200 gems=50-60 gold=2-3 Tarir Metas/2 world boss runs=1 episode.

Season 2:
8 Episodes=1600 gems=400g=23 Tarir Metas/16 world boss runs
So it takes 16 days only world boss runs- yellow gear, a chance to get exotic

or 2 tarir metas takes few days less- much more yellow gear, bigger chance to get exotics, more expensive materials.

So it will take 10-16 days if you will play regularly. Sell mats, destroy yellows for globs of ectoplasm-more gold, and you will get them all before PoF release.

Gold is easy to farm in:
1) HoT metas- Verdant Brink, Auric Basin, Tangled Depths and Dragon’s Stand.
2) Tequatl and other World Bosses
3) 40 lvl Fractal- you have to have some Agony Resistance (you can buy them for gold)
4) Events in Silverwastes/chest farms.
5) Dungeons
6) PvP- season has started so playing Ranked Matches gives you pips, more pips=better rewards.
7) WvW- find the commander on the Borderlands, Eternal Battleground- you will also get pips every 5 minutes by your participation.

It makes newbies upset that you have to pay for seasons, but it just rewards people who get into the game regularly.

If Season 4 will start, just get into the game and unlock episodes forever. You can also unlock 6 episode of Season 3 I think.

You just have to click the green star above mini map and you don’t need to start any chapter, just log in and click the green star.

There are many ways to get the gold and you don’t need to spend your dollars. to get your episodes

50 gold is not much for 1 episode- if you will play the game ~5hrs per day so I am sure you will get them all fast.

The theory is that the living story costs ANet to make, so they require us to pay extra. They they offer it to us for free as a loyalty reward, for those of us who are online when it’s released (whether or not we own the relevant parts of the game).

So one way or another, some group of players is going to be fine with the system and another group unhappy with it.

I purchased the bare minimum with HoT.

I’ve prepurchased PoF at the top price because frankly, ANet is a company i want to give money to. What us ‘Veterans’ get is up to 5 years of playtime of an amazingly detailed, amazingly replayable, amazingly unique MMO which contines to provide a great amount of free-to-play content free of charge, with the occassional buy-to-play expansion thrown in.

This game, as well as its namesake predecessor, are two of, if not my top 2 favourite games of all time.

I think new players who pay for the expansion should absolutely get access to all the classes. I’d be well and truly behind allowing even F2Players to access Revenant, and making PoF include all HoT content as well. If you bought it before it was included in the next major expansion, your value for money is that you got to play the content all that time prior to that expansions release.

When I tried to get healing mantra and condi convert mantra on my teammate I had to chase him because he was out of range and almost dead with conditions. He died because I couldn’t get to him in time/was out of range. Great support capabilities /sarcasm

The healing in its current state is out-bursted by most of the classes. You won’t heal out anyone with that. It looks good on paper but in practice it is already dead. With courage you will get killed quickly all that because you are in melee range. Why? Let’s say you change from F2 to F3, you get tons of condi to the face and use up all your conver mantra. What else you got? Nothing, F2 on cooldown and F3 only farts stability and 4 seconds of resistance. Oh wait, resistance! Holosmith to the rescue with 14k holo leap crits! No barriers and protection damage reduction is a joke if we look at how much power damage others do. Firebrand’s issue is the fact that it has to be in melee range without any ability to disengage to safety, or do something relevant that will stop the damage (like barriers).

Guardian is meant for jolly crusading.

All the mantras were unusable for me and I feel the tomes are almost a lazy copy-paste of engi kits.

Just about every guardian has “stand your ground” + condi removal (save yourselves , contemplation of purity, purging flames), so mantras need to fulfill some void. I want to like Mantra of Lore , but I feel it is too unreliable (for me).

I think I’ve played it for long enough now to give some succinct and well-thought out feedback that I hope people find insightful. I’ll start by going over some general impressions, then move on to the weapon, utility skills, traits and finally, the tomes.

In general: Firebrand is conceptually EXCELLENT and fills a role that guardians have long yearned to adequately provide. I love the idea of having more cast-focused support and it really comes together when taking certain traits. Tomes (cast times/CDs) and mantras could use some work.

FX and animations: I love, love, LOVE the animations. These were quite possibly my favorite part of the elite specialization. They did a great job of not being all the same which really helped me connect an animation to a skill, thus learn very quickly.

One criticism I have though is one you’ve all been hearing: Tome animations should involve a floating book (perhaps smaller than our old elite tomes) being held in front of us, rather than some glowy transparent pages.

Axe: I tested this on both power and condition builds. Solid weapon.

-The Good: Cast time on symbol is appropriate. Excellent condition application. I think the weapon is very balanced for condition builds.

-The Bad: The symbol is extraordinarily weak on power-based builds. Consider buffing the base-damage of the symbol (to match that of sword’s symbol).

Mantras: Good conceptually but I think they need some numerical tweaking to be fully viable.

-The Good: They are very interesting to say the least. Enjoyed the elite and heal mantra. The count-recharge mechanic = awesome! Having the option to either spread out uses or close out a fight with a final charge gives nice versatility that I think we’ll appreciate in time.

-The Bad: All 4 utility mantras are underwhelming. The final charges barely do more than the regular charges. I think they should all receive buffs to the final charges considering the cooldowns you must suffer afterwards. They should have more lasting impact.

Regarding the cone hit-boxes of mantras: If guardian mantras are going to be mechanically inferior to Mesmer mantras (cones suck), the effects better AT LEAST be objectively superior and they are not.

Consider buffing the cone’s arc angle/forward range and heavily buff the effects the mantras give.

The Traits: Really liked the traits for the most part. Minor tweaking necessary.

-The Good: The quickness on stability/aegis trait is by far the best trait in this entire line. Otherwise liked the build diversity the traits enabled.

-The Bad: Some of the traits are so heavily overshadowed that I doubt they’ll ever see use. Some could use work. Ex:

  • Weighty Terms: In most cases we’re discouraged from using the final charge of a mantra (due to them not being significantly more effective than the first two charges + long CD afterwards).
  • Stoic Demeanor: Really a poor trait by itself. It is also completely overshadowed by the other two. Even power-based builds would be more suited to take the bottom grandmaster trait over this.
  • Imbued Haste (Minor, Grandmaster): Guardians often lack total health, not armor. Consider swapping the +250 toughness to +250 vitality.

The Tomes: First I want to emphasize that no matter what build you are running/role you are trying to fill, If you play Firebrand, your build WILL rely on tomes to be effective. With that being said, the tomes should at least be compelling to use and for the most part are not.

-The Good: Tome of Justice. This thing wins first, second and third prize. As for the other two tomes? Honestly the best part about the other two tomes is that minor trait that grants quickness when entering/exiting a tome.

The Bad: Cast times and cooldowns. They are abhorrent and WAY too high. They are the reason that Firebrand can NOT peel from a fight and can’t sustain very well. They’re just not fun at all…

Some suggested fixes:

  • Instant-cast or 0.25s cast times to enter tomes: 0.75s is way too long, even with quickness.
  • Make some skills instant cast. I think making the #5 skill on f2, the #4 skill on f3 tome, and the #2 skill on f1 tome instant cast would all be good choices.
  • Lower general cast times: 0.75s (maybe 1s) is the highest any of the cast times should reach to. And for the most part, the cast times should be 0.25 to 0.5s, not 0.75s.
  • Lower tome cooldowns to 20, 30, 40s respectively.

Tome of Resolve: This one gets its own section. I’m sorry but this is by far and large the most GARBAGE tome of the three.

  • Its healing is abysmal.
  • It’s poor at clearing conditions.
  • Its one ground-targeted skill is not impactful at all and doesn’t heal.

I found myself using this tome to apply swiftness to myself and allies as I ran across the borderlands in WvW. I would also occasionally pop in and out for a water-field while in zerg play, but THAT’S IT.

Okay, rant aside, here are some fixes for ToR that I think would be appreciated:

  • Increase base healing values. This tome is no celestial avatar (and never will be due to its cooldown time) but its base-healing needs to at least do better than Dragonhunter’s Wings of Resolve. The scaling with healing power is great but overall healing on ToR is garbage even with 1400-1600 healing power due to bad base healing.
  • Add some more utility to these tome skills. Consider adding blind, daze, cripple, resistance, super speed, immobilize and weaken to some of the ToR skills.
    -I think excellent spots to do this would be adding blind to #3, 2s super-speed to #5 (so you can rush to allies and heal them) and 2s resistance per condi cleared on #2.

Tl;dr: Elite spec is fun and can be effective but there needs to be some serious buffing of the mantras and tomes. Mantras needs stronger effects/increased range, and tomes need lower cast times as well as cooldowns.

No, Dragon Stand is always full and busy, just not the instance you get into when you simply port to it at random times. Don’t do that, instead open LFG 10 to 15 minutes before the meta starts and join a squad. Then join the squad’s instance.

One big question I have about this new hall is, what about players that don’t buy the new expansion? Like with the old one, players who didn’t buy HoT couldn’t use the HoT Guild Hall features. But lets say you have a guild were 95% buy the expansion and 5% don’t. They can use the current HoT hall, but presumably they wouldn’t be able to access the new hall, so if you switched, they would lose functionality in the process. Is there some plan in place to resolve this? Will HoT-only players be able to access the new hall?

Had to login and tell you awful your idea is. And to delete it before it gives ANet a bad idea. WvW would lose 80% of its player base if they did this.

Go play pvp if you like those terrible amulets. While you do that I’ll be playing my perfectly min/maxed builds only achieveable through PvE stats.

The last time this was brought up was when ascended armor was implemented and kids who, for some reason, couldn’t make enough gold in wvw to craft them were crying about the 3% difference.

I am wondering why people keep calling out “genocide” on lazarus case.

he is one entity of extinct race, with no hope to recreate the race in the first place, and only a desire to survive on his own to come back later and get into power again.

Shining Blade didn’t commit anything close to genocide on mursaats at any point – they killed 4 – that’s all – and actually player characters in Guild Wars: Prophecies have killed mroe mursaats than whole shining blade can ever hope for – and even then it is rather small number compared to the whole race because what have got whole the rest of the race was titans who were unleashed onto them – by the guy who thought he was destinied to unleash them and rule the world with them.

and actually mursaats themselves were actually actively comminting genocide on humans of kryta by slaughtering hundreds of them every year to keep the battieries keeping the titans out, charged.

but yeah we happened to kill the last one of them [shining blade could account for last 4 of them probably] let’s keep screaming “genocide”.

as for the perilisk points:
1. Anise happens to be there because she was trying to convince the priest to get his followers in line because balthazars worshippers looking for random fights were making trouble in the city – convenient to be happening at same point? possibly, but then anise is one of those persons who likes to actually pull out “random convenient” meetings

2. Shining Blade’s job is to know things – keeping track of who was last seen with which powerfull artifact is one of things you’d expect from them. and since he was carrying it aroudn last tiem he was seen there is no reason to suspect him to just dump it at “random” reliquary on his way out right? :P

3. why he have kept it with himself so long – well you don’t ditch powerfull artifacts on the corners – and while at that point he had no use of white mantle maybe he could need some extra manpower at a poitn – and what would be better way to get such than blackmailing a group of fanatics with a piece of their “god”?

4. leading up other aspects than the one in posession of balthazar – considerign how it abandons this one as soon as it gets “recovered” it would be bound to run out of “other” aspects at a point right?

5. even when not “bloodstone powered” a mursaat would pose a threat and a danger to efforts against the dragons – just like a lone human god is sidetracking us from the main issue of how to prevent dragons from eventually killing us all

6. the oath is to learn what shining blade was intending to do with lazarus aspects – and anise take it out as a good idea for the future case – we are not supposed to run errands for anise now – it is just for the sake of her being able to tell us [in a future] things without risking us blapering them around.

7. one thing that is obvious here is that balthasar went there specifically on his route to crystal desert to dump the artifact there – while pentagram itself was indeed convenient there is nothing to say if it wasn’t there for different purpose originally [which most likely was a case – but bashing writer is just simply easier I guess]

8. we do not have much choice at that point – aspects have happened to be in a proximity and the chances were that it could not be stopepd at that point – so why not take a chance to finally remove one possible enemy from the equasion once andfor all?

9. at no poitn eye of janthir have developped new abilities – from the very beginning it was powerfull magical entity which role was to see things – being able to show these things is not a far stretch and considering the fact that it have just witnessed the death of it’s last master it is not a much of stretch to assume it would firstly wait and see what the guy who killed it want to do – and since we were only interested in knowing where specific guy is, it didn’t filled the lack of a reason to exist – it decided to cease to – simple as that – who knows maybe if we told it thing like “serve me now” it would hang aroudn and be more usefull than one simple vision…..

yeah yeah I know – it is just much easier to bash the writers and assuem them being bad at writing story than to try to think to see if there isn’t a deeper explanation to the thing……

I would like to see Eir back…at Braham’s funeral. The guy has a poor attitude, does close to 0 dps in every instance and is dragging the team down. No one would willingly take this guy into combat. I vote for his mother’s return from the Mists to replace him.

Unfair Tournament Ticket for new players

The veteran got thousands of ticket in the past three WvW Tournaments. They can rush for the new rewards faster than anybody. It is pretty unfair to the new WvW players. My suggestion is anet should launch another three WvW tournament for us. I will be awsome.

See the dozens of responses on tournaments.

It permanently damaged the population in WvW.

And it’s not unfair that the reasons WvW vets had those tickets is because they played the game.

If you don’t have the tickets it’s because of one of at least 2 reasons:
You chose NOT to play GW2, as in you didn’t own it OR
Because you CHOSE not to play WvW tournaments.

Not unfair. Please move on.

I miss this system too. I was particularly sad when in the latest LS episode, you could only convince Phlunt to leave if you chose only Dignified options. It would have been amazing if normally Phlunt doesn’t get bullied into leaving (with Aggressive options), but he DOES accede if you’re a Barbaric type because he’s heard of your previous conduct OR you’re just that intimidating. XD

Also, dont forget that WvW players no longer have to go to PvE to unlock dungeons skins, ascended trinkets(why a WvW player need ascended gear, considering that was made just for high level fractals?),

I wasn’t going to post until I saw this gold. WvW is probably the most important game mode to consider stat wise with build diversity. Ascended gear allows us to swap stats, gives us armor with the highest stats, and even in cases reset stats or whatnot. Our zerk set cannot suit the play style of every profession like it can in PvE.

Legendary armor or stat selectable armor would most benefit WvW players over the 2% of the PvE players who would actually get it, since that is not the case ascended armor is the next best thing.

As for the topic in general, sure it sucks I may not get as many pips only because I’m a silver legend but gives me incentive to continue to play and pop boosters as I’m almost gold. It’s taken me two years to get to 1275 ish so I have no sympathy for you newer players who just want it handed to you. I cannot even get the t3 armor after two years of playing which sucks but hey its incentive. We’ve played for years upon years with no incentive and rewards so the fact you cannot walk into our realm and acquire shinies like we can in yours is justified.

It’s like these students prepared for said tests. Hmmm, haven’t ANET been telling us for what seems like over a year about skirmishes and changes to WvW? It became a running joke, “Skirmishes LOL”. But when it finally came out, you PvE’rs are crying that you didn’t prepare? Why didn’t you rank up when they said skirmishes were coming? It’s like you guys weren’t PREPARED for this test even when devs told you way in advance and now you’re crying about it not being fair?

It’s not discrimination. It is rewarding those who’ve played wvw for years. Why should new players, who might leave wvw altogether when they have their rewards, get the same amount of pips as those loyal to the game mode?

I welcome everyone new to wvw, and hope you find it fun, but you have to earn your ranks and rewards like the rest of us. Wvw has been neglected for ages, so it is past time for those of us playing this game mode to get something from it.

Your post is the very essence of discrimination. You played WVW those years ago for what is was back then and you gained numerous hours of game-play and enjoyment. Giving you EXTRA rewards literally every 5 minute tick is too much. Rewarding extra for the content you enjoyed in the past is wrong. You have already had a head start on the achievement points and so giving you permanent boost in your pips is simply outlandish. .

Your logic is seriously flawed. Let me help: you didn’t invest in the wvw game mode and now you want instant gratification. Since you cant get that, no one should have it.

I’m going to pop into PVE now, I get insta raid armor, right? Insta map completion? Oh, I don’t? Well darn, guess I will have to put in some effort! The horror! Call the ACLU!

I can give you a summary of key events:

  • Zhaitan awakes, destroys Lions Arch.
  • Cobiah Marriner rebuilds Lions Arch.
  • The rest of the world accepts Zhaitan may be a bigger threat than originally believed. The pact is formed as a unison of the five largest civilizations, supported by minor civilizations, and denied by dome (see tengu) to combat the Elder Dragon.
  • An Asura learns of the magic corruption of Elder Dragons, Zojja devices a cannon that absorbs the corrupted magic and fires it back at Zhaitan to kill it. ED1 down.
  • peaceful times
  • Molten Alliance is formed
  • Toxic Court is formed
  • Aetherblade is formed
  • Scarlet attacks and destroys Lion’s Arch, because a leyline node was directly underneath it. Hitting it, and overloading the channel caused Mordremoth to awaken.
  • Sylvari Rebellion
  • Rata Novus found, weakness of elder dragons found
  • Mordremoth fought and defeated by breaking his mind. Trahearne executed because he bore a fragment of Mordremoth’s mind from which he could be reborn.
  • peaceful times
  • Soldiers went missing, a group of adventurers (note, canonically not the pact commander) followed the trail of bandits.
  • behind the bandits a unison of the White Mantle was found
  • Xera was defeated, but the stasis chamber is empty. The white mantle was deceived into believing they resurrected Lazarus successfully, but were fooled by Balthazar and his mirror he took (or stole) from Lyssa.
  • White Mantle orchestrates a regicide against Queen Jennah, but fails. Caudecus is executed soon after.
  • Braham successfully recovers a legendary artifact that once wounded Jormag, denies the commander and heads north.
  • The commander exposes the lies of Lazarus and reveals he’s Balthazar. Balthazar in turn has been deprived of magic to a point he’s no longer as godlike as he once was. He intends to end the elder dragons and take their magic to restore his glory. We manage to stop him, but he’s recovered quite a bit. Taimi believed executing any more elder dragons could cause fluctuating imbalance that may end the world.
  • (future) Braham may use the super-arrows on the now knocked-out Jormag
  • (future) Balthazar may come back to try again, or go after Jormag as well

Okay, Rytlock was called back to the Black Citadel. Right after we were briefly reunited with him after the Mordromoth campaign…. where he was largely absent because of being in the Mists…..

I’m just gonna leave this lil’ pic I made and say that we need more Rytlock. I hope you guys can feel me on this one.

At least your favourite character was not killed in the very begining of HoT by a vinetooth. And only to be replaced by angsty emo kid. Be thankfull for that.

Really the most effective thing I found was weather the storm, stand in their circle or simply run away. If someone ran, I couldn’t keep my stealth up as well and after a steal or shadowstep I was really quite ineffective!

And this is a large part of the problem with the build right here. There shouldn’t be a build where the best options are just to “weather the storm” against it or run away period. It wouldn’t matter if this was on engi, or rev, or mesmer, or war. There shouldn’t be a build where this is the best option. Every build should have actual counterplay, not just “pop your cleanses and hope he loses interest”

Whether or not it’s overpowered is up for debate.

What isn’t up for debate is that the build is stupid, easy, and downright unfun to play against.

That’s why it deserves to go, along with all other source of stealth stacking, non-animation-locking defenses, immunities, passives, and excessive CC.

Honestly, I hate Braham’s character so much. In itself, he is very poorly written. He showed none of this emotion for the man who raised him but now with his mother who has recently just become close to him and passed on is now the be all and end all of his life. Like I understand she is important but his emotional reactions make no sense. To me it comes off as poorly written.

To me it makes sense that their most angst-ridden and foolish character is the one who goes off and makes a weapon to chip a tooth. If you speak to Elder Ulf about the “legend” (myth), he claims that it mostly just gives people goals to aspire to and that there is no need to be honest about it just being a myth. I believe what Braham has done is meant to create a conflict between the Norn and the other races. This chipping of the tooth mean his people will look to him to lead an assault on Jormag and Braham is not ready to do such a thing due to his carelessness, he has proved that multiple times by rushing in, this time in particular getting Rox frozen and then he has nothing to contribute by any sort of idea that you have to crash the monster into the little ice things, to me this might be somewhat intentional because he just bashes an ice creature the whole time and offers no assistance. On top of that, he seemed to show no real concern to what happened to Rox due to his behavior. Like others have said, we need to be united in order to make the Dragon’s fall.

Furthermore, it is insulting to hear coming from Braham’s mouth that his mother would not want us in Destiny’s Edge. They have been hit with such deadly forces in the past, any of the current members would be able to tell it would be time to call it quits and assist a new guild in taking on forces, far greater then they ever could. Zojja told us herself that we were a huge portion of DE’s firepower. Eir, for the most part was an incredibly smart and level-headed norn, who would have learned that fighting the Dragon’s alone wasn’t an option. Why else would she end up in a guild that was filled with mixed races with common goals and enemies. If she learned anything from fighting Zhaitan, it’s that working together is the only way. Braham doesn’t know Eir and bring shame to her legacy and unless his character actually could show some growth in a way that actually makes sense rather than continue to prove him time and time again that he is just a brutish guy with a rock for a brain, then honestly I hope his character get serious consequences and with his assault on Jormag, I hope it fails miserably, maybe he even dies honestly. It is infuriating to see the lack of consequences for his dumb actions, it often effects others and he won’t even care.

The other characters all have something to offer, sure Marjory didn’t listen when we told her it was a bad idea to go off with Lazarus, but that is something we need to find out and she is someone who shows she can think things through and offer well thought out ideas. Not only that, but her personality is far better written and when her family member died, she didn’t act entirely foolish, she listened to friends and learned. Not only that but she was actually raised with her sister, side by side. I am not trying to imply Braham can’t be hurt by his mother’s death, I am just saying that it makes no sense for him to have shown no emotion for his father and all the emotion for his mother with very little presence in his life. I am an angsty person and I am not close with my mother, in fact I would say I have a similar reaction to my mother as Braham used to, but if I got close to her and then she passed away there is no way I would act out for her the way Braham does for his mother, but I am close with my father, he raised me and I would be absolutely heart broken. This is probably why to me, his character reactions make no sense.
