I like Nemesis.
Unfortunately, his views always seem to be pretty weird. He always tries to find something different just for the sake of being different.
Many of his builds, his thinking about the traits etc. would require an answer from outside the box (build being inside the box): PVE. The PVE in this game does not match his way of thinking.
On the other hand, he again proved that the skills are broken (tooltips, skills, animation times etc.), so I guess that counts as helping the community.
I already fear his tank build; the amount of people we have to kick out of our PUGs after he releases his tank are going to be outrageous.
I really appreciate his effort and I’d really like to see a reason for this build diversity (choosing between tank / dps etc), but it just does not exist in the PVE of this game (yet?) and this fact has been proven often enough.

so you can make money off of them and start caring about dungeons again.
:D
You know, I’m happy that they did something right, but I’m not happy with the fact that this just looks as if they swept the thread under the mat.
The “dungeon community” seems to be so much smaller than the “living story open world zerg community” that Arenanet can afford to completely ignore the former.
I hope that not too many employers lose their job after all the other MMOs hit …
Of course I am!
Finally, they awake from their bad dream that was 2013 and revamp all dungeons in a “no-guild-puzzle-but-dungeon”-way and add 8 new ones as addition to the new, awesome content.
Oh, they don’t, obviously.
That sounds pretty interesting, Enaretos, especially because I like the CoF P3 boss a lot. The only issue here would be his HP and too much CC. Both has to be reasonable as nobody wants to kill bosses with HotW-health pools through several phases.
I never really got what people hate so much about Karka. Those small standard ones have low health pools but high burst projectiles which can be used to make them kill themself rather quickly, so those wouldn’t be that much of a problem in a dungeon.
And those big ones? Well, you don’t have to put millions of them into it … just 1 – 2. And they’ll probably be skippable so who cares about them.
This game just needs several new, good kitten dungeons (while all existing ones shall get revamped, hohohoho) and Southsun Cove would really profit from one (if it is any good ) as it is, in my opinion, a nice zone. It’s been a year now. Steal some boss ideas from other MMOs, Souls-Games, Metroid Prime or whatever, but just doing it right once in a while would be great. /rant
I do believe people run this more often than TAFU. Actually, it’s not a bad path either. Just too much Mario Party here and there and definitely too long, thus most people don’t do it..
Southsun Cove needs a dungeon in my opinion.
Its not that people like warrior…is that to play any pug dungeon you need warriors…
Well, I like my warrior. Yes, it is the easiest class to play and that may one reason why I merely play another class. But guess what, I don’t care!
On the other side, though, yes, PUGS have to learn that there is no real need for warriors-only groups.
I actually think it is fine. Get yourself some full green / yellow equip and there shouldn’t be much problems. Doesn’t the downscale work at least so that a full exotic lvl 80 is near a fully geared lvl 35 character? Of course, that is off now with ascended gear
Wow. The new rock in SE p3 just shows how many kittens Arenanet really gives about their dungeons. Why didn’t they fixed the rest of this kitten dungeon, too? The first boss can be still bugged on that stupid thingy, the bridge skip is still the same and the NO NO NO-part is also there (but well this shall stay in as a running gag).
sigh
That one is still there. Just at another spot.
They formed a group of designers to create this dungeon. Those were people from the MF-Dungeon and the Aetherblade-Dungeon combined.
Thus, no real dungeon team … just your random LS-Team
Something like a “dungeon team” doesn’t exist.
Wow, you did find a group where you can play the way you want. So how about shutting up now and let people who want to stack because it’s efficient play the way they want.
Just go ahead and go your ways instead of posting this bs. You are not a true hero of awesomeness just because you play in a different way. Stacking is no exploit so no issue there.
This dungeon is not even close to something that could be considered “hard”. Period. It’s not the easiest thing in the world, but when you understood the mechanics, it’s no big deal really. Even the ooze pulling is very fine imo. The only spot where the horrible AI can get in your way is in that annoying electro field puzzle.
p.s.s. This not WoW. You actually have to think about what you’re doing.
I really wonder how you manage to do high level raids without thinking
I suggest you read my post again.
I like it in the most cases, but I clearly stated why it is too much in this dungeon.
I just finished the new dungeon path. Overall, I think it is pretty decent and BY NO MEANS too hard. Quite on the contrary, even. Do not listen to people who consider something light like this hard, please, Arenanet.
The dungeon is nicely structered and everything looks really good visually. I like the fact that there is much more open space, too. Therefore, people have less room for LoS’ing group of mobs (it is possible in many places for sure though). I also like the addition of puzzles and other tasks, so a dungeon does not feel like a corridor full of mobs and then a final boss.
Unfortunately, we get a feeling of unlocking one room after another which is very artificial and the dungeon is horribly linear. In my opinion, it does not make any sense to break the bad linearity AFTER the final boss is killed. Moreover, additional events and bonus quests shouldn’t be exclusive for after the last boss, too. There should always be optional and of course rewarding bonus missions in the progress of a dungeon, not only after it.
While I generally like the way trash mobs are handled in this dungeon, they still have issues: Many of them neither give loot nor count towards stacking sigils which is very annoying. Due to this, there are even less reasons to kill them despite you are forced to do so. But Anet definitely learned in this regard as the mobs mostly have lower health pools and the aetherblades don’t stun you all day anymore.
The bosses. Yeah, the bosses are fine I guess. The only boss in this dungeon which I think is absolutely horrible, boring and shallow is that guy in the middle of a huge free space which yo have to clean from a million aetherblades beforehand. The only interesting thing is that wave thing we now from MF, but even that seemed to do anything. That boss is way too easy, too. In order to illustrate my biggest issue with this dungeon, let’s look at the very first puzzle where we have to pull 2 oozes at the same time:
The event isn’t that hard and works very well. You are done and everything’s fine. Bam, the next boss, Slick and Spark, AGAIN requires you to kite an ooze. I like this boss so it isn’t that annoying, but the kiting won’t end as you have to kite the very last boss through a huge room, too. And that was a little bit too much in my opinion. Kite, kite, kite, nothing else than kiting something to some sort of thing. Even the electro field puzzle right before the boss again involves kiting a holo to the door. It’s just too much.
Yes, you might say that it’s a good thing when Guild Wars 2 finally requires you to move in a fight, and it is. But it shouldn’t evolve around kiting only. Make us do other things, too.
It also makes many random guys think that range is a good idea in this dungeon which isn’t as everything can be meleed for a rather quick kill easily.
Could you please stop interpret anything from seeing a dev playing the game? This is a kittening dev. He has no time to play the game. It’s pretty kitten stupid to assume them being pro or something.
Oh boy … flaming a dev for going any weird weapon combo is just shortsighted.
That’s not flaming the dev for his terrible skills (although, while I don’t expect devs to have the best twitchy skills, I expect them to know better about their weapon selection since they are the ones responsible for the, you know, kittening class and skill balance.), but flaming the content. if someone like the guy in that video can complete the content whether you like it or not it DOES mean something about the content.
Yeah, sure. This designer surely has anything to do with class or skill balance. No he has not at all.
Moreover … the content was not completed even nearly in the stream, although I definitely see where you’re coming from (and I agree). But tbh, I didn’t expect a hardcore path or something. I’ll wait and see first before I complain about how easy the path is, though.

All the complaints about puzzles and platforming (avoiding lasers and stuff for example) … I really don’t get it. What do you guys want? Corridors full of mobs and then a boss (we assume that those trash mobs would be good and fun to play and the boss would’ve good mechanics)? I don’t disagree, but I really don’t see a reason why another take (both is possible at the same time btw) just like this is so bad? did you never play zelda-ish games or so, because I actually would love if MMOs would go away from what I know from WoW dungeons and go in those regions more. It’s a balance act, then!
So you guys, for instance, disliked the boss in the aetherblade dungeon where you had to avoid the laser barriers? I really liked it, but on the other hand I also really like more “traditional” bosses so to speak. As I said, the right balance might be the best fit for me, but most of you guys seem to dislike everything which involves anything but fighting drastically.
I really hope that the new fractals come with big changes to stupid parts of fractals (dredge, lol) and changes for high level fractals … making them rewarding, less RNG and so on.
You guys do realize that the people you get into your group by using the tool doesn’t make the itself bad?
People seem to be unable to read (thus making the good merging feature which speeds things up drastically a self goal) and highly misinterpret the term “experienced” which is the case on gw2lfg.com, too.
I’m quite puzzled about the fact that they change TA now, too. I don’t have a big problem with the design of the enemies and enviromnents as I’m a huge fan of inquest anyway (and this looks kinda similar). The Aetherblades are fine, too.
MF, the Aetherblade dungeon and the gauntlet did show that Arenanet did learn at least something with regard to boss mechanics, so there is hope that there will be good bosses in there. The biggest thing for me would be the removal or a revamp of defiant.
But yeah, if the existing TA paths get removed entirely, I have to question their thinking again. TA isn’t that special, but – despite boring and / or stupid final bosses – very solid. The flowers make it even kinda unique in my opinion. The paths don’t have too many issues apart from all final bosses (and a WP missing here and there) in order to justify a revamp which might even remove old paths, because there are many other dungeon paths which need to be revamped from scratch.
Nevertheless, I do look forward to this patch. I wonder how it will affect the existing TA-path (+dungeon token rewards). I really hope it is a permanent dungeon, but considering the fact that it has something to do with Scarlet (thus their on-going soap opera), I highly doubt it.

As long as the seller doesn’t kick other guys from his group, I don’t see a problem with it. It’s just an offer …
The only thing which is lacking now is the “rewarding the player”-one in which Anet always fails.
getting standard world boss loot + 1g for this is ridiculous.
Oh right, there is the big difference. I don’t understand why it is possible to do the achievement in the baby mode, then. It’s more or less my bad, then, but nonetheless, that is what I consider a big design flaw.
There shouldn’t exist “points of no return” at points where the player already invested about 1-3 hours.
(edited by Acerola.6407)
push because “this can’t be real”
Hello,
Josh, I can’t believe you did something like this. I really can’t.
For “Master of Baubles World 2” I need to open the last chest with a key which can only be purchased one time as you can’t get back to the shop once you reach some certain point.
From Dulfy’s guide:
“58. Purple Bauble
You will now need to backtrack all the way back to the area before checkpoint 3 and grab the last key you dropped off ages ago. When you backtrack through the area with the sloped hill, you will need to jump on the ledge on your right and go from there to get back to the spiked corridor. Take care to not fall off and die somewhere hard to reach as you cannot get another key if you lose it.”
Seriously … making the playerbase waste 2-3 hours just so they learn it is impossible for them to get the achievement. Because, let’s be honest here… NOBODY would take a key to this point without the guide.
Well, I love the SAB, even the new one. But this destroys it for me as I wasted many many many hours for this, thus I don’t think I will go for the Achievements, although I really want those points.
Or am I and the others in my guild missing the point and there is a way to get a key for the last chest elswehere?
It’s “your standard world boss loot + 1 gold” mostly.
Nothing more, unless you are lucky and get a Tequatl exotic which are totally useless, a tequatl mini which is fine or the great amazing ascended weapons.
It’s a joke, really. Without the great feeling of accomplishment due to the first time killing him and the overall scene of the fight which I love … i would be raging right now xD
Hello,
Elona Reach finally beat him with about 2 minutes to spare. Tequatl is in no way “too hard” or “unbeatable”, but Arenanet … pls buff the rewards. There is no way you can justify this fight by giving us standard world boss loot + 1 gold. That’s even worse than the golem who has 2 champ boxes!
The 1 gold is just like anet telling us “here 1 gold so it’s rewarding”, but no.
CoF p1 is more rewarding than a world boss which requires at least some coordination (it’s not that much as everyone says … people only have to learn the fight still), which shouldn’t be the case imo.
We get a chance for exotic tequatl things with weird stats which can’t be seen by anyone anyway, so what the heck?
The only positive things on the loot table are the mini and the ascended weapons, but I don’t think those are something you’ll ever see. I don’t have a problem with rare drops, but come on: How about swapping the bonus rare with a 100% exotic? Would be something at least.
Apart from my QQ about the loot: This whole fight is pretty decent with some great details. Tequatl’s feets finally are a threat. For example, the hitbox is quite big on his side so I thought I’d melee him from the side and therefore avoid his waves. but teq has an answer to this: When he prepares for his wave, he moves quite a bit, knocking me down with his feets from the back! that creates a knockback combo due to the incoming wave so I was killed. I guess that’s avoidable, but kitten , it was great.
The whole fight and feeling of accomplishment is just amazing! Anet did a great job, really! It’s also a great thing to see the race of which server beats him and such. Very entertaining! Nothing compared to “real raid bosses” found in “other” MMOs, but it’s a good step in the right direction! I love this patch <3
Ha, it’s just a beta for about a week or so!
I don’t complain about them testing. I complain about them showing off and then saying “Nah, that’s mine”. It’s like stealing candy from a baby. It’s so annoying. I was in a wrong impression about the next patch, thinking we would finally get a LFG tool which they could have released last week in beta status or whatever. But no, they tell us “hey, here is your LFG tool”, showing off at PAX and ALL OF A SUDDEN, it’s a beta. That is just weak. I don’t want to be their beta tester, I want to play the game. But well, a beta tester would cost money, so …
(edited by Acerola.6407)
Wow, I’m disappointed. They need a beta for this after all the time? Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good thing that they want to release it when it’s stable, but telling us that it comes on 17th on the event page and then literally taking it away from us (even if I will have access to it … it’s a beta and not the promised release, kitten it). That’s a joke.
There goes all my hype for the next patch. Great Job.
SAB stays near one month, not just 2 weeks.
You might read the patch notes before complaining as this is intended. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-August-20-2013
- Watch the World Event UI for new invasions.
- All overflow maps created within 10 minutes of the start of the invasion will host a concurrent version of that hour’s event.
(edited by Acerola.6407)
The reward for completing it isnt much better than failing anyways.
That’s the problem with the invasion-rewards in my opinion. Too much for failing, too less “more” for actually succeeding.
@Daywolf
I’m totally in for doing temples again as those will give us new ascended stuff we need to create the new weapons! I hope that will liven up orr a little bit.

@ Deamhan.9538
I didn’t expect you to behave this badly. What’s wrong with this forum?
You said it takes long to get BiS and that’s bad for WvW’ler. Yes, I totally agree with that, but that has nothing to do with what we (or I ..) were (was) discussing (or trying to discuss as it doesn’t seem to be a discussion to begin with)
When comparing an ascended ring to that of an exotic with a jewel covering the exact same three stats, the ascended actually provides a greater benefit than the exotic and jewel combined. That’s not including the use of the upgrade slot and it doesn’t include being able to make it “(infused)”.
That’s per trinket.
Add all the trinkets
Now add the differences between the exotic armor/weapons to the up coming ascended versions. The fact is that it will render existing BiS gear obsolete (aka No longer BiS) and the difference between someone with and without will actually be rather significant.
Here’s a little food for thought.
To your average runner who simply does it to stay in reasonably good shape. Shaving a second off your 10km run is not all that much.
To a professional athlete, it’s an eternity.
When you are talking competitive and skilled players fighting each other in WvW, that extra bonuses to stats makes all the difference.
Now you can ignore the fact that they are introducing new BiS gear to replace the existing BiS gear for the armor and weapon slots. You can argue that it’s not a new tier and say that they are just finishing off an existing set. But you can’t ignore that by making such an argument, and following that logic, that they are simply finishing the spiral they had already created with the introduction of the ascended trinkets.
Sorry Acerola, but your posts don’t hold any water.
Sigh, unfortunately I don’t think they will ever understand this.
Sigh, unfortunately I don’t think they will ever try.
Stop. The. Trolling.
You must be kidding, MandJ. This game was rushed. It was released unfinished. Nothing in orr worked. The Zhaitan-fight was finished right before they shipped the game. That’s why they didn’t add ascended gear at launch (if it’s true that they intended to do so as it could still be just a PR excuse)
Sorry Acerola, but your posts don’t hold any water.
I don’t get why by what you’re saying. They do add ascended to all slots, nothing more. Just like you said. And I, and others.
@ SonicTHI.3217
Why can’t we let this story finally die? Everyone knows that Anet said and says bullkitten. Everyone SHOULD HAVE known before, because it’s just PR and marketing.
(edited by Acerola.6407)
That’s just speculation. Won’t help much, Leo Paul.
New skills and utilities are pretty much confirmed, maybe for this year even (as a new form of progression)
No, cesmode. I know what a treadmill is BECAUSE I played WoW. You don’t. Read TheDaiBish.9735’s post, please.
I know gear treadmill because i play omg, releasing bits of ascended gear one after another is just a lie, a cover up another way to release new gear type into a game bit by bit.
You know, they seem to be so caught up on the textbook definition of gear treadmill that they don’t understand what we’re trying to say.
Well … this applies to your group as well (or even “only to your group”)
Yes. They’re releasing ascended gear bit by bit. So what? Imagine they would have added ascended weapons, armor and trinkets when they introduced ascended trinkets last year … and would now add a new type for weapons, armor and trinkets. Yep, I would be complaining, too, then.
I don’t say there are no similiraties. But that doesn’t matter at all.
No, cesmode. I know what a treadmill is BECAUSE I played WoW. You don’t. Read TheDaiBish.9735’s post, please.
If you feel like you’re playing beta, you clearly didn’t play the beta or at launch. Oh boy, this game was so broken back then (I’m not saying that there is no room for fixing today).
Could you please stop talking bullkitten which has nothing to do with the actual discussion and start to do something productive?
@ MandJ
Still no treadmill in my opinion. It’s one gear type … if you cry about them adding a new gear type, why don’t you cry about gear from the beginning, because if ascended gear were there from the launch, nothing of this QQ would be happening.
One type, which is still not on all slots … calling this a treadmill is an insult to real treadmill games.
(edited by Acerola.6407)
Link pls. Because that would mean they add another tier in a few months (which they won’t).
