Reporting "Kick player" abuse (fotm/dungeons)

Idk if it’s the correct report or not, but when I get kicked for no reason other than “my guildy needs the run more than you”, even after all the work I did, I usually just report for LFG system abuse, because I believe that’s abusing LFG if you’re giving the run away to someone who “needed the run more” than you, who just put in all the work.

Also, there’s already a ton of bosses that can 1 shot my berserker thief/ele/guard if I’m dumb about it. Lupi, Subject Alpha (alpha can actually pretty much down any class instantly if they fail to dodge properly, regardless of gear used) Alphard, etc etc
Regular mob trash wouldn’t matter because unless it’s a boss, most people don’t bother with it, stealth past, or just leeroy jenkins past, whatever, you get the point.

edit: Forgot to mention that pretty much every boss in fotm 49 can insta-down my thief/ele/guard if I’m dumb about it, as well. Pretty sure a lot of those bosses can also 1-shot medium-hp pools too depending on whether or not the meta build uses traits that give +vit

Yeah, the point of using berserker gear is to have high dps, and using it effectively means that you’re using blinds/aegis/weakness/dodges/vigor/chickens/turtles/god etc. to mitigate the damage intake. Armor other than berserker is essentially just a crutch, if you don’t need that crutch then there’s no reason to have that crutch.

If a feature like this IS introduced, I’d like it to be toggleable. I don’t really use consumables very often anymore aside from food, and the extra UI clutter is something I wouldn’t want on my screen. As it stands, I already think there’s enough stuff all over my UI, that I don’t really want any more of it. I’m completely fine opening my inventory to use consumables.

It’s hard to say. I’d personally just get it, because I would really hate to see mistfire wolf never unlocked on my elite skills.
The golem banker is amazing for key farming, you get a cool mini rytlock, but apart from that there’s not really anything else notable.

I wish I’d have gotten a sweet armor set to go with my own digital deluxe edition. But I guess getting the 2k gems for ~8g a few months after the game came out was worth it too. 2k gems now costs like 300g. lol

[Suggestion] Re-entering instances after DC

A client sided save can be made per checkpoint and communicated again to server in case of a DC after reconnecting. I do not see why this should not be technically doable.

I think the problem (though I’m not entirely sure) is that it probably is doable, but it would be client sided, which means hackers could probably tinker with those things somehow and set their checkpoint to where they never were, then force DC and well, be at that checkpoint.

It’s also entirely possible it could be done server-sided where that wouldn’t be an issue.

Yes, the story progression is exactly what I’m talking about. Hidden Arcana is the last instance from LS 02×05.

Another thought on this topic: can we get the ability to join party members in story instances already in progress? I was running Hidden Arcana with my husband a few days ago, he was the instance owner, I DC’d, and we had no way to re-group. Fortunately it was early in the instance so he just logged out and we started over, but it was annoying none-the-less.

A way to let players re-enter story instances they DC from (or heck, maybe not even DC from) would be awesome too. Although I think it would probably have to just be re-enter instances they DC from, because I think it might lead to the selling of the LS achievements, and I’m not entirely sure if that would be met with kindness from the majority of the players, as there’s already a lot of people upset about those who solo dungeons and sell paths at the end (I’m not one of these people, but I’ve had people enter my sale for arah before and tell me that I should be ashamed of myself <.<)
And yeah, I think I was pretty fortunate to not have DC’d from Hidden Arcana. I was doing it solo on my mesmer and oh my goodness did it take a long time to do. Sadly my phantasms were of no use there.

I’d love to see a feature like this. It’s super annoying when I go in to solo Arah to kitten around and my internet kittenes itself and oops, I guess I have to start from scratch again.

On another note that I believe is related to the topic, I feel like event rewards could be implemented differently. I think about 1/3 times my internet for whatever reason, LOVES to DC the moment before tequatl is killed, and well, those 40 minutes I spent in the map helping organize, and then killing tequatl are all for nothing. It really sucks.
Maybe make event rewards be granted to people even if they’re offline? I know that when you attack or do something related to an event it puts you on a list somewhere for participation, and I guess if you log off (or DC) you get taken off that list. Would be really neat if you could stay on the list, so people who DC at the end of teq (or similar situations) don’t get screwed over.

Well, I answered to your asumption that it would be worse for wvw players to do the PvE part of map completion – but guess what no wvw player ever complains about it. It’s only the odd argument someone throws in whenever another thread like this pops up (once every other week). And why don’t wvw-players complain? Because they’ve been PvE players themselves and because you have to work in wvw to achieve something the work isn’t just smashing 1 and hoping for bags, although people who don’t know real wvw think that’s how it works. So, we do the part we don’t like to get what we want to have – like me killing the Hyleks every half an hour for the past 3,5 months. In return I get an awesome fight for a T3 tower like the one I’m just coming from.

If you honestly believe all PvE is, is smashing 1 and hoping for loot bags, then I’m sorry, but that’s not at all how it works.

I would like a option to lock the camera view to the direction that the char is facing. Older MMOs had this so why aint it here?

Pretty sure this already exists. If you use an attack while moving the camera around with right click, it’ll align where your character is looking with the camera. If you’re moving the camera with right click and move in any direction, it will also realign your character with the camera.

You probably don’t understand how the mystic forge works. Also, a sample size of 4-5 tries isn’t remotely viable information to go off of.

You put 4 rare daggers in? You’ll always get a dagger in return, with an 80% chance of it being another rare, and a 20% chance of it being exotic. I can’t confirm exactly the drop rate on precursors, but I remember reading a thread somewhere on Reddit that it’s about a 1/800 chance of getting a precursor from 4 weapon rares, regardless of their type.

AlliedKhajiit.2794

Sounds fun !! Like ons side charr and the other side humans ! Or sylvari on one side and undead on the other !

Would you like to explain what kind of mode that is for those of us who are not familiar with those games?

Each side has a base to protect , The other side tries to destroy it. There is 3 paths to the enemy base. The is a never ending stream of AI units walking the paths and fighting each other. Then the hero (Player) makes a diffrence by destroying the other side’s AI so his side can gain ground. The first one to get his army to the enemy base wins as it is kinda impossible to destroy it without a army because of the defences.

Anyone with a better explanation ? I suck at this

Edit for errors

I think I might be able to do a better job at explaining it.

So in League of Legends (LoL) the primary objective in ranked games is to destroy the enemies’ nexus. The nexus is located at the middle of their base, and simultaneously, you have a nexus yourself to defend. There’s 3 main lanes, top, mid, and bottom, which the players use to gain ground towards the enemy base (and eventually destroy their nexus), as well as a jungle. I’m not sure about the composition, but I think there’s usually 2 people on top lane, 1 on mid lane, and 2 on bottom lane, and the jungler moves between lanes whenever help is needed the most in one of those lanes. There are big turrets in each lane, and several of them, and your job is to defeat them to help your AI units marching in the lanes progress to the enemies’ nexus. That’s as best as I can explain it.

Regarding the game mode being introduced into gw2, I don’t think it’s be that fun or interesting. With a game like LoL or Dota 2, there’s a ton of ‘Champs’ or classes, to pick from, whereas in gw2 there’s just 8 classes.

I would personally love to see Capture the Flag introduced to PvP. A proper version of it too, not just the gimmicky version of it on Battle of Khylo.

Were the other bonus chests automatically opened? I can’t remember for sure but it seemed like I had more tokens than I started with for the dungeons I didn’t open, but I don’t really know for sure. [Suggestion] Customizable Map

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AlliedKhajiit.2794

AlliedKhajiit.2794

The story
Recently, I started playing a game called ‘Legend of Grimrock (2)’. It’s an old-school dungeon crawler, and a feature it had that I thoroughly enjoyed was the ability to customize your map. You could put several different markers on points in the map, with your own note to go with the marker. If there was a chest with a certain item in it that you might want to go back for later, you could throw down a note on the map so you could be reminded of where it was. So I thought, the same feature in Gw2 would be a huge QoL upgrade to a lot of people.
Now, the customizable map in Legend of Grimrock was a little limiting, as the only thing you could do was add markers with your own notes, so in this suggestion there’ll be some other features that I, and hopefully others, would like to see brought about.

The features

  1. More than one personal waypoint, along with the ability to set a small footnote with the personal waypoints, as well as custom names for your personal waypoints.
  2. A dynamic legend (aka a map key) that has all your personal waypoints, that you can click on to have the map instantly center on that waypoint.
  3. Being able to draw persistent lines over your map. This feature already half exists, however the lines you can draw aren’t persistent and disappear after several seconds.
  4. The ability to share your custom maps with other players in-game.
  5. The ability to have multiple custom maps that you can switch to and from

Being a day 1 player with over 3,000 hours in the game, one thing that always annoyed me was that I often forgot where I got certain items. For example, sometimes there’s a consumable that I particularly like at the end of an event, and sometimes I forget where that event was, the wiki won’t help, etc. I thought about the idea of a customizable map from the first time this happened to me, but I never really pursued the idea much until now. With what looks like several new maps coming down the pipeline, players helping other players with information they learn about the new maps with a system like this, I believe would bring the community a bit closer.

  • It would add a degree of realism to the game. We’re living in a breathing, changing world, and many people in this world would assuredly have different maps.
  • I’m personally not much of an RPer, but I always enjoy that creative part of the game, and I can see RPers benefiting a ton from a feature like this.
  • It would make guild missions a ton easier to handle. Instead of directing a new player who just entered a guild to an external website with guides (Dulfy, I’m talking about you) you could simply just share a map with guild bounty paths, trek locations, and whatever other things guilds do. In line with making them easier to do, nobody would have to constantly alt-tab to check an external website to help them realign their selves on the correct path.
  • You could help newer players trying to get into dungeons by simply sharing your map of the dungeon you’ve crafted with footnotes of all the encounters and nice ways of dealing with the encounters.

These are just a few possibilities that could arise from such a feature. It’s something I would love to see introduced, and I’m sure there’s a lot of people who can agree. If there’s some crucial point you can think of that maybe I missed, please let us all know!

[sugg] dailies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AlliedKhajiit.2794

AlliedKhajiit.2794

I definitely agree with the idea of a new daily quest type system.
It would be fun to get an actual reward for doing some dynamic event, or a jumping puzzle, (but not limited to) instead of a few greens and blues.
Great suggestion!
Also, I think it’s worth pointing out the problem that people have a hard time doing ALL their dailies, which includes dungeons, every single daily achievement for the total of +10 AP, fractals, and world bosses, and just can’t simply have another daily to deal with. Unfortunately, these players who care about getting every single daily done, are in a very small minority, and the majority of players don’t really care to get every single daily bonus chest from every single dungeon, event, or whatever.

There’s a lot of players (including me) who have 3,000+ hours pumped into the game, and we STILL find dynamic events we’ve never done, seen, or even heard of before. Daily quests that gave out a dynamic event for you to go do would be stellar in letting us see what we missed, for an actual, worthwhile reward.

The question is why doesn’t ANET just increase the cost of WvW armor and make it salvageable?
Anyone can give an explanation?

The explanation is really quite simple. The economy in Gw2 is controlled by player wants and needs. If Anet released gear that costed x amount of gold and was salvagable, it would set a lowest price point for anything associated with salvaging that gear. Now the market isn’t based on player wants and needs, it’s based on a minimum price point set by Anet. Yeah, you can argue that “Well there’s not a guaranteed chance you’ll get XYZ from salvaging that item”, and while that is true on a basis of individuals, on a basis of the entire population, it’s not true.

This was one of the biggest problems with Queen’s Pavilion (short of zergs). People who would die on, say, Boom-Boom, then just lay there and wait for a revive while the living people are trying to DPS race the turret that their currently-useless slab of meat is scaling up.

Still, I’ve seen people be within viewing distance of the WP in Dry Top while fighting Colocal Queen (and sometimes practically right on top of it) and still sit and scream for a revive. So no, I don’t think that making rewards teleport to the person (like in WvW) will fix it enough. I say just make them not count towards scaling and, if they stay dead long enough, remove them from having taken part in the event.

Making rewards teleport to the player, though, lends itself to more abuse by having people run in, smack the enemy around a bit, then run off and move to the next event, leaving whoever’s legitimately trying to fight the enemy to do so with less people. Why stick around to help fight when you could just tag it with a couple hits and then go get more rewards while your loot follows you? This hurts even more in fights or events where being there even temporarily can make it harder for people sticking around, be it through extra add spawns or whatever. Or heck, if someone runs in, tags champ, dies, why would they run back after WPing? They’re gonna get their loot by just sitting there. Granted, they’re no longer there to scale up, but they could have helped. Now they’d have no reason to return.

Their reason to return would be to get more loot. There’s more mobs that spawn during events, if you want loot from all those mobs, you have to stay and hit all those mobs, not just a few. They’d still get the exp/karma from participating in the event sure, but not loot.

So I have to say something about it and it’s not trash talking to waste your time. I have seen that all this mounts topics are closed by GM because people are opening the idea and say nothing about it. I’m an person who wants mounts in the game and I have a reasons why I want them.

1) You can collect them

2) They will look epic and with gw2 engine in game it would be awesome experience to have and to ride them around the Tyria

3) You go and explore faster with your epic mount and it will be more enjoyable then running and porting around

4) For longer trips get birds that carry you around or even better, the ships that you see in the game. for example in the new map, in arah dungeon story mode (this is the answer for people who will say that’s boring to ride all day long)

5) gw2 is beautiful game and we go across it just porting on those waypoints, yeah so much epicness in that. You have loading screen with picture and that’s it

6) You can made diffrerent mounts speed for lower or bigger levels (60%) for lower and (100%) for higher levels

7) Mount can be shown as an effort you put in the game, something like legendarys. If you’re a hardcore player you will probably have some epic mount, much color, much epicness, much speed, much girls and so on

This were a few ideas I have in my mind at this moment. Probably I could come with something more but this is just for beginning. For all of you who agree or disagree on this I respect your opinion but if you don’t have nothing normal to say on this topic please don’t say anything ! No need for countless comments that don’t have solid opinion on this subject.

Sure! Let’s have flying kittening mounts so every aspect of dungeons, map completion, jumping puzzles, explorer related achievements, mini dungeons, and WvW can be completely broken!

The levels exist for a sense of progression to draw a bigger crowd from people in the more common MMO field. If it weren’t for appealing to a larger crowd, I’m pretty sure levels wouldn’t exist in gw2.
Also, as the with Sept 9th feature patch, the early levels (1-15) are gotten much much more quickly, not the rest of the levels.

Sorry people! Your opinion is really important for me (and makes me smile) but I’m just too shy to answer/I don’t know how to answer a compliment
Also I’m afraid the conversation gets extended and forces me to pay attention to the game,if I’m standing in LA it is because I’m either checking my storage or inventory,or I’m reading the forums/browsing the web on my second monitor,so,I kinda pay attention to the game still and I know when people PM me,but I just pretend I’m afk for the reason I just said :P

A simple “Thanks!” is generally enough. When I compliment somebody’s avatar I feel equally as awkward and embarassed if I don’t get a reply, stuff like “They probably think I’m a creep now for checking out their character” usually floats through my head.

Full Zerkers ONLY!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AlliedKhajiit.2794

AlliedKhajiit.2794

Capable of winning? Sure. Capable of winning faster than some other combination? Not so much.

Why is Zerker not the stat set in WvW and PvP? Players usually have lower health totals than mobs, so it would stand to reason that Zerker should cut through them even faster. But it doesn’t. The reasons are things that players have that most mobs don’t. Rapid attacks, evasions, mobility, conditions, high armor relative to health, boons, and a mix of attacks. Mordrem have all of these as well. Risen don’t.

Would there be a meta in an all Mordrem dungeon? Sure. I’m betting it won’t be 5 zerkers, though. 1-3, perhaps, but not 5.

No, it would be all 5.

FYI: I have done Dredge fractal level 80 (when that was possible) with 5 berserkers. It was more of a challenge than your mordrem dungeon would be, and there would have been exactly 0 benefit of anyone wearing tankier gear.

How many Mordrem have you fought? They are way tougher than Dredge unless you completely base your survival on blind spam (which multiple mordrem are quite resistant to thanks to rapid-hit attacks and being mobile while blindspam is based on stationary fields). Dredge have two notable types: the burrowing and the boonspammers. Not that difficult to deal with both. They are also slow attackers.

5 dredge with even proportions or 5 mordrem of mixed types. I’d choose to fight the dredge every time. You wouldn’t have 10+ stacks of Torment and don’t need to be dodging immobilize from the guys that take more damage from your on-crit bleeds than the actual attacks, be worried about retaliation, or needing poison just to keep them from healing back up.

Husks alone necessitate bringing a condition build for a speedy clear. Still would only be one, but that immedietly means you don’t have 5 zerkers

Are you even aware of what a Fractal scale 80 is even like? Mobs hit hard. VERY hard. Far harder than anything in a regular dungeon. FAR harder.

And when you’re avoiding everything anyway due to low mob attack speeds, how hard they hit is irrelevant.

Yes, you have to be careful to not pull the whole room on you, but I can easily see a run where you just don’t get hit at all if you have a couple thieves for stealthing the switches and bomb/door break rooms. Back then, you also had the “stand on the clown car wheel” trick where you literally never got attacked by a champ and a ton of mobs. I know there’s a challenge. But what made that a challenge and what makes a hypothetical mordrem dungeon a challenge are two different things.

I hope you also know that the amount of mobs in a fractal scale with the level of the fractal. There’s WAY more mobs in a current fotm 50 than there is in a fotm 1. So your “lol so slow hitting attacks” rebuttle is pretty much redundant, when there’s 40 mobs to deal with, when a single hit from any of those mobs pretty much downs you instantly. I’ve fought the mordrem before on full zerker classes. They’re not difficult.

Apples to oranges. Dungeons are filled with elites, which very, very rarely have we seen on the Mordrem, and I’ve never seen more than one at a time. We’ve never seen Mordrem scaled to level 80 fractals either.

Careful pulling of the mobs does render their numbers pointless other than time. Sure, at fractal 80 those Dredge would hit stupid hard, but when you’re fighting 1-4 at a time, they still weren’t that difficult. Scorpion Wire is amazing for that purpose.

Better comparison: fight a group of Mordrem in Silverwastes, then fight a group of Dredge in Frostgorge Sound. The dredge will go down way faster with less difficulty.

Elite or not, the base mechanics for mobs are always the same. The only difference is damage and health. Yeah, for sure, mordrem are far better mechanically than silly dredge. But that doesn’t mean they’re impossible. It just means people need to adapt to the situation differently, which can still be done using zerker meta builds.

In fairness Mordrem > low level fractal dredge. In terms of basic mechanics mordrem are better.

In a low level fractal for sure. But an 80? Not a chance.

Nothing is wrong with zerker meta – its literally the only logical solution. There is no tanks (ways to pull boss aggro), no healers (everyone heals himself) in this game. Which leaves only 1 role for you – DPS.

I see this being said a lot, and I can’t really see the logic.

Assume Elementalist fighting champ with a charge ability:

Elementalist initiates fight with Fire Attunement meteor shower. (DPS)
Champ starts average attacks
Elementalist switches to Air Attunement and uses a knock back skill to keep the champ far away. (Control/Tank)
Champ charges
Elementalist uses an immobilize skill in Earth Attunement. (Tank/Control)
Immobilize wears off and champ fires off another charge
Elementalist, now at half health, switches to water attunement and fires off the two heal skills and also uses the class heal skill. (Healer/Support)
Champ starts more average attacks
Elementalist switches to Earth Attunement and uses the auto attack to weaken the champ. (Support? Maybe?)
Elementalist switches to Fire Attunement and finishes champ with a Lava Faunt and auto attacks. (DPS)

I think the chests really just need to be more rewarding with exclusive skins.
And the chests SHOULD NOT give anything tradable ever, because that would result in a huge market crash for any items acquired from the chests that are tradable. For example, black lion weapon skins.

Lets talk about the new Gem conversion [Merged]

Here’s an update for you:

It’s clear that quite a lot of you would like to have greater flexibility in using the Currency Exchange. Our intention when we designed the new interface was to streamline large volume purchases, which make up the majority of transactions.

In light of your feedback, we will update the Currency Exchange so that you can decide how you want to use it. We will keep the new streamlined system and also offer a new “Custom” button on the panel that you can use to exchange any increment of gems or gold.

We anticipate rolling this out soon. Stay tuned!

Sorry for the delay in posting this, but out of respect to our international community, we wanted to be able to post in several forums at once.

So what about the removal of the conversion rates from the API? What about the graphs? What about the mysterious ~25% jump in gem prices from gold->gems that NO other update has ever seen, and based on the fact that so many people are boycotting the kitten out of the gem store that makes clear evidence the prices were tampered with?

Isn’t the removal of the API a huge myth? It’s still there.

Ahh. Okay, thanks for the heads up. I don’t pay attention to reddit much, and I was going off the basis of gw2spidy because that’s what I used.

It still doesn’t explain that massive spike in price for gems, however.

This is by far the dumbest cash-grab I’ve ever seen. It needs to either be reverted, or re-add the custom functionality it had before. Nothing else can happen. For now, I am boycotting everything related to the gemstore, and I probably won’t recruit new players ever again.

The Account Binding of the Birthday Blaster

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I just got back from a small 2 month break, and without knowing a couple of my characters were going to get their new birthday presents, I was a bit excited to see that birthday gift come in through the mail.
It was all nice and dandy, I don’t really have much of a use for the instant 20 scroll, the booster is welcome, and the blaster is really neat. However, my main problem (and I’m sure plenty of people will agree) is that the birthday blaster is soulbound.
To me, it doesn’t make too much sense. The only situation I can see it being maybe soulbound for a reason is for key farmers, but it really doesn’t make too much of a difference on them. When you get out of the tutorial zone, everything becomes scaled, so your character wouldn’t be benefiting from the maximum stat increase of the blaster. The reason I find the soulbinding of the blaster incredibly annoying however, is because my main character has switched. It’s probably bound to happen to a lot of people, and when your new main has to wait that painstakingly long period of 2 years to get the birthday blaster for themselves, the entire bundle item just feels worthless. It’s an awesome item for those characters that have it, but when you rarely play on those characters it just feels stupid when you can’t give it to a different character.
So, my suggestion is to make the birthday blaster account bound. Personally, I think any rewards from player anniversaries that give convenience benefits like the blaster should be account bound, because the convenience is worthless if it’s on a character that’s camped at the aetherblade JP chest to get blade shards every 24 hours (or similar situation).

Thanks! I never thought of him as a use for that. With that knowledge, I went and tested on him. I found out that with persisting flames and Elementalist dagger mainhand Burning Speed, the flame wall ticks a total of 40 times, and it ticks 30 times without persisting flames.

I’m guessing the same would apply to burning retreat. Odd it doesn’t apply to fgs though.

Actually, burning speed is really strange in that it doesn’t seem to lay down a particular amount of “fire walls”. Burning retreat on the other hand, you can visibly count 6 and they tick once a second for a total of 36 hits w/o PS and 48 with, however at Burning speed seems really strange in that, for being on the ground for 6 seconds with PS and ticking 40 times, it would mean that there’s 6.6 flame walls on the ground, which makes no sense. Same without PS, it ticks 30 times over 4 seconds which means there would be 7.5 flame walls. It’s a strange skill, and they should probably update the tooltips on them to properly reflect what they actually do.
