As the raids currently stand, I can’t play with my friends who play tanky builds, since I’m tanky as well.

(please don’t say, “just get DPS gear”. That’s like me saying, “Hey! This basketball is deflated!” and you reply, “Then play golf.”)

I completely understand the argument of a full group of tanky players being able to have a much easier time, and that’s not good. The thing is, the mechanics are what you should be fighting against, not an arbitrary timer. I’m all for a mechanic that required your group to have a certain amount of DPS, but as it stands…1 tank…MAYBE on healer…8/9 DPS? That doesn’t include my friends.

We’re talking about game developers here. They’re creative. If they took the timer away or made the timer longer they have~ other~ ways~ of making the fights more challenging to compensate. Just because you can’t imagine them doesn’t mean a professional game designer can’t think up something.

All I want is to play the raids with my friends. We’re all great players, very skilled. But, it seems that’s not enough at the moment.

I have a question for, im legitimately curious, if your group is skilled, why not use dps gear, its not like you need the defence, and gear doesnt change the playstyle of a build, it simply changes the numbers that the build can put out, so why do you guys like playing tanky builds as oppossed to dps ones? you are all skilled players so you dont need it to survive.

No, Legendary gives no added bonuses over ascended, if you don’t want to work for legendary then you are not any worse off than before. No support.

Legendary “stuff” does provide versatility so that is a boon to the gear rank. Your level of support for this doesn’t matter, something will change over time once the devs gather enough feedback and statistics. I guarantee they are questioning their current design choices as we type, so it will only be a matter of time. Also, a dev could swoop in here and tell me I’m wrong, but that will be temporary “heel digging” and won’t last long.

Edit- Games can offer challenging content, and none of what I said takes that away. You people also have to understand that casuals are the backbone to any video game so content designed to being tightly exclusive, along with a lack of options and qol features like I mentioned, are areas where developers always end up shooting themselves in the foot.

There is no added gear rank just because you can swap stats, it’s still not practical because you’ll still need to swap runes, Which if running strength runes like many do, is not going to be an option. No ones going to pay 100g every time they need to change out their runes. And quit honestly, i’ve only ever been in maybe 2 situations where i’ve needed to swap stats to anything from zerker. The issues with not being able to get it are simply learn to play issues.

There is nothing wrong whatsoever with exclusive content. Look at runescape, they have a variety of certain drops only dropped by certain high level boss monsters that are pretty difficult for anyone not in top end gear. Yet, no one there complains because they understand it’s something to strive for and that not everyone will have them.

If you can’t keep up with the endgame content then don’t do it until you can. Casuals are the backbone sure, but that doesn’t mean 100% of content needs to be tuned to them, at some point you need to think about the veterans and what they want.
Legendaries are simply skins with very limited added utility the stats are exactly the same as ascended and casuals can easily get ascended. If you don’t have ascended then There’s no way you’ll be going for legendary either regardless.

Of course legendaries are practicle… Runes are minor in comparison to the entire gear and food package. Soon enough we will be able to swap out runes and sigils, and we will eventually get ascended and legend dart runes and sigils as well.

The game is pusing toward roles for endgame content, you’ll make more than two builds eventually and legendary gear will be a blessing if you have it.

I’m glad that works for runescape, but it will need to be adjusted here.

What I want are options for all players, nothing of what I said takes that away…

I have weapons, never switched the stats once and I can’t even think of a situation where I would ever need to either. You are basing your statement off assumptions about being able to rune swap, and actually rune swapping is far more important because it costs far more, a set of exotic full zero armor is cheaper than a set of strength runes. You obviously don’t need to replace ascended/legendary armor if you want new runes, you just need to replace the runes.

Not once has anet confirmed rune swapping is going to be a thing.

I’m guessing you never play wvw then. And you might want to check the cost of a full set of ascended armor- it’s way more now than a set of strength runes (not that people use those in wvw anyway).

There are other parts of the game that don’t just use zerk faceplant.

I wouldn’t, and i know you weren’t talking to me, but i dont enjoy pvp and WvW, well actually i might swap, only if the class is good at Power and condi damage

Let’s look at nearly every mmo out there raiding is what runs off the average player since new players must spend months and months getting geared to try to kill harder bosses to advance in game. Now we are seeing this in gw2 the same reason I left wow was lack of raiding group players you can’t depend on. Gw2 since heart of thorns attitude has changed it’s no longer fun to play with others. As I feared raiding plagues so many mmos with eliteism and then begans cursing in chat player arguments kicks destroyed friendships and so on it’s just a downward spiral. True a lot of these aren’t a nets fault but why antagonize these players to act in such a manner. I’ve always had issues with 10 man raid content since my normal online group of friends is 4-5 players picking up pugs always creates issues. Is this what the average players want in game though. raid content will be unreachable for new players so they will see as I saw in wow these set groups and guilds are created then no new players are accepted into them creating aurmour sand weapons that half the community can never get or have a chance at. getting. Gw2 has made a bed I’m not sure they want to sleep in they would have done far better to create 5 man content more challenging or make ascended aurmours easier to obtain for new players having over 1500 gold is required at this point just to began raiding. I’m all for challenging content but are they going about it the right way. You risk destroying the average player base let’s face it every player wants a chance at a legendary set should it only be able to those elite guilds and no one else. We have seen no new dungeons no new fractals no 2-5 man content at all in heart of thorns 90 percent of the pllayerbase does not have 10 people online to go . The main change has been a friendly mmo turning sour seemingly overnight . I just feel gw2 is taking a very dark turn.

About the Legendary armor, is there allowed to be nothing in this game that is prestigious in any way shape or form? I mean, its not like its a stat increase, its purely aesthetic, MMOs should have at least some content that isn’t aimed at the average players

I am not saying I did the math, but the fact that EVERY meta power build for every class in the game (except mesmer for some reason) uses full zerk probably has a reason of some sort. You asked for advise, and got it. Take it or leave it. You could check metabattle.com for the most viable ele builds.

if memory serves precision affects reflect damage, even if u go over 100% crit chance, so thats why they take assassins, for maxing reflects

In my opinion the enrage timer is one of the biggest issues.

Also some of the mobs have way too much HP to allow other gears setups than “zerkers” (or sinister/viper for dmg resistant enemies).

For example the four big ghosts @ the second boss Gorvoge(?) (and also the walls while being chased by this fog of doom…). They have a big health pool, and the ghosts wipe the whole group if one breaks through, punishing groups which play a bit more defensive and don’t go full damage…

Just looking at the basic mechanics the raids are great. But I fail to understand how ANet wants us to go for build diversity, and yet is still forcing people to go for glassy dmg/condi builds by having an enrage timer.

If you go for to much defense, you are punished. You may say that one druid/ele that goes for healing may be enough , but if this one guy dies, the whole group may be dead too.

And than there is the other topic of testing raids… DnT (who did the testing with other guilds) is, from what I know, very experienced in regards to dungeons etc.

But this is not the average player base! Most people don’t run these souped-up gear compositions they have… Most people don’t play on such a high concentration level, where every button press of the damage rotation is studied in.

For example we have one guy, who doesn’t pay 100% attention the whole time, doesn’t run full glass with his ele. Currently I’m forced to exclude him from raids, just because the benchmark was done with people, who are multiple times better than most players ingame….

I understand that the raids are supposed to be end-game content, but currently I have the impression, that victory in Spirit Vale won’t be archived by very many players.

In PVE Condition Warrior isn’t bad, specially as a Berserker, DPS is quite up there.

Sad to say though there are a lot of narrow minded and stupid people out there.. so be prepared to get flamed at or kicked from parties when not running a PS build in Berserker armor. =p

although id never kick a warrior for running another dps build, i can understand wanting a PS warr, the whole perma 25 group might thing is pretty great

its probably sub optimal, havent kept up on it in a while, but the old fast hands warrior Gs+Axe/Mace build you just used the cooldown skills on gs like hundred blades and whirlwind, then went to A/M used 2 and 4 and auto attacked until hundred blades was up

The Souls game are my favorite game ever. I own PS3 DS2, PC DS2 with all expansion and the PS4 version…..

I usually stop leveling at level 120-125 and keep playing to NG++++ My main quality build character as like 15 million unused souls in case I decide I should level him.

I really liked bloodborne the feeling of your character is amazing. My big issue was the gun in PvP and I hope the expansion will fix that. I was wishing for pistol for warr elite spec. I wished I could use Sword/Pistol and GS or Hammer just like in bloodborne.

I could beat all boss without healing in the first Dark Soul minus the 4 kings.

personally i prefer high level pvp in Ds2, tho I understand wanting to be around that level

Has anyone ever wondered what it would be like to play the equivalent of dark souls in guild wars 2? Well, I have found something far, FAR harder than that! Playing Warrior in high tier PVP; is essentially the equivalent of beating Dark Souls in it’s hardest mode with a guitar hero guitar instead of a controller! I mean doesn’t everyone just LOVE the narcissistic pain of playing that game, it’s just sooooo nice that you can FINALLY experience that right here in guild wars 2 with warrior. To go hours each night with a win ratio being somewhere around 1 in every 5 just gives me that same high as being defeated over and over by Old Iron King (one of the hardest DS bosses). Just love the direction they went with warrior!

dark souls aint that bad, though thats probably because i have over 400 hours in the 1st one and around 200 hours in the second one, but i get what ur sayin, im not much of a pvper but from what i see class balancing in pvp aint to great

Anet doesnt want liquid gold rewards in dungeons and fractals, so they nerfed those. What they should do, is increase the rate that we get items, to a level that we get silverwaste tier gold from selling said items

personally, i wish theyd just split the balancing for pve, pvp, and wvw. that would be the ideal solution. and there are plenty of people who suggest nerfs for things that are good in pvp but garbage in pve

Splitting PvP and PvE might work, but WvW is just their OWPvP, which is always in a PvE universe. There’s absolutely no way they’ll ever balance something differently between PvE and WvW. In fact, I bet it’s technologically impossible, unless they were to create a separation in the systems (which won’t happen, and would just be confusing if they did).

i dont mind pve and wvw being not split, that fine, but pve and pvp should be split

Hi,

I play necromancer since the release, my main is now my reaper, of course.

It’s a way too easy to play through the jungle, not as challenging as with an other profession. The reaper is amazing, maybe too amazing IMO. It’s fun to play, but too easy. Please Anet, offer us more challenge, nerf us.

I’m not interested in the other professions, I don’t want to reroll.

So what your saying is, you want the open world pve content to be challenging, in an mmo, thats funny.

I dont PvP so i cant comment in that area. But for PVE the animations are awesome, the reaper is a great bonus to that. The death theme is great. I love deathshroud. And The hope that one day MM Necro will be semi viable

Anet, please:

A — remove achievement points from being visible in dungeons or in party.
B -- remove the linking of armor stats within dungeons to allow for players to play support roles, condition roles, and etc.
C — disallow use of damage meters

Create a Terms of Service agreement that bars players from being able to do all of the above.


IF any of the above is considered to extreme, consider, find, and apply other alternatives.

YOU (Anet) have made a great game, but your players are forcing unnecessary and unwarranted restrictions upon how that game may be played. This severely enough that many simply won’t do dungeons now.

Remove the gold,remove the little crapy chests/champboxes and insert a rewarding chest at the end of the dungeon with the chance to get a rare skin similar to the aetherpath.

As you’ve noticed, the most efficient method of beating the dungeons is the zerker meta, and yes, that does tend to mean that people who play different types of builds are unwanted. That’s a deeper issue regarding game balance, I feel.

The zerker meta is the most efficient way of going through dungeons when you have players who understand the type of build.
Running a pug group full of zerkers with some newbies will prove far more difficult than say a more toughness build.

Zerker is the way to go once you are used to your class and have run all the dungeons a couple of times.Getting a fresh new lvl 80 in zerker gear and throwing him in a dungeon with let’s say 2 more just like him,will prove to be a wipe fest.

i put my friend in zerker gear and melee and she is used to conditions and ranged
and she was fine because i explained things to her

I’m a returning player after over a year, and I’ll share my insight. Compared to WoW dungeons, the dungeons in this game are confusing. In WoW, at least when I played, the dungeons were straight forward; you go in and kill stuff until you get to the boss. The bosses may have had a unique fight mechanic, but it was easy to figure out.

In this game, everything is a maze, and the dungeon runners are hostile. Most things can be skipped, bugged, or cheesed somehow, and there is so much backtracking. I knew all the tricks to each dungeon. Now, everyone does them different, and I’m a noob again. I have to relearn each one because everyone has a different cheese spot, or skips different things. I have played MMOs for 12 years, and I feel for new players who get called names, noob, or kicked because they haven’t run the path 100 times. How is anyone supposed to know to sneak past 50 mobs and hide in a corner, when the dungeons are not intended to be played that way? Then you get the guy with 12,000 achievement points getting kittened off because no one knows all his secret hiding spots, and it’s crystal clear why no one cares about dungeons anymore.

The next biggest problem, is everyone is speccing Berserker or similar damage gear, and going full damage traits. Then everyone dies in 3 hits. If you go support, you’re not wanted.

In summary, confusing and broken dungeons, together with a 2 year old player base hostile to newbies is why no one cares about dungeons anymore in this game.

Yes.

One shotting is not fun to do to people nor fun to have done to you.

It takes ZERO skill and there’s already way too many zero skill high damage combos in this game.

Don’t care what class it’s on, every time another brainless high damage combo enters the game, the game gets less fun to play.

if you can be one shot ny something else while doing it there isnt anything wrong with oneshotting

btw i dont play this build, and my ranger is probably one of my least played characters so im not just defending the buff because I use it

im pretty sure 100b is the main reason why pure axe isnt better than GS+Axe/X
if you nerf 100b by 25% even with the 10% buff to AA i think it just bring pure Axe above GS+Axe/X in pve

so if you want something thats good in pvp and pve you should be asking for them to split the game modes
