Not a single white knight? I am impressed! Seriously OP, noone cares what gender you are anymore it’s 2013, stand on your merits not your gender. Your opening statement almost appears that you are trying to draw a causal relationship between being female and being casual, I don’t know if this was your intention or not but if it was it’s quite frankly insulting. That isn’t to say that being casual is insulting, it’s just that to make an implication that you are casual simply because you are female, well it discredits any validity of female gamers as being able to actually be “competitive”

Blocking and World vs World

in WvW

Posted by: AggieTechGuy.4901

AggieTechGuy.4901

Hello,

For many months now, IoJ has suspected there is a spy that is live-streaming everything that happens within WvW. I won’t debate whether or not this is the case here, but there seems to be a semi-easy solution to this.

1. If I were to block someone, that person should not be able to see what I am saying in chat. The purpose of me blocking someone, in my mind, is to cut off complete communication with them.

2. If I were to block someone, I also don’t want them to see my commander’s tag on the map.

3. If I were to block someone, I would also not want them to be able to join my squad.

I understand that anyone can pay with gold or gems to transfer servers, and pity those that do. However, we should be able to block those who we suspect spy on our server. World vs World is very competitive, and enemies spying on our strategy is frustrating and fosters anger within GW2 WvW.

Please consider making these changes, or something similar that could solve the problem. Spying is an issue that should not be overlooked anymore.

- – EDIT – -

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t something like this be relatively easy to implement? Perhaps force an invisible status for the relationship between player A and player B, then tweak the commander icon so that invisible commanders can’t be seen or communicated with?

Difficulty and the Casual Player

I am a casual player as well, only 1 level 80 on my account. This is the one of the most casual/solo friendly games on the market. Some content is designed to be harder than others and some will require you to work with other players if you want to complete it. Did you try and learn from your one and only experience in Southsun before you “immediately logged off?” If you play more difficult content and immediately run away after first contact how do you learn to adjust in order to deafeat your target? If solo face rolling a game is considered fun for you, stay in the easier content.

Guild System Improvements

in Suggestions

Posted by: BioHazard.2147

BioHazard.2147

The Guild system in guild wars 2 seems very thrown together to me and is lacking some MAJOR features even from the first gw that didn’t make it into the second.

-Mutli-Guild Problems- Possible Multi-Guild Fix 2 : Allow Mutli-Guilds. Limt the amount of guilds a character can be involved in. Do not limit chat involvement to only one guild, Create multiple channels for each guild, with same options as the normal chat system. Each Guild having an assigned and Customizable Color. When a character completes a task pvp/event/ect. which provides IP. IP is generated for all guilds the player belongs too. (Possibly with the option of splitting currency 1 guild membership = 100% to the guild, 2 guild membership 50%-50% and so on. “Representing” For a guild is purely cosmetic, Showing that guilds logo/Tag. Keeps Guild mates from other guilds Nameplates Orange, Even if not representing.

-Ranking System needs tweaking- In the current state the ranking system is very restricted. You cannot allow members to invite players without kicking them also. FIX: Split “Admin Lower Ranks” Into “Promote/Demote” and “Invite Members”.

-Organization within Roster I would like to see an organization option to have Ranks of ONLINE players be an option. If I sort the guild by Rank in the current set up it shows offline members. I would also like to see a break between the Ranks, A small line would even due just some organization.

-Officer Chat- Communication between officers/leader without having to make a ton of whispers or a party to talk

-MotD- “Edit” erases everything, it needs to do exactly what it says, Edit the message. Also Guild setting turning on/off if the message displays when a Character logs on/off

-Guild Description Currently the only place to put Guild Rules/Vent info in guild is in the MotD. Guilds need an area to put a description of what there about, and also include vent info, rules, other info that doesn’t take up a spot where guild events / achievements should be being announced.

-Notes- Both Officer and Public, Because Guilds are account based it is easy to lose characters in their alts. This would help Guild Leaders identify “Mains” for PvP teams, and PvE teams. Also this needs to be done to form a communication between officers if a member is being rude while one Officer is on they can leave a note so if it comes up again another officer can follow through. Also with positive influence, if an officer sees some leadership qualities they can write that in so the Guild Leader can keep an eye on them.

-(Name) Logged On/Off - Name says it all. Have a Guild setting to post when a Player has logged on or off of Guild wars.

-Last seen on- I have members in my Guild that I have no idea if they have even logged on since the launch of the game.

-Influence Tracker- I would like to see some sort of Account based influence tracking, While I can see this causing problems because Guilds could create Influence Quotas. I would like to see that so I can identify members who are pumping out influence and reward them.

-Emblem- I would like to see more “Showing Off” of emblems, Time being they are very small icons here and there. A couple options are Icons by names, Banners on weapons and armor ( not capes ) but literally a banner you wear on your back(much like the blade master in warcraft3).

-sPvP Bonuses- No I do not want to have a + 40Vitality (ect) buff for sPvP and tPvP. I would like to see more options to support Guilds within tPvP tho. “+ X% sPvP influence increase”, “sPvP Guild Finishing Move”, “sPvP armor banner”, “+Magic Find sPvP” (for chest rewards).

-Guild Halls- This was in the first Guild Wars and I would like to see it again. “Guild Hall” – Requires Max level in at least 1 Rewards Tree (Politics,AoW,Economy,Arch.) You also need to use influence to Purchase upgrades for your hall, Thus if a Guild has a hall using the Art of War tree they cannot get the same upgrades a guild using the Economy Tree has. Each tree will have its own unlocks for the Guild. Also a place to run PvP Skirmishes/Tournaments.

-Mailing Feature- Mailing Feature which would allow you to compose a message to either the entire Guild or Officers. This could be used to expand communication within the Guild as not all members are online at the exact same time. Could be used to Set times for Guild Events, Meetings, On what days Guild bonuses will be activated. Also adding a “Guild” tab to the mail screen. (And while we are at it a BLTC Tab)

-Guild Calender- Allows for organization of events / buffs for guild. Exactly what normal calendars do :P

Please provide Feedback.

AXE

Triple Chop: Since the 22th October 2012 update, Triple Chop can now be inturupted with a regular Chop (i.e. from mashing #1). Tied in with the cast bar for Triple Chop changing from the normal one to the channelled one.

GREATSWORD

Arcing Slice: Lists “Might” instead of “Fury” as the bonus on the tooltip text when you have enough adrenaline to activate the skill. The boon icon correctly says Fury.
Arcing Slice: Description says you uppercut the foe with an uppercut. Animation is actually an overhead smash
Bladetrail: Numerous environment collision issues. Sometimes it gets stopped by a wall/cliff, other times it can pass through multiple objects without issue.
Bladetrail: Known bug which can cause it to deal utterly insane amounts of damage. Seems to occur when the blade hits a large number of targets.
Hundred Blades: If used right at the end of Greatsword Slice (skill #1 chain #2), there is a noticable delay before the skill activates. Using it earlier in Slice’s cast time or just as Brutal Strike (skill #1 chain #3) starts causes Hundred Blades to activate instantly.
Hundred Blades: Quickness starting or ending during the cast/channel (i.e. from a proc or Frenzy coming to an end) will cause the ability to bug out and not do the full amount of hits.
Rush: Still misses the opponent with the final swing, usually due to the Warrior overshooting or not turning around at the end.
Rush: Still sometimes causes you to run on the spot in front of your enemy as the game hasn’t realised you’re in range for the hit.
Whirlwind Attack: Ground reticule sometimes keeps showing even after the skill has activated.
Whirlwind Attack: Camera collision/clipping issues if performed into a wall.
Whirlwind Attack: Known to cause a target drop when used.

HAMMER

Earthshaker: Doesn’t apply damage or stun if the landing point is lower than your starting point, i.e. leaping off a ledge to hit enemies below you. Animation applies mid-air instead (and I’m guessing the damage and stun along with it).
Earthshaker: Using this skill when rooted (example given was Ranger’s root) results in you being unable to move at all until a charge/leap/jump skill is used (example given was this skill again or sword Leap).

HARPOON GUN

Spread Shot: Will sometimes miss even if both targets are stationary.
Spread Shot: Actual maximum range is shorter than tooltip range.

LONGBOW

Arcing Arrow: If you place the targeting reticule on yourself and dodge immediately after firing, the skill has no effect but still goes on cooldown. unable to verify.
Combustive Shot: If you place the targeting reticule on yourself and dodge immediately after firing, the skill has no effect but still goes on cooldown. Burst skills always go on cooldown if interupted for whatever reason.
Dual Shot: Won’t auto-target on a foe that is 900-1200 units away, even if you have the trait to extend the weapon’s range.
Fan of Fire: Applies 1s burning rather than 2s.

RIFLE

All: Frequent “obstructed” messages when trying to hit moving targets. Most often occurs if shooting up hill, even if the visual effect of the bullet isn’t clipping into terrain/walls. Most noticeable when trying to shoot people from a keep walls in WvW – shots that look perfectly possible come up as obstructed with the rifle, but work fine with the longbow.
All: Unable to break binding roots immoblize effect (tied into the above).
Rifle Butt: Extremely short range/angle. Misses most times unless point blank.
Volley: Quickness starting or ending during the cast/channel (i.e. from a proc or Frenzy coming to an end) will cause the ability to bug out and not do the full amount of shots.

SHIELD

Shield Stance: Duration of buff displayed is incorrect.

SPEAR

Tsunami Slash: Will often send you charging straight past your target. Happens at all ranges.

SWORD

Flurry: Switching to a different weapon while using this skill prevents you from attacking for a few seconds.
Impale: Tooltip damage much higher than actual damage.
Riposte: Tooltip damage much higher than actual damage.
Savage Leap: Doesn’t apply damage if the opponent is lower than you when you start to leap, i.e. leaping off a ledge to hit somebody below you.

1) You should NOT be able to kick people once you are at the end of the dungeon. It is just rude. People should get banned for doing this.

2) You SHOULD be able to kick the party leader without getting the team kicked. I’ve seen party leaders do half the dungeon then just AFK until the rest is beat, and if you kick them, the whole party get’s kicked. It’s lame.

Legendaries: worth getting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mira.4071

Mira.4071

I am mostly ok with the Legendary item requirements barring 2 things:

1- The Precursor. This is ENTIRELY luck based, and I don’t think it should be. Your only options for getting one right now are to get lucky in the Mystic Forge, get lucky by having one drop, or to grind 200g+ to buy one from someone else who got lucky.

2- The Lodestones. Pretty much the same thing as the Precursor. Extremely luck based, and even farming all day long at max Magic Find you might only expect to find 1 or 2 of these in an 8 hour farm session. Figure that you need 200, 300, even 350 for one (non-legendary!!) item and it quickly becomes obvious that the drop rate on Lodestones needs serious tuning. Again, the only alternative is to pay the gold price, as of right now 2.5g per Charged and rising. For those keeping track that’s 875g in materials — just for one of the materials! — for a non-legendary item! (Mjolnir). We’ve officially departed into crazy land…

What would I do to solve it? Pretty simple really. #1 I would just add in a progression route to make guaranteed Precursor. Materials can be hard to get, maybe you need a ton of dungeon tokens or whatever. But it should be something that can actually be worked toward with a goal in sight and is not purely “well gee I just threw 50g into the Mystic Forge and got nothing, oh well back to the drawing board”

As for #2 again I offer a simple solution, make Lodestones drop FAR more commonly, driving prices down to the ~25-50s region and making actually farming them yourself become viable. Alternatively award Lodestones for completing other in-game tasks, maybe doing DEs or dungeon runs guarantees you some.

Everything else about the legendaries isn’t really that big of a deal, its primarily just the precursor and the lodestones. All the other stuff can be worked toward at a steady pace. The precursor and lodestones are pure lottery.

Really hope Anet can do something to reward who play this game fully..
I have done all jumping puzzle.. Gonna get all explorer and soon dungeon master..
Even put some effort to kegmaster.. I have the highest achievement point in my guild without spamming salvaging for these point..

But my gold is much lesser than someone i know who is botting or others who is buying gold..
The legendary imo should be something you challenge yourself to get..
Not something fully depend on how much gold you have..

I am inclined to agree with others in that the massive spike in price really highlights the massive shortage or drops/availablility for players.

I mean think about what you need to make a legendary.
Gift of Fortune:
77 Mystic Clovers (about 250 Ectoplasms )
250 Glob of Ectoplasm
Thats almost 500 (Five HUNDRED) exctoplasms.

Gift of Magic:
250 Vial of Powerful Blood
250 Powerful Venom Sacs
250 Elaborate Totems
250 Pile of Crystalline Dust

Gift of Might:
250 Vicious Fangs
250 Armored Scales
250 Vicious Claws
250 Ancient Bones

Not to mention most of the other gifts REQUIRE 250 of the T6 materials as well.

It does’t requre one or two, or twenty or fourty, but FIVE HUNDRED.
HUNDRED (ectoplasms)
And whats the drop rate on powerful blood? maybe (yes MAYBE)1 an hour.
The list of materials is INSANE.

Now, I havent even brought up the absolutly mind boggling material requirements of the other mystic forge recipes.

I Am glad your getting rid of bots.
But lets go back and re-examine what it is that you expect of players and crafting materials for some of these items.

The Six Gods: Borrowed Power From Dragons

in Lore

Posted by: BrunoBRS.5178

BrunoBRS.5178

“786 BE Humans appear in Cantha for the first time and settle the northern coastline before spreading completely across the continent.”

remember this: with the humans came the human gods. the human gods were not in tyria before the humans, they arrived together. THAT is my proof. if humans came to tyria much after the first elder dragon attack, then so did the gods. and as far as lore takes us, the gods have always been gods, since way before they sat foot in the planet.

“Where does it say that? Yes, the dragons are currently on the continent of Tyria but where is this proof that they have some sort of invisible border they can’t cross?”

so now you’re implying that the gods have been dragging the dragons around, to have their source of power within reach? the dragons were in Tyria for the entirety of humanity’s existence, the human gods couldn’t have possibly absorbed some of that power all the way from cantha, where they were already gods. unless you’re also implying there are more dragons, in which case this ceases to be a lore discussion and becomes a “what if” discussion.

“Grenth was born a half god and gained Dhuum’s power when he defeated him so he wasn’t born with the power he has today.”

how do you overthrow a god? remember that there are only two known cases of this: a group of heroes blessed by the 5 gods to take down a weakened, trapped god, and Grenth, with 7 mortals, taking Dhuum down when Dhuum was in full power, and with no help of the other gods. Grenth wasn’t born human. he was born with the power to become a god. all that was left was taking Dhuum down.

.

you’ve presented a theory: the gods were once humans that harvested the power of the dragons.

i’ve proven your theory wrong: the gods, and the humans, came to the planet Tyria together, with the gods already in their “god status”. it would be hundreds of years until a human god came even close to a sleeping elder dragon (namely, when they sat foot in Orr).

there are hundreds of years where the human gods were gods and weren’t anywhere close to a dragon, and as such, their power does not come from the dragons. theory proven wrong. end of discussion.

Not to flame or hate or anything really, but I’m pretty sure Gods vs Dragons have little or no connection at all.
Also, the “Pale Tree: Melandru” part almost made me not want to read the rest of your post.
Again, not hating or anything, but people really need to stop connecting the Elder Dragons with everything.
I’m almost positive that Anet has said something like, The Elder Dragons aren’t everything.

so what you’re saying is that they sapped that power, then they traded it around like it was some card game?

and my other point stands. the human gods first walked into tyria after the dragons had been put to sleep, and when they got here, they were already gods.

so i’m sorry to say, but your theory is moot.

you’re like the billionth person that tries to tie the elder dragons to the human gods and have to start making flimsy assumptions and broad changes to your own line of thought just to fit.

also you forgot lyssa, who’s the current keeper of the title “god of water”.

also (x2) the human gods were gods before they even got in tyria, and the dragons were around since before the gods showed up.
