You had better believe it! Which is a yes.
Maybe we should wait until we see things implemented before we make demands that make us look silly due to insufficient information.
The OP is wrong here.
They’re called Black Lion Chests remember? Evon’s company does, in fact, make them. Do you honestly believe he’s not so devious as to seed those chests throughout Tyria for no other reason than to sell the matching keys?

durability is not a concern as I use the earth elemental to tank for me
This line is disturbing.
Similarly to how WvW grants bonuses to player in PvE, some PvE content that can be done to support players in WvW.
If I had the ability to take part in some massive PvE event, and then head to WvW and see that my actions have awakened a dragon which is attacking an enemy keep, that would be interesting. Being able to do something free of human-controlled enemies and see it directly help my allies in WvW.
Nop , not too much rewards , i played GW1 for seven years and I am now rewarded accordingly. You want it ? do the same , buy Gw1 and earn your titles period.
Play Guild Wars 1 to rank in Guild Wars 2… No thank you and i shouldn’t have too. This is a giant middle finger to anyone who wants to be AP competitive on Guild Wars 2 but has not played the previous game.
how do you expect new players to be AP competitive ? How about the players who will buy the game in 2 years ?? when you are late to the party you are late …..thank you.
you are so focused on driving wvw into a mindless zerging siege fest.
Do you even realize that siege like arrow carts are an anti-zerg mechanic.
If your guild has the most people in the circle when you captured the objective (let’s say camp), your guild can claim it first. Others guilds have to wait 3 (NOT 5) minutes before they can claim, so when the Supervisor’s buff reaches 2 min., you can claim it.
Oh, I don’t really use the TP as a money maker, aside from using it to sell loot at a higher price than I’d get at the vendor for it. But observing how people make decisions to buy and sell and understanding the psychology behind it all is quite fascinating.
So now that achievement points have a value beyond some kind of arbitrary gauge of character progression and activity, can we have WvW achievement points overhauled (retroactively?) that gives a more accurate reflection of time spent doing it?
Out of hundreds of hours spent in WvW and thousands upon thousands of kills representing enormous amount of effort, I have less achievement points to show for it than 2 hours spent maxing two crafting skills.
It would be nice to be appropriately rewarded for our efforts since the system is HEAVILY skewed towards certain activities (basically anything not having to do with WvW).
So it’s like this.
Developers have plans. Sometimes these plans have good intentions but are implemented poorly. For example Elementalist may have been a “jack of all trades” character that had mobility, utility, bit of support (healing), and boons at the cost of health and having the lowest armor type. It was all a pretty strong and competitive package especially when in a 0/10/0/30/30 spec which became dominate.
They’re “gambling” on the concept that the only reason people didn’t play other specs was because the dominate spec was too good and no other specs could exist. However over time, in what can only be presumed is a plan to get Elementalists to spec in different areas, we’ve seen losses (nerfs) to our healing, utility, mobility and boons and zero gains to our survivability elsewhere. Unfortunately the problem is, and I say this as a person who plays multiple specs and swaps around, the REAL reason why people gyrated towards a 0/x/0/20/20 style builds was because the other trees (Fire, Air, Earth) were/are a mess. Consequently, they fix Air and Earth and you see a lot more builds going more points into them.
Unfortunately developers never admit to making mistakes design wise.
So now we’re left with this mess of a character that had a good amount of it’s core ripped out or reduced to the point of being almost entirely ineffective (the jack of all trades part) without anything to really replace it (no HP increases, no armor increases). The other few trees they fixed are more viable but ultimately the character as a whole is still weaker for it. Think of it like they were playing Jenga with the Elementalist class and they’ve removed so many blocks that we’re literally a husk of what we once were as a class…still standing…but no one ever replaced the blocks they took out.
The grim part is that based on how long it took them to even address our trait lines (and they largely skipped entirely over Fire) it will be probably another half of a year or longer before they even think about addressing the issues that resulted from their playing around with the Elementalist class design. They will claim the notion they want to give things time to see how it all pans out but anyone who plays multiple classes can see that other than staff fields there is literally nothing we do that can’t be done better by another class.
Save yourself some headache and just settle into another character if you’re intent on sticking it out.

The Forum Warrior has the highest skill ceiling, with all the other classes not even close.
Forum Warrior’s have to delicately balance their trolling to perfection so as not to be perma-banned from the forums, while also maintaining a steady stream of posts that cause damage-over-time. Besides, no other class in the game faces the possibility of perma-death, so this alone makes the Forum Warrior the hardest class to play. So while it’s true that the Forum Warrior has the highest dps with his condition spamming dot spec, his dps requires a glass cannon build with very little room for error.
by level 80 should have the best statistical loot in the game.
We want everyone on an equal power base.”
Guys, the OP is asking for the highest skill ceiling. Not “Which class is hardest to do well at”.
What he wants is “which of the eight classes has the highest potential when played at the maximum level” (or simply ‘which is the hardest to master’)
I know a lot of people will dismiss Zacchary’s claim since ‘Thieves are so easy to do well at’ but that’s not the question. Oddly enough he kind of hit the mark (even though his post was clearly meant to convey something else), because Thieves are one of the professions with a higher skill-cap.
If you want my opinion, the hardest is the Engineer, by far.
(On an off topic note my Thief is face-roll in WvW, contrary to what Zacchary said. It’s super easy to do well.)
Edit: Read the title of this thread. Skill ceiling
(edited by Sunflowers.1729)
while we’re at it, let’s remove all abilities that allow all classes to escape. Like invisibility off thieves and endure pain off warriors -_-
Easy guys, this is starting to flirt with the line between casual trolling/poking and genuine QQing.
I’ll say this much… I refuse to take anyone from SF (my server) seriously if they complain about GoM night capping. DH and IoJ kitten SLAPPED us when it came to night coverage. GoM you have a good night crew no doubt, but there’s a reason our ascent of tiers came to a screeching halt: night coverage. With school out it’s slightly different, but basically it means we went from, liberally, maybe 30 spread out, to 60. SF is an NA time zone server. DR knows what it’s like (kitten YOU IOJ).
One the same note, DR maintains a well upgraded territory. We, SF, have a tendency to lose well upgraded keeps rather frequently. This just makes it all the more harder for those brave souls that choose to WvW instead of farming CoF during NA off hours.
We’ve lost a good amount of players to recent PVE content as far as WvW goes. At the same time there’s been more server coordination and zergball tactics outside of the guilds that really represented it (KING and PVP come to mind mainly). At this time this match up serves as a great arena to practice this sort of approach. All servers involved are, imo, at a similar level of execution when it comes to large numbers (30+ basically) tactics. Most active, decent sized, WvW guilds can field an in guild 20 man group. 30+ is when it gets to a more “server/pug” characteristic of zergs. In that sense us as a server recently have improved greatly. I hope that facing our groups has inspired and promoted your own learning and growth.
There’s very little outside of “buying” an oceanic guild that we can do about coverage. Most oceanic orientated guilds in NA are established in higher tier servers. I’m sure this is a pain felt by many of the lower tier servers. No point QQing. Just gotta work with what you have. As such what we have is a close, competitive match up thats been very enjoyable. Lets see what the randomness has in store for us next week. We may be looking back at this match up very fondly after reset.
SF
Frosura master race
inb4 just another fluff content release that will disappear after 2 weeks
Sadly i think so too… All you can do with it is destroy some paper pinatas of the ship to get some candy… And then 1 week later its all gone
But seriously, i hope it is a new dungeon. PERMANENT one aswell. The new steampunk armor is probably the dungeon armor. Seems logical, but you never one with Anets: “The world is ALIVE!! OMG; Things dissapear after a week! ITS SO REAL!”
Blamethrower, 1200 range. Enemies target each other for 1 seconds. + 0.1 seconds for every infraction you’ve gained on forums without being banned.
Wascalizer: Enemy turned into a wabbit and a big cawwot dwops out of the air on them (similar effect to Dwagon’s Tooth). Any chat for the next 60 secs the letter “r” is replaced with “w”.
Breathalizer: Enemy can only move forward in a straight line in the direction they were already facing for 5 seconds. If they change direction they are stunned for 2 seconds.
Bubblewrapper: Big bubblewrap appears and enemies cannot hurt you for 3 seconds. However, you cannot move as you’re distracted bursting the bubbles.
Club o’ Clubs: Anything the target types in team or map chat for the next 30 seconds comes out as “Oontz”.
Nope. I’ve never played Paranoia. Nuh uh.

Midnight Mayhem
I made (or contributed) to several posts that were moved to the general Suggestions subforum, however in mot cases they got lost there very fast, having them moved away from WvW subform ended discussion of the suggestion nearly immediately.
So i am always a bit undecided when I see a post being moved to general Suggestions.
- is this like a promotion (moderator saw it as valuable proposal)
- is this like a move to trash (move it out of the sight to end the discussion)
Now that we have several WvW sub forums how about one for
“WvW Suggestions”?
(edited by Dayra.7405)
This is a post I made yesterday that is relivant to this discussion.
The point of WvW is not PPT or score, it is rating.
- If you fight a stronger opponent and hold your own (while losing PPT), you will gain rating.
- If you fight a weaker opponent and win by only a little (while winning the PPT), you will lose rating.
If you randomly get assigned an opponent that is too strong for you, you are not doomed. Instead, this is a great chance to steal some of their rating points. If you randomly get assigned to a weaker tier, be careful not to let your guard down, or you might lose rating.
Every battle has meaning now.
There is always the opportunity for success, even against impossible odds. This will become the new meta, it is just a matter of time before everyone realizes it.
Why would you call this a bad thing?
Because it is not tracked in game in a visable way. Again lower tier (if they are like mine) servers have more marginal players which turn out for WvW when there it seems their participation will make a difference. If it does not there is always PvE.
Rating is not an explicit in game stat. like the score is. Explaining it is kinda pointless because it is often counter intuitive, and it is mostly the WvW involved players that will check mos.millenium.org and understand the rating system.
With matchups where you are getting beat into the ground, yet gaining rating, there is all these marginal players see is the score, so they are less motivated to turn out, which means we will be consistantly outnumbered (often by quite a bit) and have a problem drawing more people into liking WvW in general. You can not sustain ratings on that.
The following was a good response to that post.
That is a very good point. Perhaps Anet could build this into the GUI. If the ranks, ratings and rating changes were all easily visible, that would probably change peoples’ perspectives. They could even take it a step further, and show the average PPT needed to maintain your current rating, thus setting a reasonable goal in players minds.
Instead of thinking:
“We suck and this is hopeless.”
or “We are dominating this is pointlessly easy.”They might instead think:
“We are fighting a server three ranks ahead of us and gaining rating, GJ guys!”
or “We might be winning, but we are losing rating to these guys three ranks below us.”

Love to WvW? Love facing huge Zergs and collecting Badges and Wxp?
Then come to GoM and help us push back against the mindless masses of DH! Enjoy permanent outmanned buff in DH BL, EB , and your own borderland!
Bored after wiping one Zerg on your current servers and wishing another one would show up? Then give GoM a try! The Zerg’s never ever end. And just when you think you push back a DH Zerg, another one will come. Two Zergs for the price of one!
But wait, there is more! Love farming Golems? GoM BL is full of them, not only Alphas here folks, we have Golem Zergs filled with Omegas Too!!! Twice the Golem, all the time.
And YOU get all this for the low price of 1800 gems.!!!
*disclaimer: similar experiences can also be experienced on NSP server.
This is a limited time offer. Not all experiences will be similar. These views are not the views of Anet and NCsoft.
DH BL is know to be deadly to roamers by the states of California. Zergs are to be expected. One solo roamed will generate a 15 man Zerg. Tea bagging and taunting has been associated with DH BL defenders.
In all honesty DH has been giving GoM a very tough challenge. We need more players. Come to GoM, and enjoy your stay!

Everyone knows that the true key to the sandwichmancer class is the bread. New weapon confirmed! Ciabatta!
sigh
Are you serious?
Ciabatta is well known to be completely OP in ALL formats. Then, you put it on a class (sandwichmancer) which is inherently OP in and of itself?
Ill just say this pre-emptively; NERF THE SANDWICHMANCER. They shouldnt be able to make delicious sandwiches AND eat them too… Completely ridiculous…
I quit.

NEVER FORGET
We are always adding new items to the gemstore and plan to do so. I have my own plans for the goldsellers, they just don’t know I’m coming for them yet.
Seems a lot of people don’t understand Glicko or the concept behind it.
Even though your server may be winning or losing by a large margin currenty, that does not mean you are gaining or losing points necessarily.
A lot of the servers in this thread complaining about being dominated are actually gaining a large number of points because they are doing a lot better than Glicko expects them to do.
That is the beauty of mixing the matchups up a little. To see how your server performs against a different higher or lower rated server and if you perform better or worse than expected than you will rise or fall accordingly.
As of this post, SOS is losing their tier but gaining a hefty 63 points to their rating. Because they are performing a LOT better than Glicko expects them to against those two higher rated servers.
>Plays in the top tier servers
>Complains about lag
Good logic!
T7 server here and i could not be more happy with WvW.
Do you guys realise theirs servers in t8 t7 t6 that could really use the population or coverage boost with a bonus of no lag?
The commando class is rumoured to be released after the sandwichmancer.
