We are pretty. Nerds hate pretty people.
Sloppy, amateur design. Simple as that. GW2 is a great game and looks amazing, but don’t be fooled. Development struggles with the simplest of things like tooltip errors. Balancing a complex economy is way out of their league.
It’s not great but it’s not horrible either. Any mesmer build that doesn’t shatter much like phantasm builds and staff clone builds can utilize it very well.
It’s still not great though and even in ideal situations ether feast is most likely better, just not by a whole lot.
It’s probably blinds. Probably thieves.
I like skyhammer. I take scorpion wire and steal fear from necros. It’s fun.
Spirit watch on the other hand is barely a PvP map at all.
I don’t agree at all. Thieves are barely useful as it is when it comes to actually winning spvp matches, you know by defending and standing on tiny circles. Sure they counter some professions/builds with their burst, but condition engineers and warriors hard counter thieves too. Good mesmers can easily go head to head with good thieves too. A skilled zerker ele might get killed by an lower skilled thief occasionally, but hey just look at what noob warriors and MM necros are achieving.
MM necro are strong but fall over if you have a way to aoe the minions down. Fear spamming necros give me more trouble tbh.
Imo condition warriors and engineers are by far the worst offenders in spvp currently. A bit of skill and they can kill or at least annoy/delay/harrass/distrupt/survive anyone.
Elementalist has the same problem with scepter air auto attack.
People including myself have been asking for a speed signet or trait since launch. It’s pretty clear by now that Anet wants mesmers to GEAR for speed if they want to.
The thing I am most negative about it IE not getting fixed like they said it would. It wouldn’t change much in terms of staff viability but it was a fun change I was really looking forward to.
PvP is definitely a good place to improve. If you are good in spvp it only gets better in WvW where you can inflate your stats much much more.
Condition PU is definitely viable in soloQ but you do rely on people killing themselves which does not always work out well.
Mesmer is the same as thief, they look immortal and strong if you have no idea how they work. If you actually play them you will quickly figure out that they only have a couple of tricks up their sleeves and have big vulnerabilities.
How do I ‘get the stars to align’ to do 14k with one hit with my Ele?(Who has no invisibility mechanic and less armor). Oh that’s right, I can’t.
Firegrab and strength runes say hi
The stars aligned for that 13k. Usually a thief is lucky to see a 7k backstab crit in pvp.
They should just have made wardrobe changes in PvP free so that all PvE heroes could have still parade their legendaries while making gear choices a dropdown just like amulets and sigils. A tiny bit of logic would have gone a long way, like the dumb UI having to click twice to switch from wardrobe to dyes to equipment.
Instead of Illusionary Invigoration, I’d take Illusionary Elasticity. Clone attacks now bounce as well (yes it’s been fixed)
I don’t know in what parallel universe you exist, but I just tested it again for the millionth time and it most certainly has NOT been fixed.
I don’t like that it competes with IP.
I’m going to stick with my thief for a while. It’s always between mesmer and thief for me, and not delivering on the illusionary elasticity fix has sucked all the fun out of mesmer for me. Shortbow3 nerf is pretty substantial, but I’ll live.
Or just make the clone you know, leap, instead of slide.
It was the first thing I went and tested on dummies.. not fixed. Didn’t even make it into the patch notes. Perhaps they though it would be too big of a buff to condition staff mesmers..
It’s really not useful in any way. It can potentially be a pleasant and very random bonus, at least in WvW. Worth 30 points? no way. Perhaps in PvE there are some very specific situations/encounters where you could abuse it, but then again we are not exactly doing heroic progression in this game..
So disappointed no staff clone awesomeness. Pff this really sucks.
It’s now officially april 16th.kittenanet.
Try to understand. Try REALLY HARD.
Arena Net is in EST. GMT -5:00. They said it would be out on the 15th. That is /IN THEIR TIME ZONE/.
I know it’s a phenomenally hard concept that it’s not the same time everywhere on the planet at the same time, and that the company is going to use the time /they’re in/. But I’m sure you can understand if you REALLY try.
It’s always fun being called stupid by an obvious mentally challenged parrot and corporate fan that loves to scavenge the internet for semantic arguments. Reflecting irl ftw.
Anet is a business and we are costumers. When half your costumers live in Europe while the other half live in America, the decent thing to do is say 15th US, 16th EU. All this is little more than a PR blunder, but frustrating no less.
Omg is that a twilight in your inventory?!?

I’m always baffled by these threads. I know some of you people understand how programming works. So many things are dependent on other things, and you might not even realize change A broke system B until later on – and then you spend hours trying to reproduce the bug so you can fix it. It’s like you’re playing Jenga but some of the blocks are invisible so you don’t realize stuff was balanced on the block you pulled out until it collapses.
Even a seemingly insignificant change can have unexpected consequences. One person makes a text field slightly bigger (pets can now have 15-letter names instead of 12!*) and suddenly your whole game crashes.
Obviously they want to make sure as much of it works as possible, knowing that when they release it into the wild two dozen people will still manage to break something in a way they never anticipated anyway.
*based on a true story.
Good thing you don’t work for Anet then with how easily you get frustrated and flustered professionally.
My problem is the bad PR. Don’t say the 15th if the patch won’t hit the 15th in one of the two major regions your costumers play and pay from.
5 more hours and it’s not even the 15th anymore where I live. I don’t like this.
It took some time, but cyber elitism, thinly veiled bragging and kitten flexing already seeped through most aspects of this game as well. If a skada or recount were introduced, the whole game would change instantly, and frankly I don’t even think Anet itself would be capable of keeping up with the balance pressure.
You should quickly unbind one so you can sell it and buy another one
It’s the thing I look forward to most. Imagine 3 bifrost clones spamming winds of chaos, in sPvP too! might be almost as awesome as trident.
Condition PU is very annoying to fight against, and that is why there is so much hatred for it on the internet. In reality though, condition PU mesmers can only kill stupid and very slow people. All someone has to do to survive a PU mesmer is walk away and/or cleanse the torment from the scepter block. Without the torment PU mesmer has very mediocre/bad damage, and obviously no way to chase anybody.
Also it is not very forgiving at all if you plan on ever killing anybody. If you want to kill somebody with a PU build you need to squeeze as much damage as possible out of nothing, and good luck doing that against good players.
I also wouldn’t say PU is useless for spvp. There are definitely better builds, but PU is no worse off than most thief builds and they can definitely contribute in some situations. Like distracting 2+ people somewhere while your team caps everything, decent support in teamfights, generally distracting and annoying the other team, chaos storm rezzing/stomping.
Landing a leap immobilize is frustrating with lag. Miss that that and your pony’s one trick just got screwed up. I guess using phantasm builds could kinda work, but still not a great idea since for example every mesmer has to occasionally time distortion well or else dead.
Are these forums dead or what? last updated 2 months ago, with 1 year old builds inside..
You’ll be a ghetto commander, but it’s possible in most situations. In big 50vs50vs50+ situations though you might end up kitteng your server over by dying too fast causing your zerg to scatter. If you are on a serious or big server I’d definitely go with Warrior or Guardian, even Necromancer works much better.
Also don’t overlook the fact that ele’s lower health pool makes all heals look bigger on them. Ether Feast is an extremely strong heal, coupled with the regeneration from PU mesmers don’t have it too bad in PvP/WvW. If you do get caught out by a thief, you can always reset with stealth. If your cooldowns are not up, juke away from him with whatever stealth you have available. If you manage get caught out with absolutely no cooldowns up, well you die. Such is life in GW2 with thieves.
Hey guys, which profession in your opinion has the best tagging potential in big scale 50vs50+ blob fights?
I am looking for a completely selfish build with mostly dire or soldier gear and a reliable source of stability that can survive the frontline while dealing just enough aoe and/or cleave damage to tag as many people as possible. Preferably some ranged tagging potential too. If they can exceed the 5target cap on some skills even better.
My main is a mesmer so you can probably understand my frustrations. I have been thinking about necromancer, warrior and guardian, but if there are better options I’d love to hear about them.
What is your ultimate tagging build?
I have noticed that I can play without any notable lag even in 50vs50 zerg fights, but the real lag starts when it is 50vs50vs50. I have also noticed that once I see one of those big 3 server blob fights, the whole map starts lagging regardless of proximity to those zergs.
I also had enormous skill lag in the jumping puzzle starting area, I couldn’t use any skills except for decoy, blink and dodge rolls. I had to relog before I could use skills again.
When I say lag I mean considerable FPS drop and at the very least slight delays on skills. I have noticed that phantasms spawn but don’t even attack and projectiles sometimes getting completely lost without hitting anything well within their range.
Uhm, unless I am reading it wrong EVERYONE will be able to get at least 2 mistforged weapons even if your server places last.
100 tickets for the hero weapon and 250 badges for the gift and some gold will make a mistforged weapon, so even if you place last and only get 200 tickets you will still be able to make 2 if you want to.
Hello, I am playing from Greece and the game is completely unplayable. It freezes, fastforwards, freezes etc. PvP hotjoin list gives me an error that my client can’t connect to the game servers..
My internet works fine for everything else, but GW2 is completely unplayable. I read that a cable broke in Asia somewhere a couple of days ago, but obviously I don’t live there nor did I lag yesterday or this morning.
Anyone else having extreme lag suddenly?
Having a think about the sources for raw coin I estimate that:
1. The amount $ to gems to gold is actually higher than most of us would anticipate
2. Although a single dynamic event reward is rather low for the individual player, in the aggregate across all players this is a major source of raw coin.
Exactly.
That’s not my point at all. My point is that Anet’s theoretical greed is the only reason legendaries were designed to be BoE instead of BoA. I’m sure they regret that design now, but there is nothing more to it.
Semantically no the TP has nothing to do with buying gold with a credit card, but obviously the whole reason you would do that in the first place is the TP.
You are very articulate but you cannot grasp the fact that one doesn’t exist without the other. There is little point in trying to explain the obvious to you.
What you are missing is that the whole game is designed around the TP, while WoW for example is most certainly not designed around the auction house. The big difference is that Anet profits from players using the TP, unlike other adventure games.
Please explain how ANet profits from players using the TP? Gem Store yeah but the TP?
They are very obviously connected and part of the same thing, for example you can buy a legendary for 2k gold or 500 dollars. I can’t explain thinking.
Pistol mainhand
1- Auto attack extremely similar to staff air1, a bouncing bullet. Maybe less damage but increased projectile speed. Only bounces from enemies, not allies. Pure damage nothing else, decent for tagging GASP!
2. Low damage AoE circle that stays on the ground for 3 seconds, 8 second cooldown. Great for tagging GASP!
3. Weaker version of what the pistol phantasm does, decent single target damage on whatever cooldown.
tag tag tag tag
