Give 80 skillpoints I say. It is just not fun how easy scaled up level whatevers with whatever leveling gear drop.

Melee champions are very easy to solo with deceptive evasion, even in full glass cannon gear. One of the nice perks of being a mesmer!

They are one of the weakest tagging professions of the game, if not the weakest. They are also the slowest out of combat profession without centaur runes (assuming you want to get MF gear) and the time you spend moving between events quickly adds up.

Mesmers are not useless and can still tag decently, it’s just other professions can tag mobs much much much more reliably and just plain better than mesmer.

If all you want to do is farm gold and karma efficiently you definitely picked the wrong profession.

OP has a very good point. The gold/hour in WvW is complete kitten compared to farming CS events or even running dungeons period. Anyone who thinks they make decent gold/hour doing intense WvW zerging/karma train has no idea how lucrative PvE can be.

Putting loot directly into your bags would be a small step in the right direction, but even that would not be enough.

As long as it is not vizunah it should be fun. Deso vs Elona vs SFR would be awesome, but I don’t see how that could happen any time soon (because of you guessed it, vizunah)

Deso is fine. Vizunah is 1st, with SFR, elona and deso all sharing 2nd place. Should come down to the same a few weeks after reset.

Currently it is a disaster, especially on high pop servers. Absolute disaster, far far worse than it was before.

X/dagger elementalist is really the most well rounded troll in WvW. Only thing they lack is damage. Crazy good survivability, control and escape ability. Also great group support.

Mesmers are also great trolls. Very good (burst) damage and survivability. Not so great for soaking damage and other zergy activities, and not as great at resetting fights or escaping as thieves and elementalists are. Unique and very important support with portal, timewarp and mass invisibility. Can pull/blow people off walls and ledges.

Thieves can be extremely annoying, but they are the definition of one trick ponies. Other than instant killing solo noobs whenever your cooldowns are up and resetting the fight if you fail, there is not much else notable you can bring to the table. Ghetto spec thieves are just average.

So to answer your question, 2 skilled elementalists could be a terror on any map so I would go with that. The skillcap is pretty high on both ele and mesmer though.

It is completely shameful. Anet completely failed me with ascended gear. Looking better =/ having better stats. Shameful.

I miss blizzard. I wish blizzard would buy GW2 from ncsoft and then actually clean up and balance this sneaky and sloppy mess. Make it the amazing game it deserves to be.

With deceptive evasion, illusionary persona and zerker leveling gear you can easily survive all of your personal story and take on multiple vets and even solo some champion mobs.

Toughness and vitality are really not that important for mesmer survival.

You can blame elona for deso being in t2 this week.

While I do think that HP distribution across professions is the result of pretty sloppy and random design, mesmers do not need an HP nerf.

Stickying a specific build thread on an official forum is silly and doesn’t happen on any serious game’s official forum. Osicats thread gets bumped to death anyways by many people including the author, so all is good.

Yes actually. Crazy good burst and most survivability comes from skills, not gear.

Burst is AoE though, not single target like LB.

I think we can all agree that IP and deceptive evasion are two disproportionally important and powerful traits, which is not fun and a problem for obvious reasons.

Just to be clear no one is saying condition mesmers are unviable. They are decent but just suboptimal compared to other professions.

You do not need recount or skada to conclude that mesmer’s potential condition dps is suboptimal, or that other profession’s condition dps is superior to mesmer’s condition dps.

MF gear is not great on a mesmer. I have MF sets on my mesmer, elementalist and warrior, and believe me mesmers get the least out of it.

My advice would be figure out what build and gear you want, and start doing dungeons, farm gold or whip out your credit card.

It is viable and ok, but definitely not optimal as far as damage goes. If you run with a tight group that doesn’t need your damage and only wants your support than sure go for it. If you want pve condition damage other professions do that much much better.

It can be great occasionally, but for the most part it is extremely unreliable.

Deceptive evasion is really the turning point. Of course you also need other traits to start doing reasonable damage.

That made me chuckle. Swap is one of the buggiest and least responsive mesmer skills out there, not to mention crucial to set up shatter burst. Swap catching a d/d ele mid rtl LOL

I main both a mesmer and an ele, and believe me we don’t want portal on ele. As someone else pointed out it is a kiss of death as far as balancing goes. Ele is mobile enough as it is anyways. Engineer seems like a more reasonable candidate. Maybe something like a tiny asura gate.

I think that greatly increasing the attack speed of scepter1 and greatly reducing the cast time on scepter3 would be perfect and make the scepter a for real viable weapon choice.

With deceptive evasion, a GS or a staff and the correct traits, we can already poop out clones faster than most champion mobs can swing their auto attack. If scepter is supposed to be the weapon of choice for rapid clone generation, scepter1 needs a big change, and increasing it’s attack speed would be a simple and cheap solution. The damage is already utter kitten, but if need be reduce the damage to compensate.

It is as if this high budget team of amazing devs created this huge beautiful game, finished it, and then left 3 interns to monitor, balance and patch everything inbetween expansions.

It is when I see Anet stating thing like “In PvP and WvW we see people using AOEs on enemy players rezzing other etc” that I miss Blizzard.

Enough with the cheap bandaid fixes, typos and bugs in tooltips, atrocious imbalance. Hire some people to clean up and fix this mess, the shine is starting to wear off!

If they mess with that, they basically break the entire profession (not being dramatic here) and would have to seriously redesign and compensate in other areas and Anet has pretty much proven that they are not capable and willing to balance their game on that level.

It is not great, not because mirror sucks, but because ether feast is just so much better.

It has great synergy with centaur runes though.

I would be happy with a signet.

What I would really like is for focus swiftness to stack with regular swiftness, and the CD on blink to be lowered by a reasonable amount.

That would give us not perma swiftness, but at least a low CD blink might bring us a bit closer to thieves in mobility.

The damage and scaling on sword2 is really not all that. It is mediocre, if not bad, for a melee cleave cooldown skill.

Take light armor into consideration, the distortion on sword2 is great but also necessary. Without it, melee mesmer specs would be a joke reserved for “creative” people that have never seriously played a min/max MMO.

Full zerker is really not a bad idea. Throwing in some valkyrie/knights is also fine.

Stat budget on different item slots is pretty sloppy, so you can end up making some bad choices with hybrid builds sacrificing far more crit% than necessary.

It is good. Hopefully this will allow Anet to finally do some decent and reasonable balancing.

I don’t mind the butterflies, it’s the pink that does kinda bother me. I’d like it more if they were a mix of blue, purple, white and some pink instead of just hot pink.

What really bothers me are the sounds that some skills make, like the GS auto attack, blink and illusion explosion. So loud! Gotta turn down the sound when I’m on my mesmer.

Trident clones are absolutely amazing. I really enjoy underwater combat on my mesmer. Spear is also great with amazing mobility.

Mimic kinda takes the cake here. Mantras are obviously not popular either, and signet of midnight is kitten.

A skilled tanky d/d ele can give any mesmer a very hard time. If you are glass canon though you will get bursted and facerolled like everyone else by a good mesmer.

Best thing you can do is just melt away all the illusion, heal up after mind wreck. If you are still being outplayed just run away. No one runs away as well as an ele, except maybe a thief.

It’s also great for chaining portals to safely and quickly move golems across the map.

Blink doesn’t ever leave my bar, and I also have to have either null field or arcane thievery. I feel naked and weak without blink and condition removal.

Last utility depends on what I am doing, usually I take feedback or mirror images if I don’t need feedback.

It has a longer cooldown and they can’t trait it for 1200 range. No decent ele will ever use their flash for damage anyways.

Catching noob elementalists? Easy. Catching a d/d ele of equal skill? technically impossible.

At level 80, my condition mesmer is pretty difficult to kill and I can solo some really ridiculous pulls.

Look, all professions have suboptimal specs that can muscle through sticky pve and pvp situations.

That does not change the fact that mesmers suck at condition dps when compared to all other professions, and there is no disputing that.

Magic find set on a mesmer doesn’t feel great. Warriors, engineers, guardians and even elementalists do magic find at least two times better than mesmers. Just saying!
