Just want to quickly add for those who missed it, we’ll be covering the answers to the bulk of the questions in this thread in the blogs over the next two days after today.
We’ll also continue to monitor and adapt the megaserver system once it’s fully enabled to ensure it provides the best experience possible, so once you’ve seen it in action please make sure to leave comments, feedback, and suggestions as always!
my favorite note about megaservers:
+225% players on a single map copy. so 125 (i base this on marionette fight because i forgot the actual population limit per map copy) times 2.25 = 281 + 125 = 406 players per map copy now. sure, the number could be bigger, but 400 + players per map is awesome! TEQ and the WURM might finally be accessable to the average and / or casual player now.
EDIT: i really hope i understand that note correctly… :/

*Spoilers* Mordremoth final battle leaked.

Here is the final Mordremoth fight in comic form.
This clearly isn’t just me pasting pictures and text over an old comic of Zhaitan that I made weeks ago.

I’d love to see more sets like the original Mesmer’s outfits. Especially the Dilettante, and Rogue.
…Jumpin Jehosaphat… I’d eat tacks, to have a back the original Rogue outfit.
Actually some pants would be nice right about now… also something other than trench coats for medium.

First, I want to thank everyone at Anet for the awesome changes so far. Very excited for all of them. I especially like the PvP announcement.
Still looking for that big news though. Whether it’s guild halls, new missions, custom arena setup to where you can play the daily games with guildmates, something new I can grind my teeth on. A lot of these features so far, while pretty awesome, are pretty fluffy.
Still 3 unlocks to go. I guess we’ll see.
Here’s something funny.
A week ago I was playing FOTM, 38.
Some random guy got Dusk, Ascended GS and Ascended ring all in one FOTM run.MEANWHILE I haven’t received a single FOTM skin in ages.
Working as intended.
I would’ve lost my mind if I were in your shoes. A guildy got 2 precursors last week, I said congrats and then logged out. I’m no longer happy for the success of others as it only highlights my historically bad luck.

Many players will find this topic uneccesary, irrelevant, or a threat to your income because you make a ton selling precursors you are lucky enough to forge but I don’t care. I have been playing GW2 since early access (I was in beta too, but that doesn’t count) and I have forged 1000s of weapons, done countless dungeons, WvW, and events without a single precursor drop.
I feel like my account has a hex on it, some quirk in the coding that prevents nice things from being added to my loot table and I’m tired of it. It’s time to end the nonsensical RNG where legendary precursors are concerned.

It should indeed become cleaned, and maybe getting filled with people settling there.
Regarding Sundar problems, there is kind of a solution: just like the Eden in GW1, Orr could exist in two alternative maps, one for thos who haven’t completed the game, full of Risen etc, and another for those who have finished the game, full of different (and maybe new) ennemies. The player who has completed the game could then choose between entering the Risen-map or the Risen-Free map, just like choosing a path in a dungeon.
Yet I do confess that it could be really difficult to set, however it could be a solution like any other.

“When you unlock a dye after the feature pack is released, all characters on your account will have unlimited access to that color.”
key word above is after.
from minor to major things, you folks sure do know how to push players closer to the door 1 patch at a time. there’s always a caveat, and that caveat usually requires even more grind time, cash or gems.
you guys and gals better make a good impression of things to come for professions and combat in this patch as well or you are dooming yourselves to be stuck with only players who enjoy virtual dress up.
If you had taken the time to watch the video included, you’d see he said all the dyes you have now will be available to all your characters, it’s just any dye you acquire AFTER the patch will be account bound instead of character bound.
I managed to get through the Graveyard sadness, and felt the warm-fuzzies seeing my name on the wall of hereos… then I get to wall of missing, and I see “I can’t find mommy or daddy” and I start crying. ;_;

As for a “cleansed Orr”, it will never happen. Zhaitan isn’t dead (he clearly faked his death; he died too easy in that scene), teq’s rising proves that the risen are regaining its strength (or something), and Orr will never change. Why? 5 answers: Balthazar, Dwayna, Melandru, Lyssa, and Grenth. These are meta events that the most loyal of players visit daily.
This is actually the perfect band aid. Make an LS update with “oh hey we found Zhaitan, he’s still sorta hanging on there, let’s go finish him off.” And then Orr gets all pretty. As for the events, just make them attacks being led by remnants of Zhaitan’s forces. Or like…quaggans or pirates or quaggan pirates or something. Doesn’t really matter what the enemies look like players just want the loot.
I kind of feel like we are underestimating just how corrupted Orr is. Sure we reversed the continuing corruption. But Zhaitan (the lore version, not the actual in game version) was immensely powerful and one would assume the corruption at the heart of his domain runs deep. For all we know, it could take anywhere from a week, to a hundred years to become habitable again. As for the undead, just remember how many thousands he threw at us and how many we found in Orr. The undead will likely linger on for awhile, especially while who knows how many of his lieutenants are still out there.
That’s a cop out and you know it.
This game was heralded to have lasting change based on player actions. This is one of the biggest character actions in the game and there is no change that derives from it. Even taking the cathedral events replaces the undead with spirit creatures for awhile until the event cycle starts again. Surely killing Zhaitan A YEAR AGO (I guess since nobody else is using spoilers there’s no point spoilering) has an effect on the world.
The biggest problems with the Tengu is that the Tengu are basically “Parrot Charr” aka: Their racial traits and personality types are almost exactly the same, they are just bird versions of Charr with less technology and more Samurai stuff, but otherwise, their actual personality types are exactly the same.
The Largos are more likely to be added as a playable race primarily for 3 reasons:
1. Actual humanoid bodies with unique animations for male and female on land.
2. Easier to make into a playable species modeling wise and timing wise since most of the real challenge would be for their wings and how to implement them in game mechanics.
3. Lore Wise, the Largos have a fresher outlook on their back story, they add a mystery that the other five races lack, they are a race of underwater “Predator” inspired fellows that have a fondness of hunting, assassination and secrecy, which makes them the “Dark Hero” trope we don’t currently have among the 5 races of Tyria.
4. Adding Largos would also be the perfect way to refine Underwater Combat giving a heavily underwater centric expansion to help give Underwater Combat more value in the game.
5. The Tengu at present are more xenophobic than ever, its actually more likely they may end up becoming antagonists than allies, at least until they are subdued.
6. The Tengu don’t really have any interesting lore going for them, since they were added mostly as a Cantha thing which means the real strength of their lore actually came from the Canthan Empire fondly trying to obliterate them.
7. Bird People Vs Elf-Like Sea Assassins, come on?
On a final note, I don’t think the Tengu are a bad race, but they need to be more interesting, presently, they are just bird people, with very minimalistic lore, even in Gw1 they were never particularly “deep” or engaging, so if they do become playable, they need a major lore overhaul to make them more interesting and also to give them some diversity from the Charr which presently they are too similar to.
Ultimate Citizen’s Rescue Bag

My personal experience with loot drops in GW2: it isn’t exciting for me any more. I don’t play the game a whole day, playing the game for 2 hours a day gives me 2 rolls on the ultimate bag. I guess my chances for these rare items are below zero.
Trying to be constructive:
Add more non-generic stuff (not crafting mats, shards, bags etc.) to the loot table. You have stuff that drops all the time and stuff that drops for 1 person in 100… rarely. Why not include things in between?
Things with a 10-20% chance per try. Things where not every average player get’s lucky, but having an actually realistic chance to get something you want to have.
examples:
- a new unique mask like the one’s in the gem-store
- a black lion key
- a platinum coin (worth 5g)
- a part of the ultra-rare item – non-tradeable – combine 10 of those to get the rare one.
you could also add more “very rare” drops like the ones we currently have
- rare/exotic minis from the 2-set
- a makeover kit
- a bag of gems (50-150 gems)
- an instrument
Am I the only one who doesn’t care which gender has a prominent role? o.O
Well, now you know how we females feel with just about any other game or movie which has a predominant male cast. This is refreshing for once.
I was talking with my dad about this phenomena the other day, but as it related to the Star Trek comic and how wonderfully strange it was to me to see the Enterprise with all girls and one guy instead of all guys and one girl. I couldn’t believe how weird it felt to see that, when a crew with all men was something I didn’t bat an eye at. Perhaps that’s what’s going on here. We’ve seen the opposite for so long that a female-driven cast is suddenly ~unbalanced~, where a male-driven cast is considered default.
I like that this game is aiming to give meaty arcs to traditionally under-represented portions of the real world population. And I definitely don’t think that male characters having flaws is somehow an insult to them. Rather, I think that their season 1 intros are a wonderful set-up to give them a character arc for season 2 that’s actually compelling and emotionally involving. Will Rox’s search for acceptance into a new warband (vs the “family she chose” in Braham and co) inspire Braham to try to repair the relationship he has with his mom? Does Canach mean what he says about repenting or is it just a slippery way to shrug off suspicion and fade into the background for more covertish shenanigans? Magnus is going to have to do something about his kittenty Captain’s Council and Evon’s set up to be some prime opposition to that goal, as well as influencing Heal-O-Tron in a probably negative way. If these men weren’t somehow flawed, if the women were just Strong Female Characters, I would care so much less about all of them.
I’m just excited to see how everyone’s semi-conflicting ideas end up clashing or merging through Season 2.
eta: And I’m amused at people who think that Kasmeer hasn’t had people calling her a vacuous airhead, or Marjory a terrible detective, or Kiel a useless paladin. Everyone sees these characters differently, I guess. I don’t see how Canach, Evon or Braham are idiots or fools. One is a crafty businessman, one is/was a crafty and caring anarchist, and one is brave warrior who stood basically alone to defend his home against terrible odds.

personally (and speaking as a female player)
I really, really like the female heavy cast. It makes such a good contrast to very nearly every single other game ever. There are just too few female characters in games in general, and even then, they fall into a Lara Croft Syndrome (strong female character, but hypersexualised/objectified).
however: I also feel the focus on gender is too strong, and we should really be looking at toher things. IMO A-Net have done a great job of bringing us a variety of interesting characters.
There are immature ones (Braham and Rox, albeit in very different ways)
strong stoic characts (Marjory, Eir)
completely smitten characters (Kasmeer, Logan)
strong characters that also show emotion (Kasmeer again)
compeltely insane characters (Scarlet Briar)
and so many more – they just now need a story to really present them well enough ^
We’ll go into more detail soon, just to re-iterate so it’s clear:
“The next round of major features will be bundled together into a large “feature only” release that will come after the first season of the Living World 2014 has finished.”
A feature release is not an expansion, it’s a release focused on game features. Examples of game features we’ve done in the past would be: guild missions, account achievement system, spectator mode, new pvp maps, daily world boss chests, removing culling and giving visibility options, the WvW WxP system, etc.
ideas for housing that COULD fit in the game
EACH server is allowed a population
you can BUY from gem store a plot of land and then using new craft skills and items build on it as you desire and it might also mean misisons daily
when you reach 80th they could GIVE you a home in a city of your race….
the idea that these are just race based is kinda silly….think aobut necromancer for a minute might he not build a crypt and graveyard…..
might not the elementalist build in a sea, on a cliff , or tower …..
ALSO you are going to be able to add new items to build your home if it snot the 80th level one….perhaps you might pay taxes to the city your in if you dont you lose the home….
if you get a plot a land that might be a buy from a lord nearby, whom might also require you to pay a few copper a month….the uptick is that you could get upgrades and what not to make money in the game too…enough ot cover that lord expense and make a silver or so a month….
if you spend large and build a castle , your gonna have to pay for defenders , defend it…etc more daily’s and missions….also your going to need to decorate it….
hence why most single characters might only get towers or manors….
games like DCUO at sony do a kinda of buy for a plot per server. YOU could have some contests regarding it as well….
it encourages a more “realistic” feel and attachment ot the character you have.
Guild halls can be easily handled like other games wher eyou have tiers and say the plant the guild down in a city…thats its HQ…then….characters might get the bonuses for visting or some such and again you have to get crafters in your guild to help build it up….
guild.crafer.walls
guild.crafter.materials or some such
ya can do same with housing and imagine a home built via gems….very expensive but trippy looking….
“the crystal tower” or some such
(edited by Chironicus.6341)
Oh right, usually its 4 guys to 1 barely competent mostly there to be a LI girl. Anet better get on that.
Honestly yes, the LS has been fairly woman centric and if they introduce more characters the next should probably be a guy but PS wasn’t (Treherne is the main, Ryltock and Logans bromance is fairly central.) and the guys can deal with not being the majority for once.

Heaps of people on here whinging about the ‘zerg’ mentality, and now Anet comes up with a way to improve battle tactics? And still some people moan… >_<
Except they increased the Knights toughness as well. I was doing 4K Unloads before the change, now I’m only doing 2.4K Unloads. It was already made tougher by requiring no mass zerging, BUT THEY MADE IT EVEN HARDER ON TOP OF IT.
It feels like they haven’t ever made content like this before. Shouldn’t we have these encounters down to a freaking science by now?
They should have left the toughness as it was before the patch, and then adjusted if it needed adjusting (protip, it wouldn’t have needed it). But this on top of the mass zerging block? Anet, you disappoint me, I expect more common sense.
Yea, I don’t know what needed fixing other than the loot.
It goes a little something like this:
1. People are getting too much loot.
2. Disable loot and call it a bug
3. Implement ‘Bug’ patch that ‘fixes’ loot and also makes it much harder to get — all the while screwing groups that aren’t able to down a knight. You don’t tend to adjust difficulty and quantity, when all you wanted to do was fix a bug, correct?
For some reason I can see the champ trains becoming much more popular again tomorrow.
Mini-Expansion idea – Guild Wars 2: Revelations
“He who increases wisdom increases sorrow.”
Expanded Personal storyline which takes place after Zhaitan’s defeat. The Pact learns horrific new truths about The Elder Dragons and Trahearne’s death damages the bond which barely holds The Pact together.
The bond is completely shattered as you uncover shocking secrets your original Order has kept from the others which breaks The Pact.
As things grow darker in the world at large, you are called back home to assist your Destiny’s Edge mentor to discover new information about your race which could drastically change everything about the society.
Despite these terrible drawbacks and the burden of the new revelations, you learn that a handful of members of the three orders and Lionguard remain loyal to you and you alone to forge a new pact and Destiny’s Edge now raises your banner and rallies beneath it, and despite the terrible truths learned about your race or the dragons, the story would close with the knowledge that as many or as one, your resolve remains strong, and the whole world now quietly turns to you for guidance in the coming dark days.
Features would include:
-New Personal Story missions
-New functions of the home instance (repeatable missions, trophy setup, function upgrades ala the AC:II Villa/AC:III Homestead)
-Out of combat Parkour system to take jump puzzles to a new level! (and home instance races against the local, racial parkour champion!)
-Out of combat mounts and environmental weapon type mounts, the former to get around between waypoints faster, the latter, for fun in old and new events and renown hearts!
-Five new maps (each one tied to a specific race)
-New Elder Dragon minions
-Weapon proliferations and skills to match!
-New traits and trait options
That’s probably more than enough for an Eye of the North style expansion, really. The Parkour system is mostly just there because AC:I gave me such a love for that sort of thing and it would feel unbelievably fitting in GW2 if you ask me, even if would be insanely difficult.
Ele has the easiest time on this one.
focus equip, slot mist form, attune to earth
After cinematic
Mist form→walk next to Scarlet→focus 5→stomp (no dodge needed)
I heard thief can do similar with stealth, but haven’t tried yet.
Scarlet found the magical cluster of leylines under LA, she drilled through them and “activated” them. The magic spread around the globe, one of the lines awakened the dragon.
You are missing an “s” at the end of that last sentence.
Why? There’s no evidence that she woke up more than one dragon. Only one dragon is depicted awakening, and moreover, it’s been clear that there are six elder dragons for quite some time now – look at the Crucible’s setup, or the Arah path with the star observatory. The other five elder dragons were awakened previously to this living story patch.
The thing that I didn’t like about this ending was that there was no real explanation. A lot of folks guessed she was after Mordremoth, but we still don’t know why she went to such extremes to wake him up, and how he got into her head in the first place, and what that could mean for the sylvari.
The NPCs say they’re not interested in the explanation, but that’s the exact opposite of what my character would have done in that situation. She would have let her talk, and then killed her. Every piece of information is crucial. Why put all those pieces together in the bar and then not get the answer from the sylvari’s own mouth!?
Otherwise, I’m happy to see a return to dragons, but without an explanation, a cool cinematic is just a cinematic.
