I love how they added stealth without even having a counter skill but everything else have something that can counterbalance. Anet, you are so good at implementing new mechanic within your boundary…
Please share your inputs about stealth abilities in WvW and how it affects a lot of complexities when the skill becomes a huge disadvantage or upper hand between small zergs ang larger zergs.
I think they really need to add either a class that can reveal stealth units or add skills to some select existing characters.
It’s all part of anet’s plan to get rid of the hardcore wvw players so they can focus more on pve.

I’m probably in the minority, but I simply despise new content coming every two weeks. I didn’t even like when they were monthly changes, but at least I could kind of keep up. But, this every other week stuff is garbage.
I barely have time to get even some of the achievements, and certainly no time at all to spend the trophies I collected. And then, poof, they’re gone, along with any possible method of using them. And I have 3 more slots filled with what is probably garbage (but I can never know whether that’s true or not, can I?).
SLOW DOWN! Or at least slow down the endings. Giving us only 2 weeks to complete two whole achievement categories is absurd. It’s simply not fun any more.
Don’t get me wrong: The content is great. You guys are doing a marvelous job at content-creation. But, there’s simply no way to enjoy going through it all. I like to savor my games. I want to play some things more than once, to see what I missed. But, when there’s only 2 weeks to get it done and it takes the whole 2 weeks, there’s no room for savoring the game. Heck, some day I even want to try out PvP. But, at the pace new content comes out, there’s no chance.
I also think it’s way too fast. I wish they’d at least leave the content up for longer, so I could eventually, after a few months, get enough of the whateverthisweek’sthingis token to buy something good. But what irritates me most is the forced pace through the game’s story. I really liked the stories introducing Rox and Braham, but I wish I could’ve taken more time to enjoy that. I just rushed through it to try to get the title. I see dialogue with characters in new Living Story content saying “Oh, hey, it’s you again. That was awesome what we did last time, wasn’t it?” And I’m thinking, “Um, yeah, because I totally did all of that and feel like I really contributed a lot to those events…not…” It’s really jarring and is keeping me from enjoying the story. These are essentially new parts of the game’s story; there are new major characters and character development from them. I’m really liking the story that these writers are coming out with. It’s fun to see, and it’s SO much better than Trahearne’s Gary-Stue takeover of the Pact. Unfortunately, I have to read most of this new story on Wiki in order to keep up. I had to read up to know the name of Braham’s father (went through it too fast in-game) and to see Logan explicitly address how Anise was trying to keep him away from Jennah (they made it way too hard to get to the dungeon this time). That’s not the way a game’s story is supposed to go. I’m supposed to be able to keep up with story and character development at MY own pace, not the developers’. I have school, and work, and other more important real life things to play 2-3 hrs a day in order to get all of the story, achievements, items, etc before they just disappear.
And the general consensus there on reddit is that GW1 delivered better content, both quality and quantity wise.
Which to me is 100% true.
Four words, Doesn’t Hold At All.
Skip to the “****” if you don’t feel like reading the story behind my post.
I really wish there is something which can be done about Spies/etc in WvW. Today, I spent several hours upgrading Bay by running Yaks, retaking camps, and upgrading supply deliveries. The full 9 yards. I eventually got the desired upgraded walls, gates, and a waypoint. I then stopped there and let the supply build to 1000/1000 for siege/repairs when the inevitable attacks began once again. Our Bay was sitting pretty, ready to be defended.
Eventually, as one would expect, a well planned attack was made on our Bay. No problem, I called in for some reinforcements and some came. Definitely enough to hold out against the force at hand. That is until someone, I don’t know who, decided to start two upgrades right when the attack began. They started merchants and fortify keep —- which promptly drained our supply and we were left helpless. Eventually losing Bay.
I know this cannot be an isolated problem, and I know we have had spies in the past. But I feel like there can actually be something done to prevent this in the future.
“****” There should really be some way of stopping or pausing an upgrade to a keep/tower after it has begun. This would help prevent trolls/spies from causing grief before an impending attack. I know that this could also be abused, but I am sure safeguards may be able to be put in place.
At the very least, put a log on each of the purchased upgrades telling you the character who started the upgrade, so that everyone can be made aware.

The ANet that made GW is not the ANet that currently makes GW2.
Hell, you can even spot the difference of design philosophies between when they marketed GW2 and now. Such a 180 they did.
We already talk about the birthday present issue here : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Merged-Guild-Wars-2-Birthday-soon/first#post2626527
For PvE, you tend to only want one spirit (frost) but can also bring stone, and the build is power based, not condition based. As for WvW, you can run the standard PvP build but only for very small group fights as any zerging will result in the instant deaths of your spirits, leaving you incredibly vulnerable.
What do you dislike about gw2 and what kind of elements from other games that you would want to have in gw2
Im jumping in the bandwagon ive tried so much to not admit it but can we nerf the thieves already? i mean come on you even admit it this class is just so annoying you can evade everything deal decent amount of damage and run away so easy thats not even funny.
this might seem like rant but i cant express how annoying it is to be 3 shotted from nowhere and not be able to retaliate.
to be honest its bulls…..

This isnt about any specific class, just stealth in general and those few classes that have it.
Plain and simple. Having stealth should be the “reward”. What do I mean by this?
Well, usually, in most balanced games, having stealth is in and for itself pretty darn good. But here not only do you not put handicaps and ways to counter it, but encourage the unlimited use of it, and if you think that wasnt enough, give certain class for free one of the highest damage spell that has absolutely no risk and cant be countered not even with blocks (which doesnt reveal said class) but also give them boons while in stealth.
In most games having stealth is already awesome, to countrest this you have handicaps like :
- Slow movement speed
- Means to reveal them
- CC reveals them (roots do not count as CC)
- Damage Reveals them
- Certain damage threshold reveals them
- Chance to see them
- Damage penalty
- Cant heal or put boons for a bit
- Cant reset fights at will every 4 seconds, usually have to burn a PRETTY LENGHTY cooldown to get out of combat when things go awry.
- Take 100% more or even more damage while stealthed.
But here? Spam it, make it annoying, uncounterable, give them boons, free uncounterable damage spells, all that while having all the benefices that come from stealth.
I believe Stealth should be good enough, no need to give it so many good things on top of that while not having ANY way of dealing with it other than swinging your sword in the air (if you have a ranged weapon you are screwed) and wasting all CDs in the hope that something, just something will connect, and even if it does, you wont know, and it will for sure not be 8k damage, which would only be fair considering certain classes free access to it every 4 seconds.

A couple of things. These builds are kill or be killed. Can be a lot of fun. Fights won’t last long, so lowering your signet timer will rarely come into play during a fight. It is average at best in any 1v1 situation. If someone is prepared…and sees you coming, it is likely going to be a tough fight.
I use it more as a predator style. Roam around on the outside…pick a soft target and let er rip.
Have fun with it !
Thats why the best way to do a build is to try one out in game, in a real situation. This is the place where you will see what you use, what you dont, what you love, what you hate.
This is how i go for almost anything.
Thought this might make an interesting idea. Not sure entirely of how to implement it, but the idea could add some balance between smaller servers facing larger servers.
While Outnumbered, a player placing siege could have the option of allowing a friendly NPC to operate the siege weapon in place of the player. This would be exclusive to AC’s and ballista, though. (Maybe the flame rams too).
Maybe buff the damage an NPC can do with the siege, but limit the time the NPC can control the siege?
Food for thought.
WvW Coordinator
I’ve said it before, and I will repeat it here. We are aware of the problems with the WvW achievements and will be doing more to address them in the near future. Currently it is more complicated to solve the problems than I would like, which means we need to have a fully comprehensive solution before doing anything.
It’s simple really.
The player base has no obligation to you devs. They are not locked in a 2 year agreement with you. Most people who play this game bought the game within 3 months of release, they’ve had it for awhile now. They’ve got their moneys worth.
Now one of the main things that keeps this player base playing GW2 is WvW.
In other posts you make it sound like ‘blowouts’ aren’t that big a deal, like a growing pain. This isn’t the US economy or the Iraq War. You can’t tell us to ‘stay the course’. We’re gamers, and you’ve got competition for our attention right left front and center!
Every single blowout week costs a server players. because when those devout wvw players stop logging in for a week, what do you think they’re doing? Finding a new game.
When servers become depopulated, moral drops, more people quit.
You are setting in to motion a domino effect that could very well kill this game. Servers say they are all full, yet where are all the people? Perhaps those servers are full of accounts, but I wonder how many are active..?
Once a games population dies, they rarely ever bounce back. The mmo graveyard is rife with these very examples. Word to the wise, learn from the mistakes of the past. Don’t wind up in the MMO Graveyard.
Not sure how you come by the fact that GW2 was designed to be solo. Being able to go solo I think is something different entirely. If heroes where reintroduced everyone could say goodbye to doing dungeons with anyone apart from close friends. Build diversities wouldn’t increase because all skills available to your group now would be the same builds available to with heroes. So get a group of friends and try all those builds that your interested in seeing.
GW1 seems deeper because of the holy trinity, so everyone goes as far in their role as possible. GW2 can be as deep but I personally think Anet needs to make EVERYTHING more difficult to achieve this.
lol…
GW1 had a holy trinity?
Tell me, where are the tanks?
GW1 trinity was healer, support, and damage.
GW2 trinity is support, damage, and utility.
LoL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get out of my topic, GW1 had tanks, almost all PVE team play had tanks. They were core no really,, please leave…
Yep I agree, today I logged back into GW1 and thought “Wow I missed the old days”! GW2 has the potential to be better than GW1, but I think they are in too deep now to change and swarmed with hundreds of angry gamers that they dont know where to start… As a lot of people have said, im not sure if this has the staying power gw1 had.

Yeah, they can’t change GW2 anymore because it would just destroy it for the current players and the people that left might not come back that easly.
Heyo,
I’m kinda dissapointed to see how GW2 turned out. Why? Because they told everyone they would make the next level mmo. Instead they copied WoW. The only thing they nailed perfectly was the leveling system. But on top of that all they told they would put everything that was good in GW1 into GW2. (manifesto video)
GW1 was a next level mmo. I can’t seem to find any other mmo that is like that. It was unique. That’s why so many people loved GW1. If i play GW2, i miss the instanced areas, i miss that i only needed 20 levels. I miss the teamwork. I miss the drop system, the way how you get good looking items. I miss how PvP was. Balthazar points, the huge deck of skills. & omg! The dual professions :o (ow & GvG :oooooo,, GH !!! Alliances!!! i’m trippin here)
Looking to GW2 it looks way more like WoW rather than GW1. Like: traits = wow masteries, single classes with each their own set of skills. Trading post = auction house. Open world. Big bosses with high HP pools. Long time required to level. Mining, woodcutting, etc.. Lack of skills making you use the same skills over & over again like in wow.
Some new things that are new but i dont’ like: Paid waypoints, RNG, grind for items instead of challanging/hard content. Dodge to counter the dmg of EVERYTHING instead of taking the correct skills to counter your enemy.
The only next level things i found in GW2 was: leveling system although i rather have max level 20-30. & Jumping puzzles.
I would like to know from u guys that played GW1, what u think of GW2. But only comment if you did PvP alot or did speedclears or Solo farming. Cus i don’t want people commenting that played GW1 for like a few months and actually didn’t know what the game was about.
GW2 is bad and a waste of money….AKA why i havent played at all after max lvl and Zero content in pvp has been added since…..launch. have fun, but once ur max lvl LOL ul quit within a couple of weeks and never come back.
shoulda just named it Land of Tyria or somekitten. lets them keep the lore, lets ppl know it has nothing to do with gw1. tho i guess they wanted the gw1 playerbase buying it so it’s all fair game.
