What I find interesting is that there seems to be an expectation that ANet should pump out content much faster, but it sounds as if this expectations comes from an observation somewhere else.
Where would that be? WoW, which goes months between raid patches which are cut down in size to be a single small raid zone with a handful of bosses, and then a year until the next xpack? A year of nothing, ofc.
Wildstar? Which lacks content right out of the door?
Or are we looking outside of MMOs? Bioware pushing out content faster with DA2 certainly wasn’t well-received either, so there’s a negative precedent there. D3 went 2 years before it got more content, and it was only ~25% more, and the world isn’t large to begin with. PoE is still in it’s death throes so I doubt much will happen there.
No company releases lots of content fast.
For 2 weeks, Dry Top is quite good. Plus let’s be serious, adding new zones should be something done rarely, as it makes an already giant world even larger, each time they need to check whether Megaserver still fills each zone at least once over.
I think you need ton take a realistic look at how much time and effort it takes to make these assets. Especially to the quality level that they managed in dry top. Plus the fact that there is considerably evidence that this is only part of a larger area. AN is a big company but they can only manage so much, and if that’s a problem for you then I’m not sure what will make you happy.
Imagine they had started season 2 with at leats 3 new FULL maps and a new Dungeon with 3 paths and then said that’s your lot for at least 3 months? Wouldn’t that have been better and more exciting?
No it wouldn’t.
Dry Top as you said takes a few hours, “3 new FULL maps” would take like a couple days to finish, also do all paths of a new dungeon would take another couple days, that is about 1 maybe 2 weeks of content, so … what you would do in the rest of the 2,5 months without any new update?
EDIT: It is your problem that you don’t want to do all the offered content, do all the story and all the achieves from this update would be enough to keep you busy for those 2 weeks, assuming you don’t play 8~10 hours a day.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

Well, don’t play it bite-wise then. Log in every two weeks and logout again. Some month later there will be enough in your Story-Journal to play through for you. … You do know the Story Journal, don’t you?

“A few yours” every 2 weeks would still be comparatively more content than WoW gets. Not sure how WS compared. I don’t really see the big problem, bite-sized is good if you got a busy life.

Don’t get me wrong, I think this is a great feature and should continue to be implemented in the Living Story. However, I honestly didn’t want to replay ALL of the new content, and I don’t really care about the achievements, so can we please have an option to cancel the story replay without finishing everything again?
That green star which is now hovering over my UI is incredibly irritating, and I won’t be using the feature in the future if this is going to be how it works. There is a couple of parts which I would love to replay, such as the final boss fight against Aerin, but if it comes at the cost of having a green star pestering me until I replay everything else, I probably won’t use try this again.
Again, great work on the “Replay Episode” feature – I think it’s a great addition to the game, but it would be nice to be able to replay selected content without having to finish all of it.

Just walk to the instance entrance – enter – profit.
Just read the text – ???? – profit.
No need to be snarky, especially since you’re wrong and the guy above is right.
There are purple markers in the world that allow you to replay the specific instance.
Pay attention before insulting others first, mkay?
Oh, and video games are art. There’s technically no right or wrong way to do art. That’s what avant-garde is about afaik. That’s essentially innovation and experimentation for those that don’t know. That’s how the games industry grows and advances. You want to eliminate that? Buy the next Call of Duty game.
The notion that it’s just intrinsically wrong for a specific game to employ a specific type of gameplay because of its genre is… well… its like a racial stereotype. Saying all MMOs should be intrinsically a certain way is like saying all asians should be good at math, or all black people should be good at sports.
Limiting a game by stamping the MMO label on it is just wrong. There’s jumping in GW2. Press your space bar and get over it.
Hey everyone, I just finished up my achievement guide for the Gates of Maguuma Living Story Episode so I thought I would share it for those stuck on the various achievements. It includes video guides for most achievements as well.
As usual, it is best to attempts the achievements for yourself before consulting a guide.
There is also the Dry Top achievement guide is mostly completed except for the skitt burgler one and the frog boss one.
That’s the “No More Shocks” Achievement, actually.
To get “A Shocking Development”, you need to use the golem’s two attacks against it. When it does the Static Discharge spin, maneuver it so that the mini-golems get hit by the bolts, that will give them an electric charge. Then, when the golem puts down its force field and removes conditions from its mini-golems, it’ll take the electric charge from them as well. As such, you want to lure the golems into that force field. When it gets too many stacks of that electric charge (at least 7, maybe 10) it’ll be electrocuted and lose a lot of health, losing its defensive buffs and becoming vulnerable. That will give you the achievement.
Yes, and this is a good thing.

You have 2 weeks or more to log on for 30 seconds to unlock an episode.
If you can’t even do that, then yes you have the option of buying the story and unlocking it. But keep in mind your friends can take you into the story instance for free, you just wont get any rewards.
Yes. If you WANT to. As opposed to Season 1 where, if you missed it, you didn’t have any way to see it at all.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
this game seems to be dead.
Only if you’re blind or a compulsive liar.
Game is no where near dead.
We got lots of content today, more coming soon. And the majority of people seems to be enjoying the patch.Again , another opinion implying the majority like this (‘seems to’), guess you haven’t read the negative comments or you just don’t bother counting them as legimate. Many more ‘seem to’ not care for many aspects of the update, specifcally the forced jumping.
I go to any zone, I see other players. Not dead. Fact.
Really?
Seriously?
No. Stop it.
I really hate it when people assume things that they don’t even bother to check. The game is no where near dead. I see an overwhelming amount of players in most areas.
Oh yeah, and your friends are not the entire population of GW2.

People demand harder content, harder content arrives, content is too hard please make it easier.
Make up your mind.
I couldn’t agree more. The Festival of the Four Winds is everything I love about Guild Wars 2, while having a charm that is uniquely its own.
I love the map. I love the crazy haphazard bamboo architecture clinging improbably to the soaring cliffs. I love to see waterwheels and boxy little houses piled on top of each other. I love the climbing. I love the jumping. I love the ZOOM. I love catching a peek at a crystal glimmering on a distant ledge and wondering how I’ll get there. I love the colourful awnings. I love the lanterns and the little paper boats. I love to see the sky full of billowing sails. I love the surprise. I love the whimsy. I’m sad to see this place go, because there’s nothing else like it, but at the same time it reminds me why I love this game so much.
The moment Guild Wars 2 truly won a place in my heart was the first time I found a vast sprawling cavern complex full of ruins, beauty, bosses, rewards and a jumping puzzle simply by following an idle whim to follow a stream back to its source. When that tiny cave mouth opened into a whole world I hadn’t even guessed at, I knew I had found a game that understood the joys of exploration. The first time I explored the Labyrinthine cliffs, many months ago, I had that same feeling. I still do. After two festivals, many hours and tons of falling damage, I am still discovering new things about this place. I hope I have the opportunity to discover many more. So thank-you. Thank-you for the festival.
Through months of research I finally got a hold of evidence, showing us that Anet has decided upon the new elder dragon appearance and are currently working on its grand design.

I have probably put in over $1000. So my extra will make up for you not buying gems. You will probably say that I am just one player, but there are thousands like me who paid over as well.
Also I am glad to donate so that there are many players you included that can play for free or very close to free. Besides the initial cost of the game.
