beside the fact, that unlocking in pvp is a bad idea and it is against everything gw2 pvp stands for, its also a problem for pvpler without templates. the constant switching between chars because of the lack of templates makes this unlocking thing even worse. And dont forget that pvp people with only 5 charslots are also deleting their chars very often!

i think the devs are trying their best to get us to a good balance, but i dont think they can do it on their own. they need to get a testserver for good/pro players. So they can test their changes first with them and then decide if its worth to go online with these change or not.They seem to try this thing with the balace preview, but i think a testserver will serve this better.

about the patchnotes itself:

-pls dont bring the douple sigil thing to pvp. back up an test it again. this will buff every single 2-hand-weapon. And btw hambow has two of it -.-
-dont make these unlock-things happen in pvp. Not having to unlock things in pvp/ having a equal level to all others, is a huge thing. This may be one of the may reasons to buy gw2 if you want to pvp.
- pls nerf the immobstacking

overall i like that they dont want to make these big changes and that they want to make smaller steps. (btw sigils-changes is the opposite of what they try to do )
also i really like the pindown thing. thx for that anet

edit: i like that they try things out in pve/wvw first (like new sigils and runes or maybe the critchanges)

Your runes a pretty awsome, never thought of them also the trait choice is legit.
I have only 2 traits different: i dont use bombs—> no healing bomb trait needed. i think healing bomb is strong with this amulett but i also think that that build got enough sustain even without them. The bigbomb-gluebomb combo and the smoke bomb on the other side are an argument for bombs. i take elixir gun instead for the stunbreak, condicleanse explofinisher in heal and the 5 (heal/sustain). If you havent tried it that way …. do it!
The other thing is that i take the 65% vigor uptime, why didnt you take that trait?

After all there is not much to improve in your build i think. it does its job. I think Eg or Bombs thats a matter of playstyle and what you like (and the different traits come with the kits)

There a only 2 things i see (at least at the first look) is that:
1. the vigor trait might be a better choice
2. I think soldier amulett is better on an bunker engi with AR. With soldier you got 25k hp, that means AR comes with 6 k hp left!

In my opinion: pressing a lot of buttons isnt a indicator for skill.
Most people think thats why engi has a high skillfloor. The real reason why engi has a high skillfloor is because of the high rate of decisionmaking you have to do as an engi with all these skills available ( like on a 3kit). Also with all the warris around a wrong decision often ends directly in a downstate. Thats another point for a high skillfloor.

If you want to play engi on a high level, it really needs a lot of training and experience—> high skill
On the other side, a engi can be quite effective on bomb/nade on a lower level, even if the player only spams his skills. Thats why people argue that engi has a low skilllevel. if you are new to engi you can learn really quick and you can kill bad players easly. People often think its an easy class because of that.

But if you really want to master the class you cant spam the skills on cd even on bomb/nade. An engi also has a lot of counters. Your defensive are soft-ccs and movement+dodges. Another big point is, that as an engi there is no real rotation (like on an ele) so you have to react to the enemy and chose your skills wisely.

conclusion (my opinion):

Just playing engi doesnt take that much skill (low level) because apm =! skill

mastering engi/playing on a high level takes a lot of skills, because of decisionmaking, movement ,dodges, combos, counters (stun, imobilize, condis…) and dont forget that at least half of the skills are skillshots

—> And thats where all classes should be: Good class to begin on low level, but hard to master + a lot of different builds/playstyles

They should just make a report option for exploiting!
We need this. Its easier to report these guys (+ they get banned for a couple of days), than fixing every new exploit (even if this one isnt new)

-is there a plan for some changes to make skyhammer more enjoyable? i may be ok with not removing it for soloq (because you put a lot of work in it), but you should at least change some things( make the hammer dodgeable!)

- can we have some new maps with less chokepoints and more open-field-battles. Also what are your plans on DTM and GVG. I would love to see 3v3 DTM (i think 3 is enough, more players would cause too much effects)

- Are there plans to reduce the particleeffects?

-what changes to the ranksystem can we expect

-same on rewards

-When can we expect Buildtemplates (this is the most important question for me)
Every map has its own style, so its important to change your build, but the current system makes it horrible for me. i have to retrait just because of 5 points in a different line, and my inventory i full of runes and sigills. A lot of people have many chars with the same class because of this)

-pvp-only skins?

-Pls make a 1vs1 q happen (without leaderboards, this would make it horrible, because of hardcounters and trollbuilds)

-Same on surrender-button

-and last but not least:
Can we expect a penalty for skyhammer farmers?

1. Buildtemplates (!!!)
2. New explorable zones/dungeons/ guildmissis (raids)
3. better AI/movement in Pve.
(The mobs need a better movement. If they`re in a massiv aoe they should go out of it, also the should kite, so you need your ccs in pve to. Another thing is that they shouldnt ball so much. This would destroy the pull-in-a corner-and-dps-them meta (zerkermeta)) —> make new dungeons with a better ai, maybe something like uw in gw1
4. New gamemodes in pvp (gvg with guildhalls)
5. Reduce the effects in pvp
(at the moment i think pvp is fun to play but horrible to watch, if you see a shoutcasted game you cant see anything beside tatics and maybe buildchoices. Try it out (Devs!). look at a teamfight on youtube and pause the game every 2 seconds, than count how many names you see and how many of them you actually see (bodys))

Engis are not op, simply because they have hardcounters (condis and cc).

They are strong in 1 vs1 situations against some classes (if played right), but your team can just send a necro to his point or maybe a good war(also a s/d thief can make it (depends on thief and engi)). So i think there is no problem with engis in 1 vs 1 situations, you just have to coordinate your team.

Engis can also be very strong in teamfight, if you let them spamm their granades out of range, but once you set your thief or greatswordmes or necro or war… on him the nades wont hurt you anymore. so you have to watch out for the nades as a team.
If they are on the point, just give him imobilize and hes dead

so in conclusion i can say:
Engi is strong if played right, but can also be counterd by your team. So Engis are in a good spot, not op and not too weak. So why change anything?
