As much as I love crafting in this game I would say its a close 2nd to Eve Online. Just about every single item in the game is crafted and the market is all player driven. I am really glad they brought over buy orders just like eve. Only thing is Eve is a gazillion times more complicated because you also have to take logistics into account when it comes to manufacturing.
I think you can type /lfg as well.
Yeah I like Lorana’s idea of a daily story dungeon that way you can’t really “farm” it since you get the reward once a day and it would make 1 of the 8 dungeons popular for a day.
I have only been able to do 1 story mode dungeon due to how hard it is to find a pug for story mode. As time goes on it seems much harder to find groups willing to try or do them.
Check your graphic settings. I could swear I just saw a Dontain youtube video where he talked about some weapons that glow need a certain graphics setting turned up.
Me and a few friends were in WvW and I was on top of one of our towers which was over a cliff. I could see my friend way down below and so I did what any normal person would do. Jump off the cliff to my death trying to land on top of one of my friends while yelling in vent “I am heading right for you, don’t look up!”. As we were laughing he resurrected me and we went on to fight the good fight for our world :-)
Can’t say I have ever had this much fun in an MMO before.
Also are there daily quests in this game? I know there are events and all but like once a day daily quests? Spanx!
There is a daily achievement that rewards you with a chest when you finish it.
Great post. There do seem to be a lot of people that “MMO hop” and those players will never be satisfied… EVER. There is no game that can fill the void they are looking for. Not sure why they think every game they try out is going to “be the one”.
Some people were really looking for tangible gear rewards “end game” and when they hit that gear cap they see no point to playing anymore. Those are the same players that think dungeons are pointless because dungeons are for cosmetic gear not stat gear. For those of us that play the game for fun were doing just that. Playing and having fun.
I spent 2 sessions farming spiders outside LA for a good 15 minutes each time to get spider venom which was a huge bottleneck in my crafting at one point. I did notice after a while the drop rates on it would get less and less over time. I don’t think its a bad thing but it would be curious to know how it works so as to not waste time. Like how long would I need to wait before it gets reset and that kind of thing.
What happens if you die and you have no money on your character? Or in your bank?
The closest waypoint is free then. The tooltip was bugged in beta and said it had a cost even though you could click on it and revive. Not sure if that was fixed but it should work either way.
In my opinion this wave of complaints about “end game” are coming mostly from the hard-core “gotta-max-level-asap” crowd who rushed through a game that wasn’t designed to be rushed through.
It’s like opening the box to Monopoly, picking the race car, stacking all the money and properties in front of you and placing hotels all over the place and then complaining that the game is completely lacking in substance.
Pretty much this. The game is meant to scale horizontally not vertically (gear treadmill) and those that are accustomed to the typical MMO games just realized this game is not like that. Most of those players didn’t realize that was the whole philosophy and don’t know “what to do” at end game. It’s actually kind of funny.
Its hard to break that old raiding gear tier mentality for a lot of people I guess.
Its still better than the alternative like ALL the other MMOs do where you NEVER play with your friends until endgame.
Besides knowing there is a chance for gear to drop of your level is still there and it does happen. I don’t know I have been pretty happy w/ it so far and I have gone back to zones 30-40 levels below where I am for friends.
I think all the world bosses should be made much harder personally. The only problem with that is since they seem to happen every 2-3 hours it would make for some sad players if there were >50% failure rates. What do you guys think?
I wonder if they will ever add a hard mode like the original guild wars. Will be interesting to see what they do though.
How about that fire elemental in the asura starting zone :P
Maybe he needs to move to Orr lol.
You “get more powerful” by getting better at playing your character.
That’s fine, but to do that you need a constant flow of content. You can;t be expected to repeat the same.
So it’s a double-edged sword.
If the content expanded like it did from the original GW1 to the end of their last expansion – Eye of the North, then we could expect 3 to 4 times the land mass we currently have. There are plenty of ways for this game to branch out in content trust me. The original game (including expansions) had over 75 missions/dungeons.
GW1 is a massive game and I expect that GW2 will develop into a massive one as well.
Just look at all the people that put 5000+ hours into GW1. There will be tons to do beyond what we currently see right now. The future is looking good as far as I am concerned.
I would personally love to see spears in the game. In past experience, the only MMO games that let me wield a spear are eastern grind-fests. I don’t mind if they’re one handed or two handed weapons, spears are flexible.
aren’t spears already in the game in the form of under water weapons? Or am I hitting the pipe too hard again?
You are correct they are the under water weapon. Maybe they could do halberds for ground spears :P
I have a feeling that no sense of progression is what will make a lot of people leave, including my self. I love this game don’t get me wrong but this game has no end game.
I don’t buy into this crap that end game starts at level 1, since end game is about max level doing max level content everything else before hand is for leveling.
I don’t think you understand or grasp what the guild wars games have been about. They are about the experience and content (horizontal scaling) where as 95% of the rest of the MMOs out there are about vertical scaling or tiered gear grind. This game is meant to hit a cap for stats so if your looking for more stats your playing the wrong game.
Think of this game like League of Legends in terms of horizontal scaling. Do you think when people hit level 30 summoner that they quit playing because there is no more stat progress? Of course not.
Kodan would be boss for sure.
Came here expecting a where are the raids rant… but I have to agree with you that a dungeon finder would be nice and they really have to do something about the WvW queues… even if they show us where we are in the queue that would help, so I know how long it’s going to be.
Your title is still misleading. Neither of those have to do with end game because you can do them from lvl 2 (WvW) or 30 (dungeons).
This game is very non linear. Your approaching it from a linear typical MMO standpoint. I think they did intend players to do a wide variety of things because of the whole non linear nature of the game. I feel like I am leveling faster than the content so I am on the other side of the coin but I have been doing a little bit of everything (crafting, dungeons, WvW, pve, exploring).
That is not true at all. This game is about horizontal scaling not vertical scaling. Grinding for better gear so you can do the next tier dungeon/raid is so lame in a game like this. Dungeons are meant to be done for the challenge not the gear grind.
If your the type of person who loves raiding there are plenty of other MMOS for those type of people. I for one love not having to keep up with the gear treadmill.
