So it’s pretty much exactly like the mesmer GS1?
Simple question. Does the damage of staff1 cleave? if so does it cleave in the beam, or in a radius around the target?
Uh,
You know, I was kind of expecting a 5 person cleave on the Staff…
Me too
The auto attack is pretty underwhelming though.
I’m very excited to whack things in the face with a bifrost! also very excited to match some medium armor with it. Hopefully they do a good job on the bifrost specific animations.
The only thing I want from Anet is to give the auto attack a nice cleave, maybe even something like the guardian staff, so that I can slap PVT on my thief and command smoothly. The stealthiness and mobility won’t hurt either.
I’m so excited! hopefully this doesn’t mean that druid loses staff though.
I really hope that the auto attack has a nice cleave.
I would love a staff for my thief. Love it.
PU is great now. It fits the mesmer theme perfectly. I feel more like a mesmer now than I ever did before.
It is pretty exciting to see what new builds will start existing.
On the other hand some old build might break, cross your fingers it is not your favorite one!
Also they said “new ways of shattering your illusions” which kinda puts me off. I was hoping for something completely new, not just new shatter skills.
I was also thinking about spirits, but more about the quality of life stuff. Like I hate having to resummon them so often, they should be permanent via a trait or something if a druid wants to.
Yeah it is very soloqueue unfriendly, kinda goes well with the soloqueue arena removal.
To the point though where even stupid people will notice the difference and raise pitchforks if not completely give up on it.
Not good.
People are being very optimistic about the zerker meta changing. A lot would have to change. As long as the community can cheese “dungeons” with zerker gear, the meta won’t change one bit.
As long as the only difference is story, nope I don’t really care. Even though I have a couple of sylvari I love, I’m trying really hard to just main and focus on one character.
I’m on deso so I am almost never green, it’s always blue or red for me. I’m ok with it for the most part since I see it as a competition between red and blue, which is good and fun since both blue and red are usually fair game to each other. Just avoid green like ebola, which is not too hard TBH.
It is weeks like this where SFR is red where EotM becomes so unbalanced to the point where it is not fun.
I agree that condition duration food is way too strong, making it mandatory for any and all condition specs since it just increases its effectiveness so enormously. It’s cheesy and goes to show how Anet never really intended condition specs to be taken very seriously in PvE.
Just imagine a food that increased attack power by 40%.
IMO Anet should reduce the best condition duration food to 20% or so, and give everyone in the game a flat 10-15% condition duration buff.
I very rarely get a troll tag, for the most part people respect other people’s tag. On the extremely rare occasion I do get a troll tag I ask them to tag down, if they don’t I wish everyone luck with the guy and tag down myself to avoid the drama.
As I said it almost never happens though. You get some red tags when someone wants to lead people from spawn to your location, and sometimes you get people tagging up defending a keep or a tower, but never really someone who will just tag up and try to get the main zerg to him.
People think overgrowth is overpowered so whenever a server has it you see a lot more people play overgrowth. FR is seen as weak and BL is seen as a middle of the pack.
Personally I think BL is the best option due to close proximity to scorps and wurm which I find to be key to a good karma train.
I agree red side is the best to be for a good karma train because of scorps and wurm, and also because defending red keep much harder than the other 2 keep so no matter how outnumbered you are you can almost always keep flipping it.
This is also exactly the reason why this week is hell for EU because SFR is red side and has access to all those perks.
The week is absolute cancer in EOTM for EU as blue. All we can really do is defend the keep.
Yeah Anet should get with the times and gives at the very least pets, if not summons too, 80% or so AoE damage reduction, just like WoW does. It took WoW years to reach this point, I hope we don’t have to slug through the same with GW2 for years.
I really want more info on druids. I am very curious if the staff skills will be power or condition oriented. It will be a make a break kinda deal for me. So far only elementalist sword skills have been datamined..
I think the reason is very simple, they will only change 1 trait line per new specialization, and being Anet they couldn’t be bothered removing and replacing all the pet related traits in the other trait lines. So druids will definitely be stuck with pets.
Hello,
I dusted off my ranger recently and noticed that both my owl and wolf go from 25k health to 14.5k health in WvW. Is this a PvP specific nerf that carries over into WvW?
It is pretty annoying because my pets just blow up consistently in champ fights to random AoE when fighting EOTM champs.
About time. It is criminal that a game such as GW2 took so long to recognize and start dealing with this problem of condition damage being utterly unviable with very low quality of life in many scenarios, including high end PvE.
They better fix poison and burning in addition to bleeds. If they do, I will be very happy, but lord did they take their sweet time.
I keep hearing human male voices when I play my female human mesmer. It is babbling non stop about stability and needing help. It is very distracting. Anyone else?
Only reason to take mesmer into PvP is portal?
Yeah, portal is good, but mesmer has high burst(can 100-0 a guardian)Maybe if he’s brain afk… The mesmer burst dpends on the enemies armor type, build and stupidity. You can 100-0 other zerks yes, but who else plays zerk in competitive pvp? Thief, another mes and maybe 1500 range away rangers. Yet you won’t burst a thief, since a proper thief will evade ALL your highly predictable skills. A ranger won’t even let you near him or / and has plenty of evade or invuln skills to block the initial burst. Same goes for guard and ele. Necro and war are just unburstable due to their hp pool and all those guys will destroy you after your failed burst. If enemies know the mesmer, if they are at same skill level as you are, they will deny your shatter burst and then either kill you or ignore you when you run away.
, high mobility(say what you want but phase retreat, blink and portal mean mesmer has insane mobility) a high amount of boon rip, excellent stomp/resurrection negation and to that mesmer has Moa which is an instant +1 for your team in a fight.
Mobility =/= save skills. If you blink to get from point A to B, you’re dead to me. Portal, as I said, yes. And PR is sure good for movement too. Boon rip is the best thing we have, but I wouldn’t argue with stomp. Most classes can stomp better than us (more often), resurrection negation yes. Moa … cheesy skill and very unreliable. I admit it’s hard to keep an eye on a mes in a TF, but 3 min cd is also fairly enough. It’s rather personal preference to take this skill I guess and I honestly haven’t used it enough to bring a proper statement.
Slow unless you run traveler, sort of, yes. But traveler doesn’t ruin your damage a lot. It will make a difference of maybe 1 or 2k in a burst and either way a lot of damage when you burst goes wasted because you’ll put in more damage than the enemy has HP.
Good one.
Worst class in PvP? Hell no. All classes are decent in PvP at the moment, each has it’s pro’s and cons. Just because mesmer is harder to play doesn’t mean it’s worse. Mesmer comps are actually a lot better than cele comps but they are much harder to pull off.
“All classes are decent” sounds more like a green peace slogan :P. So if you won’t mess up a single thing and if you hit all your shatter skills, wich is the difficulty about mesmer, then you are on pair with other classes in pvp? Even if I think that’s not even correct, what does this basicly mean? He’s weaker, easier to deny and overall the worst class in pvp. Comon, don’t lie to yourself like a masochist enjoing to play something like that.
Why is mesmer not played a lot? Minimum room for error, extremely unforgiving and takes a lot of time to get good at and then even if you get good, if your team is not supporting you like it should, peeling for you, healing you, cleansing you ect you will be food again, another reason why people don’t like mesmer much. Necro is in a similar spot, very little room for error, more than mesmer but lower mobility, depends on its team a lot too, but then you get a skilled necro like Noscoc on your team, you support him well and he will in a way carry you all. A good necro is devastating for the enemy team. Same goes with mesmer.
Most people play mesmer like it’s a warrior and are because of that food to everyone and then rage and delete the class. It’s a kitten class if you don’t take the time to learn it and if you play it like it shouldn’t be played. The mesmer is overall just weaker, that’s what you say here. I pretty much support your statement that a good necro carries you around. But a good mesmer? He’s one of those who would like to have such a necro buddy. I don’t say mesmer are useless in PvP. But I say if you would have put so much effort you have put into the mesmer to learn and master in any other class, you would be stronger than you are right now. And this is what bugs me. It’s not like I failed in my mesmer carieer, it’s rather that once you get decent enemies you’ll notice that they know how to deny you and once you start playing like them, you smile at most mesmers.
I’m not sure what, but something about this person’s posts I find hilarious. It could be the very dramatic pessimism, or maybe there is some subtle sarcasm.
Hey all, I am looking for some commander builds around the internet, but most of what I find is outdated.
I’d like it to be extremely tanky with plenty of stability and stunbreaks, enough to survive and lead the melee group in 30v30+ scenarios. Full PVT or dire, preferably dire. Damage is not a priority at all, but it would be nice if I could spread some pain with conditions in dire gear. I don’t expect to be CCing much either, but it would be nice.
Is this a possibility for necromancers, or am I asking too much? Plague elite looks really good for this.
Just tag up with red or pink or something, and wait till someone puts up a blue tag. It’ll give the random people something to follow and do.
who cares to defend in EOTM
Green, very often..
1: You can leave, but you receive a loss on the leader boards and dishonor (debuff that doesn’t let you Q for set amount of time). This time punishment will also stack as you do it more often. There is a 60 second grace period for disconnects or character swapping.
There is a chance you go against soloers but it is pretty small. The matchmaking will try to push even amount of teams together. For instance 5v5 or 4-1v 4-1 or 2-3 vs 4-1. The issue with this though is if there are no equal teams in Q, eventually it will just put the closest thing it can find and result in slightly unfair matches. This is compensated for the points you receive or loose on leader boards. If you end up getting pitted against a full Q as full soloers, your chance of winning is less than 20% and therefore you only have to reach 200 points in match before you start gaining leader board points; even if you loose. If you were to win, you would gain the max amount of +3. Kind of complicated and there is wikis that explain everything better.
So basically as a soloqueuer I would lose a lot of games, but not much leaderboard rating right? that sucks then, since I don’t really care about ratings, I just want fun fair games, something that was actually a thing in GW2 previously.
Thanks for the answer anyway.
Hello everyone, I returned to the game after a year and I am a bit confused about 2 things.
First, I see a lot of people quit ranked arena matches which used to be very punishing. Is leaving arena matches not as punishing as it used to be?
Second, can you now queue up as a premade and get matched with and against soloqueuers? That would really suck all the fun out of arenas for me since premades are the cancer of casual pvp in MMOs imo. One thing I really liked about GW2 arenas was that everyone was soloqueue, thus game were much more fair than in most other games.
I agree, you can easily sneak in some defensive stats on your gear without anyone noticing.
If you are interested in wvw blobbing guardian is god tier. Just spam staff 1 and tag everything in sight while being very tanky on the front lines and cleaving everything around you with heals and boons.
It’s not just mesmers. Anet struggles to balance the game as a whole period.
Interesting how you actually killed yourself chasing a PU mesmer, I wish more people tried to chase me on my PU mesmer instead of strolling away from me all the time :p
It really depends on what you are dying. Dyes show up differently on different textures. For example on my guardian when I dye the arah heavy chest/legs with pastel lemon it shows up exactly the same color as illumination on the karma exotics.
I sometimes run that exact same build. Very effective, survivable and fun against unorganized casual people. I don’t use moa though, and I use different runes/sigils. Traveler runes have great synergy with everything plus the movement speed is a big quality of life boost.
I’d like some good ranged semi spammable aoe for tagging on the staff, some decent mobility and maybe some stealth. Thanks.
Thief and mesmer make a great roaming duo. They both are very mobile and slippery so you can stick and survive together well without delays.
If you run as a thief and an engineer for example you’d end up having to wait around to rez the engineer whenever you get ouplayed or mowed over by a zerg.
No, you they can’t see your footprints when you are stealthed.
Conditions should be personal period. It is ludicrous that they haven’t fixed this kittene yet. People that are saying “attrition” and “damage over time” have no clue. Dps is dps no matter where it comes from, and right now condition builds are completely unviable because of kitten poor design not because of dps issues.
Can anyone elaborate on the staff scepter/shield 0/0/2/6/6 build? which traits to get and what sigils/runes and what utilities to run with. The gw2skills editor doesn’t seem to work. Thanks.
I tried doing her with my condition WvW build and had a lot of trouble finish her off in her last phase. Then I logged my full zerker mesmer and one shot her just by spamming GS1 GS2 and GS4. VERY important trait is the cripple on clone death which basically keeps her perma slowed in the 2nd phase which basically trivializes the whole thing. I also used mirror heal with centaur runes so I had permanentish swiftness.
Both are fun and do different things very well.
With PU and a bit of skill you are pretty much immortal and you can whittle down pretty much anybody. Shatter has a whole lot of control and a lot of room to outplay and burst down skilled opponents, which PU definitely lacks. Shatter is very vulnerable to being outplayed itself though, and outnumbered situations and ambushes will easily delete you from the map.
Your problem is soldier/knight gear. Zerker (or assassin) is the answer to your low burst problem. Mesmers are probably the easiest profession to use full zerker gear on, so swap your gear if you want actual killing power.
I get stuck in terrain all the time too, even in PvP maps. I also get stuck in invisible roots for about 30 seconds very often. I think it is the ranger skill with the healthbar roots that really bugs it out reliably, but roots in general bug it out. It is very annoying, but it used to be even worse so count your mesmer blessings!
If tagging is important to you power all the way. Just use a greatsword with a fire sigil, you PU spec won’t matter much. It is pretty much the best we can do in zergs as far as tagging goes.
Any viable PU condition spec scrapes the bottom of the barrel when it comes to tagging in zergs, it is just a bad idea. I’d rather log onto my ele, guardian, necro or even power mesmer than try tagging anything in a zerg on my condition PU mesmer.
Blink basically will teleport you anywhere if you can walk there without jumping. In sPvP where the maps are very carefully made you can blink huge distances in certain places, but on most other maps there are the smallest of bumps can hinder you from blinking huge distances.
Phase retreat is a bit different since it will always prefer lower ground over higher ground, so even if you could blink up a ramp you wont be able to phase retreat there if there is any space underneath it. It can be abused (with luck mostly) in other ways though like teleporting from the tunnel under clocktower to a ramp on the other side of the building, which you could never do with blink since you can’t actually see or target that area.
