I don’t mind having some kind of que, as long as works like a que should…. from the time you joined the que. Right now it’s a WvW lottery and needs changed ASAP.
Please – the number one priority is to FIX THE QUE’s and make them work like a standard que. It’s a complete que lottery atm and completely destroys attempts to group with friends and guild members.
We don’t mind waiting in ques as much as long as we get in at roughly the same time.
Wanted to add the two most obvious solutions:
1) STOP free transfers to high rated/que servers. – This will prevent high population/high que servers from getting worse. Allow free transfers from high rated servers to low or medium rated servers only.
2) FIX THE QUE to actually work like a que. – Make the que system work based on WHEN you qued only, there should be no other determining factors. As spots become available in WvW it should take the next “number” in order. I actually don’t know how long the average que is on Jade Quarry. Sometimes I get a pop after 5 mins while a guild member has waited 2-3 hours. Sometimes I’m waiting 2-3 hours and watch a guild member get a pop in 5 mins. Let’s fix that queing system first so we can actually get true representation of our server’s que duration.
WvW is supposed to be unbalanced, we have sPvP for balanced PvP.
QUICK SOLUTION – Add a warhammer style warband or Rift Raid grouping system for medium sized grouping of say 20 people. It functions like a regular party and cuts down on trying to use a commander and squad system for smaller scale grouping over 5 people.
People are trying to use the commander and squad system just to make a small force for multiple groups and it’s not designed for that. What the players WANT is some way to group with over 5 people but not lead a full army like the commander system.
A new grouping/raid system is needed to bridge this gap.
Free transfers in general are not the issue… it where they are going to.
please , Stop free transfers to servers with HIGH populations.
100% agree.
This has been used on other MMO’s for a long time. In warhammer there used to be a grace period in scenarios and City instances… it’s certainly do-able.
To add to the post.
- Commander need the ability to make Squads Public/Private.
- Squad members should have unique icon colors visible to everyone in the squad.
- Notification when someone successfully joins a squad.
- List or command showing all current people in a squad.
Most importantly, they need to add a Warband/Raid grouping system for 20-25 players. Medium sized raid system showing simple health bars for everyone in the raid as well as unique colored icons to find each other on the map. Sometimes you have more than a group or don’t want an army following your guild commander around, you just want to group with guild members and friends.
Arenanet has to understand that players and guilds have different play styles and different ideas of what “FUN” means. Our guild for example likes being mobile, hitting targets behind enemy lines and ambushing players trying to reinforce objectives. There is simply no in game grouping mechanics to do this when we have over 5 people. If our guild has 15-20 people running together we have 2 options.
- Use 3 to 4 separate groups running beside each other.
- Use the commander and squad system.
Using the group system – Having 3-4 separate groups means we can’t see other group icons on the map, nor do we have a dedicated chat channel. You can use guild chat to talk, but what if everyone in the guild are NOT doing WvW or you have some people not in your guild? You flood the guild chat with spam and ruin it for other people. You can use a 3rd party voice program, but not everyone may have it installed or be able to speak, you still can’t see where other group members are. You can create a “New” guild and have everyone switch to it for WvW. I want my primary guild to gain WvW influence, not have it go to a temporary guild because we have no way to group 6-25 people.
Commander and Squad – As far as I know you still can’t make Squads private… It’s hard to be effective when you plan for 20 people and it balloons to over a 100 people. If your trying to organize a large campaign, then having a commander where everyone can join is fine. If your trying to form a specialized squad with clear objectives it’s pretty much impossible when you can’t control who is in it or the number of people in it.
I feel people need a short term solution now. Judging from the disappointment and frustration levels I see due to the WvW ques, sooner is better. Just some suggestions…
1) Make this thread a “Sticky”
2) Hopefully never make paid server transfers.
3) If not..stop free transfers.
4) Only allow free transfers on High Rated servers moving to Low or Medium Rated servers.
Stopping only the determined people from coming to High rated servers and allowing overpopulated servers to flow easily onto low and medium rated servers. This is something that can be done anytime.
And please… make the WvW que work based on time qued. Even if there is a long que, at least our guild can all que at the same time and get “pops” at roughly the same time.
Our guild doesn’t mind the ques, as long as we can all get “pops” around the same time and get together. If we have to wait 2 hours, at least we know we can run together as a guild. Our attempts to “mass que” as a guild so far in Guild Wars 2 were comical…. I think out of 30-40 all queing at once we managed to get 7 people in the same zone at the same time.
Que system needs to work!
100% agree
This is the primary source of frustration in our guild with GW2 atm. Many in our guild are playing GW2 for engaging WvW with guild mates and friends and it’s next to impossible right now.
The simple fix would be to make que’s linear instead of the “autobalance” system they use now where people are getting in faster than other people.
The commander and squad system is for large forces. There is simply no mechanic for small to medium size forces to coordinate in WvW. If you are running with a force larger than 5 people it can be very frustrating. Some larger guilds will be using the commander feature simply because they need a way for more than 5 people to actually group together in WvW. Running around with 3-4 groups of 5 people right now in WvW is stupid… it’s hard to organize without some sort of grouping system,
There needs to be a grouping system similar to the “Warband” from Warhammer Online. A grouping system for up to 20 players that shows everyone’s location on the map with a uniquely colored icon. It should have a raid fame showing players health with a separate chat channel.
Often people in our guild are not always doing WvW, and using the guild chat channel for WvW coordination is not always effective. The only solution seems to be to create a new temporary multi-guild just to have a private chat channel for multiple groups. I want any influence gained to go to my primary guild, not a temporary one we had to create just so more than 5 people have a channel to communicate to each other. We also shouldn’t be forced to use a 3rd party voice program to coordinate.
There needs to be some kind of in game grouping system similar to the Warband for groups over 5 people, but not large enough to require commanders and squads. Either add a new raid grouping system and/or make the commander a public/private toggle.
The problem is we’re not getting pops according to when we que. It’s not like you grab a ticket and they call your number in order… there are other factors here. There is some sort of “autobalance” that effects where you are placed in the que based on class and natural level.
There is no exact formula detailed on how they place people in the que, but people are NOT being placed in a linear order from when they qued. Adding a visible que display won’t work unless Arenanet changes the way they place players in the que.
Needs addressing or some sort of acknowledgement that it’s actually bugged or working as it was designed.
Still not working as of Sept 9th.
The Que system is still BUGGED. People are logging in, queing for the same map and getting into the borderlands before someone who has been qued hours longer.
Feel your pain SanguisAevum….
Biggest source of frustration right now in our guild. It completely hinders friends trying to que at the same time, because it’s impossible to get pops at roughly the same time. I haven’t seen a single acknowledgement of any kind from Arenanet regarding the que issue. Even if they have no idea what’s causing the que bugs, it would be nice to know it’s “on the list”.
It’s not just the que times… it’s the INFLATED que times due to bugs or the forumula used to balance teams/servers in WvW. Nothing official announced regarding this issue, and not sure if it’s intended or a bug.
Nobody likes to wait in a long line up and watch as people cut in the line ahead of them…. that’s exactly what it feels like with the que sytem right now.
Waited 9 pm- 1 am EST to get in WVW…didnt get in. Now I’ve been qued for 2 hours 11am-1pm. My little brother got in in 10 mins this morning, and my buds got in in 20 mins last night. This is ridiculous and very disappointing as I only had this weekend to play with them
Lots of frustration with this in our guild as well. We have people with limited time and can’t reliably que because of the random or inflated que times. This seems to be an intermittent issue, and makes me wonder what other factors are used in the que mechanics.
Same issues all afternoon. People logging in the game and queing are getting in before people who have been qued hours longer.
It would be nice to see some kind of acknowledgement concerning the Que issues. This is a big concern and source of frustration for many guilds and players. Not looking for an ETA or a fix but it would be nice to know Arenanet is aware of it.
WvW is supposed to be unbalanced, I sure hope that is not the case. A que is just that. You pick a number, wait for that number to be called in chronological order and then enter WvW. If there is some formula that takes into account class, natural lvl 80’s (as opposed to lvl 2’s bumped to 80) when balancing servers… get rid of it. All it’s doing is preventing guilds from actually playing together.
Whatever the issue is, it needs corrected ASAP. We need a working que system that let’s people into WvW according to when they qued. I understand that there are a number of issues that arenanet is focused on, but this is the single most frustrating thing for me in the game. Since release the most guild members we’ve had in a single zone is 10 out of 100 members. We’ve had roughly 35 people que together for a single zone and the “pop” timers range from 5 mins to 4.5 hours.
How can friends and guilds play together with that discrepancy?
Just curious if anyone has found any tricks to help or reduce the Que bugs until they are resolved. Currently it’s a WvW lottery, not a que as people can log in and get in ahead of other people.
- Some have mentioned waiting until you are in a normal zone (non-overflow)
- Que for WvW map
- Don’t leave zone or enter an overflow.
This seems to help, but occasionally I’ve still been qued for 4 hours watching people login, que and then get in after 30 mins. And NO I didn’t miss a pop or anything, the longest I’ve waited without relogging/re-queing was 7 and a half hours.
Anyone find anything else that seems to reduce the buggy ques?
I’m really surprised this hasn’t gotten more attention, it’s next to impossible to get our guild together if que pops are given out randomly.
- Either players are somehow jumping the que ahead of others due to a bug.
- Either players in a Que are having the timer reset, or it’s removing the player from the que without indicating it. (via the icon on the top right)
This has happened to every player on our guild at certain times and pretty much every other guild we’ve talked to. It’s happened on each of the 4 WvW maps. After 4 hours I just relog and re-que when guildmembers can just log in and get in after anywhere from 5 mins – 1.5 hours.
It’s a WvW lottery, not a que. This needs fixed ASAP, it’s annoying and frustrating, and preventing people from playing together.
This is the single most frustrating thing in GW2 for me right now… no idea if I’m actually qued for WvW or bugged. Another night of 3+ hour ques and I watch as guild members log in and que for the same zone, and get in there in 5 mins.
I don’t mind waiting for long ques, but I DO mind waiting in a Que that is completly bugged.
They need a new overflow WvW map. Even if it’s just a large land/water area with 3 portal keeps…. at least we can fight enemies while we wait for a pop for EB or the Borderlands.
This doesn’t have to count for points, but just for fun with awards/exp for killing people.
It’s a WvW lottery atm, not a WvW que. If 10 people all que for the same borderland zone at the same time you’d expect that all 10 people would get popups at roughly the same time. We had people getting popups at 1min, 3 min, 10, min, 25 min, and the rest never got anything for 3+ hours and/or simply logged out.
I’m on a high population server by choice, I don’t have an issue with the ques but I do have an issue with ques that prevent you from actually playing with friends and GUILD members. I honestly have no idea what to expect when I que now.
Great ideas about having some kind of indicator or counter with your current place in que and estimated time to get in the zones. At least you’ll know your not bugged and waiting 3-4 hours for nothing.
