I don’t know what you are talking about. Arenanet devs are always communicating with us. Look at the numerous interviews and podcast appearances they do.
One of the final bosses in Sorrows Embrace makes a Terminator reference while he sinks into the lava.
I love this one.
A great one is Tybalt in the personal stories sets up apples as explosive and references the ‘this is not meth’ scene in Breaking Bad.
Congratulations, I’m surprised at how many people have played 1000 hours. I’m about half that myself and I play quite a lot.
Game has been growing and doing well.
I think that removing the cooldown on weapon switching would increase the skill ceiling on combat and make it more fun.
Due to the cooldown on weapon switching right you aren’t really using two weapons, you are using one weapon then switching to another to blow its cooldowns while you wait to switch back.
If you removed the cooldown you can switch to different weapons to use specific skills when needed, this would increase the possibilities of combos and chains dramatically.
There would have to be changes skills to skill and items but I think the change would be extremely beneficial.
What are you talking about ArenaNet haven’t let anyone down. People are demanding minipets to be free now?
Favourite: Meteorlogicus, I know this isn’t the most popular legendary but I think this has the best artwork. It looks amazing it just lacks in the effects.
Least Favourite: Twilight/Sunrise, I think it actually looks very cool and the concept is amazing but everyone and their dog is going for this legendary.
I don’t think CoF P3 is too hard, I think its right where it is. People just need to learn how to do it. Maybe if there was some mechanic like bonus exp for monsters for dungeons as well, like if you don’t do one path for a while you get bonus tokens, karma exp, etc.
I love tower defense minigames from WC3 and Toypocalypse reawakened it for me. It’s about time we started protecting Dolyaks. Took me a few tries but got the Toypocalypse cancelled achievement.
Congrats to ArenaNet.
Yes I agree, things would be a lot better if you could use legendaries on different characters. We already did the work for it, theres no reason why we shouldn’t be able to use it on different characters.
Congrats ArenaNet, well deserved.
Are there any videos of these? I’d love to watch to hear what the songs are supposed to sound like.
I was running around in Lornar’s Pass and saw a merchant selling a luck potion. I bought it thinking maybe I would get a mf buff or something. I used it and it gave me rotten luck and when I spoke to the npc again, she turned into an event started and she attacked me.
After I defeated her she said a few things and I went on my way. I then went to this statue of grenth skill point which looked absolutely beautiful. As I was admiring the beauty I was ambushed by another member of Modus Sceleris who I noticed the mesmer at the beginning was also a part off.
I was absolutely surprised and after playing this game for so long there are still things like this I had no idea existed.
Man that is cool.
Grateful player here as well. ArenaNets events are second to none.
What happens when the 15 minute timer is up?
I would prefer it if ArenaNet revealed events one at a time as well.
I think it would be cool if Dynamic Events that haven’t been done in a while get the same kind of bonus exp monsters do.
It would encourage players to do events that aren’t commonly done.
I hope its not insanely twitch based being from Australia i never as to yet got the Sunset cove JP ever done, because of lag issues and ping times, i had to get a friendly mes help me out in the end it was just too impossible with lag symptoms..
I’m also from Australasia and Skipping Stones is not a problem. Ping doesn’t factor into it.
Awesome thread, laughed my kitten off at some of those gifs.
Can someone explain to me exactly what happens during the golem boss and then explain how we are supposed to defeat it?
Thanks.
Everything is accountbound accept bloodstone shards and crystals/philosopher stones.
You can make all the items across any number of alts but when making the gift of mastery it has to be done n the character with the bloodstone shard. Once made, the gift of mastery can then be moved.
In essence you can gather all the mat across your characters and move the weapon to your main.
Thanks, just to confirm I read it right. I basically don’t need to worry about which character I use to collect the materials, the only tricky one would be the gift of mastery but even that can be moved?
Does the precursor need a certain sigil or will anyone do?
Hello, could someone list what components can be obtained on one character and which components must be obtained by the character that will be equipping the legendary?
For instance can I farm all the karma I need on my Ranger and then buy the stuff and transfer it to my Guardian which will be using the legendary?
Thank you.
You will have to start over.
The skill Zealot’s Embrace shoots out a wave that damages and cripples in a straight line but this can be quite hard to aim, I think this should have a ground targeting icon that is a straight line.
1) How long does it last? It says 4 seconds but the bubble disappears in about 2.
2) Does activating the skill cause you to block melee attacks? Or does it just stop projectiles?
Thank you.
I haven’t seen anything to this effect.
Philosophically I don’t have anything against it, but it seems to go against the TP-oriented nature of the game.
Oh I never thought of that, what I actually meant was that you can’t sell it but you can transfer it between different characters, because I like playing a Ranger and I want Twilight but I don’t really use the greatsword on the Ranger.
I’m leveling up an Asura as well and I like the class but for some weapons that I want like the legendary scepter, I wonder if it will be too small.
I don’t see why we can’t just swamp legendaries around characters, we earned it we deserve to use it on whatever char we want.
I see some people taking issues with Ascended gear, I dislike gear progression in MMOs but this really is a non issue because Ascended gear isn’t very powerful but more importantly it doesn’t stop you from experiencing content at all.
I’ve played a ridiculous amount of GW2, more than any game I’ve ever played and I’m still playing as much as ever.
GW2 is the only game I’ve played where I can just log in and play, normally it takes me a long time procrastinating until I get around to playing a game.
GW2 is still one of the most played games out there right now. Even with the launch of some very good titles.

I could be imagining this but I’m pretty sure I read that there are plans to make Legendaries account bound, this makes a lot of sense.
If this is the case is there any time frame on this?
I know that weapons are scaled down to the size of the different races but I think weapons on the Asura should be bigger, right now its kind of hard to see a lot of the weapons.
ArenaNet don’t get the credit they deserve when it comes to this issue. Everyone was overreacting about bots when the game launched, I saw a few bots in my time but all I did was report them and move on.
I haven’t seen a bot in a long time, all the people who were vehemently complaining aren’t expressing the same magnitude of expression in terms of gratefulness now.
So thanks ArenaNet, keep up the good work.
Ok, after looking through I’ve decided I’m going to get the HOTW bone helmet. It’s a bear skull, how kitten is that.
Whenever I play games I love to equip myself with bone armour, I love anything that has bone or some sort of natural armour.
Currently I have the halloween bull shoulder skin, one more run and I’ll have the medium armour bone dragon coat that looks awesome.
My bow is the Bow of the Pale Stag.
It seems light and heavy have most of the cool bone armour skins, so can anyone recommend what ‘’bone armour’’ I can equip for other slots, especially back slot and helmet.
Thanks.
My server is in tier 1 this week and is kicking the other servers kitten This is awesome but the problem is that the other servers camp the jumping puzzle non stop. I’m aware this is PVP and that it is perfectly viable for them to do that.
The problem is I need Badges of Honor and getting them through normal PVP takes a long time.
What should be done is to increase the time you can be stealthed by the stealth shrines so that you can make it through the entire jumping puzzle without being detected if you are quick. Right now its possible if you are quick with an Elementalist or something but I think we should be given more leeway.
Or make Badges of Honor drop more consistently.
You have to capture the Melandru temple.
I think it’s on by default because it is a consistent action with many other games. Double-tap to dodge is hardly anything new, most beat’em ups feature it, too.
And to be fair, I’ve seen newbies get to grips with the intuitive idea of double-tapping to rapidly dodge away much better than having to learn another key for it (since they’re usually still busy getting a feel for which action slot does what for which situation).
From a welcome-a-newcomer perspective it seems smarter.
What I’d do is add a popup-hint at say… lvl15 (after the first zone!) that you can disable that, which makes careful jumps and precise movement much easier, and then say where to disable it.
First thing I’d like to say is nice signature, Terry Pratchett is awesome.
In regards to the topic, I can see how double tap is more intuitive but its much too slow and clumsy. In dungeons, pvp etc double tap to dodge simply isn’t fast enough.
Players shouldn’t develop bad habits because at first it is more intuitive. Later on it will be much harder to change.
I’m not sure why double tap to dodge is on by default but it seems from watching videos that a lot of people think this is how they should be dodging resulting in slower dodging and dodging off edges in jumping puzzles.
I think this promotes bad play as it takes about 2-3 times longer to dodge and you cannot move correctly at the same time.
I’m sure there are some people that like it but I don’t believe it should be the default as it teaches new players bad habits.
Well done Arenanet.
Absolutely, it would have been worth it without the loot but the loot is an exclamation point.
I’ve stayed up for all the events so far and it’s been so much fun, fighting the karka and colonising the island.
The best part though has been the cliffside fractal, when the colossus bows to you and walks off into the mists is simply stunning.
Nice work Arenanet.
There are a lot of frivolous complaints but this one has to be near the top.
Not only is it not griefing but it’s a valid tactic. Guess what is at the top of the jumping puzzle? Siege equipment and guess what you need to build to siege buildings?
Loved it, it took me to areas I hadn’t been to before and I figured out some of the clues myself.
It was interesting to read all the stories, most of all the book is really cool. I did it on all four of my characters.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that likes Magister Tassi. I can just imagine her being swarmed by baby Quaggans wanting candy when she is trying to complete her work.
I wish I could choose her as my mentor. Anyone know the name of the voice actor?
The Clock Tower is amazing, loved doing it with other people. There is a sense of camaraderie when working together to figure it out.
Josh you did an amazing job. Running the jumping puzzle with other players wasn’t an issue, they really didn’t get in the way its just another thing for people to blame for their lack of skill.
Please do more puzzles like this in the future where we are doing it with other players.
The event blew me away.
The only thing stopping sharks from taking over was that they couldn’t live on land. I for one welcome our new shark overlords.
