DH : “IoJ and DR zeeerg!!!!”, “I beat you 6 DH vs. zerg!”
DR : “DH and IoJ zeeerg!!!!”, “I beat you 6 DR vs. zerg!”
IoJ : “DR and DH zeeerg!!!!”, “I beat you 6 IoJ vs. zerg!”
And there goes the summary of the whole thread…..
Can we just kill each other? LOL!

Power Ranger
Greetings WvW players!
We’ve been working hard at finding a solution to the problem of setting up separate reset times for the European and North American regions and I’m happy to say we’ve accomplished it! Starting next matchup and going forward the North American WvW matchup will reset Friday at 9:00 PM EST, which is 01:00 UTC Saturday, and the European matchup will reset at 18:00 UTC. It’s our hope that this will make for a better experience for everyone.
Cheers!

I think if 8 people stop to /sit on your corpse for 5 minutes, you give yourself a high five for keeping 8 people out of the fight for 5 minutes.
Darn you SF hackers. Seriously how did you guys cross-tier gianormous super uber zergalicious awesomeness hack into our Citadel last night and camp our waypoint and kill our merchants. I couldn’t reload on iron mining picks which serverely hampered my abilities to mine copper all night. I lost out on around 87 copper in profits due to your antics. Why can’t you guys stay in T7. I am so tired of of you cross-tier zerging our citadel. I cannot take it anymore. I so wish I could have found my screen capture button to report you dastardly hackers to Anet. I will get get you next time! /foiled

when i see agg i just take 3 steps to the right. watch them run on by. if only i had a red sheet…
Elementallist: …. low condition removal,…..
I disagree with you, sir.
Okay so running 70 v 30 is the suck and exactly what I had hoped to avoid. Unfortunately, that is unlikely now. It is too easy to look great when you don’t have to do anything really spectacular to win.
To me transfer wins to “SF” our opponents is the bore. My questions is would FC or GoM; depending on who turns out the worse of the two servers after a week or two welcome a commander from ET? I do have an unorthodox style and like to use caps while leading so people know what to do (lets face it not everyone uses TS). Anyway let me know as I wouldn’t want to come over and cause issues.
Gilkin, don’t leave ET. You’re my favorite commander. You are one of two or three commanders that if I see in WvW I will run to join immediately. In all honesty I’m not a huge fan of Agg either but I’m sure at some point they’ll get bored and move on to another server. We could really use you when that time came. And if you do leave, it will be a sad day for everyone on ET.
Best of luck with whichever you decide however.
GoM is fairly laid back about most things. I don’t forsee people getting upset with a commander – in fact the majority of the players are all too happy when one of our commanders takes the reigns and starts issuing orders and coordinating people.
You should, above all things, do what is going to bring you the most fun. That’s how GoM operates. We like doing wvwvw, are fairly active pve wise and are a pretty welcoming community. Most of the wvwvw participants have been here since launch, and refused to leave their home server during the mass transfers over the last few months. This, more than anything else, has really created a pretty tight knit community who enjoys each others company!
If you decide to call GoM home – and this applies to anyone who may be thinking about a transfer – we’ll keep the lights on for ya!
HoD and NSP: Just transfer on over to GoM. You know you want to. We’ll send your old servers a big batch of PvErs. They’re really good at dungeons, fractals, and dragons, but really bad at opening karma temples despite keeping us marked as “Very High” population. I do all my karma shopping over at JQ and TC. :/
I’m not necessarily arguing for a change, at least not without knowing what the alternative would be.
Although, the current system is obscure, arbitrary, and excessively rewarding to exploit or excessively punitive to not exploit.
Lets examine two scenarios – one where a group ignores the obscure system and another where they exploit it.
A guild with 30ish people perfectly executes a surprise attack on an enemy borderland Garrison that has a waypoint. They aren’t seen/scouted en route and quickly melt down both water gates without producing any orange swords on map. However, the enemy server sees the white swords for contested that aren’t normally up, and quickly starts running in defenders that meet the attacking guild in the lord’s room. The attacking guild is able to kill the lord and defeats the defenders as they stream in on foot, but they aren’t able to fully cap the circle quickly enough. Since they are fighting all in the lord’s room to finish the cap (as contested as anything ever should be able to be in truth,) the Garrison defense event ends – and since no one is hitting a door or wall then the waypoint goes back up permanently and an endless stream of rezzing defenders flows in and eventually defeats their attempt to capture Garrison. Total failure.
A guild with 30ish people lets a couple thieves continually do drive-bys on Garrison doors (place has 5 outer doors, no way to stop it) for over 40 minutes. White swords on Garrison and nearly useless waypoint are just a fixture on the map for the defenders, so when the surprise attack occurs, it appears exactly the same on map as if there is no attack at all. When the attacks reach the lord’s room, they find very little response waiting for them – and they send a couple thieves out to attack random doors just to keep the waypoint contested, just to be safe. The few defenders and lord are quickly defeated and Garrison captured easily. Total success.
The thing to keep in mind here is that the difference in tactics/execution has little to do with realistic or even intuitive activities. It’s just a matter of being steeped in obscure details of map and waypoint mechanics – nearly arbitrary code. Who really wants to be the designated door contester for hours on end or the designated door sentry? Might different arbitrary code produce results more intuitive, less obscure, and more fun?
Personally, I think limiting contests to structural damage done only by siege weapons makes a lot of sense intuitively. On the other hand, I also think keeping waypoints 100% locked out between chained contest events makes a lot of intuitive sense, also. Also, attacking a lord or having a contest circle active counting to trigger a defense event and lockout a waypoint seems fairly intuitive as well.
First off congrats on fixing the major issue, a huge step ahead for wvw. But unfortunately the end of culling brought another issue with it, long player tag information+titles making large battles like 50vs50 kinda disappointed from what we had expected, you barely can see enemies behind the front line, their animations, their actions, you can’t even count them as well, they’re obscure by a massive unnecessary text information from above their heads.
It’s like before we couldn’t see much and now we’re seeing too much, it needs to be adjusted. Well the good news is that there is a perfect way to fix that and doesn’t seems to be that hard, at least I believe it’s not, clearly the best way would be:
- Server Name Abbreviation (Shorten)
examples:
Ferguson’s Crossing Assaulter = FC Assaulter
Crystal Desert Recruit = CD Recruit…
- Player Title Below NameTag Removal (for wvw only)
show/hide option if possible
why both? Some might think it would solve the problem removing titles only, but it only would help a little bit actually. The real problem is the full server name especially for the longest ones.
Sorry I know there’s a couple threads like this but no Dev responses makes it even more desperately for one. We know the Dev team is aware of this and hopefully already working to do something but a word on forums about this wouldn’t hurt and would be more then appreciated. Habib? Devon? Matt? Anyone pls?
I can state with moderate certainty that it was not a planned “double team” on NSP. I logged in for a bit to try out the new no culling patch and we were defending a tower from GoM, so apparently those two zergs didn’t know about this team-up.
Please see the screenshots posted of HoD and GoM zergs standing next to each other not attacking, and a player from HoD posting here that he/she is ashamed from their own server.
There isn’t much I can tell from the picture other than lots of red names. But I do see the post, and I stand by my statement that it was not planned, at the very least not by the majority. I’ll throw some other thoughts at you.
A) Why blame the server in it’s entirety for actions of a few? I myself was caught in this same spot one time. Members of a server used an exploit to take a keep, and I went on a tirade saying how the entire server was to blame. Is that right? No. There are both good and bad people on the servers, a small sample does not represent the total. As a side note, we’ve had more than our share of transfers lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if we had some people coming in simply to ruin the reputation of the server. As I said, both good and bad people everywhere.
B) It’s war. It’s a game. If the perceived best course of action for two sides mutual gain is to team up, then that’s going to happen. As I said, when I did log in we were fighting GoM, so obviously we weren’t just ignoring each other as you claim.
I see your frustration and understand it, but it’s foolish and childish to create such drama over this. The majority of people I’ve met in gw2 are grown adults, please act like it.
And move on for goodness sake.
How do you feel about the Great Lord Flame Ram?
Woe befall all who earn its wrath. And great favor to all who show obeisance before the GLFR.

As long as “all of you” is specifically 5 players. no more, no less.

*except when they schedule it.
Honestly, PAXA is like a high maintenance girlfriend. She even comes on the forums to tell everyone how inadequate we are =(
styx i love u and we need to make babies.

Just don’t text her on Friday night when she’s out with her girlfriends until about 9 pm and then be ready to go pick her up from the bar at 11. Sat morning be ready to meet her parents for breakfast and then go to the movies with her after at about 3 pm. That’s all it takes to keep her.
I mean, I could love you, I don’t know, I’ve got a lot of golem rushes on my mind. Can we get a kitten instead? I don’t think your parents think I’m any good at guardian PvP. I mean, I read all the guides but will they ever approve of me? Also, why do I have to defend my borderland at reset when you’re out having fun?
You’re suffocating me!
OF CULLING… it should be The-End-of-culling, not just the end :P
Tons of chars. If only one day I manage to guess how to play any of them, I will post it here
The reason i made the video was because “she” was whispering a lot of people on our side during the fights trying to talk smack which was quite frankly lack luster at best, something that provided us many laughs. Judging by those whispers i decided i better make a video for “her,” made it in 2 minutes and it promoted a reaction which i expected, the screen shots i have of 40+ whispers while i was afk prove it. None of this was done because they were a superior player but because they felt the need to try and troll an entire server because 1 person emoted on their body. That being said im sure were all willing to stop this silly feud, we all know what arguments on the internet are. Each side was trolled by the other so theres no need for anyone to apologize nor to get upset about.
GoM is zerging? im not sure what you mean, do you refer to 10-15 as a zerg? If so then i would be glad you arnt facing DH or any of the higher tiers, we on GoM fight the way as individual players want to fight, if that means a bunch of us from different guilds want to hang out and play together then thats what well do. Its like if i were to seriously complain about all the times i get steam rolled by the paxa 5 man when im by myself, why should i force people to play how i want to play?
Concerning not having fair fights, if you’re trying to find a fair fight at NA primetime then it doesnt matter what server you’re on you probably wont find one, the closest fair fights i would say would be GoM [RH], HoD [GT] and HoD [PAXA]. I would suggest going to spvp and tpvp but i understand there are limitations playing that game style. Have you ever tried arranging fights with other small groups by using the forums? Just come on here, post which BL youll be in that night and then you can all fight each other, wouldnt that be easier than complaining about zerging?
Speaking for myself, the last thing i want to do is to go fair fight a thief or a mesmer because quite frankly thats hard lol, engineers tend to have a tough time due to class limitations ( there is a reason why you see so few of us). Just dont make me fight whiterose again…clones, confusion stacks then she stealthed and went back to near full hp >.> what a pain.
In the end we all play this game to have fun, were all having fun over here on GoM, if not for you then that sucks but theres not much we can do. We only troll to counter other trolls. Hopefully we can just get on with it, i cant speak for my server but ill stop corpse jumping until hacker feels the need to…um…“leaf bag” my corpse or try to talk smack again. Either way it doesnt affect me in the slightest.

This thread was so much better when it was just about ARM.
We’re not disagreeing with you Nausicca. Every PAXA post thus far has been condemning players that follow commanders and take objectives though. They seem to be of the opinion that servers do not have scores and that the only objective in WvW is killing players.
Because people get (Im going to spell it wrong on purpose so you see the word choice im using) buttzzzzhurtzzzz in this game when I speak for “PAXA” I will make sure I use the word I instead of we….I have these opinions because the server score means jack kitten. You win, you move up to the bottom of another meaningless tier’s score. Maybe more people? Maybe a couple better fights? Not really. You stay in months and months with same tier? Score means physically nothing. You’re fighting for meaningless points that hold ZERO merit. Top tier bragging rights? WRONG, top tiers have 80+ man zergs……how does that make them a better, tougher tier? It doesnt, just more people. PERIOD. Hate to break this fun fact to you Mr. ULT, most of the blue doritos out there are terribad players, with no experience of gaming…….but they know how to /map chat “guys my dorito is up, follow me to this wooden door” and people go. If they succeed in taking the tower, their a hero, if they loose, failure. Point is anyone could save up 100 gold (and “anyone” has) and gather 25 people to run around mindlessly taking wooden doors down. Not anyone can win even fair fights….
Alright then, like titanlectro said, we have completely different outakes on the type of game we are playing. Continue doing what you do and I’ll continue to do what I do. Just stop criticizing everyone else for not playing Jscull’s version of WvW.
Roamer and Troll
GoM→NSP→AR→NSP→GoM
Trolling isn’t my goal, making you and robert eat kitten for the crap and slander of other nsp’ers you throw on here daily little girl… Is.
Paxa would greatly benefit from applying some discipline to its members’ postings, some of them make you all look quite bad… and have been for months.

Still no wardrobe/cosmetic slots, so still no reason to waste money on “town clothes”.
I always put on my riding gear before going out for a walk.
Transfer to a lower tier. Just like queues, zerg vs zerg is a problem that is created by players. When everyone chooses to stack on the same handful of servers (some more than others) it’s inevitable that the maps become crowded and the only way to compete with your opposition is to bring a zerg as big or bigger than theirs. In lower tier servers (with less players in general) there is still a vigorous competition (scores are largely determined by coverage rather than skill or absence of competition) but the number of people spread across the four maps is smaller.
There are still zergs, they are just smaller and more managable zergs (and certainly less frequent – there are zergs to capture sentries in tier one), and they can’t be everywhere at once. In the lower tiers there is a lot more of an opportunity for organised groups and guilds to capture or defend objectives and have solid lag free clashes with opposing forces without having to worry about sheer numbers stampeding over them.
Just because WvW can have 100+ people on every map doesn’t mean having that many people offers the best experience. Players got obsessed chasing the “glory” of tier one wins (or wins in general) and they all transferred to the same handful of servers hoping to create the greatest number advantage (or at least compete with another server’s numbers advantage). Very few people I know in WvW loved the giant zerg clashes more than anything else (three way fights for Stonemist are the opposite of fun, you’d be better off logging out and watching a movie instead of watching your skill bar freeze) and culling and stealth exploiting get worse with zerg combat. Join a lower tier server and you will notice your guild is able to capture objectives and have very enjoyable and competitive fights with opposing players and guilds without having to worry about zerg balls of culling, lag, instant death and AoE spam.
Honestly, most of the people complaining about a zerg vs zerg meta are creating the problem by stacking on the same handful of servers. This isn’t as big an issue in the lower tiers.
So finally I find some people in this stupid game to fight.
Also note to all of NSP my new casual look, I decided the tryhard assassin look that most thieves use is too overdone and its getting sunnier so now I must take my raincoat off. I now sport a sleek shirt from the old navy and $355.43 puff daddy jeans with velcro $5 shoes. My guildname is Worst Thief N A [BAD], because as you all know I am the worst thief in north america
Hey remember that one time where we had a 1v1 and you used an elite but I didn’t use an elite but to be fair you didn’t use your utilities but I did use my utilities and it was in the water and all the krait were on me and you stealthed but when you came out of stealth the quaggons were on you and the mosquitoes were in the distance and a zerg ran by single file and bowed one at a time and then together we dueled them and won?
That was a pretty good time.

That’s cute. Kinda’ like a home invasion when the owner is at work.
I’d be more impressed if there were actually…oh I don’t know…people there to at least wave at your zergs as they power through the emptied borderlands, keeps and towers.
We’ve been horrible hosts to you all from NSP – and for that we apologize. GoM and HoD will try to be much better about being at home to receive visitors in the future.
Love
Us.
Are you suggesting that we wait for you to come online before fighting.
Sorry.
But the map was all blue this morning, when we were sleeping. No, no…nothing of the sort. I just think it’s adorable when people get excited about steamrolling empty battlegrounds. It’s cute.
As for some PvD action. Loool
Afk on the forums in GoM keep, opened it up to this. ^__^
Oh, don’t mind them. They are just our spies and hackers. Please proceed with your door smashing!
Oh wow lol what just happened
Usual MMORPG developer thinking:
“Let’s make this character bound so that our players can have fun developing many characters through this system.”
Actual player thinking:
“I’m bored of this class. I think I’ll level up something new. Wait. It’s going to take me 6 months now to get to where my main is and while I’m doing this my main is going to fall behind. That’s not fun and I’m tired of my main. I quit.”
Every.
Game.
Ever.
