make it 1 pip or something. 5 pips is ridiculous and attracts stupid farms.
A discussion on how to approach vet players and rewards they didn’t have is something I have no opinion on.
Whether or not you have an opinion on this doesn’t make it any less relevant to the general aspect of “fairness” in the current system, or how the system was designed, and who was in mind when it was created and implemented.
To clarify my intended message: It is in my opinion that the current bonuses to the rate of acquisition are directly related to the lack of relevant rewards prior to the update.

A question to any of the people who think the pip system is unfair.
Do you think it would be fair, if I (someone who has never entered a raid before) was awarded 5 Legendary Insights per boss kill, so I can catch up to the people who have been raiding for a year?
-Sorrow’s Furnace-
I just asked my mom and she said that I matter.
Protest & Rally against this no skill meta anet has created.
power of the mists (the bonus from WvW that gave you a chance of extra gathers) has been disabled.
gathering boosters give extra while gathering (so 2 flax seeds when you gather instead of 1, not extra hits on a node)
| 61 Asura | 5 Charr | 2 Norn | 1 Human | 1 Sylvari |
if people leave wvw because it takes them so long to get the skins that will change nothing, then it’s great lol, sure this mode needs more players but I only care about the players that like wvw, willing to change gears and play to win the fights.
If you are a ranger or theif and not in Voice coms then you don’t get an invite from me lol
