i don’t get it, what is this about?

As far as I can tell the OP was pushing something, there’s a reference to steering in the middle of it all so probably on a path or something.
Anyway, this must have been uphill, as it sounds like they had a problem and it rolled back.

Then there’s the not asking for compensation but suggesting money as compensation bit. I presume whatever rolled back went over his/her foot or something as hurt is mentioned. Hopefully not too squashed.

Whatever the OP was pushing must have been pretty advanced technologically, as it seems to have warped a few hours into a staggering amount of lifetime, most of it in fact by the sheer angst portrayed.
Or maybe the hurt from the squashed foot made it seem longer.

Anyway that’s about it, hope that helps.

Just to comment, There are 58 armor sets in this game. 7 are gemstore
List of armor sets

Transmutation charges are free and available in game if you’re willing to do what’s needed. I have about 70 currently and haven’t ever bought even one from the gemstore.

The black lion chests are goody bags. They are a random selection of low value items and the very rare high value items. If you don’t like them then don’t buy keys. Never buy items you aren’t satisfied with.

Costumes are released through the gem store, true. However imo that’s a valid cosmetic item to have. They put them in there in place of the armor that they no longer put in the gemstore.

The Lving Story is free to everyone who bothered to spend one minute logging in every couple of weeks. That’s hardly an onerous burden if you’re playing the game. Of course you’ll need to buy the expansion if you want to play the Season 3 living story. How else can people get to new maps where the instances are located?

Costumes are indeed a valid cosmetic item in the gemstore. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not the fact that costumes are being sold in the gemstore…. it’s the fact that nearly all costumes/armor is released through the gemstore and not in-game. We’ve had a couple new armor pieces. And for those, I am grateful. But we’ve received little in the way of new armor that we can actually get in-game. You have to go through the gemstore. And I’m not talking about armor that was released at the start of GW2.

If you have trans-stones, congrats. But getting them is tedious if you’re a casual player and you’re pretty much forced to buy them if you want to transmute an entire armor set.

If you want achievement points because weapons/armor is locked behind chests, you either buy a ton of Black Lion Chest keys, or you farm for 7000+ hours for keys. That’s pay to progress if I’ve ever seen it. I don’t think I made myself entirely clear on this point. It’s not the Black Lion Chests that bother me. It’s the fact that achievements were so obviously locked behind a gem purchase.

And finally – for people with demanding jobs, it’s difficult to log into the game consistently. I have time when I have time. Anet has shown that they can bring back the Living Story as a playable instance, yet chooses to lock that behind a pay-wall as well. It sure seems like everything I want to do or obtain in this game is locked behind some wall of payment.

The last armor that was released in the gemstore was April 15, 2014. That was over 2 years ago. Since then we’ve had Carapace/Luminescent, Bladed, Leystone, Hero, and Glorious Hero as well as the re-release of 2 armors that have been missing for several years. Now granted that’s not a lot but complaining about gemstore armor when we haven’t had any new gemstore armor in over 2 years is complaining about an old system that’s long gone and over with.

If you have trans-stones, congrats. But getting them is tedious if you’re a casual player and you’re pretty much forced to buy them if you want to transmute an entire armor set.
I’m a casual player. Do your PvP dailies in a PvP daily room run by and for PvE players and you’ll get your T charges. That’s where I get mine and it takes me 8 minutes or less a day to do this.

And finally – for people with demanding jobs, it’s difficult to log into the game consistently.
All that’s required for a free Living Story is to log on once every two week. You don’t even have to play. You can push the logon button, select a character, appear in game, log out. That’s it. Set a timer of some sort if you’re not going to log on to play for weeks on end to remind you to log on for this.

If you want achievement points because weapons/armor is locked behind chests, you either buy a ton of Black Lion Chest keys, or you farm for 7000+ hours for keys.
why are you even concerned about these points? This is for the high octane achievement hunters with a gazillion achievement points who want that one more point. You can’t even log on often enough to get the Living Story for free. Why don’t you go for the other achievement points and not worry about these few. These are points designed for the hard core achievement point hunters, not for people who only play occasionally. You should have lots of other free achievement points you can be looking to get, not these that aren’t designed for the casual player.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Bloodstone Crazed Creatures Event

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vayne.8563

Vayne.8563

The content is new. There’s no reason anyone has to do every creature in one night. Ther’s no real reason to do every creature at all, unless you have absolutely nothing else to do or you’re so crazy about achievement points that you MUST do this event.

If you want the reward for the event, do the event, and take your time. If you don’t want the reward for the event ignore it.

In a week’s time the schedules will be down pat, the moa will be buffed (the only what that dies slow) and people will not even remember these comments.

But you know, it’s day one of a new series of events. Why does everyone feel they have to get everything done on day one and why do they make it sound like the end of the world when they can’t?

That said, I got it all done today anyway. lol

Ruined Game

Anet has ruined this game for me. Its no longer fun or competitive for me. That’s why some players left, along with some of the pvp community. I think it’s dying, and I think you people at Anet are so ignorant, that you ignore what I think is the issue, this game will keep dying. Good luck Guild Wars 2, this was a great game, not anymore.

Oh and btw I wont even bother to tell you what I think the issue is or how I think you can fix it!

There you are, I fixed it for you.

The masteries catch up game.

in Living World

Posted by: Rognik.2579

Rognik.2579

I’ve been playing Gw2 since open beta, I had all the masteries I cared to obtain within a month of HoT release. Note, not all the masteries, just the ones I cared to get. I don’t need to play catchup. Other people will and in my opinion, the mastery system and what it did to Gw2 was the single worst MMO experience I’ve ever had even though I was using boosters and playing intelligently. It was still a soul crushing, boring, near game and deal breaking chore compared to vanilla.

Forgive me if I’m missing the point, but are you just championing a cause which doesn’t affect you? I understand if you feel it’s unfair to new players, but I haven’t seen any new players posting around here that they had a lot of problems getting around Bloodstone Fen. I did see the odd comment of “I went in and didn’t have gliding. lol” and the like, but they didn’t seem upset, more amused that they weren’t prepared for the setting.

Should there have been a warning before starting up the season that masteries will be needed? Maybe, but perhaps that’s where needing to buy HoT comes in. What’s the big new thing that came with the expansion, besides just new maps and story? Masteries. And basic gliding is the very first one. As many people have said, short of updraft and bouncing mushrooms (which are all required unlocks in HoT story), you don’t really need the other masteries.

I get that you don’t enjoy the mastery system, but can you keep your complaints to those that are actually obstacles, rather than theoretic ones with little to no evidence? Because otherwise you’re just making a lot of noise and everyone is getting upset over something that is not going to change. Masteries are here, and we’re going to have to deal with them, like it or not.

There should be dailies on all maps.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ekarat.1085

ekarat.1085

1) If there are dailies on every map with the same rewards, then there is no reason to go to less desirable maps unless you’ve done all the dailies on the maps you like already and still are doing dailies. As you progress to maps you like less and less, you are also getting sick of doing the dailies, so it is set up to go until you burn out.

2) If dailies give AP, then people will feel obligated to do them all, so burnout.

3) If you make them for too specific things, then people will complain that they can’t do it their way.

4) If you do different rewards for each map (but no AP), and advertise which rewards are for which map, and let people do whichever activity they want, then you get the current map rewards system.

I think this problem has already been solved.

There should be dailies on all maps.

Living World 3 vs Raid Narrative

in Living World

Posted by: Jerus.4350

Jerus.4350

It is about semantics.

They aren’t part of living story because living story is developed by another team within ArenaNet -

But once you look at it from the player perspective, that proves to be false. The game world and story should be seemless, regardless of who at Anet developed them.

We’ll see for sure next week, but it really does seem that our first introduction to one of the LS3 antagonists and conflicts were definitely introduced through the raids to a small percentage of players.

Semantics? So it is just nitpicking.

Why does it matter if the antagonists were introduced with raids as long as you get the full story through the LS? Because it twists your jimmies? That’s hardly something for the ANet staff to be overly concerned about, there’s always going to be overly passionate people that are upset about something they do (or didn’t do).

And, it wasn’t released to a small percentage of players, it was released in raids, which is open to everyone, just only a small percentage of players have risen to that task.

Question regarding LW Season 1

in Living World

Posted by: Aenaos.8160

Aenaos.8160

The truth is,even if they scaled down the events and converted them to single player instances,it won’t be anything like LW s1 was.

The events occurred in ‘real time’,each instalment lasted for a couple of weeks, and as the events unfolded the world of the game changed around us.
Everything, even the annual festivals, was interwoven to the LW.
And it was heavily open world, multi tiered raid content.
Seasons 2 and 3,although they retain the naming of LW,they are not the same.
They are single player focused, with an option for grouping, and nowhere near as grand or complicated as season 1.

What you are asking for, is the equivalent of a single player instance for the DS raid.
And s1 was full of such raids.
Even if they built it,it wouldn’t be the same.

You are going to solo run the Flame and Frost and Aether Blade dungeons, you are going to make the Tower of Nightmares and the Marionette and the Attack in LA and the Battle for LA,and all the other zone wide raids, solo instances, and what about Dragon Bash and the Zephyrites festivals, there were significant events related to the story that took part there.
And what about the voting, you are going to vote for what, the leader is already elected, even you you vote for Evon it won’t matter.
And the list goes on.

They should focus of creating a better, lengthier and more detailed recap, and maybe add some new s1 related fractals.

As for why they did it that way,I’m glad they did.
It’s the most innovative they ever got and probably will ever be,and it was a nice change from the set in stone worlds of all the other MMOs out there.

ArenaNet dying from inside??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Behellagh.1468

Behellagh.1468

I think you need to look at it with a healthy dose of perspective. A.Net is not a publicly traded company tasked with maximizing return on equity to shareholders. It’s a private company owned by millionaire veterans of the game industry that want to run a company that they like working at – and if that resembles a kindergarten classroom of passionate artists and designers doing what they love, then so be it.

Except ArenaNet is wholly owned by a holding company that is wholly owned by a publicly traded company. I’m sure they got a really good deal from the point of view of control and retained IP ownership when they sold themselves to NCSOFT in 2002 but they are assuredly NOT privately owned. And while they don’t answer directly to shareholders, they will be reminded that the game needs to either maintain or grow its player base as well as be profitable at least on paper, at some minimal level, to keep those at the mothership in Seoul happy.

Other than that point I agree with you. They are developing entertainment, not an office application. It’s not just programming, it’s story and scripting and 3D Models and animation and music and foley and voice overs. It’s developing tools that non-programmers can use to build events and create AI (http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1021848/Building-a-Better-Centaur-AI). And sometimes in this process what gets created turns out not to be fun to play and parts or all will be scraped to go in a different direction. That’s bound to tick some off, having weeks or even months of work set aside.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

Similar boat-decided to come back to pass the time till Revelation is in beta.
1-Community was never mature-it’s pretty much the same how I left it; pretentious virtue signalling, petty squabbles over which group ‘owns’ a map, white knights, absolutely juvenile conversations (homosexual remarks to show how hip and progressive they are, asinine one liners about the political situation in America, infantile discussions about how various players want to have sex with other players to show they know what sex is)…I turn map chat off. Idk how anyone over the age of 13 could find it an enjoyable experience.
2-This was the biggest shock….MASSIVE inflation from when I left it about a year or so ago; been stable this past week at least….I guess. Had gold sellers spam me three times in the past week so it’s not bad at all.
3-I don’t remember what happened around the time it invalidated my purchase, went f2p and gave an ugly suit to say ‘thanks sucker’, but Triple trouble, Teq and Shatterer are fun. The challenge is less individual and more about having a large group of people doing what needs to be done. As you can imagine I didn’t re-buy the base game + 4 maps so I didn’t buy HoT…..maybe if another mmorpg doesn’t come along when it’s priced what it’s worth from all accounts (maybe $20), but I haven’t seen any HoT specific content outside of raids being added. Given your point of concern is challenging content, the raids might be right up your alley at least.
4-Have zero interest; completely ignorant on this.
5-Game seems to run mostly fine with odd lag spike or something. It feels like lag but my ping is consistently below 80 so idk what’s up with that.
6-Yes-it always has been and always will be I’m afraid. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s in the archaic design of mmorpgs rather than a fault of this game in particular-they are built with the expectation that players play for months on end…..that’s patently kittened and unrealistic. So rather than making the act of playing the game fun, like single player games, mmorpgs put you through a long kitten grind to get pretty items-that’s the formula and none have dared deviate from it.
7-For me, when I turn off map chat, am not exposed to the wretched story telling (finished the story and didn’t buy HoT), lower my expectations from doing things for have fun to doing things to buy other things to do the same things in order to buy other things and the subsequent observation of my gold increasing, picking up the last couple of AP needed to get the grand/massive chest or w/e and doing these revamped bosses….I can say that it’s fun enough. I’m 99% sure I’ll leave once I get that chest though, regardless of whether or not Revelation is in closed beta.

I know this last one sounds negative but it’s not really…it’s weird. It’s not really to say ‘the game is bad’ but more like ’there’s fun to be had if you’re like me and ignore these elements’. Or perhaps it’s more like, if you don’t go in expecting a fun time you’ll go ‘Hmm….well it’s better than I expected. It’s not all that bad’. Yes, it’s the latter.

Obviously the last one is a person by person basis and the typical responses you’ll get are ‘no it’s not fun’, ‘yes it’s fun-it’s the best thing since sliced bread’ and ’it’s ok but I’m waiting on update x to see where they go with it’.

Why even bother asking though? I for one just reinstalled the game and started playing. White knights will say the game is great, unhappy customers will state the issues they have with it…assuming they’re still even hanging around.

Is everyone who likes the game a “white knight”?

It was never about people catching up. For those who remember it was about those at the top of the leader board coming on forums everyday crying how Anet is forcing them to farm AP 25 hours a day and they couldn’t enjoy the game because Anet was holding them hostage and demanding they do the dailies or else.

And yes the word FORCED to do dailies was used 100’s of times.

Hall of Monumental Frustration.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gendou.9620

Gendou.9620

Lets get something very clear here, the hall of monuments system was not made to honor anyone who bought GW1 as a sort of pay-to-acquire extra gear. Arenanet clearly stated the hall of monuments was implemented for long time veterans who achieved a long list of titles, mini-pets, special weapons etc within the GW1 game. This was never intended to apply to anyone who just owned the game and rarely played. It was to reward players who dedicated themselves both time-wise AND money-wise to the growth of guild wars following into the second game.

You are confused? Well then the feature wasn’t made for you is the obvious answer. I myself spent thousands of hours in guild wars 1 and feel great with the rewards I got, and I am glad Arenanet made a feature to appreciate players such as myself that stuck with them through all the years and success they achieved. Why should you be entitled to rewards without any work put in? People worked hard to get these rewards, so either get over it or put in the time to get them yourself(Don’t expect anything from delving in for a week or two; players like me spent YEARS, they are called “achievements” for a reason).

Cosmic Mining Tool

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: STIHL.2489

STIHL.2489

Unfortunately the watchwork mining pick is still too valuable to justify the purchase of any other unlimited mining tool. Based on the drop rate and current market value of sprockets, the watchwork pick is worth an extra 67 copper per swing on average.

So I won’t be buying any more mining tools unless anet either nerfs the watchwork pick, or extends the functionality to all unlimited mining tools.

I would love for Anet to extend the functionality of the other Unlimited Tools.

I have full sets of the Molten, Flutes, Mad Scientist, R-Tron, as well as a few odds and ends (Jack-in-the-Box Scythe, Dreamcleaver Logging Axe) , and 3 Watchwork picks on top of that.

Always felt that the Unlimited should give a little something more then a standard, not game breaking or anything, but, just something a bit more, and themed to what they are.

For Example:
Tireless Minions could drop Mad King related stuff.

  • Pick has a Chance to reward Cheap Plastic Fangs
  • Harvester has a Chance to reward a Chattering Skull
  • Logging Axe has a chance to reward a Nougat Center

R-Tron Items Drop things Related to Wintersday IE:

  • Pick has a chance to reward “Ugly Wool Hat”
  • Scythe has a chance to reward “Ugly Wool Sweater”
  • Axe has a chance to reward “Ugly Wool Socks”

None of this would be game breaking to put in either.

I am sure the other picks and items could be themed as well, or maybe even add in some new junk to from some of them to collect to make something else we might want, or have them drop Dungeon Tokens, or something else equally plentiful.

IE:

Molten harvesting set.

  • Pick – has a chance for Citadel of Flame token.
  • Scythe – has a Chance for either CoF or SE token (Random 50% of either)
  • Axe – has a chance for Sorrow’s Embrace token

I mean, think about it, it takes a while to collect anything through the picks so, it’s not like a chance at a single dungeon token, is going to break the game. You can’t even sell them, so, it’s not like it will disrupt the economy either.

I mean, this is just an idea, but, I would love to see something along these lines bring put in, just so that these items game a little something more but not too much to make them needed.
