Why nerf it? Because too many whiners thought warrior was OP and hundred blades was OP. Which of course is not true. While pushing HB to the the limits, apparently too many people thought is was a cheap OP mechanic in PvE because it allowed a warrior to do large amounts of burst damage at once and thats unfair because they want to do the same with a bearbow ranger, which apparently isnt fair. I know its stupid, but thats what happenes when too many people whine about something stupid.

I’ve been seeing this a lot lately, in fact, I saw a mesmer the other day in Arah path 2 skip the entire sections of the dungeon and port people. They weren’t selling the dungeon and it was my group, but it was odd to see them able to do that.
I really wish selling dungeon paths was bannable, because trying to get a legitimate group together only to see “Selling Path X for X gold! Boss at 1%!” in the lfg tab is getting irritating.
if they are people who can solo it they probably have people to run with so you just wouldnt see any lfgs at all

Yes, people can play how they want. The problem is nothing else is viable, period. This is the fundamental problem GW 2 ran into the moment it launched. The “play how you want because there’s no trinity” looked great on paper. It was fresh, a change. But in the end taking away healers and tanks left us with only DPS. So the answer to “should GW2 be all about DPS?” is a resounding yes.
Please do the world a favor and stop using the word “viable” in this context. The word you’re looking for is “optimal”.
If you want to tank and heal and be even remotely effective at it, do WvW and PvP. For PvE, especially dungeons, it’s just a waste of time to not spec dps. I mix my builds up a bit because like a lot of people I find zerker mindless and boring, but the overall builds are always geared towards dps. You have to understand where these other players are coming from. A lot of people have the zerker mindset because, again, without the trinity, GW 2 IS just a dps game. They just don’t understand why anybody would spec for anything other than damage in PvE environments, where tanking and healing is pointless. It’s fun, I’ll openly admit it. Cleansing conditions and tossing out heals on my Ele is my favorite, but it’s better suited for PvP, and that’s just all there is to it.
Lack of trinity does not necessitate a DPS race. The DPS race exists because the bosses in PvE are pretty much immune to CC. Another contributing factor is dodge: a lot of big hits are easy to avoid by dodging.
Make bosses less immune to CC and give them some unavoidable attacks and presto, you’ve just created a demand for CC specs.
Heck, if you want to go further, you could totally put in bosses that will buff themselves with boons that can be removed/stolen/corrupted to create a demand for specs that can do that.
Man, you could even give bosses more resistance towards direct damage to make condi builds more appealing.

and as long as zerker warr has a trait that lets them bleed on crit(can be any class with these kinds of traits) that can over ride part of a fully condi specced class’s dps then i dont think they will ever be more appealing
Am i the only one that prefers ice bow than fgs? And be honest, did they cut the dps of the fgs that much that it became useless or you are blowing this out of proportions?
the fgs 4 damage is kitten now (trail) they reduced the damage of the ticks and made the trail unstackable

@FzeroWing: I actually figured that out last night, buying the full set w/ karma. I think I have the karma to do it, or close to it. Is there any reason NOT to? Is karma used for anything else? Part of the fun of doing dungeon runs is to get the tokens to buy the gear, so if I already have an exotic set then the drive to do dungeons is lessened. What do you all think of me buying an exotic zerk set with karma? Or, should I buy a rare set and then run CoF for the Flame Legion set (looks cool).
As for weapons, should I just buy the best sets I can afford from TP? Is there another way to get exotic weapons besides crafting and TP?
What about accessories? Should I buy rare and do fractals until I can buy ascended? Should I buy exotic? Is there another option I should consider? I have like 30something laurels, idk how many you need for an ascended set or if I should be spending them on something other than accessories.
As for builds, I’ve worked on two. I’m going to try to do D/D and S/P, and see if I can’t do alright with D/D. If not, I’ll go SB. In any case, I have:
1) This one that focuses on precision/fury
2) This one that focuses on dodge/mightThe only differences between them are the food and runes. Or should I just be getting ruby? I think I like #1 more due to the synergy of fury/quickness.

I just hit lvl 72 last night, and am quickly approaching 80. I am currently playing a D/D & SB condi build for leveling, but I know this isn’t particularly good for end-game PvE content. I have played AC-CoF in story mode, and AC/CM in explore a few times. I want to practice playing dungeons well, learning them and hopefully eventually guiding others though them.
I’m not new to GW2 (I have 80 mesmer and warrior), but I never “got serious” with either of them, putting them away to level a new profession. Thief “feels right” to me, so I want to start exploring more of what the game has to offer in terms of PvE.
I’ve read the Book of Shadows, the Dulfy.net dungeon speed run guide, and probably 308749234702384 posts here in the forums. I know these posts show up all the time, but I’d like some general advice with respect to play, gear and builds for someone learning dungeons. I know zerk is the way to go for optimum play, but maybe it’s not the best for those learning the dungeons?
I don’t have a lot of gold yet (~30g), so I need to be careful about where I spend it for now. I assume I’ll be buying all rare/exotic gear (depending on cost) to start with, and then as I run them more and amass gold, I’ll be able to buy better. But for newbie’s first set of gear, what should I focus on? Knights? Zerk? Other? Maybe one set is super cheap and great to start, and then you use that to lean and save up for better? Maybe getting tokens from exp mode in one dungeon is the way to get gear? I’ve also been saving up all my materials since I started leveling. I don’t know very much about the finer points of crafting and I haven’t done any with my thief, so maybe crafting is the right way to get gear or sell for gold to buy gear? As you can see, there’s a lot I don’t know (and don’t know I don’t know
).
Perhaps you guys can show me some build w/ gear in them and explain why I should go that route? Maybe you’ve learning from your own experience what worked or didn’t, or what you wish you’d done when first getting into “serious” dungeon play?
I know the advice could depend on my skill, since, say zerk is more damage but knight is more survive, so the answer really depends on how good I am and how well I can avoid damage. So, let’s say that I understand conditions, I understand the need for stacking/skipping, I’m fairly good at dodging and understand the combat mechanics of GW2. But I’m not an expert by any means.
One last note on gear: I do intend on eventually exploring WvW, so I’d like to be able to get gear that’s also viable there, but it’s not my priority.
Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions. I’m not a member of a guild on my thief so maybe I should find a friendly one and ask people to show me the ropes. I’m on TC, and I hear good things about AARM, but feel free to advise me on that too. Oh, and just to be clear, I always put things like “looking for guide”, “New to this dungeon”, “all welcome” and the like in my LFG desc. I’m polite, listen, and truly wish to learn and not be a hindrance to others.
TL;DR: I’m new to “serious” dungeon play and am looking for advice/builds/gear for learning them to become a useful member of group play.

I have a question. Right now I’m running a sword, i feel the damage is great but not very fun to play, i was curious if I use a greatsword and the trait two handed training would the dmg be better then sword? Anything else i can do to make it better then sword?
Skills are more useful on greatsword and i feel I’m always using all of them. Not with my sword though.
Will the new damage buff also be enough you think to make greatsword another option?
initiate with GS 3 and 2 then swap to sword for the autos iirc

Check out the way I fought him — you can do this on any class. He really is easy as hell. Unless you repeatedly fail to dodge his one attack that freezes you, there’s pretty much no danger.

Like I said, CM is only a disaster of a dungeon for people that don’t know it… but same can be said about just about all dungeons. The trash mobs in CM in particular all do kill shots and/or inflict a ton of bleed, so it’s generally really unforgiving for people that suck and when groups don’t have reflects.

I mostly play ranger and the two farming places ive always been going to are frostgorge and cursed shore.
Cursed shore gives me the mkst gold/hour but when i try going there as a warrior. I cant tag as well as my ranger.
Forstgorge my warrior is fine but the gold/hour there is low.
How do you tag mobs in cs? Tried rifle with fire sigil and bow with fire sigil
Also tried dual axes but mobs die before i get to them

Far as I can tell, you can make a warrior that has low condition duration, very high damage, heavy high health, very good regen, and very high armor. Maybe lower some of that?
Guess I could be more specific. OK:
Running zerker I can usually tell when someone’s running bunker setup or not. I’ve encountered warriors in the field that are somewhere in the middle, but their massive health pool and innate regen keep them above 75% even as I’m wailing on them with my heavy-hitting moves. They have enough condi-cleanse to ignore the ticks they do get, and with CI are able to clear them fairly regularly. Their CC also allows single characters to hold points from multiple attackers, which when paired with their innate regen and condi-cleanse become a bit of a pain to handle.
What else…
We as a class have access to way more immunities than we should. Traited right we get two sets of 5-sec damage immunity, 10-sec condi immunity, 10-sec CC immunity (20 if we’re running Last Stand but nobody takes that over CI), and if we’re using Defiant Stance we can facetank for ~4sec without giving a single kitten . Tho most don’t since HS does most of that work for us.
CI is getting nerfed because of the addrenaline change is it not?

why do people care if other people farm the event(aside from anet) its not like it hurts anyone, I can understand if you stumble upon it try to finish it and people yell at you then you may want to finish it out of spite but other than that i dont really get it, if you are after the reward of completing the event then you should just farm it for the obviously better rewards

This is gonna make playing warrior a lot more strategic and skill-based — I think the biggest hit here is the adrenaline rework.
I don’t think it’s all too bad warriors knew a hit was coming.
With this adrenaline change you’re gonna have to do a lot more positioning, making sure when you make an adrenaline burst skill that it WILL land — taking advantage of your adrenaline in every fight as best as you possibly can knowing that you got to dump it on the spot.
It makes thematic sense too — in the heat of the moment you gain adrenaline but when you pay attention somewhere else your adrenaline subsides
well if you just got out of a fight and you have an enemy in sight and you are rushin to him/her i think the adrenaline would still be there
any class thats prepared should always bring a weapon that has condi removal(if there class has one)
i just keep a LB in my inventory and replace my axe/mace or GS with it when i know im gonna need condi removal

TS, just try to combine pice by pice the look that you want and it will lead you to something uniq and good, if u really interested in your look, if not just go whatever first guy with 20 legendaries will advice you.
