Anet promises much, delivers little.

I have a different experience. From my point of view, Anet has delivered on pretty much all of their talking points (I don’t want to use the word promises, because I think it doesn’t really fit what Anet has said.

Anet has made in the course of this game’s creation probably thousands of statements. If you can only point to 10 or 20 or even 50 they didn’t do, Anet has provided most of what they said they would provide.

and how they change things all the time.

What did they change?! They made ONE zone in 2 years period, GW1 had 2 expansions in that time. What are you tallking about?! Why are you deffending GW2 so much, like this is perfect game with no erors.

Never said the game was perfect. I have agreed with some criticism of the game. You need to learn English.

The are an iterative company. That means they change things WHILE working on them, sometimes scrapping entire systems. That’s what I mean by change. Some things they were going to do they never end up doing and some things they weren’t going to do end up happening. Iteration. That’s what it means.

Pay attention to 1:27. I don’t see anywhere “the content above is subject to change as we test and iterate on these systems”.

Right because a video created 2 years before the game released as a, get this MANIFESTO needs a disclaimer. I’ll save you the trouble of looking manifesto up in the dictionary.

It’s a statement of ideals. Intent. Not a promise of execution.

Rats, foiled again by the English language.

If they’re not 100% sure than they can’t say something like that. “Oh, we will build this 100% at the and of 2014, but we are not sure 100% – we must test it first”. What is that?!

You can’t say something like that big if you are not 100% sure. If you remember, they also announce the game without grind and what we have now?! It is just a falls marketing, nothing else.

Hence, the disclaimer that everything might change…

If you read up to that part, you should have set a mindset that it may or may not happen, thus not getting your hopes up and we’ll not have this QQ thread.

Oh and don’t get me started on the grind. If Vayne sees it, this might end up 10+ pages. lol jk Vayne. Peace man.

On a serious note: There is no required grind. Don’t ever recall grinding to get full exotics which btw allows me to compete 99% of the game, the 1% being fotm 20+.

Oh, where in the rule book is that rule, because I must have missed that page.

You can say anything you want, if you have a disclaimer, particularly for a company that has talked so openly about its iterative style and how they change things all the time.

To much fanboyism here… Ok. guys, the game is perfect, there is nothing to fix. There is no grind, nothing like in other “generic” mmorpgs like WOW or so. This is the best mmorpg ever made.

Fanboyism? Fanboyism?!

Is it “fanboyism” to point out your obvious mistake? People like you read only what they like or tend to put up with what favors them and end up not fully understanding things.

Just man up and admit you missed the part Vayne put up. Nothing wrong nor degrading with it.

Actually when you use words like false promises (which are demonstrably untrue), I don’t know why you’d expect ANYONE to agree with you.

If someone says Look we’ll go to the movies, unless something comes up, and then we can’t go to the movies, it’s not a false promise.

They specifically said it’s subject to change for a reason. You can’t just pick out the sentence you want from a document and ignore the rest of it. That’s called taking it out of context.

There are many reasonable posts and complaints on these forums. Yours happens not to be one of them.

When you say something is subject to change as we iterate, it’s not false advertising and it’s not a promise. Yes, they posted about the precursor crafting and said what they had been working on wasn’t going to work because of other changes they’ve made.

Do you want to know why ArenaNet don’t like promising things?

It’s because of people like you who will cling on to things like this, not let them go and hold it against them.

So thank you for being one of the people responsible for making them sever contact with us regarding their intentions.

Let’s take a look at some of the other quotes in the same article. Hang on, what have we here.

From the upcoming release of our brand spanking new Looking for Group (LFG) tool, to investigating ways to limit culling in PvE, to the two-week content schedule our Living World teams have in store, the second half of 2013 has countless more exciting new things in store for our players than I can possibly cover here. As always, the content above is subject to change as we test and iterate on these systems.

OP which part of subject to change did you not understand?

300 gold for a tag color is too much

They completely ruined the feature.

The ENTIRE point of color swaps on commander tags is so people can see what the heck is going on on the map at a glance.

You know how well having two blue guys works? Like crap. Sometimes people will go nuts until everyone but one guy tags off because it’s too confusing.

Simple solution was always: give colors.

Which they are finally doing but for THREE HUNDRED GOLD PER EACH COLOR to be unlocked?

It ceases to even be a feature for WvW. It’s a toy for rich farmlords.

Anet is basically charging the community for a feature the community wanted put into the game to help large groups and events organize. They’ve taken a highly requested idea and spun it around as a gold sink.

Charging gold for a colored tag designed to help promote oragization, split large groups (zergs) and promote tactics (something WvW is severely lacking) is an outrage. It can be compared to charging players gold to use map chat, a tool used to organize groups and for tactics, much like the commander tag.

I beg that the decision to charge gold to access colored tags be reconsidered.

If it is SAB i’m not interested. What a terrible waste of development time.

Work on the actual dying game, ditch the terribad mini games.

That’s how I feel about WvW/PVP content, it’s terribly done from the base up and is a waste of time to try and fix at this point. But I don’t go around to PVP threads shouting that.

SAB is one of the coolest things ever done in an MMO, I missed it and I’d love to be able to play through it myself.

Not asking for new content in it, just put in what has already been created, is that really so terrible to ask for?

Dancing With Dragons: Improving Iconic Foes

in Living World

Posted by: Shriketalon.1937

Shriketalon.1937

Greetings and salutations!

As the second season of the Living Story gains momentum, we hurtle hellbent towards a battle with Guild Wars 2’s iconic enemies, the Elder Dragons. But all is not well in the land of Tyria. The last dragon battle was somewhat…lacking, to put it kindly, and the looming possibility of further draconic warfare merits some introspection and suggestions. In an attempt to help this process, I humbly submit the following array of constructive criticism over Ye Olde State Of Dragons in GW2.

There are five major problems with the state of dragons in the game that need to be considered. Firstly, we have the problem of looming threats, or complete lack thereof, the fact that the dragon minions just don’t seem to be doing much of anything. Secondly, we have the lack of character in the dragons themselves and the distinct possibility for boredom with fighting six different “ancient and unknowable” foes. Then we have the absence of variety of dragon minions (easily remedied with effort) and the corresponding lack of variation with the heroic forces that fight them (hard to fix, but well worth it). And finally, we have the elephant in the room….the battle for Arah.

My suggestions are far from perfect, but perhaps they’ll shed light on the potential pitfalls the Living Story may face in the coming months and offer advice to improve this epic journey. I sincerely hope in the future to experience a draconic foe that feels like this, rather than this.

Here we go!

Feature Pack September 2014

From basing this annoucnement, that they want to focus on PvP and WvW, i guess we might see some stuff that we suggested together in those PvP and WvW CDI’s
.
But I just hope that we see something along the line of these things for WvW (I’m no PvP, so I can’t speak for their suggestions in the CDI, other than having general suggestions that might bring me to start PvPing)

PvP:

  • Balance Patch Included, from the current Skill Bar Stuff peopel guessed already that this Balance Patch will come around September, so it would fit well to do both at the same time.
  • New PvP Mode – The Arena for 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 Duels
  • New PvP Mode – The Codex (Play with an automatic random pregiven Class & Build, you don’t decise what you play the game decides with what you have to go into Combat each time new)
  • New PvP Mode – Island of the Survivor – 1v4, try to survive as long as possible, if the 4 can’t kill you before the time runs out, you win. The isle offers helpful utilities that make it for the single player a bit easier to fight against 4 players and it isn’t on the isle also always wise to go just all in on that 1 player to force the win, as the tide could turn very quickly if that player lays a deadly trap into that all run into.
  • New PvP Mode – All vs All Last Man Standing (basically like the Suvival Minigame, but just with the real GW2 Skills

Stuf like that is it, that PvP needs, it needs more gameplay alternatives, than this stale and boring always the same stuff, that it has now for 2 years.
Also the return of such things like Fort Aspenwood and that oher Jade thing PvP Combat Map from GW1 would be very nice (Maybe as some kind of new PvP Fractal Maps Why not make usage of the Fractal System also for PvP to create some new interesting PvP Maps where we all have to use also completely time and location/creature oriented new skills
—-

WvW

  • Comander System Redesign (Multi Color Comander Icons, more Options for the Commander to easier command its Squads, more usage of the Squad System in general
  • Adding the known yet not implemented WvW Skill Lines Reinforcement Mastery and assault Mastery, raising some of the current Skill Lines to have also 10 Perks, merging some of the Skill Lines
  • Adding hopefully Class Role Skill Lines, class specific WvW Skill Lines, that improve the roles of each class for WvW, so that every class is somehow different special and useful for WvW, like Thieves becoming better Infiltrators, Saboteurs and Rogues that can get easier intel about Enemy Locations, Plans and so on by espionaging them, sabotaging their Siege Weapons from Stealth and so on
  • Implementing some of the EotM improves to all the other WvW Maps, like improved Enemies with better A.I and Skills, more new traps (including Trap Mastery WvW Skill line to unlock them and improve their usage, so that they become more useful and important in WvW.
Eventually going please perhaps so far to redesign the Borderlands into 1 single big map and giving WvW another new Map, 3 times the same map is just waste of space, 3 different maps on the otherhand are fun and interesting
  • Finally for gods sake please redesign the WvW Achievements and lower them down to a SANE level
  • Change of the WvW Point System to make Matches a bit fairer
  • Splitting of the Supply System into 4 different Supply Types, so that WvW gets more strategetical important thigns that you want to have to get your thinfs done and to give killing creatures in WvW also a MEANING
Supply becomes: Food, Natural Ressources (Water, Ore, Wood), Energy Crystals and Material (which you receive out of your Natural Ressources from Manufactures, which become a new type of stronghold upgrade.
And killing creatures liek Deers, Dolyaks, Wolves and such mike finalyl a sende, because you get FOOD (their meat …)

That are things for now which would greatly improve the WvW experience for me.

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

Hey everyone, I have compiled a step by step guide to the new Mysterious Vine backpiece and I want to share this guide with you. It doesn’t have many images at the moment but I will be adding them in in a bit.

You will need 400 in Artifice, Huntsman and Chef and 7 days unless you have a lot of gold since the food you need is time gated and can be only crafted once per day.

Balsco.3682

Since when are we given the idea that Taimi needs pity? The only reason the other characters may seem protective of her in the first place is because she is 13 years old, not because she is disabled, where did you even get this idea from, to me it seems like you’re just trying to find a reason to be “offended”, Taimi is a character in her own right regardless of her disability and the other characters never treat her like she needs pity.

Your idea of feminism must be somewhat twisted, regardless, Braham doesn’t act the way he acts because he is a “feminist view on males”, it’s because he is a teenager and a Norn, and it’s canon that Norn aren’t as bright as humans on average, and also value action a lot, additionally, Braham is a guardian, so it makes sense that he would want to charge in to protect his friends instead of thinking up “intelligent strategies” when it’s obvious there are people better suited to do so in his group.

You thinking that characters are “characters” and that reality has no relevance or meaning is ridiculous, the reasons we as people can associate with characters is because to some extent we consider that they are people.

How do you expect Braham to gain wisdom from Eir really? Eir was by any human standards a horrible mother(maybe not by norn ones), and it’s even implied multiple times that Braham’s respect for her is not big, he doesn’t respect her as a mother, and why would he? She gave birth to him and left him.

As a significantly handicapped person —

I totally disagree. Completely. Absolutely. Disagree.

It’s time we stopped treating the disabled as invisible.
It’s time we stopped patronizing the disabled.

Pretending the disabled don’t exist in a “fantasy” setting is ridiculous.

ANet has done a wonderful job of integrating a disabled character into the current story. She is imperfect, sometimes bitter, but fighting back against her disability. She is refreshingly realistic without being preachy. Her presence adds an interesting aspect to “heroes.”
