People who came from GW1 will understand. I don’t expect the rest of you folks who defend them to get it.
Yes. you can see it this way. But that is your problem. I come from GW1 and played WoW. That’s why I know exactly what a real treadmill is. kitten it, in the time GW2 adds 1 new gear, real treadmill-games add a thousand of them.
And still, you don’t need ascended gear, unless you do fractals. But fractals are a grind themselves … by design, intentionally.
Get (over) it or stop playing, please. If ascended gear was there from the release (as it was planned if we can believe the PR of this company), then nobody would cry.

I already said why there is no itemspiral yet. You might find an argument against mine instead of capslock kitten all over the place
With ascended weapons, legendary boost, and ascended gear is there a itemspiral..
None at all. Please consider my kitten argument.
What the hell have infusions to do with a treadmill? They’re a part of ascended gear, so they can’t be seen disconnected from then.
Legendaries just get the ascended quality … as it should be. So there is nothing above → no treadmill yet.

I explained why this game has no treadmill (yet), but you refuse to understand it.
And @ leo paul
No, exotics will be fine. The difference isn’t that big.
If you can’t handle the direction of this game or if you believe your wrong treadmill interpretation, then you might quit.
Ascended gear is one new gear type. It’s out for near a year now and we still don’t have all slots. That is no treadmill at all. If you want to see how a treadmill really feels, go play a game which has one as an endgame feature.
I don’t see a reason for that at all. Removing the stack by putting the weapon with the sigil into the inventory would simplify the game in a negative way.

As much as I love your work, Josh Foreman, I really can’t stand the fact that you guys created a ridiculously difficult and time consuming mode (don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing actually) while “time consuming” is a contradiction to “temporary content” in my opinion. So as long as SAB is temporary, this hard mode gets even harder due to a cheap time limit. That annoys me :/. Is it temporary to begin with? I bet it is.
“Cheap” is actually a good cue: SAB is – to a certain extent – a throwback to the 80s / 90s of gaming. Many games were pretty hard, but not necessarily because the developer wanted to challenge the player but to “hide” the short length of the game. Even “worse”, high difficulties were often achieved through ridiculously unfair mechanics, trial&error or whatever and some games were only beatable by memorizing every single bit of it. So what can I expect? A extremely hard version of SAB or … a tribute to those old ways of difficulty? A mix of both? Don’t get me wrong. I’d like both, because that would be also a point, but I have to prepare myself. My body has to be ready, you know :P
So my weaponsmith is actually level 19 and I don’t have any motivation to neither level him to 80 nor to level weaponsmith to 500 with one of my 4 80’s. I figured that it would be possible to craft and give the weapons to my other characters just like legendary gifts for example.
But I still am anxious about this. Will I be able to craft ascended weapons with my low level character and give the crafted weapons to my other characters?
I don’t know and care if that is sad.
But would you please stop the contradiction? SAB is no minigame, especially if you refer to it as a “Mario style game”. It’s a game in a game called GW2, because a small team wanted to do it and is allowed to do it in a great company that is Arenanet (in this regard). It’s not as if it doesn’t fit at all, because a interactive zone for asuras so they can learn … doesn’t sound that off.
Yes, I want to see the hardcore content dungeon revamp raids elder dragons, too, but I don’t mind the existence of a great addition that SAB is. Funny thing is that SAB is (going to be) more “hardcore” than most of the dungeons; not only because of the hard mode … THAT is sad, but is the consequence we get considering anet ignoring a big part of their playerbase.
We get dungeon revamps through Living Story, so we have to wait. We have to wait until Anet wakes up from this horrible, horrible dream. If early 2014 sucks, then it’s the end.
You exaggerate by miles. Stick with exotics, then. It wll be fine for sure. And I can’t take your take on the manifesto serious … everyone knows that it was PR-Bullkitten. No grind? No way. But still, most of the grind in this game is optional even now!
If you want to surive in high(er) level fractals, then yes, it is a grind. But fractals are a grind themself.
No, I still don’t see it. In many fights, you are always changing the weapons between 2h and 2 1h … so if you get hit while you have the 2h on you, it might hurt a little bit more, so be prepared and have your other set or … how about avoiding it?
Yes, there are classes which can’t wep swap so they might be stuck with a single 2h weapon, but come on … an ele for example has enough to counter this.
I don’t think it is a balance issue. I actually think it IS balanced this way. As I said, 2 weapons are more than 1.
But before we discuss this for no reason, let’s see how it will work in the end.
(edited by Acerola.6407)
I honestly don’t see a big problem in this (since release … considering all the “2h weps only have one sigil slot”-flames in spvp). You know … 2 weapons are more than 1. You gotta deal with it imo!
Crafting goes up to 500 … in all weapon-creating disciplines. We will be able to craft some nice ascended weapons, but there is no word found about precursors? I bet many, like me, thought that crafting the precursor comes with the introduction of ascended weapon crafting. So now I’m very baffled. Anything to say about this, Arenanet? Does it come later or don’t you want to spoil it?
No, not yet. Additionally, she is going to research the reactor in Province Metrica (it was a huge explosion) not the molten facility.
This will come as a fractal towards the end of the year. Molten Facility AND the Aetherblade dungeon will come back as fractals, too.
We can only hope that those additions to the fractal rotation means a huge, huge reward revamp for high level fractals.
so does this mean that legendaries and ascended weapons will have an offensive infusion slot AND a sigil slot, because I really don’t want to give up my sigil for AR …
ColinJohansonWe’ll be continuing to permanently update our dungeons and rewards for dungeons this year and beyond, these updates will be part of living world releases in the future as well as we expand the scope of living world releases to include more permanent updates to the game.
lol. You do find funny things looking through this subforum!
I’m sure they will announce crazy dungeon-news and crazy challenging content with their LFG tool! Something … compelling!
sry I’m just frustrated and realized way too late.
NOOOOO, aaaaaaaaaah! I CAN’T STAND THIS!
This hurts so much … ;_;
So GW2 is built for mindless zerg events only? Well, that is rather disappointing, then. I love GW2 and I play it since release nearly every day. I see myself of someone like the “critical fanboy” xD.
Since then I’m waiting for this little bit of “more” which this game seems to be lacking. I think that my patience is nearly over, unfortunately. Let’s see what “surprise” they have for WvW players today. Oh dear.
(edited by Acerola.6407)
So what?
Rift has something similar and Arenanet should be able to do this, especially for the 1 year anniversary. I’m not saying that it has to be the way you described it. I’m saying that spawning mobs which wait for us was bad at launch and still is in this release.
I mean, Arenanet spawns a few random mobs within red circles … and guess what? They wait for us to invade the map ourselves and farm them. Just like those dangerouuuuus~ dragons!
That’s what we get ahead of the 1 year anniversary? Oh, come on! You can do better … you should be able to, really!
“It’s a story that really affects the entire world and permanently creates content and change for the entire world game-wide, which is really something that’s important to us and we want to showcase that that’s where stuff is headed.”
Well, it might “affect” the world, but to what extent? There is no CONSEQUENCE in failing the event or even completely ignoring it I guess. Why is that? What’s the point, then? That’s not a living world. It’s static. So it’s kinda ironic that Arenanet thinks that a new event-type is “content” which “change […] the entire world” when it actually doesn’t do anything besides waiting for us to kill all the farm. Is it because you don’t have enough time to make all these mobs invade the maps and change things there? Or are you lazy? I don’t understand you anymore, Arenanet
Well, I see that Arenanet throws all materials (t1-6 -> t7) and much gold at us, so we can go buy some t6 mats. More people have a base for crafting 400 to 500, then.
Hmm, I start to guess that the Queen’s speech will be about an actual revamp of all dungeons at once, including the token rewards. I can’t explain arenanet’s absence otherwise anymore …
Push because we better have more than one thread about this up there
I thought I might push this again …
As if the gold reward was the only problem here …
The token nerf is a joke.
Push because this can’t be high enough in the list …
This wallet is amazing. Unfortunately, it isn’t necessary anymore as we don’t get tokens anymore xD
Well, “nerfs” which don’t occur in the patch notes are nothing special for Arenanet.
If this continues, there won’t be any reason for playing more than 1 character anymore. This change (if intended) just lengthens the dungeon gear grind and implies that I better only come with a meta character instead of playing other professions (which actually should be Arenanet’s goal – making people trying out some more of their professions), but no. This says: Go get your daily tokens with your warrior and repeat it the next day.
Perhaps they wanted to stop people with thousands of lvl 80’s doing CoF p1 all day for their full set, but the change hits way too hard …
I hope this is a mistake. Arenanet should tell us at least anything regarding the nerf.

Regarding all the “5 guys are no guild”-arguments:
As long as it is possible to create a guild all by yourself, there shouldn’t be any exclusion with regard to the Guild Missions and smaller guilds. If Arenanet wants Guild Missions to be startable by bigger guilds only, the creating of a guild should be handled like it’s the case in other game (e.g. WoW), because being able to create a 1-man guild suggests something different.
I’m not talking about the big challenges and stuff. There has to be exclusive content for huge guilds, but let smaller guilds also enjoy some of the starter Guild Missions without forcing them to grind / farm the hell out of everything for influence or joining other’s missions without getting a small reward for their own guild Say lvl 2 / 3 instead of 5 for the beginning … something which is not THAT far away.
Your dungeon-argument is somewhat flawed, Gisei. If guilds are supposed to be bigger than say 5, then there is no sense in making it possible to create a guild all by yourself.
They should’ve been a system for creating guilds similar to WoW or something like that, then!
This actually makes Leah Rivera’s blog-post look like AN INSULT TO THE PLAYERS!
Seriously. She states, in a different context, though – but still:““But what if my guild is super small?” you may say? Not to worry—”
Yeah, what if my guild is super small and there is no way on earth I can obtain the needed influence in order to enjoy the amazing new content on which I was really looking forward to!?
Arenanet is so funny: On one day, I am hyped because the trailer and the blog post read as if everything is amaaazing! But right on the next day, all my hype gets destroyed because of something like this. I’m on a very small guild which I don’t want to leave behind as I built guild bank and stuff nearly by myself! But our influence just isn’t enough for lvl 5 in every category (have to rush personal story with other characters now and have to pay 20g for influence, great!)
I understand that bigger guilds should have advantages with regard to those missions, but lvl 5 in every category is a bit too much in my opinion – it feels like i get excluded from content! Make it lvl 3 or something like that.
Well, I have to look for a big, all lvl 5-guild shortly -.-"
First time ever that i “rant” on the official forum … feels bad xD
