Funny you should ask because yes this patch will entirely decide exactly that!
-Mind stab now removes 2 boons, but has has half the radius and half the damage to compensate.
Hell no. Unless you have a rich daddy it is an enormous waste of gold ((time(money)).
Good taste is subjective, and if you don’t like kittenty outfits, then don’t wear them.
How do you people even manage to go out at night, do you confront every girl in a short skirt or visible bra straps in the club?
What annoys me the most is medium armor.
The fact that every single (with maybe 2 exceptions) medium set in the game is a variation of “trench coat”, ensures I can never invest much into any of the medium armor professions. It bugs me to no end.
A game where supposedly the treadmill is purely cosmetic, there sure are serious limitations to how your toon looks.
Not to mention the kitten and crotch flaps galore, and how much more skin male armor versions cover.
Fractals in my opinion were a wrong decision that messed with the core of the game.
On the other hand perhaps it did manage to lock down and attract a specific portion of the playerbase, avoiding a whole other disaster. Who knows. All I know is that the world is empty, and stormwi.., sorry LA is packed.
Mind stab is just taking up space on the action bar as it is now. There are very few instances where it is a good idea to root yourself down and use it.
Thing is, while many of us mesmers obviously enjoy a more complex and intelligent playstyle, we at least expect to be as potent as the easier professions.
As it stands now, mesmers have to put a whole lot of effort in order to achieve stuff that all other professions do a bit better with much less effort. Sustained AoE is a good example for this.
This is pretty much exactly what I have been running with for most PvE. Only difference is I swap out a full zerker armor set for 3/6 valkyrie and 3/6 knights while keeping zerker weapons and jewelery.
More reliable swiftness would be great, if it were not for rangers, elementalists and necros getting free 25% passive movement. Even if we get better swiftness uptime we will still be falling behind, because everybody else moves even faster now.
Please consider giving us a passive movement increase tied to a mantra or signet. 20% or even 10% would be more than welcome and very needed.
Swiftness increases 33%, and both effects do not stack, so having swiftness on you would make a passive +25% increase useless. For example, current meta elementalists won’t need the changes to the signet because they have good means to apply swiftness, although other builds will sure enjoy it. So a Mesmer with good means to get swiftness wouldn’t “fall behind”.
I know they don’t stack.
You forget that all other professions have more reliable access to swiftness (more uptime) as it is already, before passive movement speed increases. Giving elementalists, necro’s and rangers passive 25% increased movement speed, while they all still have at least >50% uptime on swiftness without effort, makes them much faster than mesmers, even if mesmers do get higher swiftness uptime.

Fire staff skills scale very well with power/crit, much better than most people realize. Especially the 2nd skill scales extremely well. Auto attack is also decent.
Aoe ? Take the 30 illusion self shatter trait
GS phantasm, focus phantasm,
Go melee, sword skill 2
F1 —> BOOM !!
Then wack your relatively weak sword auto attack at a small pack waiting on cooldowns, while everybody else continues aoe tagging mobs.
Mesmers are fantastic for killing and surviving the hardest of mobs without a scratch.
However, they are also the absolute slowest profession out of combat. That means that as a mesmer doing anything out of combat (like jumping puzzles, map completion, running from point A to B for whatever reason) will take you much longer than all other professions. Especially jumping puzzles for other professions that have perma-swiftness or passive 25% increased movement speed, are a very different experience.
Also, mesmers lack any sort of reliable low cooldown AoE. That means that they have a very difficult time tagging the same amount of mobs in events as all other professions. Our only real AoE is the 1h sword auto attack cleave and shatters, both of which require a lot more effort, planning and gearing to pull off what other professions get for free.
If your plan is to solo and explore pve content and not feel gimped whenever an elementalist or thief zooms right past you, mesmer might not be a good choice.
