I have to admit that would make a lot of sense and be a very appropriate time to start off the next season, or at least some kind of pre-LS patch. Think about it, what better way to introduce a new dragon than at the very festival that celebrates us defeating another dragon.
It would also be very entertaining if said festival was party crashed by a champion of the newly awakened dragon.
Doubt it’s going to happen though…
Desolation is a superior PVE server. This is known.
Fixed it for you…
Braham’s a good and likely tip if it’s not going to be us. Or maybe the Hoelbrak cleaning lady chips it with her broom in the wee after hours when everyone else has gone away and she’s shutting down shop for the evening.
Please give us a keyring…
If a company has to completely neglect its existing customers because its reaching for a new market with new customers, I doubt that company is capable to handle that at all.
Oh and that “you will see, its sooooooooo excitiiiiiing…someday, somewhere, something, something!!!” PR line is getting really old.
It may have worked after release, not 2 years after with that proven record of ‘exiting content’.
Any updates on this month’s patch?

The developers are heads-down working on the future content releases. We are also in the middle of launching the game in China. Launching a game in a new country is kind of a big deal. Because of the team’s focus on game development, they are not able to dedicate as much time out of their workday to posting on the forums. While they might have time to read the forums, they don’t necessarily have time to engage in discussion.
I know it’s hard to be patient in this down time between Living World seasons, but please bear with us. As much as you’re craving new content to play, the team is dying for you to play it.
Unfortunately, I can’t give you any information about future content, whether it’s plot spoilers or timeline. I can say that, as a player, I am very excited about the next season, and I cannot wait to see what you all think about it.
Please know that your feedback continues to be important, our devs are still reading (though they may not have time to respond), and we sincerely appreciate your support and you sharing all your thoughts with us (critical or otherwise).

Many players will find this topic uneccesary, irrelevant, or a threat to your income because you make a ton selling precursors you are lucky enough to forge but I don’t care. I have been playing GW2 since early access (I was in beta too, but that doesn’t count) and I have forged 1000s of weapons, done countless dungeons, WvW, and events without a single precursor drop.
I feel like my account has a hex on it, some quirk in the coding that prevents nice things from being added to my loot table and I’m tired of it. It’s time to end the nonsensical RNG where legendary precursors are concerned.
Unlucky since launch, RNG isn’t random

It’s easier to show then explain.
First thing is to precast Shield of Wrath. After that switch to GS, and do Leap of Faith. While in Leap of Faith, Judge’s Intervention to target. Once you’re on target you want to activate Smite Condition and Virtue of Justice. Symbol of Wrath, followed by Binding Blade. If they try to run or move then you use the pull. If not, you let it tick and follow it with Whirling Wrath. However people do it many different ways, it really depends on the situation.
I’ll upload a quick video in a bit!
Here’s a quick video of what I explained above. Keep in mind you have to adapt to the situation, so the rotation isn’t always going to be the same. This just gives you a basic idea.

So we get 3 weapons on that track that cost way more tokens than armor pieces. But the end big reward is only one piece of armor? That has to be a bug.

News Flash
Fanboys, GW2 is nowhere near as good as it gets.
Their story is terrible. SWTOR’s 1-50 class stories roflstomp the crap out of GW2.
Their PvP is terrible. MOBAs are the best, Smite, SWTOR, FFXIV, WoW are better.
Their PvE is terrible. FFXIV, WoW, SWTOR, even Rift is better.
Their RvR still doesn’t hold a candle to Dark Age of Camelot.
Their Event system is buggy and terrible. FFXIV does it better, way better.
You paid 50 bucks one time for the game.
You get what you pay for.
It’s good enough to keep you coming back to these forums. =)
Can’t… I don’t play anymore nor have the desire to get rid of 400 glory boosters i got…
Cool story brah, but you really did not have to take the time to come tell us that you quit. Reminds me of people that graduated from H.S but still go back in their lettered jacket.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
anyone else hate this temporary content feature as much as i do?
What do you call a Sylvari with all Cultural armor?

… and so it came to pass, that fateful day when Grand Marshall Trahearne himself was captured by the remnants of the forces of Zhaitan. In their great vengeance they cast him, bound and alive, into the Bottomless Pit of Endless Despair. They say to this very day travelers that have ventured near the pit can still here his final words… “This well won’t end!”
Dear all,
I can not understand why you are so stressed about a simple permanent mining pick…
Come on, is this offer such a game breaker?!
Almost 400 replies and tens of thousands of words over such a triviality…
Actually I think the offer is a gem rip off. With that amount of gems you can buy gold to buy many, many sprockets…
MMO’s player communities never cease to amaze me…LoL.

In order to complete these achievements you have to succeed the Warden event (the entire event up on the platforms) without being hit by the Marionette. If you are hit, you don’t get it. If you fail the event, you don’t get it. Stay sharp and break that chain and you’ll have it.
So..in order to get what should be simple achievements, we have to not only complete the event without taking any damage from the Marionette while also dealing with the Champion Boss on our platform, but also rely on the other four groups to not fail their events, otherwise we get no credit what so ever.
…Oh sweet mother of poorly thought out achievements. Welp, guess I’ll be doing the Daily for the LS each day in order to get enough to credit to finish the meta.
Just tried the wurm boss. We had a full map and we weren’t even close.
I think that’s great. Because we all know we are still just trying to figure out how it all works.
If you can figure it all out in a few hours, it’s dull within a few days.
It might end up truly being too difficult, but it’s too soon to make that call IMO.
Fun event too… well, except for the visual spam making it hard to see anything, as usual.
mmmm Dondarrion I like that- I like that a lot
Here is the proposal I believe we are making, please discuss and let me know if anything should be added or removed. Note many of us have read the thread internally and thus there has already been valuable impact.
Our Horizontal Progression Proposal
The Reward and Associated Journey
— Sociopolitical Diversification: Player housing (Customizable from rewards gained in the open world), Guild Halls (Customizable from mass play rewards) and Map Wide Meta events unlocked through Order progression (Leading to both individual and group rewards such as titles and skins)
— Role Diversification: ‘Grail Quest’ (Personal rights of passage) style adventures through the open world (testing the player in combat, discovery, and puzzle solving) which others can engage in once the activities are activated which could reward the Hero with New skills/traits, new weapons, access to inaccessible existing weapons, and infusions.
— Hero Recognition (Reward) is a by product of the above two types of Horizontal Progression leading to Unique Skins, Titles, Rewards, followers and NPC reactions/opportunities based on the players individual feats in the world of Tyria regardless of how he/she chooses to play the game.
Global Rule Proposal governing the above:
- Where possible use the above design paradigm to reinforce and evolve the existing world.
- Players should be able to have multiple methods of achieving ‘Grail Quests’, rather than a section of the journey being based on Jumping Puzzles and that alone for example.
-A reworked (cleaner) version of Signet of Capture would work very well for Role Diversification.
- Sub-classes will be discussed again in a CDI once Arena finishes its current balance work in regard to roles.
- QOL features such as a wardrobe should support this global design.
- QOL: More customization options regarding our armor and weapons. (Things that came up in this regard were: pattern dyes, texture options (other types of wood and different metal polishes), customizeable features like long sleeves vs short sleeves, emblem design.
Once we have discussed the proposal and the thread reaches conclusion we will sticky it and move onto CDI Process Evolution Phase 2.
Note this is the formulation of a collaborative proposal for discussion. Once the proposal is finalized it will be discussed internally. However there will be no promise of associated actions or schedule.
Thank you all so much for your hard work and your passion toward making GW2 awesome. This has been a really good CDI and I want to thank you on behalf of Arena for caring so much about the world we love.
Here is a write up about the current CDI from Anatoli at Massively:

Thanks folks lots of really great ideas, concepts and discussion here!
It has been a great read and its been nice to see people play off of each other’s ideas and to go back and refine their own ideas in the face of thoughtful, constructive criticism.
I think the biggest thing I was trying to get at with my question is: what should the journey towards an alternative system of horizontal progression really be like?
Oh… I think that can be summed up easily …
Fun.
Or at least not un-fun.
Folks talked a lot about different ways you could say acquire skills other than the current system, but that’s really more a change to an existing skill acquisition system, as opposed to the journey of unlocking something like an advanced profession (or masteries) as some of you discussed.
Say for example, we decided to allow your profession to gain an additional mastery as Nike and Chuggs in particular discussed above. I think we have a lot of fun ideas in here for the journey unlock specific aspects of that mastery, but what if you first had to unlock the core “mastery” track, which then allowed you collect the smaller components? What kind of experience do you think would be compelling here as an over-all journey?
Then I’d have to ask myself is wanting to try out a new Mastery I’m interested in on Tequatl’s face tonight with the guild make the journey pleasant or frustrating?
While there’s an obvious Developer-desire to have the design work they’ve done prompt as many hours of play as possible, its easy to go too far and turn the journey into drudgery and grind. Looks at ascended armor – one set of skins and some minutely bigger numbers trying to encourage us to gather and farm for weeks. For many it was too little butter scrapped over far too much toast.
Can folks think of anything else that’s a bit more outside the box for something bigger?
I did a quick search of the thread so I’m 99% certain no one has brought up the idea that’s the most inside-the-box.
Paid Expansion.
No one who loves this game can be unaware that there is significant competition lurking just around the corner. I for one would like it that when my fellow gamer goes into the store and starts puzzling over how to spend his gaming dollars that there be a box with the GW2 logo on sitting in a place-of-prominence on the shelf. A box that isn’t 18 months old… A reminder to lapsed players and an enticement to new Tyrian heroes.
Noting the usual concerns of splitting up your playerbase into haves and have-nots, maybe we could see a hybrid expansion… Consider a rich set of new character options: 3 new weapons per profession, 12 new skills per class including 3 elites, the full array of an Adept, Master, and Grandmaster trait added to all 5 Trait Lines of all 8 professions (120 in all). And the OPTIONS to gain all that by working through the journeys offered by 24 new Masters (3 per profession) or the ability to BUY a master unlock code off a store shelf physical or virtual.
There is nothing wrong with the people who don’t give a skritts’ bumm about story and journey and just want to take to the Mists in open war or have a good time with their guildmates bashing Tequatl’s face with the new Masteries. Tonight. Immediately. Now. For a modest real-world fee. And nothing prevents them from coming back and playing through those journeys later – the content is still there welcoming them to the challenge.
(or is that just too Pay to Win?)
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
I’ll make Anet my god, if they bringing back Cantha!!
Let me offer a more radical idea for brainstorming purposes:
What if the current classes themselves were to be subclasses of something broader as well?
Example:
BASE CLASS TYPE
- Sorceror
TIER 1 SUB-CLASSES
- Elementalist
- Mesmer
- Necromancer
TIER 2 SUB-CLASSES (Elementalist used as an example)
- Elemental Scholar
- Elemental Artist
- Elemental Soldier
TIER 3 SUB-CLASSES
- Elemental Scholar: Pyromancer, Aeromancer, Aquamancer, Frostmancer, Geomancer;
- Elemental Artist: Elemental Dancer, Arcanist, Glyphmancer, Auramancer;
- Elemental Soldier: Conjurer, Tempest, etc.
BASE CLASS TYPE – Determines your base armor type.
TIER 1 – Determines your base stats, skillset and mechanics.
TIER 2 – Further specializes your base stats, enhances your mechanics and unlocks specific weapon trait boosts.
TIER 3 – Defines unique playstyles based on specialization.
Traits would expand the higher the subclass tier
Tier “0” – A sorceror could switch between any spellcaster class in GW2 (necro, ele, mesmer). No need to create an alt.
Tier 1 – A single “generalist” trait line would be available.
Tier 2 – Would unlock a new trait line for the more specialized subclass.
Tier 3 – Would unlock a third trait line for an even more specialized/ advanced subclass.
Assuming an Elementalist (Tier I) – Battlemage (Tier II) – Conjurer (Tier III)
Trait lines unlocked:
- Elemental Mastery (Several traits and skills available to all elementalists)
- Battlemage Traitline (Several enhancements, traits and skills for melee range combat).
- Conjurer Traitline (Enhancements focused around conjure weapons);
But perhaps it would make more sense as a trait tree:
Sorceror
- Elementalist
— Scholar
—— Pyromancer
—— etc
— Artist
—— Attunning Dancer
—— etc
— Battlemage
—— Conjurer
—— etc

To be honest, I don’t see why the Asian market wouldn’t feel honoured that a game had a huge part of its world inspired by Asian themes, in addition to Western and African. You’d think they would feel discriminated if “their” culture was the only one left out…
You sorely underestimate how prideful Asians can be and how nationalistic, racist, and prejudiced they can be.
Also keep in mind the way Cantha is ultimately portrayed: a Japanese-style monastery island, a massive megalopolis that has a tiny, well-developed district with the rest of the city being mile-high slums (remember: Kowloon was a thing and Cantha’s slums are very well-influenced by it, down to the gangs running the streets), and wilderness with two non-Asian groups tussling for control of resources: the Greco-Roman Luxons and the Germanic Kurzicks. And it’s known that eventually these two factions are unified under Kisu’s rule, which means Cantha isn’t even pure Asian anymore!
Of course, the only people who find this offensive are the old farts who’ll belly-up in the next 10 or 20 years…
(currently leveling: a Mesmer, an Engineer, and a Guardian)
Update!
It’s been a while, but I have kept improving this slowly in all these months. I’ll leave all the old information there as a reminder/archive, but the new one is inside the link to the official wiki below. So this is it, my first expansion theorycrafting idea, fully fleshed out, “2.0”. I hope you have fun reading it, I had a lot building it, writing it in a readable form and then compiling it in wiki-format with pictures and all. And be warned, when I say long, I mean it for real.
First expansion theorycrafting: Jormag, Tengu and Far Shiverpeaks 2.0
It’s a pretty huge piece of text, so I probably made mistakes somewhere. I welcome all kinds of constructive criticism around it. The lines/model of this theorycrafting is what I would like to see from an expansion, and what I think would be the best way to implement it. The setting? I think it’s the logical next step, but story can be written to make any scenario viable.

Did I mention Order-based unique dyes were hella sexy?
Well they are.
But I think another thing I’d like to see as a reward for advancing with your chosen Order is a vendor at each HQ that sells 3-4 of the existing colors of dyes for karma. However, buying them doesn’t give you a bottle to click – it directly unlocks it in that character’s dye panel.
No using them in the Mystic Forge, no flooding the market with them – the reason they are there is to let that specific character represent their Order by always having the Order’s preferred colors in their palette.
This simple benefit that could be granted much earlier in the course of ranking up in your Order. Quite separate from those wonderful unique dyes you get towards the end of the journey.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
Haha omg. Why are all the worst characters Sylvari!? Hahaha.
….and all the best ones are Asura
But yeah please don’t put Trahearne into LS I will do it even less than I do now.
Retire him to Southsun where he can relax on the beach and get eaten by Karka.
There are bad characters of all races. Also we have Sieran, who is the best character. So what now?
Whoa wasn’t meaning to upset you.
I love Sieran. But I would challenge you to find a bad Asura. Heh.
All of them? …do I have to pick only one? Asura and Quaggans need to be extinct
+1
Asurans = Goblins/Orcs in other games.
Quaggans = just plain stupid Seamonkeys
