ANet may give it to you.

So you worked for 4 years on it and 30k AP for a full set was not possible to get? Talk about focused play. A friend has 6600 hours and over 32k AP (I dont even have 1k AP more than him but almost twice his hours).
I knew you would respond to my post. ^^
I have over 23.5k AP, which I think is pretty good for 4 years. However a full set of both the armors is 36k AP (not 30k). It’s 42k AP if you count the backpieces. Achievement Rewards
Back when ANet designed the rewards and before they removed the monthly and capped the daily, AP was much easier to get. These rewards were set up with this higher amount of easily obtainable AP in mind. Now, the AP is given out in dribbles and drabs. Capping the daily means that the flow is restricted even more than the original design.
People like you and me who got all that easy AP from the early days are sitting pretty now. For new players, those armors are an unobtainable dream. If left unchanged the number of years for new players to get these armors with daily playing and doing all achieves is beyond reasonable. No armor, no rewards in a video game should be essentially unobtainable for new players yet in reach for old players. That’s not a fair playing field for them.
I know it’s too late for ANet to change the amount of AP needed. However they shouldn’t throttle the little AP we can get if they aren’t going to give us a reasonable amount of other AP with the new achieves.

When will we get Marjory’s new outfit in the gem store? I really want to get this for my necro. I’m planning on doing a total makeover and name change once she gets this outfit, so much fun!

My suggestion would be to keep the daily achievements, even raise the cap if it’s so wanted. But then make sure we can see permanent achievement points of other players and give a reward based on only those points.
Achievement points are a feature which is aimed at completionists.
I thought they were aimed at people who want to brag about trivial things.
Wrong. At least in my case.
I do like putting up a title, but mine is from GW1, so it hardly applies.
My reason is to get the radiant set of armor skins. Without the cap, it was going to take me 6-7 years. With it, I’ll never make it.
We already buried him in our guild hall.
To put it in even more simplistic terms,
Complaining about GW1 content in GW2 is like complaining about Horde vs Alliance in WoW because you didn’t play Warcraft 1,2, or 3.
Agreed. I never played GW1 but I did read the lore and watch lore videos on the topic. I think Anet’s mistake for vanilla GW2 was there were too few meaningful connections to GW1’s events… to the point most players could just ignore there was ever a GW1.
[Edit: All this is for the OP, couldn’t be bothered quoting it all]
From reading the intro of your post I could already get a good sense of what kind of a gamer you are and the rest only confirmed it.
So you play 10-12h a day, probably the same in WoW looking at your super awesome impressive achievements. Thing is… what else do you do? And that’s an important point. You try to dedicate your entire life to a video game, of course you will run out of content. This is not a life progression system, its not a place to find accomplishment in your life. All that stuff happens out there, in the super high resolution game, you know, real world. Video games should be more like casual entertainment not something you build your life’s meaning around. So don’t come demanding features that would make YOUR deranged approach to games work in the expense of everyone else. And yes, DPS meters would ruin it for the casual folk who play the game for some casual fun since people like you, who take all this too seriously, would instantly use them to discriminate people who have other stuff to do in their life and are thus “scrubs”.
Speaking of scrubs, you wrote that:
“Once you learn to recognize all the €10 suits it’s easy to separate the real farmers/pros from the casual scrubs…”
You do realize that those “scrubs” are the ones that keep the game’s servers running and staff paid? Not you, not the players who farm mindlessly till the cows come out, no. All you contribute is server stress, elitism and LFG discrimination.
So maybe rethink your life, do some yoga, get a summer job, anything. I’m quite sure this would alleviate most of the problems you currently see. Its not the game, its you.
There’s tons of things to do in this game if you look past the rewards. I mean, go chill around Timberline Falls, its a gorgeous map. Go do the events, learn what these little hubs of activity are doing and how you can help. That kind of stuff.
Anyway, I know this was quite harsh and snarky but I wanted to get my point across. If its too much for you to deal with then just scroll past.
It sounds like your idea of fun is comparing your performance to others in PvE. If that is the case this probably isn’t the game for you. Aside from the achievement point leaderboards (more a measurement of who started playing before others and spends the most time) there is not likely to ever be a public display of performance when it comes to PvE.
Me I could not care less who does what damage, who heals more and so forth. If I play a dungeon, fractal, world boss and have fun I don’t really care if I did 10X more damage than some other player. It isn’t really important.
If you are really interested in a GW2 measuring contest go play ranked PvP and not the “let win” PvP daily you mentioned in the OP. Ranked PvP is overflowing with players that compare their performance to others and are eager to let people know when they are being carried. There you can see your score as measured among your peers.

Stop. Just stop. They have already said time and time again WHY they cant, and its a good sound reason. Stop making topics like this every week.
The point is stop trying to get rid of HoT it is not goin anywhere and its part of the future of this game. The core game is also part of that future, and I am trying to explain why it will be relevant as the game progresses.

darkwarrior — just want to say I had exactly the same feeling about that episode. I was ticked that I had to let Phlunt get away with his greedy, selfish nonsense, and I — like Taimi (whom I love) — wanted to instead give him a swift kick in the pants.
Yes, he’s greedy and selfish, but that does it make him inherently evil. Killing him because he’s greedy and wants to claim ownership of Taimi’s work, however, is evil, as is killing him just to send a message to the Arcane Council.
While I agree that giving in to Phlunt feels like a bad choice, it also felt to me like a necessary evil. The problem here is he has something the PC needs (bringing the asuras to the table) and time is of the essence. If there wasn’t a need to bring everyone together quickly, sure, tell him no and call his bluff, but Mordremoth at this point is expanding his reach at an alarming rate and there is no time to waste on politics.
I don’t know, someone who is greedy, selfish, and steals from disabled children for personal gain could be considered evil.
Couple things..
1. ANet is gonna do what ANet is gonna do, regardless of what anyone thinks, because its their business. Lose players. Gain players. It matters little, unless profits drop, which they really haven’t.
2. Which leads me to: These forums and subreddit. Many people love to do absolutely nothing, but complain. Too much to do. Too little to do. Not enough this. Too much that. And etc, etc. If you read all the negative posts now, everyone is complaining about a content drought, instead of being happy with what was, and moving on to something else to play, during the interim. Honestly, you don’t have to play this game 24/7, 365. I swear!
3. Alot of people bought into the negative hype from the forums and subreddit, thus it began to reshape their impressions of this game, forgetting that even Blizzard had issues with deploying content the first 2 years, as they were expanding faster than they could manage. All of these negative thoughts, and expressions tend to guide the weak-minded into believing this is the worse game ever, which it really isn’t.
4. Due to the expansion, and after Colin had left, ANet woke up, and started paying attention to things. They started communicating more. Even Mike O’Brien popped in, and even though he brought bad news, bad news is better than no news. So KUDOS! to that. He was honest. Something ANet often portrays the opposite of.
Things ARE changing, but you have to be patient. Take a break. Go play something else for a few months, because there are plenty of great games out there, that you’ll burn through the content, and be just in time for next update for GW2.
Its that easy. Lets just be happy with what we have, and eagerly await new stuff, without being toxic and judgemental.
Man, lifes too short to go around stressin over stuff like this. Especially with all the bad things happening in the world right now. Be happy that you can log in every night, and burn the day’s stresses away on something. Many people don’t have that ability, and live in an anguish neither you or I can imagine.

I Just leveled a new toon with tomes of knowledge, and went right into HOT, it took me less than 2 hours to get all 250 HP’s.
I can’t see any problem with it.

You need to play the whole game to experience it all. What is hard to understand about that?
I don’t raid I won’t get that stuff. I don’t PvP I won’t get that stuff. I understand this is how this game works and I am fine with it. It has from the very beginning.
I sincerely hope you aren’t one of the people screaming in ecstasy about PvE players now being “forced” to do WvW to get the GoB because that would be a crazy level of hypocrisy.
I disagree though. Why should you be allowed to purchase anything for heroic notaries, a technically unlimited currency, that is bound by laurels in other game modes, a currency that is by its very nature time gated to a small trickle?

Hello
I just wanted to rant about this dumb-kitten Asura, who seriously needs a good slap. Ok… so on one of my characters, I did the Tonn storyline.
So the first time entering… Auric Basin? I see this Ceera, and I’m like wow.
So I go say hello. You’d think after all these years she’d be a little more rational, but she was a nasty horrible cow. I don’t like how we’re not given a chance to defend ourselves, back during the Sad Duty mission and now. The playable character has saved like billions of lives!
I know it’s really sad that Tonn died, but that wasn’t our fault! If the dumb-kitten Pale Tree hadn’t asked us to choose something we fear the most, Tonn wouldn’t have died.
She should take her anger out at her.
Regardless, the ship needed to be destroyed because otherwise, really bad things would have happened. I know that death/loss can make people emotional and irrational… but it’s totally not our fault that Tonn sacrificed himself
I just don’t like that this dumb-kitten gets the last word in. I mean, we saved her life! (Although technically now I just use a speed boost before she runs into that Risen filled cave- but that’s not the point!). If I were the playable character, I would slap that ugly, ungrateful Asura across the face.
Seeing her in Auric Basin acting all high and mighty led me to post this rant.
Thank you
You better watch out…you better not cry…
(IGN) Santa Odin is here to make you’re Wintersday, and all the days, bright!
(Sorry the pic with the tree is a little washed out…that tree is BRIGHT! )
Oh and, people who claim there wasn’t enough content with HoT are really saying there wasn’t any content they want to do. The content is there. You payed for it. If you don’t like it and/or want to do it, that’s your problem. There was beta testing and plenty of announcements for all the stuff included with HoT. You knew what you were paying for. If you didn’t know, you should have researched it before buying the expansion.
I’m also getting sick and tired of the claims that “the game is dying”, “everybody is leaving in droves”, “everybody hates this or that”. It’s not true one bit. There are still plenty of players in the game. I see lots of people everywhere I go.
The problem, though is that the arguments in opposition to having them are just much weaker than the arguments in favor of having them. I’d like to understand why there’s an opposition.
Arguments you offer in favor:

I find my reasons against to be strong, while yours in favor are weak.
the maps are small enough without mounts. Mounts in general are a great big new system the devs would have to spend time developing, testing, meshing, resolving clipping issues on, dedicating an art team to…. the list goes on.
Personal I’d rather have all that time, money, and resource spent somewhere else like a new Living Story chapter, Raid Wing, or legendary collection instead of letting a hoard of people spam jump on a dolyak.
GussJr, I tried to get that with all celestial on a norn, didn’t quite gel. But that made me want to do it up in all silver and go around saying “Klaatu Barada Nictu” at people.
Playing two different characters in one RPG sort of defeats the purpose of an RPG and is a good way to break immersion. Any creative person or anyone who grew up playing MMORPGs should understand this.
Looks at this post, looks at my 9 level 80s. Thinks to self, Self, I don’t believe this person is speaking for me and how I like to play. He talking about how HE likes to play and thinks that everyone is just like him. He’s going to have a shock later on in his life when he finds out that different people like different things and have different opinions than him.

Hmm. I feel like I’m fairly creative. I write short stories, fashion acceptably good Shakespearan sonnets without turning them to doggerel, I at least used to be able to draw good character sketches, etc. I’ve got a room full of period costumes I’ve sewed using proper fabrics and construction.
And I have a LOT of alts, a good many of which have ongoing RP stories, some of them interwoven but most kept separate from each other because the RP is meant to be with other players, not with myself. My newest one was made for a mystery plot I and a guildie are running and I came up with a ton of detail for a “dungeon crawl” based on it. Seeing Tyria from a number of viewpoints makes it feel richer, more detailed, and bigger for me.
Whatever other points you may have to make, claiming a creative person needs to be limited to one PoV to immerse themselves in an MMO world isn’t one with which I’ll agree.
The effect is great, beautifully designed .. Don’t like it , go play something else and leave our shiny alone
Or maybe they should give us an option to disable both the effects and the sound; that way everyboy is happy.
Can’t place any decorations – says I don’t have anymore to place. Bug report submitted.
Someone was posted that the original topic did not rhyme, so….
Twas the Nightmare Before Christmas
Twas the nightmare before Christmas and all though the land
Anet has laughed at their plot, and gleamed at their scam.
The shoulders did sparkle, the item quite merry.
But the gift is a trap be watchful. Be wary!
“The task is quite simple don’t worry,” they say
“The following year is the new Winter’s Presence day.”
“Though with no way to collect them or farm them,” I cry,
“The year will not help us as price soar sky high.”
“It’s fun, it’s merry,” Anet says with a grin.
“We spread seasons cheer, so all of you win.”
The gold to buy will break us, and farming will fail.
This was a horrible joke, as the Grinch now prevails.

Please consider removing the JP x 3 requirement for the Winter’s Presence Shoulders.
The lvl of difficulty involved is beyond the reach of many and the frustration it brings isn’t fun at all.
Why :
-The 30 min “PVP” zone limit. If you don’t pay attention, you can be far in the JP and suddently be kicked from it.
- The maximum player in the zone sometimes prevents you to attempt it when you’re rdy for it.
- The fact that the snowflakes disappear with a very tiny time limit. You basically have to run from start to finish (except checkpoint) giving you very little time to plan you next move.
- The fact that you take periodic dmg (you cannot stop for more than a second or you will die).
- The many obstacles (snowman that blows wind that can knock you off, boulders, red circles, exploding gifts).
- The fact that you cannot re-attempt it from the checkpoint to practice.
- The fact that you cannot use any class skill or other players help.
Don’t get me wrong, I like challenging content and I’ve completed nearly 95% of the other JP.
But in this one, I manage to reach the checkpoint about 10% of the time and so far, I always die at the blowing gifts for whatever reason. Sure, if I keep attempting it for another 500 tries, I will probably get it eventually. But…is that supposed to be fun ? Does that entertains me ? Not at all.
Sure, not every items should be easily obtainable. But I honestly think the difficulty lvl of this JP is too high to be a req in a simple holiday skin (let alone the 10k drinks and other req things).
I would suggest you put a big daily reward at the end of it for the highly skill players who succeed and have an alternate option for the skin itself.
A long time loyal player.
